We were thrilled with Ruby and the other two wonderful musicians that played during our cocktail hour and during our wedding ceremony. I had always dreamed about having musicians play our favorite music during the cocktail hour and a have the song that I wanted and not your standard wedding music for my walk down the aisle Blue Sands Music made our event special and personal and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Music truly makes your event magical, special, and successful. You could not find a better group of muscians to ensure your day or event is amazing. Thank you for making Our Day Perfect!! I was extremely impressed with the quality and professionalism this group provided for me and my Husband at our wedding! My mom is a pianist and has played in many weddings throughout her career. I wanted her to play with a cello as i walked down the isle. Ruby and the rest of the group were able to grant my wishes and it was magical! They played a wide variety of music including some contemporary and some classical. I would most definitely recommend them to any bride to be looking for a quartet!

This is not the first time I have had the pleasure of working with Blue Sands music and it certainly won't be the last. Ruby and the entire team are fantastic to work with. They are flexible and willing to accommodate any request. They performed every song requested by the bride and exceeded all expectations. You won't regret including them in your special day or event!

I was so pleased to meet Ruby at a Bridal Show and what a great experience I had with Blue Sands. They were so easy to work with! They had great song suggestions and played songs I requested. They followed through and showed up on time to everything and I did not have to worry about them at all - which is such a bonus to a bride planning her own wedding!

Ruby and the rest of the Blue Sands Music group were completely amazing as musicians for our wedding. They provided really great quality music at a reasonable rate (and offered a student discount -- very kind), and worked with us beforehand on song choice and overall styling of the music. My mother and I are both musicians (violinists) and so having good classical music at my wedding was really important to us. Ruby listened to our thoughts, made the time to meet me and my now-husband in person, and came up with a variety of songs for the prelude that fit the sound of the select songs we picked for the processional/recessionals. I'm very very thankful for all the hard work they put into this special occasion, and would absolutely highly recommend them all for any kind of music at your next event!

They were wonderful! Ruby was exceptional with the planning of the music and so flexible when I would change my mind. Also, they agreed to accompany me on the piano! The upbeat music for the cocktail hour was delightful! All in all , I could not have asked for anything more. I highly reccomend Blue Sands to everyone for special events.

Blue Sands Music was absolutely fantastic! Ruby was so incredibly helpful and responsive, she made it so easy to get everything worked out, even though we contacted them just a few weeks before the wedding. We had a string trio perform during the ceremony and cocktail hour, and the musicians were top notch! Everything was lovely, and Ruby was wonderful in helping us choose songs and types of music for the trio to play. Everyone told us they absolutely loved the music. Thank you Ruby and Blue Sands!

What an amazing experience. We acquired several quotes from other groups, but ultimately chose Blue Sands. They were very flexible with our schedule. They gave us wonderful music selections to choose from. Ruby was very responsive to questions, and made the whole transaction seemless and simple. The whole group was extremely professional, and sounded fantastic.

Blue Sands Music provided ceremony music for my wedding on September 6th! They were professional, timely, friendly and very easy to work with. They talked me through musical selections and each member was very talented! I would recommend them to anyone!

Ms. Ruby played I Hope You Dance at my mother's celebration of life service and it was absolutely beautiful. Her music added a special touch to the celebration. My family will definitely use her and her family again.

Blue Sands Music provided EXCEPTIONAL service for my daughter's wedding at Duke Gardens in Durham. My daughter and her fiancé decided to get married before his deployment to Korea instead of waiting for his return next year so we had only 6 WEEKS to prepare for the wedding. When I called Blue Sands Music, they were so helpful with selecting the music, their willingness to accept this performance with so little notice and not to mention it was Mother's Day weekend! There wasn't even time for a rehearsal, but you would never have known it since their talent and professionalism was spot on. My daughter is THRILLED with her wedding and I am so very thankful for Blue Sands Music helping me to make my daughter's wedding day a cherished memory.

I actually had a wine and cheese soiree and Blue Sands Music provided the music. The guests appeared to have enjoyed the music as much as they did the wine. I plan to host another event either late in the summer or the early fall. When I do, I hope that Blue Sands Music will be available for my event. Thank You Blue Sands Music.....

Blue Sands, an ensemble of wonderful talent that blends together well, seasoned with skill and delivering a feast of excellent music. We booked a quartet for our 25th wedding anniversary. We weren't sure what we were gonna do for music and then someone suggested that we should use Blue Sands Music. They told us about a musician who performed at a previous event from group Blue Sands Music. We contacted them quickly. Although it was short notice, they were able to perform for us and they were very helpful. With their orchestra schedule, we were happy that they were able to play for us.
They even played LONGER than we actually paid for their services! They played at least 50+ songs, they played with a singer from the family during the toast, and everything was done without a hitch. We have several events and have used them since the anniversary in different ensembles. I highly recommend this group. Go Blue Sands!!!!! If we make it to 50 years - that's who we'll use.

Ruby and the Blue Sands team delivered beautiful music on our big day! We hired Blue Sands to play during our ceremony, and also during cocktail hour in our reception venue across the street. Blue Sands has a great repertoire of music on hand, and each piece they performed was skillfully played. Ruby was a pleasure to work with in terms of setting up/organizing items for the day-of. My husband and I were referred to Blue Sands Music by our wedding planner. We were very pleased with Blue Sands. From the time I spoke with Ruby , concluding with the beautiful music for the wedding day the service was fantastic. The musicians were on time, dressed appropriately and they sounded amazing. Blue Sands played the music for my wedding ceremony. We hired a violinist and pianist. They are very talented musicians and the ceremony music was absolutely incredible. They have a wide range of music selections and if they don't have it, they will get it for you. Due to their busy schedules, it can be difficult to get in contact with them. I found that email was the best way to communicate. I also encourage you to follow up phone calls with an email to ensure everything you discuss is confirmed. We had one miscommunication about a song prior to the wedding day, but they were still prepared on my wedding day and were able to perform all of the songs and practice with the two people who sang in my wedding. Overall, I was very pleased with their work and my ceremony was perfect. I highly recommend these musicians.

We used Blus Sands Music for a violin and cello for our wedding ceremony. They arrived promptly at the ceremony and played wonderfully. Ruby was very helpful and a pleasure to work with.

It did take a little while for them to respond back to me but once they did contact me they were extremely professional and willing to work with my fiance and I to get the music that we want for our special day!

We hired Blue Sands as a string quartet during our ceremony and cocktail hour. They played beautifully and have a large repertoire of classical, jazz and Christian with some contemporary. Every time I spoke with Ruby, the main contact, she was extremely nice and helpful. However, getting in touch with her was the difficult part. I normally had to email and call multiple times to get a response. It would usually be weeks before I would hear from her. She also told me that they knew lots of modern pieces, but when I asked for a list there was nothing on it but classical and oldies like Frank Sinatra. I asked repeatedly for a list of more contemporary music, but never got one. She gave me a few examples over the phone and I found some free sheet music online which I sent to her. Overall, they were a little stressful to deal with but it worked out in the end. If you are looking for a good value and don't mind a few extra headaches, Blue Sands is a good choice.

I chose blue sands music to play at my ceremony. We had originally booked a cello and a violin but Ruby suggested that replacing the cello with a guitar would sound really good too. The problem was that the guitarist was not available for our date, so we decided to get the violin/cello duet as originally planned. 3 days before the wedding Ruby e mailed me saying that the guitarist would be available, but I answered saying I wanted to go with the cello/violin plan that I had requested since day 1 of planning my wedding. I assumed that 3 days before the wedding, the cello and violin musicians had rehearsed together for two special request songs that they had to learn to play , and I didn't want to make any change. Brides dont easily make changes for their ceremony 3 days before the wedding. Anyways, as I'm getting ready to walk down the aisle, what do I hear? A guitar and a violin, no cello. I'm disappointed that Ruby did not fulfilled my request on my wedding day. Of course, the ceremony was beautiful, but when the bride has a plan in mind and pays for it, it should be delivered. The overall experience with blue sands was good , except on the wedding day which is the most important day.

Communication and Pricing Clarity were a Challenge

I booked Blue Sands Music for my wedding, signed a contract, and paid a deposit with the expectation that communication and planning would continue to become clearer as the wedding date approached.

Early in the process, I was told that response times would typically be within 24–48 hours. In my experience, responses often took longer than that, particularly when I reached out with questions about logistics, pricing, or next steps. As we moved closer to the wedding date, this made planning feel more difficult than anticipated.

Well in advance of the wedding, I sent a detailed email and expectations document outlining the full wedding-day timeline, specific song selections, and multiple video references to clearly illustrate the style and experience we were hoping to create. The response I received indicated that we would discuss everything after the holidays, and the document itself was not substantively addressed at that time.

After the holidays, I reached out again and attempted to pay the remaining balance on the already-signed contract. It was during this outreach that I first learned there could be additional costs related to sheet music. This possibility had not been communicated earlier, which caused uncertainty for me as a client.

When I later reached out to formally cancel services and explained that one of my reasons was ongoing uncertainty about the final price—especially given that I had already booked the service and signed a contract for a specific amount—that was the only time I was informed that certain music requests were being provided as a “favor.” This was the first time that framing had been communicated to me, despite my prior attempts to seek clarification via text message and phone conversations.

There was also some confusion regarding which saxophonist would be performing on the wedding day. I had previously been told a different name during an earlier conversation and only became aware of the change during a phone call when I was introduced to a musician whose name had not been previously mentioned. While substitutions may be common in the industry, the lack of proactive communication added to my uncertainty.

When I expressed these concerns as part of my reason for canceling, I was told that the contract allowed for musician replacement if needed. However, my understanding of the contract language was that substitutions applied in the event of injury, illness, or sudden unavailability, and no such circumstance had been communicated to me at that time. This added to my discomfort moving forward.

I also requested a FaceTime or Zoom call multiple times, which did not occur. When a phone call did eventually happen, I personally felt that I was leading the conversation. It did not appear that the previously sent document or video references had been reviewed, and the interaction felt disengaged. From my perspective, I had to push the conversation forward rather than being guided by the professional I had hired.

After one clear and professional conversation with another company, I felt significantly more confident and decided to cancel services. When I later expressed my concerns, I was told that leaving a negative review could be considered “slander,” which was surprising. This review is not intended to slander, but to provide constructive feedback and to help other couples make informed decisions as they plan their weddings.

This review reflects my personal experience and opinion, based solely on my interactions and communication. Others may have had different experiences, but for me, clear communication, pricing clarity, and professionalism, especially once a contract is signed and the wedding date is approaching, were essential, and I did not feel those needs were met.
