My makeup and hair artist was Kristin and she did all my bridesmaid’s hair as well. Megan did all the bridesmaids makeup and both of them were so talented and efficient! Cannot recommend them more! -

What a wonderful experience! I was a guest at a friends wedding and hired this team to style me and my two friends, so we could feel glamorous for the our friend April’s big day. They came to my home, and did all of our Hair & Makeup. Not only did it last all night, but we got so many compliments. We were very proud to tell them that Candice and Meghan from Beauty Unveiled by Tia made us beautiful for the day! -

Always a bridesmaid never a bride -- by far the best experience ive ever had
I have been in multiple weddings -- a classic "always a bridesmaid" situation. Honestly, I've never loved hair or makeup. I'm very particular about how my skin looks and I always feel like my hair looks like a teased ratty mess or the curls fall out as soon as the artist leaves. My photo never actually resembles the inspo photo. It's just comical at this point. Between 2023-2024 Ive been in 9 weddings. Considering average hair and makeup services are about $200 I could've taken a vacay for what I've spent being a bridesmaid just on the beauty services.
Going into my friends wedding last weekend, I thought "here we go again...." but I was floored. Seriously OMG. I cant remember the names of the artists that worked on me (sorry there was a lot going on) but I have never felt so beautiful. I didn't even want to wash off my makeup and I 100% slept in my hair. When I woke up the next morning it was STILL curled as beautifully as when she finished the day before (AND THE PINS STAYED). When I was talking to the artist (very personable btw), she explained that this team focuses a lot on education for bridal hair and makeup and OMG it shows. Every single bridal party member looked so stunning. And not that we're ugly girls to start with, but all of our natural beauty was just like magnified....
I mean I'm seriously considering booking this team the next time Im in a wedding solely for myself. Thank you for putting emphasis on training artists to ACTUALLY give us paying clients something we a feel confident in. This was the best experience I've ever had. -

Choosing Beauty Unveiled by Tia for my wedding hair and makeup was one of the best decisions I made! They made working together so simple and seamless and Tia responded quickly to all of my questions via email. On the actual day, they were so efficient and kept us ahead of schedule. Everybody’s hair and makeup turned out stunning! And I felt so beautiful thanks to Tia (hair) and Kristin (makeup). My look stayed in place all night, with only very minor touch- ups required! Talented Make-Up Artist Worth the Trip!
Recently doing a maternity boudoir shoot, I knew I wanted to get my make-up done because, let's face it, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to make-up. Tia listened to what I envisioned and really made me feel and look just stunning. She took her time, gave great conversation during application and made the whole process a really positive one. I drove an hour just to see her and would definitely do it again for any event I'd need in the future that would need her skills and talent. Thank you Tia for the perfect experience and make me feel special during a time when growing a baby tends to make us feel unattractive, exhausted, and not very confident. -

Tia is a superstar! She did hair for 8 people and makeup for 2 the morning of the wedding, finished right on time, and nobody felt rushed. Half of the people just sat down and said "I have no idea" and Tia just ran with it. Everybody looked gorgeous and somehow very 'them,' even with no direction. She was really friendly and skillful. The hair and makeup trial went very smoothly (I was so sad I had it in the evening and had to take it off so soon!), and her daughter did a great job occupying my wife while she waited for me. -

Long story short, my bridal party and I did not receive the full/complete services we paid for. We had so many issues through the services and after they left the majority of my bridal party had make-up crisis (make-up breaking down, oily skin, creasing, patchy shadow, etc.) and my curls were flat by the time we took pictures. They did not book enough time, the MUA struggled with my lashes at the trial and did not offer to help or place lashes on my wedding party on the wedding day because she might not be able to do it well due to our eye shape or have time for the clusters (I had to do the lash strips for some or they had to learn how to use lash clusters). Tia was very unprofessional to my review and the negative feedback. The constant deflecting and blaming the wedding party was uncalled for. She refused to acknowledge any of the issues we encountered. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! -

I gave this company the benefit of the doubt over and over, and it still nearly ruined my wedding day. Of every vendor I hired, this is the only one I'd actively warn other brides away from—and I wish I'd trusted my gut and switched companies the first time something felt off.
Here's what happened, in order.
How I found them
I saw Beauty Unveiled listed as a preferred vendor at a venue we toured (but didn't book). Their online reviews looked mostly positive, and their portfolio stood out to me for two reasons: I wear my hair naturally curly and their curly-hair photos looked the best of anyone I'd researched, and as a redhead, I'm picky about makeup artists who can actually work with my coloring. Seeing brides of different races well represented in their portfolio is usually a good sign for me on that front, so I booked an intro call.
Red flags before I'd even booked
Kristin, the business manager, missed our scheduled intro call; I had to follow up before she called back. The call itself felt oddly aggressive, which seemed like a strange sales tactic. Not a dealbreaker on its own, though—she recommended Tia for hair and herself for makeup based on what I described wanting.
A week later I booked the Elite hair and makeup package and specifically requested Tia and Kristin. By then Kristin had already booked another wedding, so I was reassigned to a makeup artist named Zaliyah, whose portfolio didn't impress me. The looks read as heavy makeup, rather than enhancing the clients' natural beauty, and I was nervous going in.
That nervousness got worse when I came across another bride's public Facebook post describing her and her bridesmaids' makeup melting and becoming cakey almost immediately after application. I had a bad feeling and reached out to ask who had done her makeup. She told me it was Zaliyah.
I decided to go through with the trial anyway and decide afterward whether to switch companies.
Trial #1: Hair (Tia) and Makeup (Zaliyah)
Hair
Tia did a nice job with my curls, but I was surprised by how much preparation fell on me. I was told to bring my own diffuser and spray bottle and apply my normal curl products before arriving. I was also expected to scrunch out the cast myself if needed.
I was surprised that on my wedding day I'd be expected to provide equipment and handle so much of the curl prep myself.
When I explained that I'd chosen Beauty Unveiled specifically because so many other curly-hair portfolios looked frizzy, Tia framed it as largely depending on how well I prepared my own hair. It felt a little like I was being preemptively blamed in case the results weren't good. The finished hair itself looked nice, but I decided I wanted a different style for the wedding.
Makeup
I'd sent extensive reference photos—including one of my favorite professional makeup looks on myself, albeit from over a decade ago—and wrote a detailed description of what works on me. I specifically explained that despite my pale skin, I look best in warm spring colors like peach, coral, champagne, gold, and berry, rather than the cool neutrals makeup artists often default to on redheads.
When I sat down, Zaliyah actually repeated those notes back to me almost word for word, which made me feel confident she'd understood exactly what I wanted.
There wasn't a mirror in front of me while she worked, so I couldn't see anything until she finished. She handed me a mirror and immediately asked what I'd like changed.
The moment I looked at myself, I realized she'd done almost the exact opposite of what I'd requested.
The makeup was cool-toned and ashy, one eyelash was already peeling off, the blush was placed too low on my cheeks, and the lip color completely washed me out. Two friends independently told me it made me look older, and a couple of others said I looked unwell. It simply didn't flatter my face shape or coloring whatsoever.
To her credit, the foundation color match itself was excellent.
I asked several other makeup professionals for feedback before contacting Tia. I sent detailed notes and additional reference photos explaining exactly what I wanted changed and requested a second trial. I was strongly considering switching companies altogether, but because Tia had done such a good job with my hair—and curly bridal hair was one of my biggest priorities—I decided to give them another chance.
Trial #2: Hair and Makeup (both with Tia)
Tia offered to do my makeup herself this time, and I accepted.
For my hair, we tried a different style than the first trial, but it just wasn't working. We ultimately decided on a simple style with my hair completely down.
This becomes important later.
The makeup was definitely better than the first trial. I still ended up choosing nearly every color myself, and while I wouldn't say it was the best professional makeup application I've ever had, I finally felt like Tia understood the look I was trying to achieve.
Tia mentioned she couldn't get mascara completely down to the base of my blonde eyelashes, which made it look like my lashes were lifting. She suggested eyelash extensions. I tried getting extensions a few weeks later but unfortunately had an allergic reaction, so I opted to have my natural lashes tinted black before the wedding instead. Again, I found myself wondering why I was having to solve so many problems on my own. I've never had a professional MUA be unable to apply mascara or false lashes successfully.
My only follow-up feedback after the second trial was simple:
More polished curls.
A different lip shade.
Communication Issues
When I needed to swap my mother's booked hair and makeup slot for a sixth bridesmaid (my mom decided against having services done), Tia's initial email response was oddly abrasive. She seemed to think I was asking for a refund, when I was actually asking to transfer the services to someone else and was fully expecting the price to increase if necessary.
I responded professionally, offered to hop on a phone call if that would make it easier to explain, and we quickly got everything sorted out.
Around the same time, I also noticed my invoice didn't actually match the services I'd booked. I itemized everything that was incorrect, Tia apologized, and she updated the invoice.
At that point, I felt like everything had been resolved.
The Week Before
The week before my wedding, my regular curly-hair stylist suggested adding a few small braids to my hairstyle. It was a very minor adjustment.
I emailed Tia several reference photos, and she confirmed it would be no problem. In fact, she asked me and a few bridesmaids to arrive an hour earlier so there would be plenty of time to incorporate the change.
My regular hair stylist—who also went to makeup school and previously worked at MAC—also pointed out several things that could be improved about my trial makeup. She recommended I go to Sephora, have my makeup professionally done there, and purchase the products they used as a backup.
I did exactly that.
Ironically, the Sephora makeup looked noticeably better than either of my professional bridal trials. I bought the products intending to bring them with me on the wedding day...and naturally, of course, the one thing I forgot that morning was the makeup bag.
Wedding Day
I arrived at 7:00 a.m. with three bridesmaids. Tia reviewed the trial photo of my hair and asked if there was anything I wanted to change.
I reminded her of the only feedback I'd given after my second trial—more polished curls—and showed her the braid inspiration photos and the email we'd exchanged just days before.
Throughout the morning, she rotated between me and the bridesmaids, so it was difficult to tell exactly what was happening with my own hair. At the time, I didn't think much of it because I was running on very little sleep and obviously had a hundred other things on my mind.
Looking back, I realize I never imagined I'd have to advocate for myself so much on my own wedding morning. After two trials and months of planning, I expected things to simply go according to plan.
Makeup
When Tia finished my makeup, something immediately felt off.
I couldn't quite identify what was bothering me, and I started questioning whether I was just being overly anxious because it was my wedding day.
Later, after comparing my wedding photos to the trial photos side by side, I realized exactly what had changed.
The darker, cooler gray-toned eyeshadow that had only been used on the outer corner during my trial had been applied across my entire eyelid. The lighter champagne shimmer that had brightened the inner eye during my trial was gone.
The blush was once again much cooler than we'd discussed and placed too low on my cheeks.
The lip color, at least, was an improvement.
Almost immediately, one of my eyelashes started lifting again.
Hair
Then came the biggest mistake of the day.
When Tia finally handed me a mirror to show me the back of my hair, I was shocked.
She had pinned the back of my hair up into essentially the exact style we had explicitly rejected during both trials.
It wasn't even the hairstyle in the trial photo she'd shown me minutes earlier because we'd taken the pinned section down before taking those pictures.
She had spent roughly three hours styling my hair into a look I'd already decided against—twice.
I reminded her about the braid inspiration photos I'd emailed only days earlier.
She was surprised and said she couldn't believe she hadn't written notes about it because she usually takes extensive notes. She also commented that braids were "easy."
She then had to undo much of what she'd done and recurl large sections of my hair with a curling iron. Looking back at my wedding photos, I can still see evidence of where the earlier pinned style had been secured with bobby pins in the back.
At that point there simply wasn't enough time left to revisit the makeup.
I had to use the remaining time fixing my hair instead.
She also forgot our plan for placing my hair vine and asked me where I wanted it positioned. I ended up directing her, but I think it wound up too far back to really be visible in many of the photos (which to be fair, she warned about. But I wasn’t happy to have to make a decision in such a high stress moment). Looking back, I wish she'd simply placed it where she thought looked best, since she's the professional.
Everyone around me kept telling me how beautiful I looked.
I wanted to believe them.
Instead, I spent the morning trying not to cry because I knew this wasn't the look we'd planned through two trials and months of preparation. I also knew I'd already seen a much better version of myself from other professional makeup applications. That was the hardest part—not that I looked "bad," but that I knew exactly how much better the final result could have been.
The Reception
Just before the ceremony, the eyelash started lifting again, and my makeup began visibly breaking apart.
It wasn't simply wearing off—it was literally crumbling off my face.
It looked horrendous.
My mother-in-law told me there was no way she was going to let me go into my reception looking like that. She wanted me to remove it altogether rather than letting it continue to deteriorate during the reception, even knowing I'm prone to rosacea and would be left with very red skin.
I've had my makeup professionally done around eight times before, including in significantly hotter weather than the roughly 76°F we had that day, and I have never experienced anything like this.
Notably, my bridesmaids' makeup—all done by Kalley—looked beautiful and lasted all day and all night.
Mine was the only makeup Tia had done.
Someone in my bridal party alerted my wedding planner, who called Tia.
Initially, Tia's response was to quote $150 for someone to come fix the makeup.
I refused to pay additional money to correct a problem that had been caused by the company in the first place.
Eventually, they agreed to send someone free of charge, which, in my opinion, should have been the immediate response.
Tia later explained that the initial $150 quote was because she had been told I had airbrush makeup, which I did not.
Unfortunately, another communication breakdown followed.
Because someone mistakenly told Tia that Zaliyah had done my makeup instead of Tia, she apparently sent Zaliyah—or another artist—to an entirely different bride about an hour away in Milwaukee. From what I understand, she asked who had done the makeup but not who the bride was or where the venue was.
As a result, no one came to help me.
At one point my wedding planner asked who had done my makeup for the rehearsal dinner because she assumed I'd hired someone else.
I hadn't.
I'd done it myself.
Ironically, my own makeup looked better and lasted better than the professional bridal makeup I'd paid for.
That evening, Tia emailed me explaining everything that had happened from her perspective: the initial $150 quote, the later decision to send someone free of charge, the mix-up over who had done my makeup, and the artist being dispatched to the wrong bride.
She also said she was surprised because she'd used the exact same products as during my trial.
The difference, of course, is that my trial took place in early April—not on an actual wedding day with summer temperatures, emotions, movement, hugs, photos, and hours of wear.
The tone of the email also struck me as a bit odd. She repeatedly referred to a "lady who didn't identify herself" (paraphrasing), when she was talking about my wedding planner.
Meanwhile, one of my bridesmaids sent a guest to a nearby Walgreens to buy me new foundation.
Somehow, praise the Lord, she picked an almost perfect color match.
I ended up missing about 20 minutes of cocktail hour removing the professional makeup I'd paid for and replacing it with drugstore foundation. They hadn't thought or been told to buy blush, and my eyelash was still lifting because no one had picked up eyelash glue.
As a result, I look noticeably paler than I wanted throughout much of my reception, and again my eyes were too dark. The makeup wasn’t as flattering as it could have been to my eye shape, face shape or skin tone.
Bottom Line
To Tia's credit, after I emailed explaining how devastated I was, she responded with empathy and refunded the amount I requested. I appreciate that gesture. Unfortunately, it didn't change what happened on my wedding day.
This was, without question, the worst part of my wedding and the one thing I'd change if I could go back.
Hair and makeup were among the most important parts of my wedding planning because I wanted to feel like the best version of myself on a day that would be photographed forever.
Instead, I spent part of my wedding removing professional makeup in the bridal suite, missed a portion of cocktail hour fixing it myself, and still look back at many of my photos wishing I'd trusted my instincts and hired someone else.
For balance, there were several positives:
Arielle and Samantha reportedly did excellent work for others in my bridal party.
Kalley did a wonderful job on my bridesmaids' makeup. I honestly wish she'd done mine.
Tia was consistently responsive by email and did make genuine efforts to address problems as they arose.
The company successfully accommodated a large group (bride, six bridesmaids, mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law, flower girl, and my fiancé, who later opted out).
I also received many compliments on my hair, though I think that's at least partly because I have naturally thick hair that holds a curl well.
Despite those positives, I can't recommend this company based on my experience.
Too many warning signs appeared before the wedding, too many mistakes happened on the wedding day itself, and the issue that mattered most to me—bridal hair and makeup—ultimately required me to spend part of my wedding fixing work that I'd paid professionals to do.
If I could go back and change one vendor decision from my wedding, this would be it.Beauty Unveiled's reply:

Looking back, there are areas where we could have served you better. The communication breakdown surrounding your day-of concerns should have been handled differently, and we regret that the experience left you feeling unsupported during such an important moment. Regardless of how the miscommunication occurred, we understand why that was frustrating, and we have taken this as an opportunity to review and strengthen our internal communication procedures for wedding-day concerns.

I intially had a great experience with the stylist I booked and paid for from my trial. Fast forward to wedding day. The stylist I booked was unfortunately not able to make it so they sent another stylist, no big deal right? Wrong. Long story short, it was not good. Majority of my bridal party hated their hair and as the bride, I was also very unhappy with how mine turned out. And the company was already paid ahead of time with gratuity automatically included. -

Would not recommend
I really hate to write bad reviews; however I remember reading hair/ makeup reviews for hours and hours when I was deciding who to hire for my wedding and I would have loved to have read a review like this. I hired Beauty Unveiled by Tia in Aug 2023 for my 9/21/24 wedding. I booked the “elite” premium HMU for myself, the bride, and booked HMU for 6 bridesmaids and was so excited! Tia did my hair/ makeup for my engagement photoshoot in Sep 2023 and I loved it! However, the company decides which hair/ makeup artist you are paired up with… in Feb 2024 I had to schedule my hair and makeup trials where I had to travel to their location. I had to drive to Kiel for my makeup trial (1 hour drive each way). I was wanting full glam, like Kim Kardashian glam, and left with my makeup looking like a middle schooler did it. It was extremely blotchy, didn’t match my skin color and there was absolutely nothing “elite” or “glam” about it. The makeup artists next trial appointment was there a few minutes early and sitting in her living room waiting right next to me, so I did not have the opportunity to tell her how unhappy I was with everything). The first 4 pictures are pictures I took in my car, 5 min after I left. I broke down bawling in my car, never had I anticipated my bridal makeup looking as awful and terrible as it did. I emailed Tia about the situation and voiced my concerns about the quality of the makeup and was given 2 options: 1. Do another trial with the same artist or 2: Be released from my contract without penalty. I was very disappointed that there was no effort to find me a better artist.
I did go to my hair trial a few days later (another 1 hour drive each way). I thought the hair trial looked okay, but not fabulous. I paid for both trials and tipped both of them (even though I wasn’t happy, they still provided a service). I ended up getting a referral to another company that was AMAZINGGGG and available somehow on the day of my wedding. She got my into her studio for a hair/ makeup trial 2 days later and she NAILED IT. I have attached pictures of that trial as well to show what I was looking for.
My takeaway is that Beauty Unveiled by Tia is a great option for someone that normally wears little to no make up and is looking for a more “natural” style. Not someone who is wanting full Hollywood glam. I did end up cancelling my contract and hiring the 2nd artist that I found.
