Malik at barrister gardens did a great job. He was very professional and great help throughout the whole process. He did a phenomenal job on the wedding day. We did not hire a wedding coordinator and Malik stepped in and helped whenever he could make us not worry about anything in regards to the hall.

I truly believe choosing Barrister Gardens was the best choice for us and am so thankful for their stuff and their administration to work out all the details.
they even were able to accommodate vegetarian options for more than 100 attendees out of 300.

Barrister Gardens was a great choice for our reception! The banquet hall was renovated earlier this year, so it has a sleek and modern look now. The lobby is stunning and the ballrooms have bright white walls and floors, which makes it very easy to create any look you want. The bar has been modernized as well and is pretty large, so there were no long bar lines or congestion around the bar area all night. I worked with Alexis, the owner’s daughter, to book the first two ballrooms for my wedding. I had enough room for 185 guests, a vendor table, photo booth, gift table, sweets table, cake table, and a sweetheart table on a platform with plenty of room for guests to move around. Alexis is very helpful and flexible. It was easy to change things up until the date the final count was due and I even talked to the chef for an hour as he helped me understand the best menu options for what I was trying to achieve. I selected NY strip steak for my beef option, Chicken Marsala for my chicken option, garden salad with house dressing, and bow tie pasta with garlic and olive oil. You also get a full bar for the entire 6 hours. You can upgrade the bar, but we went with the standard full bar and guests were happy. Everyone said the food was really good and the servers were organized and responsive. The room looked amazing and Alexis checked on us periodically throughout the night (we also had our own day of coordinator). If you are lookin for a modern venue, with reasonable prices, good food, and the flexibility to create your own unique vision, Barrister Gardens is a great choice! The only two areas I would recommend for improvement are the approach to the food tasting and providing steak knives if the NY strip steak option is selected. My tasting was not until two weeks before my wedding and I had to call to inquire about it. Waiting until that close to the wedding date may be too stressful for some brides. Scheduling the tasting soon after the deposit is made would allow couples to finalize their menus, include specific entrees in their invitations, and order their menus cards earlier. With regards to the steak knives, I am not sure If it was just an oversight, but none of the guests had them for their steak. I had to ask one of the servers to bring my husband a steak knife. The server was prompt and brought one right away for my husband, but the guests just had their regular knives to use on the steak. It didn’t stop anyone from eating the steak, but if you opt for the NY strip steak option, make sure you request for all guests who select the steak option to also have steak knives. Overall, it was still a great venue and Alexis was awesome to work with.

The staff was very nice! Being an older first time bride this venue is just what I was looking for!

Oh my goodness! This venue was everything I hoped for and more. The venue is gorgeous, the staff was so professional. I called the ladies in the office almost weekly, if not daily. They addressed all my questions and concerns. I met with the site manager to go over the layout and he shared some great advice. The staff the day of the wedding were the best. They were so accommodating and conveyed exceptional customer service. I will definitely be back!

Great food!! And service was very accommodating! They will have a bridal suite soon too! Overall I wouldn't have had my ceremony and reception anywhere else! By far they best price around and its beautiful!

My reception is going to be at Barrister Gardens. They were flexible about my date and time. The food was great and the staff were professional. I would recommend this venue.

The food and service during our reception was amazing. We had the best staff that night. We just got married on 03/18/2016 and was so much better then I could have thought.

Peggy and Malid have both been great to work with as well as all other staff that I have been in contact with. My wedding is coming very soon, just about 3 weeks away. I just recently went to finalized the menu and and the food was amazing! I was shown different floor plans available as well as detailed overview of the schedule of each moment. I've been able to just pop in w/o appt just to make a payment or discuss my reception details. So far so good with BG. I'm just so excited and can hardly wait to the big day. I'm confident that everyone in attendance will be in aww of Barrister Gardens, I must say it has been beautifully design and gorgeous chandeliers. I'll check back

I've used barrister gardens for many personal events and the food selection is excellent! The food is delicious, the service is professional and friendly!
Recently barrister gardens donated a meal for our teacher appreciation week and EVERYBODY absolutely loved it!
Barrister Gardens provided such delicious food and is definitely a 5 star banquet hall! Highly recommend to all!

Barrister Gardens was by far the most amazing hall to work with and EXTREMELY reasonable in price. They worked with us and our needs and the food is phenomenal. All of our guests were raving about the food and the venue. Couldn't be happier!

i want to thank linda and peggy and all management at the barrister gardens. i had over 500 people at my wedding. the food was delicious, and the service was the best. i also want to thank the chefs for an outstanding job.

I was the maid of honor at my sisters wedding at barrister gardens. i went with her to every appointment so i have a few things to say about the place and it's staff. the office person Peggy was just great. she helped us plan every detail of how the night would go. the day of the wedding we took pics on the winding staircase which was so cool! the food was also phenomenal! joan the bathroom attendant was so nice and personal. i don't know how this place could get any negative reviews as our night went FANTASTIC! when i get married i will definitely look into barrister again for my reception.

Its been remodeled since our last time here. The manager Linda helped us emmensely from the time we walked in to book, to the second our wedding ended. The experience was perfect. Thanks Linda and ber staff for doing such a wonderful job. Not one thing went wrong.

The food was EXCELLENT. The flaming rib, fabulous. The sweet table, beautiful. The service was the best and everything went smooth. The place was very clean. Im planning my baby shower there for 2013.

I had my wedding at Barrister Gardens 12/14/12. I first met with the owner Jimmy who is extremely personable. He worked with us to provide an exceptional price for my 500 guests. On my wedding date the hall was beautiful. The food was great. Mine and my husbands filet was cooked perfectly! The staff were so helpful. My family was so happy with the way everything turned out and so am I. Thank you Barrister Gardens!

I had my reception there June 10,2012 and I would like to take the time out to express how wonderful the food,sevice and your staff were. I was afraid after reading the comments that my day would not go as planned. My guest enjoyed the food saying how awesome it tasted. The service was so professional and courtesy
through the entire affair. I can honestly say that Malik made sure everything was perfect and attentive to all our needs.If anyone is looking to use The Barristers Garden I would highly recommmend.

Everyone was very accommodating and very helpful during the whole process. Have NO complaints about the food and or the venue. Malec also really helped make sure everything was taken care of for the day and day before. Had one hick up when setting up on Friday but as soon as he got there he made it right ;) Would highly recommend looking at this beautiful venue !

We dealt primarily with Rita during our planning process and she was so sweet and accommodating. The venue looks absolutely gorgeous since their renovation and we heard so many compliments on how beautiful it was. There was a thunderstorm during our outdoor ceremony causing us to come to Barrister a few hours earlier than planned and Rita was so kind to let us take shelter there and clean up before our pictures were to be taken. The food was awesome, the bartender was a ROCKSTAR and the servers packed us up so much food which was totally unexpected but much appreciated. My only complaint is that once the reception began, we couldn't locate someone who could assist with the temperature of the room so it did get quite hot and a lot of guests were sitting outside but other than that, (to be fair, there was also another wedding going on so it's possible that could have been tending to them) I'd recommend them to anyone!

When meeting with the ladies at barrister gardens we were welcomed instantly, they were very flexible with us on many things giving us a better look at a great budget,

I've never had to rent a hall before, but if I must say, I think this is how they should all treat their clients! I was treated well all through the process. I didn't like that there were two other weddings going on the same day, but I guess that's what you get when you book somewhere this large, with 4 separate rooms. The food was good for what I like to call "hall food" nothing special, but for the price, not bad! I would use them for other events.

We had a GREAT experience with having our reception at Barrister. Peggy was absolutely wonderful to work with, was always available to answer questions, and gave me no problem making changes. Other vendors were able to get in the room early enough to get all set up without having to rush, and had no problems. Food was excellent- everyone complimented the cheesy mashed potatoes! :) Only issue was that the air went out, for a brief time, but they were right on top of it, and got it working pretty quick.
Overall, we were very pleased with our experience at Barrister Gardens!

My daughter got married there and had a reception that followed. Food was amazing and service there was incredible. The size is great for 160 people. Our issues while minor were: After the ceremony visitors had to exit the building into the cold (12/6) and walk around the building to reenter. Not a big deal but is cumbersome. Main issue was with staff that decided to scrub the floor as guests waited to get in the door and another who ran a loud sweeper in the ceremony room after guests were seated. Other than these 2 issues they are great to work with and the venue is set but very nice!

Our wedding turned out beautiful! They let us come the daye before to set up and the staff was extremely friendly. All of this and it was one of the least expensive venues. I would definitely recommend!

Coming from a Hmong family in the Metro Detroit area it's hard to find a beautiful banquet hall that will accommodate our cultural food and understand our religious ceremonial needs. We were lucky enough to find Barrister Gardens and they accommodated EVERY request that we made and addressed any concerns that came up. The biggest part was allowing us to bring in our own caterer. Not to mention the venue is already so elegant and beautiful that you didn't have to worry about bringing in much decor. The wait staff was also very friendly. My night was perfect. Thank you Barrister Gardens!

We had our wedding reception at Barrister Gardens for a steal - look for their end of the year specials if you are looking for venues at the end of the year. The food was amazing - we are still getting compliments about it! The hall manager threw in a few extras to our package and day of the staff, especially the bartenders, were very professional and friendly. Leading up to the day dealing with the hall manager was hit or miss, during most talks she forgot key things about our wedding which had us nervous, but day of things were great.

We have many of our family venues held here. We held our Bridal Shower and Wedding Reception here. The food tastes amazing every time. Service is great for the price. Staff is friendly. The management team makes sure to make your day as Perfect as they can. It was a wonderful time. Thank you!!

They were good and we got a great price. The receptionist was not a nice lady and we almost changed venues because of her. The manager was great and fixed the issues we had.

As a bride looking for venues my husband decided to go with them and I followed but I did most of the communicating and when we would call we got one price and when we would go make the payment we'd get another price. Then on the majority of occasions they would misplace the file for our event and even not have the appropriate balance. Peggy was horrible in the beginning and finally I started speaking to someone else becomes she was rude. She told me when I asked for th balance upon leaving "she was busy and to call back later" however she was already closing my file in front of me when she could have just calculated it then so I left and decided once this is over id never use them again the records should always be in order ALWAYS!!!!!

We bargained for a nice room and made sure we had them right the name of the room on the contract so they wouldn't change it. They were very nice to let us come in the day before to set up.

The tasting was very good but the day of our wedding our food was terrible. We had the herb roasted chicken and it was so dry and crunchy that the bones were brittle inside the chicken! As the wedding party, a waiter was suppose to give us drinks but came around only once. As far as the cake, they cut and wrap it for you. However, you have to buy stuff to wrap it in. Also, our reception ended at 6 and before the last song was over...the staff came in and started clearing out our room...including throwing away tons of our decorations! We were rushed out by 6:10 as they were setting up for the next wedding...was not a fan! Had they told us we would be so rushed out...would have started clearing out ourselves so we didn't have to lose all our stuff!

The manager was very nice. The location is beautiful and the distance from the ceremony location is very convenient

I would NOT recommend this hall. We had so many problems with them. After our wedding I called to speak with the owner and he didn't return my phone calls. He finally returned my call once I posted negative reviews about the hall online. He meet with us and decided to give us back a very little amount of money to try to make us happy. He knew we weren't happy, but he just wanted us to remove the negative feedback from the internet. We did, but I'm still not happy and I want everyone to know that I would never use the Barrister Gardens or his new hall at 25 and Van Dyke ever!

Overbooked all rooms where Overbooked, nobody was assigned to our head table, Rita was nice while we paid, but after became arrogant and Dismissive, the food was wrong, and undercooked,dirty plates on tables, I would NEVER RECOMMEND Barrister Gardens to any of my friends nor Associates, they are only for the Money no Respect, they used high school kids,

We got married at the Clinton Township Civic Center Gazebo. Everyone loved the gazebo setting. It was perfect. We had our reception at Barrister Gardens in St. Clair Shores. The rooms are beautiful and the price is fair but our service was horrible. The lady we worked with in the beginning was great. She rolled everything into one fee and all was well. Sometime just before our wedding the lady stopped working there and we begin working with the owner. He was a real piece of work, talking down to us as if we were beneath him, and trying to undo the contract that was already signed. There was an accounting error made on their part and on the day of the wedding he threatened to cancel if we didn't pay the difference from their error. He was by the far the worst experience I had ever had with an owner. In the end I wished we would have never canceled Addison Oaks. On the day of my wedding there was an Indian wedding going on. I guess it is the India tradition for the men to wash their feet in the toliet. So my male guest went to Burger King to use the restroom because it was filled with men from India washing their feet in the toliet. It was the worse personal experience ever. The bulk of my guess never knew what went on behind the scenes and loved the beautful room, but it was not worth the trouble. I would never recommend doing business with them or their other banquet facility Barrister House to anyone. What a nightmare.

I attended a wedding at Barrister Gardens on Sat,July 23, 2011. The only thing nice I can say is the room was beautiful(Alexis). The food was horrible, the bartender was rude and made the weakest drinks ever! Not only was she rude she reminded guest of the tip jar. The servers were rude ad they quickly grab plates and glasses off the table.. The ladies bathroom was horrible. Tissue everywhere it was just nasty! For the amount money paid for this hall they should have bathroom aattendants. I mean really who wants to usr a nasty bathroom. Keep checking venues!

Food at Barristers was good and the hall was nice BUT they ruined my cake that i paid $600 dollars for by wrapping it in paper napkins without my knowledge! Me nor my guest got to eat the cake! When I reached out to them they said it was my fault!! NOT TRUE Why would they wrap the cake in paper napkins and not serve it on a plate?! I paid $1000 in gratuity! The owner who was RUDE and didnt want to reimburse me for the cake so we are suing them! Also I paid for a premium bar with Absolute vodka but not sure what they gave me bc it was in a gun? Also the bartender got an attitude bc I kept asking for drinks! I asked him did he have a problem and he replied "Im just gonna keep serving until management tells me to stop" Huh... I paid till 11pm so you will pour till 11pm! Also the have new workers every few months so you always have to talk to a new person! STAY AWAY NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE!!! DONT LET THEM RUIN YOUR SPECIAL DAY!

I would not even give these people any part of a star rating. This was the most horrific experience of my life. When I had my first consultation with them everything seemed hunky dory and was great. I really liked the room and the size of the hall and what they had to offer. When my mother went to pay the deposit on the hall the women had lost my information! It should have been a red flag but I was pressed for time because my fiancé is in the Marines and is leaving for a deployment. Next the lady that was in charge of my wedding stopped working there, I never got my contract signed and was never notified about the switch. When my fiancé got new deployment papers we had to change our wedding date. The first time I called they didn't have my information and when they did find it MY WEDDING WAS FOR THE WRONG DATE!!! Next when i asked if i could move the date they said I would have to pay an additional 600 deposit because and i quote "couples who move the dates around our less likely to get married and we don't want to waste our time and money on that" Not only did she insult my relationship but barrister gardens was trying to break the law. There are laws protect soldiers and sailors out there for mistreatment due to a deployment. The women reduced me to tears and also argued with my mother. I pulled out from getting married there and I don't recommend that any one EVER have there reception there. Also they don't do food tasting, what the hell kind of reception hall doesn't let you taste what you are getting. This place is over rated, and does NOT treat there brides how they should be treated. I hope they go out of business and SOON!
