    Scott and Julia are an amazing team, they made our engagement shoot a very fun and memorable day. They were extremely responsive and had excellent suggestions on locations and poses (which we needed a lot). They even got our photos processed quickly so we're able to get our save-the-dates out before the new year. You guys are the best! I only wish they were available for our wedding!

    I love Bear and Penguin Photography! Scott and Julia were very patient with our large families and took all the wedding day delays in stride. They captured some priceless moments and left us with beautiful photos to remember our wedding day by. They were worth every penny!

    Choosing Bear and Penguin photography to shoot our engagement photos and our wedding was the best decision we could have made. Scott and Julia were unbelievably easy to work with because they are super flexible, and did an excellent job of figuring out exactly what we wanted out of our wedding photographers. They have great, creative ideas and create beautiful pictures. Scott and Julia are also really fun to be around, which makes having your picture taken all day really easy. We could not be happier with the time we spent with them, and the final pictures that were produced. These guys are the best!

    Scott & Julia are the most incredible team. Extremely responsive and absolutely patient. I had my wedding on 9/29/13 and I've already received edited photos through their website.
    The quality of their work is phenomenal. I absolutely recommend them to every bride.

    We are SO thankful that Scott and Julia have relocated to Alaska. What a great couple! Can't say enough about their professionalism, eagerness to help, and beauty of their photos. It has been so much fun working with these two and would recommend to ANYONE looking for a photographer.

    If we could give Bear and Penguin more than 5 stars we would! They were absolutely amazing from start to finish! We have received numerous compliments on our photos and, more importantly, we love them. There are so many great photos it has been difficult to decide on which ones to print and put in our album. The shots from our engagement session and our wedding are fantastic and do a great job of capturing the emotion of the experiences. Scott and Julia are extremely professional and were great at working with us and providing guidance when we needed it. If you are looking for a photographer then you should definitely contact Scott and Julia!

    We found Bear and Penguin online while searching for a good photographer for our wedding in Santa Barbara. What drew us to them was their website which was very informative and included package information and pricing. After we hired them they were constantly in contact especially as the date approached. On the big day they were there early and in contact with the church coordinator. They were very thorough taking pictures and their pictures were great. They were not only a great value but definitely up to other more expensive photographer standards. We loved working with them and would recommend their services.

    Scott and Julia were easy to work with, extremely competent, and professional. They were unobtrusive during our wedding, yet managed to capture many wonderful candid moments.     Scott and Julia were wonderful wedding photographers! They made planning a long-distance wedding super easy and relaxed. They took special care to make sure we got all the shots we wanted on the big day and we are so happy with the results! (they even found a way to get a photo of us with our 90 guests!!). We are so thrilled that we have so many great photos to help us remember our special day.

    We chose Bear (Scott) and Penguin (Julia) Photography to shoot both our engagement photos and wedding. They did an excellent job working with us during our engagement photo session. Scott and Julia made it so much fun that the time flew by. For the wedding, the two worked well as a team with Julia taking photos pre-ceremony of the bride and Scott going with the groom. During the ceremony, Scott focused on the major events unfolding while Julia was in the background taking more candid shots. After the ceremony, we took more group shots and Scott directed us in a professional manner. He is very easy to work with. Finally, at the reception, both were very active and took many photos of our us and our guests. Scott and Julia also did a fantastic job of ensuring they captured all of the minor, painstaking details my wife put into the ceremony and reception. The final edited pictures turned out great with a fast turn around. We were very pleased with our experience with Bear and Penguin Photography and will happily refer them to anyone!

    We selected Bear and Penguin Photography for our wedding, after viewing many stylish, interesting and well executed photos in our first meeting with them (lots of cool candids)! Scott and Julia were really wonderful to work with during the entire experience! They were very organized, punctual, accomodating, well priced and incredibly pleasant! They showed up super early to all meetings and sessions, and seemed really passionate about their work. They were super thorough during our engagement session, and did a really good job of making a potentially awkward experience really nice for us! Scott and Julia really exceeded our high expectations, and both our engagement and wedding photos came out really great! Would recommend to anyone!

    I couldn't have asked for a better team of photographers than Scott and Julia. They took amazingly beautiful photographs on our wedding day (and earlier in the year, they shot our engagement photos). I was worried that photographs inside the Santa Barbara Mission would not turn out well as it is very dark inside; however, they took the time to stake out the Mission months in advance, take practice photos, and figure out where they would set-up to capture the special day. Every photograph turned out beautifully! My husband and I felt so at ease while they were shooting, we barely noticed their presence. Lastly, their price cannot be beat - especially in the high-priced competitive market of Southern California. We would absolutely recommend Bear & Penguin Photography to any friend wanting any type of photos taken!

    We would like to give our full recommendation of Bear and Penguin (aka Scott and Julia) for 1) making planning and having our engagement shoot an enjoyable process and 2) providing a stellar product, beautiful photographs that capture a moment we'd like to remember forever. During the shoot, Scott and Julia made us (a normally camera shy couple) feel comfortable; and that was very apparent in the photographs, which captured us and our love without looking forced. The quality of the photos we received was stellar, and we were so happy to share them with our family and friends. If we have more special occasions to capture in the future, Bear and Penguin Photography is definitely our go-to.

    Scott and Julia did an amazing job with both our engagement and wedding photos. As friends, we knew we could count on them to make us relaxed and comfortable, and to make the photo process fun. As photographers, we had seen their previous work and knew they would do a great job with our own wedding. They took a ton of shots and captured some really meaningful moments. They had to contend with a bright and warm outdoor wedding and handled it really well. They were great about suggesting shots we might not have thought of, and took some creative photos to add to the mix. Having a team of two meant they were able to capture different angles and moments which made for a variety of great photos. The trick now will be to whittle down to the best of the bunch for our photo book. Tons of great shots to choose from. They come highly recommended!

    Scott and Julia are amazing photographers! They captured our personalities and our love perfectly on our wedding day. They even captured the personalities of our families and friends perfectly. Scott and Julia are very professional and they manage to keep a good sense of humor as well. Our families were chaotic when it came to picture time and even though we kept thanking them for having patience with us they were thanking us for having patience with them, which wasn't necessary because they were awesome. They are brilliant photographers and charge a reasonable amount. You can't beat their prices! Plus, they have an adorable name. :)

    Julia and Scott are an amazing team with so much talent. They were
    easy to communicate and work with and helped us to get all of the
    shots of our wedding that we wanted. They captured many beautiful
    moments at the wedding that we wouldn't have gotten to see otherwise.
    One of the best surprises is that they had pictures ready for us to
    view really quickly and continued to communicate and work well with us
    after the wedding was over. We highly recommend this team!

    Julia and Scott did all of the photography for our outdoor wedding ceremony and indoor reception. They did a stellar job and we would recommend them to anyone. In all of our pre-wedding planning they were attentive, warm, organized and professional, offering suggestions but clearly adapting to our needs. In advance they gave us a clear list of what they needed from us to make sure that they could get to work immediately at the event without interrupting us. During the event they were timely and professional, working quietly and quickly and never drawing attention to themselves or demanding attention from us. They worked hard all night, taking only a quick meal break and staying later than agreed to get a few more shots of the reception. They provided us all of our photos, both in proof and final edited form, in a timely fashion and in the formats we requested. The photos looked great, even in our very low-light reception hall, with a good combination of creative and straightforward compositions: we were very impressed.

    Bear and Penguin listened to our wishes and didn't try to strongarm us into a particular "package" or style of shooting. In particular, Julia and Scott carefully considered our requests in a few key areas, and tailored their services accordingly. First, we wanted the majority of our photos to be candid and relaxed. Julia is an exceptional stealth-photographer (gets the best candid shots without people noticing) leaving Scott to work the crowd, and they both worked hard to scope out good viewpoints for these candid photos, even (quietly, unobtrusively) climbing around in the bushes and behind obstacles to get the best shots. Second, we really wanted to tone down the typical wedding pomp, and Julia and Scott mirrored that for us. When we were doing our few posed photos, they chose subtle backdrops and never tried to dramatize the shots. Their relaxed manner made less self-conscious about having our photos taken. They offered a full set of engagement photos and pre- and post-wedding shots (bride getting dressed, posed photos of wedding party), but quickly understood that we wanted things to be low-key, and focused on the candid shots which was what we wanted. We are very grateful to both of them for being both seamlessly professional in covering the event completely and catering carefully to our specific requests. Thanks Julia and Scott - we, along with our friends and family, are very satisfied!

    Scott and Julia flew all the way from California to document out special day in Massachusetts. They were incredibly responsive over the phone and via email. They really put our minds at ease and we had the utmost faith in their craft. We spoke so much regarding the details that we felt as if we had known them for decades. The photos truly documented our day and told a story which we will never forget. It turned out that we needed a hand with the flower arrangements. They helped with that as well. This act was just another example of their desire to make our wedding day go as smoothly as possible.

    Bear and Penguin photography are fantastic photographers, and such a great value! My (now) husband and I had Bear and Penguin take our engagement photos and they were so friendly, creative, and flexible - the day was so fun and we walked away with some AMAZING photos. They continued to impress us once we saw their photo editing skills. We loved all our engagement photos and used them on our wedding website and for our save the date card. We would have hired them for our wedding, but they were already booked! We definitely recommend Bear and Penguin photography!

    I really wanted a local photographer. Julia & Scott captured and created wonderful images both documenting & glamorizing the wedding in such a way that we will be able to choose the Wedding Book look we want. Scott & Julia's presence during the ceremony & reception was low-key and unobtrusive. Yet their coverage was very thorough. I would recommend them without reservation.     Shari and I loved working with Scott and Julia at our wedding reception in Hawaii. Scott and Julia are just the perfect combination of photography fun and professionalism. They know how to get the job done but also know how to guide you through the picture taking process and make it enjoyable. I absolutely loved Scott's upbeat personality. He was always able to make me laugh but at the same time, very good at taking control of situations to get the right shot. His wife, Julia also has a fabulous personality. Julia is one of the sweetest, down to earth people you'll ever meet. She has a creative eye and is always there taking the pictures from different camera angles. They make a great team and are definitely good people. Thank you Scott and Julia for all the beautiful pictures! We love them all!
