Amazing, just Amazing

Ben is like no other photographer. He captures the most special moments and there is never an awkward smile. (He actually doesn't allow for them, so get ready to laugh all day) One of our biggest things for booking a photographer was that we had to enjoy hanging out with them - they are with you the whole day. Ben not only is talented (along with his right hand man that day, Rak) but we had a blast with them. We laughed, and enjoyed every minute with them and from the sneak peak he gave us - it truly shows. We are so grateful to have met Ben and worked with him. He made our day EXTRA special and I could not thank him enough for that.

Beautiful photos!

Ben was an absolute pleasure to work with and I can’t say enough about how grateful we were to have him and Karis capture our wedding! His work speaks for itself and was the reason we initially reached out to him. It was very important to us to not only have someone whose style we loved but also someone with whom we clicked with and felt comfortable with. Throughout our engagement session and wedding, Ben kept it light and funny, joking around and bringing out the brightest smiles from all of us. Highly recommend Ben! Perfectly captured our day!

Cannot recommend Ben enough! We did our engagement pictures with Ben ahead of our wedding and they were 1000/10. He is a master at finding the perfect lighting and did the perfect mix of the more modern photos we love and the more traditional ones our parents/grandparents love. My husband and I are both terrible at posing but Ben kept us comfortable and laughing our entire wedding day and made our photos look so natural! He is hilarious and brought such positive energy the entire day - everyone in our bridal party couldn’t say enough wonderful things about Ben! Ben even gave us a few preview physical prints during our reception which was such a beautiful touch! The sneak peeks Ben provided shortly after our wedding are SO incredible. We can't wait to see the full set of photos as we know they will be top notch! Can’t recommend Ben enough!

The BEST photographer

Ben Lau was the best Wedding Photographer -- highly highly recommend! From our Engagement Shoot to our Wedding Photos, everything came out beautifully! From the classic Wedding shots, to fun shots (cropping our Cat in a few) to artsy shots we didn't know we wanted. He's a pleasure to work with, keeping us laughing and having fun and at ease the whole time. He and his team are so responsive too -- which helps tremendously in the chaos of Wedding planning! From our first meeting, it was clear that he is a true creative who has an incredible talent for capturing the most special parts of one of the most important days of your life. every moment captured BEAUTIFULLY

Ben and his team have been incredible start to finish. For one thing - their photos were beyond stunning and perfectly captured the essence of our wedding, our families and our relationship. Beyond that, Ben and his team made everyone feel so comfortable and relaxed -- it was like the cameras weren't even there (but they were everywhere!). Just prior to our wedding I started getting anxious about... well, everything... including our day-of photo plan, and Ben graciously hopped on the phone and we chatted through all my preferences and hopes for the end product. The Complete Package

Ben and Anthony were our photographers for the wedding day and Abby helped coordinate. His package for us also included an engagement shoot.

Ben and his team go above and beyond when photographing your wedding. He helped us put together a schedule for the day of as well as listened to our requests and even worries. There's one thing that you really can't quantify when planning a wedding, and that's peace of mind. Ben and Anthony really helped us to not worry and just be able to enjoy our big day with their professionalism and amazing personalities. After receiving our photos, we couldn't be happier. We really can't thank them enough for helping us relive our wedding day endlessly through these photos.

Just the best!

As a wedding photographer myself, picking a photographer for my own day should have been difficult. But it wasn't, Ben & Karis were an easy decision. There was only going to be 5 people at our elopement and on top of amazing photos, I knew Ben & Karis would be there to make the day better and add to the incredible vibes which was super important to us. Ben and his team were AMAZING and made our day run so smoothly! They were so positive and were constantly cracking jokes to get us to genuinely smile in all the pictures. None of our pictures were awkward and I thought our portfolio was a picture combination of candid and traditional! After only being in Ben's presence twice I felt like he knew us forever... he remembered small details about our lives that we mentioned along the way which made working with him that much more special. Our engagement session was over a year before our wedding and he still remembered details of our love story, family, and childhood. ALSO he was so quick to return all our photos! He even gave us some polaroid prints that night which absolutely blew us away! I was in tears and showed them to everyone that night. I couldn't recommend Ben and his team more!

Super Fun and Creative Photographer!!

Ben was great. He was a fun presence to have around on our wedding day and went out of his way to get special photographs! I was looking for a photographer that had a more editorial/candid style and who wasn’t too light/airy/romantic but also not too dramatic - Ben is the perfect blend. We got all of the standard photos you would hope to get from a wedding and so many fun surprises in addition. He is super talented and we will cherish our photos for the rest of our lives! I would recommend him to my best friend.

Ben is simply the best! Not only is he an amazing photographer, but he is an amazing person as well. From the beginning, Ben and his team were extremely responsive, professional and KIND. He’s like salt. He brings your flavor out.

Ben is the greatest. Not only is he the best photographer, he’s an absolute gentleman and one of the funniest people I have ever met. His humor gets you to relax and that’s when he goes to work. If you’re not used to posing for pictures, no worries - Ben knows what he’s doing. If you let him do what he does best, his creativity and artistic eye will capture moments that you’ll look back on and be transported right back to. He also works with his wife Karis, who is amazing and they compete to see who gets the picture of the day. I recommend him to everyone I know. Our favorite vendor, our most valuable investment, and a lifelong friend

We first met Ben about 5 years ago when we got engaged and he stuck with us through personal tragedy, pandemics, and ultimately our church ceremony/vow renewal/backyard reception in August 2022. While the images that Ben and his team capture are exceptional in quality, it is the service that feels more like friendship that made this the best part of our planning experience. In an admittedly chaotic planning process that changed many, many times, we ultimately planned our day around whether or not Ben was available. He was that important to our planning process and end experience. At each point in the process he was understanding, thoughtful, and supportive.

On the day of the event, Ben captured gorgeous photos but also helped manage the stress levels of everyone around. He’s an expert in the human elements of a wedding and I am certain that no other photographer would have captured the quality of images that Ben did of my husband and I amid the chaos. We chose Ben and his team because of their expertise, kindness, and humor. When we received our images, we were blown away by his ability to capture the joy and levity of the day with our family and friends. We chose Ben as our photographer prior to choosing a venue as we knew we wanted him as our photographer. Ben and his wife, Karis (second shooter) brought a calm and efficient demeanor to our wedding day as we had a ton of family photos that our family wanted to take. LOOK NO FURTHER - Ben Lau is the one!!!

You only need one photographer and that is Ben Lau! His vision and the way he captures his photos are impeccable. I have never had such a great photographer than in Ben Lau. I knew Ben was the one when he returned back the Save the Date Photos and WOW!!! If you don't know what to do in photos, Ben will direct you and tell you what to do! Ben is top notch and patient! Even when people were screaming at him and getting in his way, he showed the utmost patience! i just love everything about him! If you don't use him for your photos, then you might as well just have a subpar event!!. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity when someone comes across ur life and understands the importance of that moment!!! There are not enough words i can say about Ben on how grateful we truly are! I will look at the pics he took forever!!!! We will forever be a customer as long as i have moments to capture!! His assistant Gabe was superb too! Hire Ben immediately! The best in the game!!! An Amazing Experience for My Wedding Day

There aren't enough words to possibly describe how amazing every photo that Ben snaps are. Ben captured my wedding day perfectly! Easily the best experience with a photographer to date! Cannot Recommend Ben Enough!!

Ben was an amazing wedding photographer. One of the key things that got our eye about Ben’s photos was the way that he captured the raw emotions and his true photojournalistic style and he did not disappoint.

From the first intake call he did, we felt at such ease with him. He made not just me but my fiancé laugh with his stellar dad jokes and we felt like we were talking to an old friend. That’s exactly how it felt during our engagement shoot in NYC, which also went above and beyond our expectations in terms of the attention to detail and time spent with us, the numbers of photos we got, and the quality of the company and conversations we had.    On the day of our wedding, Ben had just spent the previous night in the hospital and come to our venue to tell us that though he still had his hospital tag on, he’d still be shooting our wedding!! Against all our requests for him to rest he persisted that he would deliver on his contractual promise to be there for us on our big day. Can you talk about professionalism?! And despite all that he was going through, he still made us laugh, captured such beautiful and intimate moments for us, and did it in his classic Ben Lau style.

We could not recommend Ben enough! If you are looking for someone who will not just be your photographer but become your friend, fill your shoots with dad jokes and laughter, and capture all the moments - big or small - for you, he’s your guy!

Just hire Ben Lau!

BEN IS THE BEST! If you're looking for photos that are truly authentic to your wedding day, this is your guy. Aside from every photo he takes being stunning and perfect, he and his wife Karis are a dream to work with. They both felt like our friends from the moment we met them and they know how to get the job done. He answers emails almost immediately every time (a tough feat during this crazy busy wedding year!) and I never had to chase Ben for a single thing. We originally weren't going to do engagement photos (we're both camera shy), but when Ben explained its all a part of his process, we went for it. I'm so glad we did because the pictures came out awesome and got us so excited for our wedding day! Our wedding photos are beautiful and captured our day exactly as it happened. Ben is amazing!

Ben and his team (including his wife Karis) are the absolute best there is. From my very first phone call with him over 2 years ago, I could tell he was beyond professional, knowledgable, experienced, passionate about his work, and just a really awesome person! And we can say he's awesome with confidence- we got to know him well because we spent 2 hours in the car with him on our way to our engagement photos on top of Bear Mountain! Those engagement pictures turned out absolutely STUNNING and we've received endless amounts of compliments on them. Not only were our pictures stunning but we had the best experience working with Ben from day one through communication over a 2 year covid engagement/postponed wedding, to our unforgettable wedding day/night. Ben also truly knows how to handle the rowdiest of groups! A wedding party of 20 people, flower girl/ring bearer, LARGE families, a big wedding, etc. He remains calm, patient, comedic (we love his jokes!) and purposeful through it all. We would choose Ben & Karis over and over again! We can't recommend him enough can't wait to see what our wedding photos look like!

Ben is a composer in the art of photography. The entire experience with Ben Lau photography was unforgettably positive. From the engagement photo shoot to the record-long wedding day full of coverage, Ben and his team proved they had a knack for capturing the heart of each moment in their photographs.

We hired Ben to capture our day when we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID and our original photographer wasn't available. We ended up clicking with him way better than our first photographer and the photos were exactly what we wanted! Engagement and Wedding Photos

Ben and his wife Karis were an absolute pleasure to work with from the beginning. We were so happy with our engagement photos and couldn’t wait for them to capture our big day! However due to COVID we were unable to have our big wedding and instead found out just days before we were allowed a micro wedding with 30 people. Ben was by our side every step of the way. He was so flexible, understand and compassionate regarding our situation. We just received our photos and were blown away. He had a way of capturing our day and making us feel so special and beautiful given our crazy, unique, and last minute circumstances. Needless to say we cannot wait to work with Ben and Karis again!! There is no secret that we wanted to work with you since you photographed a wedding that i was in. Your patience and ability to remain calm in all the frantic moments showed me that you would be perfect for my wedding one day. On top of that, your passion for photography and knowledge of the craft as well as the beautiful photos you create made it an easy decision. So when that time came, we knew right away that our first call was to you. For our engagement shoot we talked about going on boardwalk rides to get really amazing shots and despite your insane fear of heights you responded DONE !! No questions asked, no matter how nauseous it made you. Their aren’t enough words to express our thanks and gratitude for all the CRAZY things you have done while working with us, including our 13.5 hour photo shoot / adventure/ road trip through sand dunes, Red Rock Canyon, alien brothels, a dry lake bed, a ghost town with jumping cacti, and finding Area 51. You two are the epitome of what it means to be truly genuine human beings. It is the reason that we loved having you shoot our wedding and even more so to share some unbelievable adventures with you. An amazing person and photographer!

Amazing!!!

We absolutely LOVED our experience with Ben Lau Photography! From the initial engagement session, Ben made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and kept us laughing all day. As a result, our photos were both natural in capturing joy and stunning in capturing the environment around us. Best Photographer Ever

Ben and Karis were the photographers for my brothers wedding and based not only on the quality of pictures but on how they are able to handle the groups of people they need to photograph, we were more than impressed. Ben was amazing from start to finish. My wife and I had our first date over burgers and doughnuts, so when we came across Ben's website, and he mentioned both, we knew he was our guy. Memorable!

Ben and Karis make a great team! They make you feel incredibly comfortable while being in front of a camera for hours and also teach you that silliness is key...especially when it comes to Ben’s cat puns :) I first came across Ben’s work scrolling through Facebook... I immediately knew he was going to be our wedding photographer, there wasn’t even a need to look into anyone else. I can truly say he (they) did not disappoint. Loving them more is not possible....

I cannot even begin to describe the happiness I feel when I think about our wedding photography & the choice we made to use Ben & Karis. It was a no-brainer. From the beginning, Ben made us feel like he was in it for us. He was extremely flexible when my husband tore his achilles tendon and we had to reschedule the engagement session not once, but twice! We went into the engagement session thinking this would be the most awkward day... who was this guy and how were we going to do this in 8 degree weather? Ben was charming and swift, and captured photos that I could not have imagined he would. Moving on to the wedding day, Ben and Karis were prompt, ready to go, and did not skip a beat. Without being intrusive at ALL, they were everywhere they needed to be. (Thank you, Karis Lau, for always fixing my train!) We received our photos about two months after the wedding. I've never seen such beautiful photography. They even put together a little sneak peak slideshow beforehand. I've received so many compliments on how gorgeous the photos are and cannot stop looking at them. He really captured every moment and even made a point to always get my good side ;) He makes full use of the good light, the shade, the shadows, the corners of rooms, the people in the background, the spaces between, the candid shots, the magic moments, all of it. He gets it. He gets what a bride and groom are looking for long after the wedding is over. I cannot imagine any other photographer executing it all the way he did. Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for capturing it all with such grace and beauty. There is no price on this kind of gift!

Incredible experience!

Ben and Karis were SUCH a pleasure to work with! We actually chose our wedding date based around their availability. Starting from the engagement shoot, Ben made sure my husband and I were comfortable. He cracked jokes and was so personable. He got to know us and gave such good direction. By the end of the day, we felt like professionals! We were beyond thrilled when we got our engagement photos. It was another confirmation that we had chosen the right photographer for our wedding day.

Prior to our wedding date, we met with Ben and Karis to go over a timeline and any final details. Both him and Karis are so experienced, that they assured us everything would be okay and that they were there to make sure of that. Worth every penny!

Their work truly speaks for itself, so rather than telling you about how beautiful and spectacular our photos came out (which they absolutely did!), let me tell you about the overall investment you are making when you choose Ben Lau Photography. After booking our venue, my now-husband and I knew that photography was our top priority. Like they say, after the dancing, the booze, and the cake, the one thing you get to take away are beautiful photos. From day one, we loved Ben – especially my husband - the inner-nerd in both of them sparked quite the bromance. He is always easy to talk to and he was incredibly responsive throughout the entire process. Our engagement shoot gave us the opportunity to really get to know Ben’s style. He made something that we thought would be awkward, incredibly fun and relaxing. Even when my silly husband decided to wear brand new dress shoes, Ben came through with a fresh pair of SOCKS so that my hubby could be more comfortable! Fast forward to our wedding weekend (that’s right, weekend, we had a Cambodian ceremony on Saturday, and American wedding and reception on Sunday), Ben and Karis were amazing. The Cambodian wedding at my parent’s house was chaotic to say the least, yet Ben and Karis were unphased. Our family even complimented how respectful they were to our traditions, as well as how quick and efficient they were at getting our must-have shots. Sunday was no different. Ben and Karis never missed a beat. They didn’t spend a long time posing us or making corrections. Ben never forgot a family member and Karis captured every little detail. Everything was so organized and my husband and I were able to relax and enjoy our best day ever. TLDR; When you choose Ben Lau Photography, you are not only choosing to have beautiful photos of your special day. You are choosing two professionals who quickly become friends. You are choosing to not have to worry about the guys’ bowties. You are choosing dad jokes that will even make your FIL chuckle. You are choosing laying on the ground, somewhere in the bushes, mind-palace searching angles that you won’t get anywhere else. Calling all Brides in search of the Best Photographer ever with the funniest jokes! BEN is your guy! By far photography was my top priority for the wedding because when it is all said and done the only thing you have left is your wedding photos. So SPEND THE MONEY! He is worth every penny. I was fortunate to find Ben through my one of my besties weddings and after working with him when I was in her wedding I knew before I was even engaged I wanted him to capture our happily ever after! Where do I begin with telling you how awesome Ben is?! We had so much fun with Ben that I sometimes forget he is our photographer. He knows just the right things to say to make you smile and laugh naturally so he can capture those moments. What is worst than those forced and unnatural smiles in any pictures? Photography was my top priority for the wedding and knowing how picky I am with pictures, I was fortunate to find Ben on my extensive search on Google. We loved his work and knew he was our photographer! We booked him right away after our first call. Ben and his wife Karis are wonderful and were always responsive and helpful to any questions we had making the process so much easier. We had our first glimpse of how great Ben is during our complimentary engagement shoot. He made sure we got the best angles and photos by adjusting himself on the floor, behind a fountain, whatever you can think of it, he would do just to get that perfect shot. He made it so fun and easy for us by giving us all the guidance we need. Ben really does have a talent for capturing the natural moments filled with so much emotions. Ben (and his wife Karis) are amazing photographers! Not only is their work phenomenal quality, creative, and unique, but they are so helpful, professional, and fun to work with. My husband and I hired them to do our wedding photos on 8/10/18 (which we can't wait to see!), but Ben also did an engagement shoot with us which gave us a preview into what it would be like to work with him (amazing!). Besides an amazing quality of work, the thing that was most important to us was being comfortable with our photographer - considering this person is going to be by your side pretty much constantly on the most important day of your life it's definitely something to seriously consider, and what's amazing about Ben + Karis is they really put you at ease. You can count on them to ensure you will get beautiful photos that capture the most important moments of your special day, but you can also count on them to make you laugh and ensure you're having fun throughout the process. I'm a pretty particular person, and I like to explore all of my options before choosing one...but with Ben Lau Photography all I needed was to look at some of their work online...and without researching other photographers, my gut just told me to choose them. And I made the right choice. Ben and Karis met my expectations (which can be unreasonably high sometimes). They were super responsive and professional from the first day we communicated to the last. Since I had no clue what I was doing with wedding planning, Ben was super helpful and supportive with figuring out the details (even if it wasn't photography related).

I HATE photographers who stand right in front of the bride and groom during the ceremony and blocks everything for the guests. Somehow Ben and Karis got beautiful shots without being obtrusive. Despite being very ill on the day of my wedding Ben did a wonderful job.

If you want a seamless experience with photographers that know what they're doing and produce beautiful work. Choose to work with Ben Lau Photography. Worth every penny!

**two more things I have to mention to prove how awesome Ben and Karis are. I noticed that Ben didn't have one of my accessories in any of the wedding photos, so he offered to meet with me again (like a year after the wedding) to take photos of the accessories. And then it took me (not them) 2 years to get my act together and sort out the photos for the wedding album. And the photos are even more beautiful in a 12x12 album! Thank you Ben & Karis!!!

Chemistry & personality are key with finding a wedding photographer. The people you choose to photograph you are sharing in some of the most private, intimate, emotional moments of your big day. When we were looking for our wedding photographer we did a lot of research. We were looking for a unique style as well as a someone who wouldn't be overwhelmed with the amount of children we had in our wedding. (We had over 14 kids involved). We would absolutely recommend Ben and Karis to anyone looking for a wedding photographer! A friend recommended us to Ben and Karis and we couldn't be happier that they did. Ben was by far the easiest vendor to work with. We knew he was a great fit from our first meeting with him. Throughout the process he was professional and always willing to answer any questions we had along the way. Both our engagement and wedding pictures came out beautiful! We have gotten so many compliments from friends and family on them. We weren't comfortable at first being around a camera, but Ben knew how to get us laughing, posing, and joking in no time. It was really comforting to have a nice friendly face behind the camera on our wedding day!

I cannot say enough about my experience working with Ben and Karis. From our engagement session through to our wedding day, they were both super warm and professional, and made us feel so comfortable. Several members of my wedding party commented on how fun they were to work with. They were somehow able to capture all of the great moments of our wedding without feeling "intrusive" (this was my husband's big request - he didn't want to feel like a camera was in his face all night). We received our pictures three months from our wedding date and they are stunning! We have no regrets about choosing Ben Lau Photography for our wedding day and we can't stop looking at our pictures!

We had a fantastic day with Ben and his assistant Genie, they made us feel comfortable and put as at ease when doing the shoots. (neither of us are keen on being in front of the camera)
They took us to a few different locations around the city for the shoot and pretty much gave us a guided tour in the process.
We received the pictures back really quickly and were extremly happy with the photos we received. If your looking for a photograper in New York I would definitely recommend Ben for the job!

Hiring Ben was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Before finding Ben, we met with so many photographers and couldn’t find a great fit for one reason or another (didn’t seem easy to work with, the photographs on their website weren’t indicative of how most of their photos looked, we weren’t getting that personalized service we were looking for, etc...). We were relieved to be able to check everything off of our list with Ben. He got to know us through a few in-person meetings, lots of emails back and forth, and our engagement shoot. He is very easy to work with because he’s so flexible and responsive. Everything is straight forward with the contract. On location he gave us the right amount of direction, and was just fun to have around, which we knew would be important to us on our wedding day (you spend a lot of time with your photographer on the biggest day of your life so it helps to have a fun easygoing person around!). Most importantly, our photos are AMAZING. He surpassed all of my expectations. We have gotten so many compliments on how beautiful they are. (And now my husband understands why I dragged him to meet so many photographers before we found Ben!).

When MJ and I started planning our wedding, we had no doubt we wanted to hire Ben for our wedding. He caught the natural beauty and love in each and every picture we saw and wanted that authenticity. I met Ben for the first time during our First Look. He was personable and created the perfect romantic setting. Throughout the shoot, he made such a huge effort to get us comfortable in front of the camera by making jokes and just getting to know us. He had us laughing hysterically at times and we went from nervous wrecks to genuinely enjoying the moment. He gave us great direction to make sure we would look amazing! At the wedding, Ben and Karis gave us the ultimate treatment. They were so easy to work with and it was less stressful being in the center of attention with familiar faces behind the camera! Ben took the time to put the boutonnière on MJ and my grandpa to make sure they were secure (he pricked his finger and powered through the shoot)! He even helped my family take pictures before getting the perfect shot which was amazing. Ben and Karis helped to make our wedding perfect and it truly was a dream come true! I can’t wait to see the photos and I have no doubt they will be perfect and breathtaking. I’m so glad we hired them to document our wedding I can’t imagine sharing this day with anyone else!! I appreciate everything they did to make our day simply magical.

I knew that I wanted to book Ben as our wedding photographer before I even spoke to him, just from looking at his blog. In my search for a photographer, I grew tired of seeing the same stock wedding photos. The originality of Ben's photos, and his documentary style, caught my attention immediately. The photos speak for themselves, but it just so happened that Ben and Karis were the nicest people ever, and an absolute dream to work with. I left our engagement shoot (which was a little less than a year from our wedding date) already imagining how amazing the wedding day photos were going to be. Ben made us feel super comfortable and went out of his way to get the most creative shots--even laying down on the freezing cold concrete to get a beautiful reflection on a puddle after the morning rain.

Ben and Karis were also super helpful with things completely unrelated to photography. Not being from New Jersey, I had trouble finding hair and makeup artists, and mentioned this to Ben. He ended up giving me a list of some artists that he had worked with before, and I ended up choosing one of them for my hair--she was amazing! Ben and Karis planned out our entire day and kept us on schedule so that we could enjoy every minute of our wedding, but also get all of the shots we wanted.

All in all, I can't recommend Ben and Karis enough! The quality of the images that we received is unparalleled. Compliments all around from family, friends, and complete strangers who have stumbled across our photos on social media.

As soon as we got engaged I knew that choosing a photographer would be one of the toughest decisions we’d have to make since photos meant so much to me. As soon as we met with Ben and Karis in their home for the first time, we felt so comfortable and knew we could have 100% confidence in their work. Thankfully, we were not wrong! In the months leading up to our engagement shoot I obsessively followed their blog and swooned over all of the dreamy photos that I could only hope ours would turn out like. Although we’d been together for about 7 years at the time, we had never been one of those picture perfect, look at us so in love all over social media type of couples (you know the ones I’m talking about!) Luckily for us, Ben showed up to our engagement shoot and started delivering jokes like a pro…oh and his posing direction was pretty awesome too (ladies, you’ve been doing the skinny arm all wrong.) He kept us laughing and most importantly, kept us feeling at ease in front of the camera. The photos came out more beautiful than we could have ever hoped for! Not to our surprise, the experience we had on our wedding day was just as great. When Ben and Karis showed up to my parents’ house I felt like I was greeting friends who just so happened to be there to follow us around all day with cameras (seriously, they are so down to earth #relationshipgoals.) We felt completely at ease all day because we knew we had the best photographers capturing the best day of our lives. We could not be more grateful that we found Ben Lau Photography online shortly after our engagement and that we went with our gut and didn’t bother to meet with other photographers after meeting with Ben. BEST DECISION EVER!

We don't have to have our pictures back to know that Ben & Karis get 5 stars! They were incredible from the day we got in touch with them. Our engagement session was fun and came out great, despite bad weather. Ben was there for us when we had an issue with another photographer. They were so good to us the day of the wedding. They were early! Ben did his best to keep me calm when I was going bonkers with everyone/everything running behind schedule. We had so many guests tell us how much they liked Ben & Karis. I don't think I've been to a single wedding that I can even remember who the photographer was! They powered through a crazy amount of pictures after the ceremony in record speed because we were running so late. We can not thank them enough. I hope they do family photo sessions because I would hate to be done using their services forever!!!! We love them!!!!!!

I could never find enough words to describe our experience with Ben and Karis. First and foremost, these are some of the most beautiful, caring, and supportive people you will find. They quite literally helped us plan our whole wedding - no, seriously, they recommended every other vendor that we used. These people know the business and they know what works. They have lots of experience and they are very organized and detailed. They made us feel so special leading up to the day and on the day. We are going to definitely miss working with them. After receiving our images, they will absolutely be our go-to for any future milestones as well. We are so thrilled with the photos - they are incredible. We knew from the first five minutes meeting with Ben that this FANTASTIC husband and wife duo would be our wedding photographers. What we did not know then, is how much we would come to adore them as individuals and (facebook) friends! That's the kind of experience you will get with Ben and Karis. They are an amazing, charismatic duo that will get to know you as a couple, understand your personalities and vision and brilliantly capture the very essence of your love and individuality. Our engagement shoot, being a little avant-garde, showed Ben's ability to push the envelope and reveal his real magic. He helped us in every way from planning, to posing, to even getting yelled at while standing in the street to hold a parking spot for us in NYC! That level of dedication is hard to come by but with Ben and Karis, it is abundant and all a part of their passion for their craft. Our photos from that shoot and our wedding have been raved about more than anything else from our big day and that is exactly what we had hoped for and once we hired B&K, knew we would get with this couple! There is so much I can say about them professionally and personally, as you will see if you hire them! They are a dynamic duo: hilarious, fun, collected, punctual, experienced, professional, positive, friendly, understanding, accommodating and so darn talented! Three months after the wedding, we are still trying to figure out which photos are our favorites because there are so many! Ben and Karis are amazing! They are both so creative, talented, and very nice. I was a little nervous for the engagement pictures since I am not very comfortable in front of the camera, but Ben guided us through the whole process and the pictures came out more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. The day of the wedding, Ben and Karis were very punctual and kept us right on schedule. The wedding day was very windy and cold and we were scheduled to take pictures outside, but even with the unfavorable weather, Ben was able to pick the perfect spots outdoor for amazing pictures. Even the indoor pictures were perfect. Ben and Karis can take pictures anywhere and in any weather and they will come out beautifully! Highly recommend!!!

Working with Ben and Karis was an absolute delight. They have great ideas for photos and took a good mix of images--during our engagement shoot, Ben primarily took the more photo journalistic style that we prefer, but suggested two more traditionally posed shots "for the parents," and sure enough, those were my mother-in-law's favorites! Everyone got what they wanted without having to compromise. Of all the wedding photographers we spoke to when we were researching, they were by far the most responsive and professional, and had answers to all of our questions, often before we even had to ask.
On our wedding day, the groomsmen raved about hanging out with Karis during the getting ready, and she even helped show them how to prepare their pocket squares. Ben and Karis were great about making us feel relaxed and made us laugh during the portraits, but were also completely unobtrusive during the ceremony and dancing; I was really able to focus on the moment during the ceremony and no one felt self conscious during dancing, which is not always the case at other weddings I've been to.
For both our engagement shoot and our wedding day, we had some challenges with the weather, and Ben was able to adapt and provide great suggestions without ever making it feel like this was "Plan B." We loved our engagement photos, and I can't wait to see the wedding pictures!

Ben was so so amazing!! He made everything so easy. Not only did he squeeze us in on his already booked scheduled (we kinda lucked out because he liked our venue!) but he was just fun to have around! Me and my husband don't know much about taking photos so it was nice to put something into his hands and let him have control! The engagement session was about getting to know him and him getting us comfortable in front of the camera, that way we could have our fun at our wedding, I forgot he was even there most of the time! We made sure to give him plenty of time in between the ceremony and reception to take photos of the wedding which gave us TONS of photos, which you have access to all of the color and black and white images forever! He also is so accustomed to weddings he even helped get us started on our timeline. Ben knows how to make you look amazing, and takes great photos, I would hire him again in a heart beat.

I originally found Ben because my sister tried to get him for her wedding a few years ago but unfortunately he was booked at the time. Knowing this, I ended up meeting with and signing a contract with Ben 2 years before our wedding date. I didn't want to take any chances that I would miss out on having him photograph our wedding!
However, I did my due diligence before signing the contract and researched many photographers in the NYC area. I looked on multiple wedding sites including weddingwire and theknot. I compared prices, pored over portfolios and read a ton of reviews and ultimately, Ben had everything that I wanted in a wedding photographer. I loved his style of shooting and his finished photographs wowed me. I am not a photographer by any means but I know what I want in photographs. And hey, that free engagement session didn't hurt either. Let me tell you, that was the best practice for wedding day photos. Neither my husband nor I were great in front of a camera; we're awkward and didn't know how to pose but Ben worked his magic to direct us into the best models we could be. It's because of this that on our wedding day, we were relaxed and knew exactly what to do for the camera.
Ben was flexible and worked around what we wanted. He was knowledgeable and gave us important/practical feedback that I never would've considered. For example, for our engagement shoot in Central Park, he told us not to start any later than 8am to avoid the tourists unloading from their buses.
On our wedding day he came with his wife, Karis, who is just as wonderful as Ben is. They put us both at ease with their playful bantering and joking and let us drag them all over Central Park for our first look and wedding photos. They reassured me about shooting in the rain and when we ran behind on set up, Karis pitched in to help (which I am so grateful for!). I received my wedding photos yesterday and I can't stop smiling. I can't imagine choosing anyone better.

Ben and Karis were amazing to work with, from start to finish! We booked them over a year in advance, which I recommend since they are in high demand! Our initial meeting with them was so easy and we loved looking at their previous work (although we had already seen a lot on the blog). We really liked that we weren't overwhelmed by different packages or what was included or not. It was a simple package, including all day shooting the day of with two photographers, and an engagement session thrown in! We hadn't planned on doing an engagement photo shoot but we're really glad we did- it was great to get to know Ben a little better and to get more comfortable in front of the camera. He even traveled to us for them! Ben and Karis checked in as our date approached to get more details on our day and even helped plan out our day with the timing of all the different things happening. On the day of our wedding, they were awesome to work with and clearly knew what they were doing, gave great direction to everyone and got all the shots we wanted and more. We just received our photos and are so happy with them! They really captured our day perfectly. We would definitely recommend them for anyone!!

Honestly, Ben was such a pleasure to work with. We eloped in City Hall and he was there bright and early. Ben and Karis are incredible! We couldn't be happier we chose them to document our wedding. Right from the beginning, they were so easy to work with. When I had no idea what would work for the day's timeline, Ben sent me over an example to use which was perfect and such a huge help. They also helped provide other vendor suggestions. When our venue messed up our wedding cake, leaving us with a plain boring cake, Karis jumped right in and did an amazing job decorating it with flowers from one of the bridesmaid's bouquets - and it looked incredible. Finally, we just received all of our images and love them all so much. We couldn't recommend them more, and are so thankful for all they did to help make our wedding perfect.

Ben was referred to me by my hair stylist, and when i saw her wedding photos i already knew that when i got engaged i wanted to use Ben & Karis. Ben and his wife Karis are true artists of their craft. We could not have been happier with our experience shooting with them. Ben drove all the way up to Windham Mountain area for our engagement pictures and snapped the most beautiful images. I was nervous about being photographed for 3 hours but he made posing easy and kept us laughing the entire time. We are excited for our wedding photos and know they will be equally as beautiful as the engagement images.

We were fortunate enough to meet Ben & Karis when they photographed my cousin's wedding (I was the MOH so I was able to observe their work firsthand) in April of last year. They were great to work with & I loved the final product when my cousin & her husband received their pictures; as soon as my now husband & I got engaged, I knew we'd want them to document our special day as well. From the moment we reached out to them, Ben and Karis were quick to respond, remembering who we were and were prompt in setting up an appointment with us that worked around our hectic schedules. My husband and I were all over the place narrowing down a location to do our engagement shoot so Ben and Karis were patient enough to work with us and pitched many different interesting locations that could work for what we might like. After having to reschedule a million times because again, our schedules are all over the place, we finally shot in the city with Ben, who was right on time & schlepped all over the city with us in the cold January weather. I'm not photogenic but Ben was good enough to keep us laughing the entire day and got amazing shots. It was a wonderful experience. The images were delivered in a timely manner and we LOVED them! Leading up to our wedding, Ben & Karis were quick to respond & helped out with our timeline for the day of as we approached the big day. They showed up right on time, ready to shoot & were absolutely such a good energy to have around. They kept us right on schedule too! With a family as big as ours is, they both had incredible patience to get all the shots we needed and then some - the pictures came out beautifully. They even kept the little ones entertained in order to get great shots of them too! The magical day flew by & they documented every single step. We just got our images & the pictures were breathtaking;thank you so so much Ben & Karis!!!! Looking forward to working with them again in the future!!!

My wife and I could not have been happier to have Ben document our City Hall wedding. Here's why:
1. Ben was early and well-prepared. We started the photo-taking from our home at 7am and Ben showed up at 6.40am, with camera in-hand, ready to jump into action!
2. Ben knows what to do to get the right photo. The weather was freezing that day and Ben's proficiency with the camera meant that we could hop out of our winter jackets, get the shots we wanted, and hop back into our winter jackets all in record time! Also, he struck a fine balance between being a "fly on the wall" taking candid photos and being present in the moment to guide us on what to do for a photo.
3. He chauffeured us around to all the photoshoot locations, and even did a detour to pick up flowers from the florist on our way to the Office of the City Clerk. We did 5 locations in 5.5 hours and this would not have been possible without him driving us around.
4. He is flexible and accommodating. We had issues with collecting our flowers from the florist, and Ben helped us with resolving the issue by going out of the way to drive us to the florist on the morning of. As I mentioned before, we contracted to 5 hours of his time and even though we ran over by 30 minutes, Ben never mentioned the time or made us feel hurried through the process.
5. We felt at ease with Ben. We spent a lot of time together that day traveling between photoshoot locations and waiting at the Office of the City Clerk. We had engaging conversations, and my wife and I enjoyed every minute of it.
6. Ben did not nickel-and-dime us. We did our research by talking to a few photographers, and speaking to Ben over the phone was a breath of fresh air for us. There were no extra charges for softcopies of the photos, no reminders that hourly charges would apply if we ran over on time, or exorbitant prices for hardcopy prints. Instead, Ben was very transparent with pricing: softcopies included, hardcopy prints at a very reasonable price.

A cut above the rest! We hired Ben Lau Photography after an exhaustive photographer search to capture our 9-26-15 wedding at the Rockleigh Country Club in North NJ. Ben and his wife Karis delivered the most gorgeous portraits, candids, and action shots in photo journalistic and traditional styles. He was kind, sensitive, and patient at a time needed the most. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. If you have a feeling that Ben Lau Photography might be "the one," you will not be disappointed. Do it fast because they might already be booked!

We were fortunate enough to meet Ben and his wife Karis when they did a wedding of a family member the year before. When it came time to choose a photographer for our own wedding, it ended up being an easy decision. Ben and Karis are extremely professional and their work speaks for itself. More importantly, they are easy going and fun to work with, which makes a sometimes stressful process an enjoyable one. We always felt comfortable with them, as did everybody else involved, and they worked hard to get the best shots. We have nothing but the best to say about our experience and would highly recommend them to anybody who needs a photographer for any occasion!

My wife and I just wanted to say that Ben Lau and his wife Karis did a fantastic job capturing our wedding and making the day very special. Ben and Karis are truly professionals and the quality of their work has left us both speechless. They both have a natural talent for capturing each moment and work tirelessly to make sure that you are satisfied with the outcome. They truly care about each of their clients, respond quickly to e-mails, and are very attentive. While taking pictures, Ben & Karis will make you feel completely comfortable, tell jokes, and have wonderful personalities. If you're in the market for a wedding photographer, look no further! We met with several photographers before meeting with Ben Lau and his wife Karis and once we met with them we knew they were the right choice for us! Their photography style is exactly what we were looking for and they were so wonderful to work with.

In addition to our wedding day photos, we did our engagement photos with Ben Lau and he drove all the way to Penn State (5 hour drive!) to do them with us!

We loved every minute of working with Ben and Karis and we can't wait to see all of our photos. (He did send us a few sneak peak photos for Christmas cards and we are THRILLED with the way they turned out!) We also did a photo booth with them and our friends and family LOVED that they got professional photos of themselves that day!

We would HIGHLY recommend Ben Lau Photography!

Ben and Karis are two amazing professionals who def know their stuff! From the moment my husband and I met Ben, he knew exactly what we were looking for. Ben & Karis make a point to get to know their clients. It really shows that they care about their client's happiness. After receiving our absolutely breath-taking engagement photos, I could not wait for Ben and Karis to shoot our wedding day! Ben and his wife were kind, patient and a pleasure to have around all day at out wedding. Our makeup artist even told by myself and my mother that she has never worked with someone kinder. Ben and his wife were so patient every time someone asked if they would take a photo of another family member. He put myself and husband at ease the entire day (which was no easy feat if you saw how awkward we are to pose!) Our engagement photos turned out amazing and our wedding photos even better!

Ben is a pleasure to work with. His vision is beautiful and is so easy to work with. We just had our wedding this December and Ben made me feel so at ease. He arrived on time with his wife (his co-shooter) and throughout the entire day him and Karis made me feel so calm. They kept the timeline on schedule for me so well that i never even had to look at my phone to keep track of time. He let me see some of the pictures after he took them on his camera and they were stunning! I am so happy we choose him to capture our day. He made sure to kind of blend into the party so to my husband and I it didn't feel like we were stuck taking pictures the entire time. Our engagement pictures were incredible and so we cannot wait to see our wedding pictures. We highly recommend Ben Lau to any bride looking for beautiful pictures.

I used Ben's services for both my wedding & engagement photos. He was recommended through a friend, and once I saw his blog, I fell in love! In addition to his amazing photos, he was very easy to work with and his transparent pricing made the entire wedding budgeting process that much easier on my husband & I. He includes everything with his packages (engagement photo session, wedding albums, and parent albums if you want those as well). The engagement session was super fun - and that is saying something because both of us were sort of nervously dreading the process. Ben has such a great eye for lighting and the background landscape. Our pictures looked so professional and a cut above any other traditional "engagement photo" you have ever seen, which is exactly what we were looking for. The actual wedding day was a breeze - we lucked out with good lighting and a fun bridal party so I knew we were in store for good pictures. My husband and I were blown away by the quality of Ben & Karis's photos. They were so beautiful, professional, and timeless. We have gotten multiple compliments from people that have seen them saying we belong on the cover of a bridal magazine. Also, as a side note, Ben has a great photobooth set up that he can add on to your package if you want. It's at a great price and he has tons of fun props (it's a backdrop screen so you can fit more people in there compared to a traditional photobooth). Our guests had a great time with it. I would definitely recommend Ben to anyone looking for timeless and beautiful photos!

There really isn't enough to say about Ben Lau Photography! My wife and I spent plenty of time searching for the right photographer to capture our special day. We planned our wedding to be a NYC city hall ceremony and we started on pinterest. We were looking for those iconic NYC wedding shots and we kept coming across photos we really liked and 90% were photos done by Ben. We then started to look at all of Ben's work and were very impressed with not only the City Hall ceremonies, but with the style and approach he takes with all of his shoots.
Once we determined to go with Ben, we met up with him for a consultation (which he was very accommodating). He was very thorough in explaining what to expect during our big day. We also found Ben was very reasonable with his rates and offered a variety of services to cover our needs (since we weren't having a full out wedding). We pitched a few ideas about what we were looking for and based on his experience he was able to give us a very logical plan. Once we realized we wouldn't be able to get every NYC site we wanted for our shoot, we decided to also book him for an engagement session.
On the day of the engagement shoot Ben enthusiastically took us around the city. His experience and local knowledge made for a smooth and enjoyable day. Following the shoot, communication was very easy and they were prompt with responses. The delivery and quality of the photos far exceeded anything we could have hoped for.
Finally on the morning of our big day, Ben and his assistant Steve arrived ready to go. Again, Ben drove us around from our hotel to City Hall and all the other sites we wanted to capture. Their professionalism and experience made for an exciting and fun day. And once again they exceeded our expectations with the delivery turnaround and quality.
We cannot be happier with our choice in Ben. Thanks to Ben, Karis and Steve my wife and I can look back and always remember how truly amazing our big day really was!

Ben & Karis did our engagement photos & wedding photos and let's just say they were exactly what we were looking for!! From their awesome personalities to their amazing talents - we would recommend them to absolutely anyone! We actually have two couples we are friends with that have booked Ben & Karis for their upcoming weddings because of the amazing work they saw. They have an amazing photography style that was exactly what we wanted, and these photos will be something we will forever cherish. Ben and Karis deserve 100/100. We could not have been happier with them. They were with us from the start of hair and makeup until the end of the night always cheerful, joking, and getting the shots we had requested. Even when we had to be torn away from the dancing for the shots WE requested ahead of time, they we so efficient, that we were done in minutes or less. He had flown down for our engagement photos a year ago and we knew we had picked the right photographers, especially after we saw the final product. They are flexible, friendly, talented, and work great with each other, the bridal party, and guests. We had constant compliments throughout the night and the day after on how great our photographers were. Their work is worth every penny and more.

Ben and Karis are amazing photographers with so much talent!!! From our first meeting, my husband and I decided that these were the people we wanted to capture our big day! We were able to create a custom package that included an engagement session and all day photo coverage for the wedding day. Our engagement photos came out beautiful and Karis created a fantastic guest book for the wedding with the photos. On the day of, they literally followed us around from 10am to midnight always smiling, laughing, and joking with everyone. Even though it was freezing cold and super windy, we got all the shots we wanted out on the golf course and got creative inside to get additional pictures and stay warm! We cannot wait to see our photos and would recommend Ben and Karis in a heartbeat!

Ben and Karis were AMAZING! he was very professional and has a great sense of humor. He did our engagement and wedding photography... you know he's good when your super picky Korean facialist tells you the photographs are magazine worthy. Ben has a great way of making his "models" feel comfortable... we've never laughed so much during our shoot! Both Ben and Karis are very professional and kept our wedding day running so smoothly... they're like photographer and planner in one. They're great at being discrete during the wedding... I don't even know how they captured so many memorable shots! They're very good about the photo editing turn around time and were very considerate to have it back to us before we saw our relative abroad. They're really good at working with you and catering to whatever needs arise. So lucky to know Ben and Karis and have them as friends! not to mention they have two adorable kids!

I know it might seem a little hard to believe that a photographer could truly have a 5/5 review average, but believe me, if there was a way to give bonus points, I most certainly would.
Ben and Karis, a husband and wife duo, are devoted, creative, and passionate photographers who genuinely put their clients' needs and desires above their own. (i.e. Being willing to do a wedding shoot on snow-covered grounds in sub-zero temps and face 50 mph wind gusts.. yup. They'll do it.) They will not rest until they get THE perfect shot each time.
When you book your wedding, you also get a complimentary engagement shooting. They generally shoot in a more romantic sort of style, but they are certainly accommodating and willing to do whatever it is you want! Whimsical, silly, props, you name it, they will cater to YOUR desires. Ben uses only natural lighting, and even on the cloudiest day, he will hold true to that promise.
In all of our experiences with Ben and Karis, we always felt that we were in the best of hands. A simple glance at his online gallery is proof enough that he is the best photographer in the NY/NJ/East Coast area. I think our best man summed it up the best: ¨Anyone can learn to be a photographer, but this guy knows how to manage people too.¨ Ben will ensure that you are comfortable and having fun throughout your photo shoots. He laughs along with you and endures the painstakingly awkward newness of being the focus of a camera with humor, finesse, and the comfort of a good friend. You will NOT be disappointed when booking Ben Lau Photography. It was the easiest decision of my entire wedding planning experience. Thank you, Ben and Karis!

When we first saw Ben Lau's photos online, we knew we had to have him capture our wedding day. We were equally excited to have him shoot our engagement session as well. We could not be more excited with how everything turned out. The weather for our engagement session was absolutely terrible, but somehow Ben and Karis put together the most amazing photo shoot imaginable. The weather on our wedding day was equally crummy, but the photos from the day look absolutely stunning. Ben and his team have a way of making their subjects so comfortable, which really makes it seem like they aren't even there on the wedding day (in a good way of course!). Their talent is evident as soon as you see their photos, but it's really their wonderful attitudes behind the scenes that made me want to write this review and recommend them to all of my friends. In addition to the photos, Ben is incredibly responsive, very willing to listen to any concerns or requests, and genuinely cares about doing whatever he can the day of the wedding to make sure everything runs smoothly and as planned. We hope that Ben and Karis will be able to capture many more special moments throughout our lives.
