Mekela was so professional and all around lovely to work with! She took my vision for my wedding day hair and make up and made it a reality. She also was great with adjusting things with little modifications or changes (I went from a test run with a completely different hair style vs my wedding day) and she provided inspo pics and helped me decide on what I really envisioned for my wedding day! I highly recommend her for any wedding or big event! -

I am so thankful I was able to find Mekela. She is an absolute doll and made me feel like a dream on my wedding day with her makeup and all of my girls looked amazing! She is also super down to earth and very pleasant to work with. Could not recommend her enough, she really works with you on your trial day to make sure that you're happy and absolutely comes through on the big day. Hope I never get married again but if I did I would contact Mekela! -

Mekela was absolutely amazing.
Mekela nailed the trial and my wedding day. I appreciated how kind she was and her communication leading up to the wedding day. She was right on time and was amazing with the timeline. I cannot say enough about how much I loved my hair and makeup. All of the guests were raving about my makeup. The look lasted the entire day, all the way up to the dancing at the end of the night. Mekela was absolutely amazing! She brought such a calming yet fun energy to the big day, complete with a fantastic playlist. Being an out-of-state bride meant no trial, but Mekela was incredibly patient on the wedding day itself. She welcomed my feedback and expertly adjusted both hair and makeup until it was exactly what I'd dreamed of. I felt so beautiful, and she never once made me feel bad about requesting changes.
Her touch-up services were a lifesaver! It was a hot 98 degrees, and we had a first look plus portraits all over downtown Sacramento. My hair struggles to hold a curl and I was sweating like no other, so having her there for touch-ups was invaluable. She effortlessly transitioned from our hotel suite to the venue's bridal suite, keeping my hair and makeup flawless from first look to ceremony to reception.
She also did hair for 6 of my girls and make up for 3, and got through everyone with great timing and they all had unique yet cohesive looks.
Booking Mekela was one of the best decisions I made. She's truly fantastic! -

Best Wedding Makeup Artist!!!!
Mekela and her team are absolutely incredible. My wedding was in early November of 2023, and I can't imagine working with a better artist and her team. First of all, Mekela was so easy to work with and communicative, making planning a breeze when it came to doing my trial and accommodating hair and makeup for 14 women the day of my wedding. It was a herculean effort but everyone was so happy with the outcome.
Even when I had to deal with people being picky on their start times, Mekela assured me everything would work out and was so flexible with changing the schedule and accommodating everyone's preferences. On top of everything else, Mekela and her team not only gave 14 women incredible make up and hair styles, but in record time! I couldn't believe how beautifully everything turned out for everyone in our party and we stayed ahead of schedule! I will also add that I never thought I could look so good and she made me feel like the most beautiful bride. I think it truly helped me finally let go of the last minute stress and be in the moment and just enjoy every second of that day.
If there is any doubt on who to pick for your wedding hair and makeup, save yourself a lot of stress and go with Mekela and her team. You will be in excellent hands with someone who genuinely cares about making your big day the best it can be and helping you prepare for your walk down the aisle. -

Mekela is the absolute BEST!
I would HIGHLY recommend Mekela to anyone looking for a wedding hair and makeup artist! She is so friendly, attentive, and absolutely amazing at what she does!
Leading up the the wedding she was quick to respond and happy to provide suggestions. She provided a detailed timeline prior to the wedding day to make sure everyone’s services were listed in order with time blocks including a buffer to make sure we were done on time. On the wedding day she was attentive to everyone’s needs and got us through each person with plenty of time to spare. Everyone loved their hair and makeup!
As the bride, Mekela made me feel like an absolute ANGEL. My makeup and hair were exactly as I had it at my trial but somehow a thousand times better. My hair stayed in place all night and my makeup still looked flawless after many tears and lots of dancing. The final product literally took my breath away! She is the absolute best! Thank you Mekela for making me feel like the most beautiful bride to ever walk down the aisle 🩷 -

She is amazing
She is super gentle, she listens to you about how you want to look and does exactly what you ask, she is super fast, but at the same time she does everything excellent and very professional, and as a person she is very very nice, I would recommend her to anyone who wants to get married, I feel like we couldn't choose a better makeup artist 10/10 -

An amazing makeup artist and such a sweet and genuine human being
She did my hair AND makeup and was very flexible and kind to work with, her products are high end and made to fit any and every client, she was so patient and fun to work with not only for trials but also for my wedding day despite aaallllll the wedding day chaos! She didn’t stop until every detail was perfect! She even offered to let me use her wedding veil since mine was running so late getting here on time! My hair and makeup held ALL NIGHT LONG which is insane because my hair is thick and long but she knew exactly how to make it stay. So kind and so knowledgeable, I would recommend her to ANYONE! -

I loved working with Mekela! She did my makeup and hair for my engagement photos and my wedding day. She also did the makeup for my bridal party, mom, and mother-in-law. She’s super talented and listens to what you want. I loved how my makeup turned out both times. It looked great in photos but I also still looked like my self and felt comfortable in it. Some of my girls wanted a more natural look and she actually gave them that! I’ve been in a few weddings and I’ve see MUA totally ignore that request before. On top of all of that, Mekela is super friendly and caring. Highly recommend! -

Mekela was amazing from the very beginning of our communication. I wanted a bouncy blow out but was concerned about that style lasting for 8+ hours. She had a bunch of tips and recommendations to resolve my concerns and I couldn’t have been happier with the final look! My loose curls held all day/night. Seriously at 2am my hair was still perfect- she is truly magical. She also provided hair and makeup for my matrons of honor and a few of my wedding guests, all of which turned out gorgeous. She was timely, professional, talented, and an absolute sweetheart! Don’t think twice about booking her! -

Reliable, prepared, excellent skills
Meka was an excellent choice for my hair and makeup for my pre wedding photo shoot. She was responsive, kind, flexible, respectful of my time and delivered on the quality of hair and makeup. She made sure that I was able to get my trial done before the day of the event. I felt like an absolute doll and my husband said the makeup was the best he’d ever seen on me. I will be returning to Meka next time I need a top level hair and makeup artist. Plus I had so much fun. She has a calming aura, and asks questions from a genuine place of curiosity. Exceptional!!
Mekela totally exceeded my most hopeful expectations!!!! I am the mother of the groom and had my sisters and niece with me for my son’s wedding. We wanted sophisticated and yet glamorous… with baby fine hair and “seasoned” skin ( except for my niece who is younger) Mekela worked magic on all of us!! Mekela worked w me from the first time I reached out and was very responsive to any inquiry I had. We were coming in from out of town and didn’t have any trial time. She arrived w plenty of time to spend w us and listened to our requests for hair and makeup. She was delightful to chat with and felt like a 4th sister. She did an amazing job since the trial that we did to the actual wedding day. It was really nice having someone so kind and lovely as her do my make up and hair. My sister and my mom were in love with their makeup as well and it last us all night long even after many tears.

Mekela did my wedding parties hair 01/07/2023. I had three moms, 11 bridesmaids and myself.
During my hair trial, she recommended (with links provided) the specific hair extensions and hair products that would work best for me if I wanted to use them for the day of my wedding.
She was so fun and easy going during the whole process! She made a schedule that worked with each girls request.
Ask about her “Party Pony”!! Her energy, personality and overall kindness and professionalism made my day a breeze. She adapted to timelines and personalities of my film group seamlessly.

Made me feel like a May Queen!
I am a bit obsessed with the movie Midsommar, so that was the inspiration for my big day. I found Mekela through Instagram, and I loved that all her brides had a softer glam look. I wanted to feel beautiful, but I still wanted to look like me. I also had a flower crown made for me. Initially, I thought I wanted to do an updo, but Mekela suggested a braid and it was perfect! I had so many people ask if the braid was all my own hair because she made it look so thick and full. -

Make up disaster
I had my wedding last May of 2024. Unfortunately I can’t recommend Mekela. I booked a Full Glam for myself with Hollywood Waves. My make up melted off completely. Luckily I know how to do makeup myself so I was able to re-do my own makeup but that took time out of my day as well and it added stress to a day I should’ve just been able to enjoy. My hair was pretty but definitely not Hollywood Waves. Pretty disappointed with the service compared to the money I had to spend.
Update to the reply:
To clarify my review for any future brides, my make up did NOT last. I looked pretty in the moment, but during/right after the ceremony my makeup melted off due to some tears which means my make up only lasted around 2 hours (!!). I was told to fix it by others because it was really bad and showed up in the pictures. I completely had to redo my own makeup which again I luckily know how to do but it’s just risky if you’re a bride who doesn’t know how to do makeup and it’s also just not what you pay for. A professional bridal MUA should know how to make bridal makeup last because tears are bound to happen. As for Mekela, I didn’t reach out to you after or during my wedding because I simply did not have time for that nor do I care about a refund or apology since the damage was already done and I had fixed my makeup myself. A refund or apology was not going to make up for the stress and time loss on my wedding day.

It is too unfortunate I have to respond again because of her replies with lies. I booked with Mekela one month before not 2 weeks before. Nonetheless she had availability and she knew my wedding date when I reached out and she accepted me as her client. As for bridal prep I did everything she asked for the day of and I already have a good skincare routine. After my reviews Mekela has harassed me with texts and has been SUPER unprofessional coming up with lies, being condescending, discriminating and admitted she was not capable of providing me with the services I requested and paid for, but gladly took my money for.
As an immigrant, I only spoke my truth and in fact got scammed and lied to by her. She handled this unprofessional and shows no respect for her clients and that her workspace is NOT a safe place at all. -
