The best DJs we could’ve ever asked for!
Our wedding turned into an unforgettable party thanks to these guys. They truly felt the vibe, picked the perfect songs for every moment — from the emotional ceremony to the wild dance floor at the end of the night.
Our guests were obsessed, we didn’t want to leave the dance floor, and even our parents were dancing like it was their prom night! Everything was smooth, professional, stress-free, and full of amazing energy. Communication was easy and warm, and it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing.

Alex was truly the best possible DJ/MC we could have asked for! Music was a big priority for our wedding so from our first call with Alex we knew we were in great hands! He made the planning process super easy and fun with the online portal, and he was always super responsive and easy to talk to if we had any questions. He covered every little detail in our planning meeting and everything was perfect on the day! From the ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception and after party, everything flowed so well and we had so much fun! He was so great at reading the crowd during the dance and somehow made all of our random requests work too! Thank you Alex/Bass & Bliss for making our wedding so incredible! -

Alex, owner of Bass & Bliss was an exquisite DJ/MC for our wedding back in May. His preparation and communication exceeded our expectations.
Alex sought to understand the vibe that we were looking for and also honed in on what we did not want as well. We gave him free rein on music selection (within our genres), with a few exceptions, and he KILLED IT. He kept the mood appropriate for each sub-section of our wedding, he ensured the wedding flowed well in partnership with our coordinator. We couldn't have asked for more.
If you're looking for a stellar DJ for your wedding or event, Alex is your guy. -

DJ Alex Updike is a MUST HAVE at your Wedding. Alex was quick to respond to all our questions and made sure our wedding day went as smooth as possible. Through the pre planning stage he took time to get to know us and our music preferences. On the wedding day Alex was punctual, polite and dressed exceptionally nice. Alex announced everything perfectly and right on cue. He made sure there wasn't a dull moment throughout the entire day. DJ Alex isn't just a great announcer he has a true gift for reading the room, mixing tracks and making seamless song transitions. DJ Alex Updike was the backbone of our entire Wedding day and we are so pleased with his performance. If you are on the fence about getting a DJ, I will tell you from experience, you absolutely need a DJ and you NEED DJ Alex Updike. He is the best there is!!!!Bass & Bliss's reply:

I had the pleasure of coordinating a wedding that Alex was a DJ for. DJs can really make or break a wedding and He is one of the best DJs I have ever worked with! He is professional, kept things on track along with my coordination, and was great about communication! He really captured the couples music wants! Most of all, he was entertaining with announcements and kept the party going!! The dance floor was never empty from start to finish! -

From the beginning, Alex made us feel so supported. He listened so intently to what our vision for our wedding was and he totally delivered. We wanted our wedding music to be different & unique. Everyone at our wedding was blown away by Alex. We felt like we were at a Rufus Du Sol concert in the desert. He kept everyone on the dance floor for 4 hours. My mom even said her and my aunt were just chatting on the dance floor because that’s where everyone was and they wanted to be part of it. Alex was a fantastic DJ not just for our wedding but in the two YEARS it took us to finally have our big day (thx Covid). Alex not only checked in along the way, but he didn't miss a beat when the weekend finally rolled around. After speaking with a couple other DJ's, Alex was a welcome relief in accommodating our wants/playlists for the ceremony and dinner while also bringing his own heat once the dance floor opened up. Good taste while lacking some of the pretension of other DJ's we spoke to. Can't speak highly enough of him.Bass & Bliss's reply:

If you're looking for the best DJ that really caters to your likes and listens to your preferences, look no further! Alex was seriously the best DJ we could have had for our bIG DAY! He was so professional! From our first meeting when he talked about his company, to all the planning for our wedding day for our music through his DJ Portal, to meeting week of to talk details. Everything was absolutely perect. He played all the requests that we wanted and some! We told him the type of music that loved (and even the music we didn't) and he blew our expectations out of the water. He engaged with all of our guests and the ceremony and reception were such a success because of his expertise! I wish I could get married all over again just to have that killer party that he helped us throw for all our friends. Alex is the very BEST of the best. I was cringing at the idea of a cheesy wedding DJ and Alex is ANYTHING but that. From the very first meeting I was so impressed by him: professional, detail-oriented, responsive, and so much more. Exactly the kind of vendor you want on your wedding team. I had the pleasure of coordinating a wedding that Alex Updike DJ-ed a few weeks ago and loved working with him! He was very professional and responsive before the wedding, answering all my questions and problem solving with me. Then on the wedding day he was an immensely positive presence and kept the dance floor going all night, transitioning seamlessly between songs (and bad transitions are a big pet peeve of mine) and making sure that everyone, especially the couple, had a great time. I would absolutely recommend working with Alex Updike to my future clients! -

Alex was our DJ and MC for our wedding at Feast and Fareway in Coronado on Oct 2nd 2021. We knew he would be the perfect DJ for us when we heard one of his wedding mixes on Instagram. The fact that he was born in Iowa (where my wife and I are from) was the cherry on top! He did an awesome job of making the night flow smoothly and had a great set. All of our guests said he was the best DJ they have ever had at a wedding. He had everyone of all ages dancing all night long and even had my wife’s parents on the dance floor which I don’t think has ever happened! When our original DJ unfortunately backed out fairly close to our wedding date, Alex jumped in without hesitation and was an absolute lifesaver. He was flexible, easy to work with and understood exactly the vibe we were going for. His digital platform for requests and event info made planning a breeze, and he was always quick to respond if we had a question or wanted to make a tweak. He did an amazing job at fitting our theme and adapting as the event morphed over time. Our reception was part dance, part pool party and Alex had people not only dancing on the dance floor, but in the pool as well. Couldn't have asked for more!Bass & Bliss's reply:

The perfect DJ
Planning any event can be a pain in the neck, from catering to music it can all be overwhelming. We planned our wedding and discovered Alex on Yelp. Wasn’t hard to find out why he is the number one listed DJ on Yelp for the Palm Springs area. From our first meeting we knew Alex was the right guy for the job; professional presentation and breakdown of his services and left us with all our questions answered. From there he gave us access to a client portal where we entered all of our event details and he can get an idea of the music we like and plan accordingly.
On the day of the even from the minute Alex arrived at the venue I felt at ease as he’s preforming a basic mic check but the attention to detail floored me as I’m getting ready to put on my Tuxedo.
The start of the event went so smoothly and at no point did we stress over the presentation or music throughout the night.
Alex flowed the music to perfection and had the guests on the dance floor until the very end.
I couldn’t ask for a better DJ/Host/Person
Alex also helped us with the photo booth and the photo operator was a pleasant host to our guests and took great pictures. -

Alex was hands down the best pick for our wedding! He is so thorough and made the evening such a success. Before the wedding he talked to us about what kind of music we like and really got to know us and what we were looking for. He emceed the wedding and helped everything run so smoothly. Alex is amazing!! He was truly was so great to work throughout our entire wedding planning, and he delivered exactly as we had hoped on our wedding night. During planning, he answered all our questions so quickly, and was calm and cool and collected and professional throughout everything. He provides a template/questionnaire so he knows exactly what you're looking for. Even better, if you're someone who doesn't know a ton about music, he'll take the reigns. If you're someone who wants a lot of control, he's happy oblige and play whatever you and you want.
