Amazing photographers
We recently had the absolute pleasure of working with Bia and Jason for our wedding this August. Not only are Bia and Jason amazing photographers, but they are two of the kindest, most upbeat people. They went above and beyond to take the time to get to know my husband and I as well as our families and bridal party, and it showed in our pictures! Everyone felt comfortable and at ease during the entire process, which in turn led to the most beautiful photos. Bia and Jason were extremely accessible and communicative leading up to our wedding and were always happy to answer any questions we had. They are a true joy to work with, and we are forever grateful! -

I can’t recommend Bia and Jason enough! Besides being amazing people, they listened and executed our vision perfectly. They are very professional and walked us through each step of the process so we were prepared on our wedding day. They are such genuine and kind people who truly invest themselves in making your wedding day perfect. It ended up raining day of and they still managed to work with what they could and our photos turned out more amazing than we could have ever hoped! I highly recommend them, you will not be disappointed!! -

Amazing experience!
We had the great pleasure of working with Bia Sampaio during our wedding weekend. Aside from taking beautiful photos she also made us laugh and feel very comfortable. The photos Bia took are beautiful beyond what we could ever expect and they truly capture the happiness of our wedding weekend. We can not recommend her enough and we would love to work with her again. -

My daughter was told about Bia by a friend. She did a great deal of online research and decided she was interested in having her as the wedding photographer. My daughter, her then fiancée, my husband and I all met with her. My daughter admired a veil worn by a bride in one of the pictures Bia showed us. Bia offered to contact the bride to find out where it was purchased. We walked away from this meeting impressed both with her beautiful work but also with her thoughtfulness. We knew we wanted to work with her. We were impressed that her package included engagement pictures so she could get to know the couple. She cheerfully worked with us before and during the event to be sure the pictures included everyone we cared about, a task not so easy because at every event of this type we take a family picture of approximately 50 people. Bia's pictures reflected the beauty and joy of the ceremony and the party. In addition Bia was exceptionally kind as she worked on the albums. My daughter and her husband moved out of the country right after the wedding and my husband was very ill. Bia was patient and unflappable as she worked with both long distance and erratically timed communications. After more than a year (our problems not Bia's), we have our albums. They are magnificent reminders of a very special day. We highly recommend her and her work. -

Bia photographed my wedding on 12/5/15. From start to finish she was professional, accommodating, and overall a pleasure to work with. Truly the best. Not only is her photography sublime, but Bia is a truly irreplaceable partner. Our wedding day was not without its hiccups - and there were a lot - but throughout, Bia captured the special moments and helped to keep us calm. Whatever we needed on the wedding day - from making sure a server brought my husband food - to helping the event manager bring our cake onto the floor - Bia was on top of everything. She is truly invested in her couples, and you can feel her passion for you and her work, from the moment you meet until she delivers your files (and even after!) Following the wedding, my Mom told me she couldn't have imagined having anyone else but Bia being such an integral part of our big day.
Bonus: Bia's packaging is beautiful and is just an example of her impeccable attention to detail.

Jason was a pleasure to work with - He directed and influenced the locations, photo setup, preliminary checklist prior to the wedding. He has the entire event under control. When the wedding started - he was invisible to guests - taking amazing photos and capturing every single moment. He talent for capturing different angle artistic shots is amazing. Bia and Jason were nothing short of fantastic. My bride and I approached several photographers for our wedding, and Bia was not only the most amiable and helpful, but she also offered the most comprehensive and best-priced photo package among all of them.
Most important, Bia was extremely patient, understanding and put us at ease throughout the whole process. Bia's flexibility and guidance helped bring out the festivities and emotions in our photos, despite all of the crazy logistics that go into most weddings.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bia! We spent a lot of time researching a photographer for our big day and we could not have ended up with a better person! Bia was incredible to work with on my wedding day. She has a wonderful presence and everyone enjoyed having her around, she was never intrusive. She also worked well with the videographer, someone she had not previously worked with for any events. Bia brought her husband as the second photographer and my husband and his groomsmen liked working with him as well. Bia also kept in mind speed when taking the family formals and wedding party formals. My husband & I did not see each other before the wedding, so it was important we didn't miss too much of our cocktail hour and she worked through the photos quickly AND they turned out beautiful. Overall, even without seeing the photos, Bia's a star to have as a photographer on your wedding day.
I just got the digital album and I'm blown away. Her work is beautiful and she captured the day wonderfully. The family photos are beautiful and elegant, without being stuffy. At the beginning of my day, I was a little stiffer for photos, but Bia was able to get me to relax and you can see my expression loosen up as the photos continued. Not only did I get to enjoy my wedding, I now have the most beautiful photos to remember the day. Thank you Bia! -

From our first meeting through the edited images, Bia was absolutely amazing! Bia has an intoxicating mix of warm energy and immense talent. The woman behind the camera is just as important as how the pictures come out. Bia has this amazing ability to make everyone feel comfortable and confident. She made everyone feel that it was okay to be silly, or sexy, or just themselves! She took my direction and inspiration pictures and ran with it. She was on the ball the whole day!
My fiance and I were planning from our of state and relied heavily on email to communicate with her. She was fabulous at being prompt and professional through the whole process. The morning of we all gathered at 6am to start getting ready and Bia was there once we all got set up to snap away! She captured so many sweet and precious moments that I didn't even realize she was getting. The ceremony pictures came out so beautiful and she captured some amazing little glances between my husband and I. The photos of the bridal party and to die for and she captured hilarious moments on the dance floor. The detail shots of the tent are ones that I will cherish because it's so hard as the bride and groom to see it all and soak it in with SO much going on! She created two mini albums that fir perfectly in my purse to show my coworkers and girlfriends. Everyone had LOVED the pictures and the alums. So smart!
I can't rave enough about Bia. She made me feel so comfortable and most importantly she made the endless picture taking in freakishly cold weather...FUN! THANK YOU, BIA! -

Bia was amazing! We hired her on the recommendation of a friend, who loved her as well. She is charming, friendly, professional, focused, and does great work. Our wedding was a little over a month ago and I already have the proofs! My only complaint is that I am having a hard time choosing the photos for the album because I love too many of them. As a person in the wedding industry, I have worked with Bia before on other weddings. So when my big day came, I knew I wanted to hire her. I knew all my brides said she was great, but it wasn't until I worked with her myself that I found out that she was way beyond great - she is truly amazing, the absolute best! I felt so taken care of and felt she truly understood not just the look I wanted for my photos, but how to make sure my entire family and my husband's family felt comfortable, looked great, and had a wonderful time during our family photos. That is saying a lot considering my brother NEVER smiles and my niece is a wild child who cannot sit still for a second. All of the getting ready shots and candids were spectacular. I look at my photos every single day and cannot find one out of the thousands that I truly do not love. As a wedding planner, I always recommended Bia. As I bride, I recommend her even more. -

If you're looking for a wedding photographer, you can stop your hunt now. I can not say enough nice things about what a phenomenal photographer Bia is. She has a true gift for capturing the emotion of the moment and the essence of the event.
Early on in our search for a photographer, a friend of ours gave us a piece of advice that really stuck with us. He said, "Just remember that the person you're going to spend the most time with besides your future husband will be your photographer. They are with you even in seemingly private moments. Just make sure you like their personality and want to be around them!" When I went to meet Bia, we had already interviewed a few photographers who just didn't do it for us. I went to meet Bia alone and after we finished, I called my husband and said that the look was over and that I'd booked the photographer!
From the very beginning Bia was great at listening to what our desires were for our wedding pictures and suggesting ideas that would make our pictures spectacular. On the day of the wedding, Bia and her assistant were punctual, and went right to work putting everyone at ease in front of the camera. Bia was great at handling all of the family dynamic that come with two large families.
We received our wedding pictures about a month and a half after the wedding. We were both overjoyed with the results. The pictures are gorgeous and as we went through the photos, we loved the next picture more than the last.
If you are looking for a photographer to capture your wedding in a photo-journalistic style and to really capture the essence of your wedding and the emotion of the day, Bia is the photographer for you. I would highly recommend her. -

There are no words to express how much we love Bia. Not only is she an amazing photographer, but she is such a wonderful person to work with! Within two weeks of our wedding we received the proofs and Bia's work blew us away. Her photogaphs are so beautiful and have allowed us to relive our special day. For that, we will be forever grateful. We were especially lucky to have Bia's talented husband Jason as the second photographer. In addition to being personable and professional, the quality of Bia's photography--both in black and white and color--is exceptional. From the mini-album she produced within a few weeks of our wedding to the gorgeous wedding album which showcased all aspects of the event, Bia captured the true essence of our celebration with family and friends in memorable fashion.

Bia was fantastic to work with. I chose her because she was the photographer for a friends wedding and I absolutely loved her photos and wanted the same quality and feel for my wedding.
The weeks leading up to a wedding can feel stressful and Bia calmed my nerves and made me feel like I had nothing to worry about. She arrived ready to go and made taking photos really fun through her energy and enthusiasm yet also was very professional.
I also loved that Bia took charge and was a thought partner to where we should take photos versus just going along with what we said if she knew that wasn't right. She's the expert and knows exactly what to do. She also was really helpful in planning the logistics for the day ahead of time to ensure everything went smoothly and there would be no rushing.
The photographer is really the one vendor that you still work with even after the wedding is over so I think its really important to choose someone that is enjoyable to work with and I definitely found that with Bia. I also love that she uses film in addition to digital which adds an artistic feel to the photos.
The only tough part has been trying to choose among all the amazing photos that Bia took for my album! Bis will definitely be the person I will call for future photos. -

Bia is an extraordinary photographer on numerous levels. I would not only recommend her to everyone whose wedding is going to contain an ounce of emotion and spontaneity but I would also add: you only have one shot at your wedding photos - the decision is really important. You will not regret picking Bia, and here is why:
Her photographs manage to capture not just how people look, but also their emotions, their reactions and expressions (e.g. while listening to toasts), those small and unscripted intimate moments that would go forgotten if not immortalized on film, and hilarious moments like the bride's sister imitating her kissing the groom over his other shoulder. As a result of this, I (the bride) can go back and relive the entire wedding - both things I saw, e.g. my own reaction seeing my mother's gorgeous dress while getting ready, my brother somehow high-fiving me at the end of the ceremony - and things I didn't see, like my mom's ear-to-ear grin walking with my brother down the aisle, or my parents watching the best man talk about my new husband - by looking through Bia's pictures. In other words, Bia seemed to be everywhere and yet I had no idea. Further, I gave her very little instruction about who to look for and focus on, and clearly she didn't need it.
Second, Bia did a brilliant job of conveying the overall atmosphere and mood of the event, which to me means blending the formal and expected with the less formal and unplanned. She took the expected family photographs in several places and with in all sorts of light, and then once she found something she loved, would experiment with it - using different cameras, b/w, different poses etc. But somehow she also did the same thing with the more spur-of-the-moment images, capturing fleeting expressions or grins with the same skill you see in the posed photographs. Thus, at the end, I have a spectacular combination of posed and more candid. Further, while everyone's taste is different, no one wants hokey stupid posed photographs and there was not a one in my 1300 pictures. Rather, Bia made posing, which few love doing, fun.
Third, as for the photographs themselves, they are simply gorgeous. I have so many beautiful ones to choose from picking the album is proving impossible. I think my husband is handsome as hell but I will not begin to pretend I usually look awesome in all photographs, but somehow, too many of them are beautiful. And some of the photos are really artistic, e.g. looking at the ceremony from the back of the church through a wrought-iron gate, or me and my father standing (very small) under the church's enormous organ, in black and white before we walked down the aisle - just fantastic shots.
And in addition to all of the above - the skill, the understanding of atmosphere and the ability to translate it onto film in both posed and spontaneous shots, the knowledge of how to get people to relax and look their best even though they're doing posed photographs - Bia was pure pleasure to work with. For one thing, someone who isn't warmhearted and fun could not take the quality of pictures she does; you can tell by the photos that she loves people. But she was also unassuming, ever-present without being obtrusive, dead honest that I should put more eyeliner on when I was getting ready or that my hair would look better in a series if I did something with a piece of it (etc), creative without being odd, and funny.
Lastly, in terms of logistics, she was extremely responsive and completely reliable. She also provided all sorts of advice about how long a certain number of family shots would take, whether we should do x,y and z before or after the ceremony, and even, as I mentioned above, how much eyeliner I should have on in order to look human but also look fabulous in the pictures.
I picked her because she had photographed a good friend's wedding years ago and I loved the fun yet formal quality of the photos. We considered the best photographers from Philadelphia, and I went with Bia because I had seen her work and I remembered how much fun my friend had had working with her - and how happy she had been with the pics. I had a sense that I would relate to her and this would make the pictures that much better. My friend got pictures that were very her, and I got pics that were very me, and EXACTLY what I wanted. In short, Bia nailed it. I would recommend her to everyone. -

Words cannot express how grateful we are to Bia for making our day so special. Her amazing talent speaks for itself, and her way with our family and guests was just as impressive. We felt extra lucky because her super talented husband Jason who is also a photographer worked with her on our day. Not only are Bia's photos fabulous, she's fabulous to have around. She really felt like a close friend at our wedding, getting all the shots we could have imagined without ever seeming in the way. She got our formal shots done quickly and painlessly, captured the best of the spontaneity at our reception, and even carried our champagne during our portrait session—now that's service! ;) Our engagement shoot was such fun, too. All of our pictures just feel like they show the best stuff of us. We couldn't recommend Bia more highly, and if we're lucky enough to have kids, we'll be back for some of those fun family photos. -

Bia was recommended to us by another photographer, so we knew that we would be in great hands. However, she completely exceeded our expectations! She is wonderful to work with, very sweet, flexible, and she stayed at our wedding until close to the end (most photographers do not do that and leave sometimes before cake cutting-boo!). Not Bia!

Bia is OUTSTANDING, not only as a photographer, but as a human being! She was soooo attentive to my needs and her photographs turned out so beautifully! I was so happy to have found her! She is truly an artist with a camera. Not only did she shoot digital, but used film as well, 35mm, larger format on a Haaselblad (I think that's how you spell it), and on her Holgas. We got all the traditional family photos but also got a lot of artistic shots which are really more the style we like! Bia's personality is so calming and lovely, you would be lucky to have her around you at your wedding! A real gem! -

Bia is an incredibly talented photographer! We were lucky to have her photograph our wedding at the NY Botanical Garden as well as our engagement shoot in Central Park. She has such a wonderful warm happy energy. I am pretty shy and generally not comfortable having my picture taken but she put me at ease. The total package matters to me, and Bia is just that -- not only are her pictures beautiful, she has a great balance of being both professional and fun, adds lovely little touches (like a mini photo booklet), and seems to genuinely love what she does which just adds assurance that she puts 100% into her work. I highly recommend Bia! -

Bia photographed our wedding in May of this year and did an incredible job. She was fun, thorough, inconspicuous, professional...I can't recommend her highly enough. We received DVDs with all if our images on them- there were tons of pictures with a variety of cameras, lenses, color/b&w. Our friends also used Bia for their wedding (she came highly recommended from them) and their pictures look amazing as well- -

Bia Sampaio is a talented, energetic and wonderful photographer. I'm not comfortable in front of the camera but Bia is such a pleasure to have around and made me feel at ease immediately. Jason shot our wedding and was a pleasure to work with and to be around. He has an easy way about him that made the chaos of the day seem calm and relaxed. I never felt the need to "manage" him as he took quiet charge, did his thing and got the most beautiful images of our wedding. I found Bia because she did another friend's wedding. Of course many friends have pretty wedding books in 30 final pictures or so, but I'd seen all 500 or so of this friend's proofs and thought the entire collection was amazing. That sold me Bia was the person I wanted to do our day. I loved my own pictures even more, her style was perfect for us. She offered complete flexibility, we're NYC but she shot in the Hamptons all weekend for us. I'm so glad she was the one capturing that great couple of days for us! -

I'm a wedding photographer myself, and so when it came around to having my own wedding, the photos were super important to me. Bia and her husband Jason were the absolute first people I thought of when considering who I wanted to document the day. It's not just about their photos which truly are classically beautiful works of art, but it's also about the way they put everyone they're photographing in such happy moods. Bia was worth the investment to capture or special day. We could not have asked for more. She was willing to take part in whatever it was we wanted to achieve. She traveled across the country, scouted several locations for us, and showed up on time and prepared for everything. She had several forms of media she used through out the day and all of them provided us with esquisite imagery. She had great advice and made me and my husband feel at ease in front of the lense.
She sent us our contact sheets in a timely fashion and beautifully edited our video set to music with out any needed direction from us. She has been so patient with the our delayed orders for prints. She has quickly processed all of our orders and is always quick with correspondence.
We could not have picked a better photographer. We hope that others will be as fortunate to work with such an artist. -

We of course wanted a great photographer to take photos of our wedding, but it was also very important to us to have a warm, caring and thoughtful person that would participate and share our special day. Bia went out of her way to photograph our wedding which was more than two hours away. From the moment we met her I knew I would like her to be at my wedding. When she was photographing, she was never ever intrusive - we barely knew she was there and somehow she captured every amazing moment.
The final product was beyond our expectations. Bia even sent us some additional items that we didn't order - as a gift! The tiny flip book and framed photos she sent us are probably my favorite mementos of the day. Her style and taste is impeccable and I trusted her professional opinion because I knew whatever she chose would come out beautifully.

Bia Sampaio did a superb job for our daughter's wedding1 We met with her early in the planning process, and liked her immediately. She is very personable, and put us at ease right away. She clearly enjoys meeting and working with her clients. About one month before the wedding, she discussed final plans and details with us via phone, and was always responsive to email questions. On the day of the wedding, she and her husband were with us from noon until the end of the evening, at about 10:30 pm. Between the two of them, they captured every special moment throughout the day, made sure to photograph guests as well as the bridal party, and completed most of the formal pictures before the ceremony so that the bride and groom were able to attend their own cocktail hour and enjoy the reception. When choosing a photographer, make sure you will be comfortable sharing your special day with that person. Bia is an excellent choice! -
