    The Crowne Plaza was our first choice for a wedding venue! From day one Desiree made our experience the most memorable one my husband and I will ever have. Desiree was always available and made us feel like we were the most important clients. We were able to come in for multiple viewings of other weddings, to meet and calm any wedding nerves, and to have a set up of what our room would look like with our linens. My family and friends were blown away by the professionalism and attitude by Desiree and her staff. She not only made our wedding day flawless but after the wedding we heard of a few seating issues that my husband and I didn't even know about that she quickly took care of. Desiree was so easy to work with we truly enjoyed her honesty and passion for making our dreams come true. Thank you so much Desiree!!!!

    I loved the Crowne Plaza because the staff there were both professional, and extremely helpful. My wedding ceremony location was only ten minutes away, so it made traveling very convenient for my guests. I was able to easily explain how I wanted the centerpieces arranged, and the staff did exactly what I needed them to and some. The theme of my wedding was "Fairytale" and that is exactly what I got. All of the centerpieces along with the table decor were beautifully placed, and very elegant. I absolutely loved everything. In all honesty, there was nothing that I could complain about. The event coordinator, Desiree, was such a sweetheart and made sure that our night was flawless. The Crowne Plaza did a phenomenal job overall. Thank You ;-)

    Michelle and everyone at the Holiday Inn Select Claymont were very nice and helpful to us throughout our reception planning. They handle almost everything for the reception - food, flowers, cake (although we went with a different vendor for our cake). They were very accommodating with setup requests and requests about placement of favors and table seating cards. The food was absolutely delicious. The florist they use was not the best, and they give you a measly allowance per table for arrangements, but they looked nice enough. They provide the bride and groom with an awesome suite for the night of the reception, complete with rose petals on the bed and a bottle of champagne. They also give guests a reduced room rate if they say they are with your wedding.

    Our only big complaint is that they lost the top layer of our cake, which we were supposed to eat on our one year anniversary, which we were very unhappy about.

    I loved having the ceremony and reception at this site. At first I was unsure on how it would flow, but Michelle Vinitzki made everything flow with grace. She was always available to talk about everything that would happen that day and she made me feel comfortable and confident. THe hotel was so nice looking and the food tasted great! They made it so fun for us that we even went for an extra hour and there was not a problem in doing that! I have already reccomended it to a few people!

    They did a great job and my wedding was everything I dreamed of. My only complaint was my wedding coordinator was changed three times during my wedding planning process but they fixed that by hiring Desiree. She was amazing, easily accessible and accommodating to all my needs.

    Very clean. NIce rooms. Booked for a wedding party and the quality of the rooms was definitely up to par. I'm a bougie traveler and i was very happy with my room. Was updated and clean. The only issue was during check in. I'm the bride. My room should have been ready. We were there 1 hour after the scheduled check in time and my room wasn't ready. We had tons of crap with us so it was very inconvenient having to move my things into a friends room then move it all into mine after the rehearsal. After lugging everything we had to quickly get dressed for dinner. URGH!
    On the positive side again, they had the shuttle service available and I heard no complaints about that.

    We used the hotel to accommodate out of town guests. We booked a wedding block and the shuttle as well as our suite for the evening of our wedding. We were given bad information, which wasn't honored. Phone calls and emails were not returned. We were told early check in was no problem since our wedding started at 4PM and we needed to be at the hotel & checked in, & shuttled to our venue for 1PM. The woman at the desk got in a huff about not being able to check us in, gave me a hassle about my credit card not being the one on file (I was issued a new one with a microchip since booking), and that she knew nothing about our alleged early check-in or shuttle. Yup, we were late to our own wedding. Granted it was for getting ready, but still. Not the type of thing you want to deal with on your wedding day AFTER everything was booked and confirmed. They wasted my time, my energy, and my money. Not worth it.

    My daughter selected this hotel for our out of town guests for her wedding nearly a year in advance. Right from the start, we had issues with the website saying that there were no rooms available in the block, as early as 6 months before the wedding. We had to constantly call the hotel to have them add rooms to the block, and the event coordinator was very poor at returning our calls. Many of our guests were told that since the room block was full, even though it wasn't, that they needed to book rooms elsewhere. The reservations line was extremely rude and unhelpful to some of our guests.
    When we actually checked in, we wanted to check our daughter into the honemoon suite a day early. However, they failed to extend her stay and told her the morning of the wedding, that she needed to check out. I fixed the situation, but this was a stress that the bride should not have to endure and is completely unacceptable. Additionally, when we asked if the bridal suite could be serviced after the bride and the bridesmaids left, we were told that the housekeeping staff didn't know if they could accommodate us. So, my wife and daughter, the bride, cleaned the room themselves minutes before leaving for the church.

    The rooms were reasonably sized, but dated and not up to the standards we expect from a Crowne Plaza, with peeling wallpaper, old furniture, and such. We heard about additional problems from our guests, including non-functioning air conditioning, and rooms not being serviced.

    My wife and I hosted breakfast at the Embers restaurant which was in the hotel the Sunday after the wedding. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, and the hostess was extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was adequate, and the restaurant kept it well stocked despite the fact that we had over 80 guests for breakfast.

    Overall, we would not book another event there. Especially considering that we brought around 100 room nights to their hotel, the level of customer service was very poor.
