Highly Recommend Blu Bamboo!

Highly Recommend Blu Bamboo!! I had my wedding at the Islander Resort, right around the corner from Blu Bamboo last month and was so happy with our experience. When I came down to the Keys for my tasting at the venue in October, Cindy was able to fit me in for a hair and makeup trial the next day when my previously booked independent artist canceled last minute. She then was able to accommodate me and my four bridesmaids, and my mother in law by working her scheduling magic for the day of our event in March. I ended up having a blowout the day before my wedding added on as well, and had nothing but wonderful and professional interactions throughout my experience there. My hair and makeup looked exactly how I pictured it, and the stylists were so kind and thoughtful to my party throughout our time there. I would 100% recommend Blu Bamboo for any and all styling needs in Islamorada!

Great experience, as always!

I've been going to Blu Bamboo for years, but had an extra special experience before our wedding in June 2021. The day before my sister and I went to the salon to get a mani/pedi and were pampered and had a great experience as always.
On the day of our wedding, Heather and Alexis came to Cheeca to do hair and makeup for myself and the wedding party. Both women were amazing - professional, talented and fun, too! Our hair and make up looked great and stayed put despite the wedding and reception being outside on an extremely hot summer day.
Thanks to Cindy and the rest of the staff for the wonderful pampering and styling for my big day!

Had my trial hair and make up, wedding day hair and make up and all of my bridesmaids hair and make up completed here. I personally dealt with Alexa for hair and Heather for makeup. They were just wonderful, absolutely great in listening to my ideas and combining them with their skill. Cindy was so patient with scheduling all the girls too, she made it so easy and everyone was able to get what they wanted done, even at the last minute. But really everyone at this salon is amazing. On the day of there were several girls working together to get my girls ready and looking their best. They listened to everyone's wants and needs and made sure everyone was comfortable with their look and not only looked amazing but felt amazing. Each and everyone one of my girls, my mom and myself came out of that salon so beautiful. We were showered with compliments all day. The hair and make up stayed in place through the wee hours of the morning. I even had a trash the dress the next day and felt like my hair and make up looked exactly like it did the night before. We brought a couple bottles of champagne and orange juice to make mimosas as we were getting ready which really helped everyone loosen up and relax. I can't say enough about Blu Bamboo and the wonderful staff there. Thank you all for making us so beautiful and so relaxed on one of the most important days of my life!

Blu Bamboo did my massage and my nails, along with my bridal party. I fell asleep in my massage, which has never happened to me before by Karen. I can assure this is a MUST the day before your wedding. My nails came out perfectly by Dineke and Jessica was as sweet as can be. Blu Bamboo is so serene and truly relaxing. A must do for your big day in the upper keys!

The girls at Blu Bamboo did a wonderful job on the hair and makup for my bridal party. I did a lot of research and it is definitely the best salon is the Islamorada-Key Largo area. Everyone was very nice and helped me feel calm on the wedding day.

The salon and spa are gorgeous! The staff was courteous and professional. The women who did my wedding hair and makeup did an amazing job! I was so pleased and I felt gorgeous! The lady who did my hair recommended things to do while we were there after the wedding for our honeymoon and I loved the place so much we went back to have a couples massage to relax after the wedding festivities were over. Next time I go I will try their pedicure and possibly other services.

I loved Blu Bamboo!!! I spent most of the day of my wedding there - manicure, pedicure, hair and makeup. Everything was done so well and they actually even helped my MoH get me lunch so I wouldn't go to ceremony starving. My hair looked perfect and lasted all night on the beach. My make-up was beautiful and exactly the natural look I was going for. She also helped me trouble shoot to keep it that way all night. I couldn't be more pleased. They also did hair for several other guests and accommodated almost all my female guests to have their nails done when another salon fell through at the last moment. It's the only place to go in my option for a wedding on the Upper Keys.

I had Jamie (updo specialist) and Monica (makeup artist) work on me. They both were great, lovely and fun girls. Jamie even did a happy dance when she got a giant orchid to stick in my hair. They both were great to work with, and it was a friendly environment. Their calm energy helped the nerves and both thought it helpful that I brought in pictures since I didn't have a chance to do a rehearsal since I was an out of town bride. I would highly recommend them!!
I also will note that when you're getting married on the ocean side in Islamorada, don't bother getting a "down" do- it's just too windy and humid and the curls will fall out. Mine stayed perfectly all night, but it was shellacked and had 59 pins in it!! :)
(side note- rebecca who also reviewed them noted an unfriendly manager- we too had the same experience. I really just wanted her to stay away from the hair room because she didn't have positive energy. Maybe she only likes locals? the other stylists were great)

Jamie did my hair for my wedding and all I can say is wow! We had done a trial about six months before, which I loved, but she just improved it even more than I could have imagined. The style perfectly suited me and my dress, and she even stayed cool when the hair flowers took forever to show up. My makeup artist (whose name I can't remember, eep!) also did a fantastic job, especially since I had not done a trial with her. She keyed off my suggestions and made me look so glamorous! Plus it all stayed on through the Florida heat and humidity.

The atmosphere at the salon is calm and relaxing. My sisters in law and I had our nails done the day before and it was divine. I highly recommend them!

I had my hair colored at blu bamboo in islamorada in nov. 2012. It was an emergency
to fix a disaster color I had received days before. Heather from the salon did a spectacular job making me gorgeous again. I will be back in the future to get my hair beautiful and be treated like family.

I booked these guys for the day of my wedding. I had seven bridesmaids, my mom and three aunts that made appointments to have their hair, nails and toes done. (I also had a massage on that day and was very pleased with it!) We were all pleased with our nails and toes. The ladies were very sweet and did a great job. They even put little jewels on the nails and toes of the little girls that were in the wedding (which made their day!). However, some of my girl's hair styles didn't stay very well and weren't done as well as we had hoped. There was one lady (she seemed to be a manager but I'm not sure who she was) that wasn't rude but wasn't overly friendly. We found this odd considering that we booked up the salon all day and gave them so much business!

I contacted Blu Bamboo to book stylists for myself and bridal party. I was told the stylist was out of town and that I would be contacted within the next week to find out whether she was available. After I never heard back, I called again. I was then told that they would get back to me by the end of the week. A week passed and there was still no word. I called again and had to leave a message. Six weeks later I still have not heard back from them. It is very unprofessional to not return calls. I would definitely not recommend booking them for you wedding.
