I am so glad I picked this venue. Just received my pictures back and they are beautiful! Lauraleigh and staff were splendid to work with as well.

Beautiful Elegant Wedding venue
If you want a venue that is very unique definitely look at Ashton Villa! They saved the day 3 days before my all outdoor wedding was forecasted for rain ( Sunday Sept 9, 2018). Thankfully they responded quickly that they had an opening and prepared a contract for us that day! The pricing was very reasonable and the Grounds were impeccable. The estate is very elegant and classically restored. My guests were very impressed by the mansion. Beautiful wood floors, chivari chairs, high ceilings, Grand Chandelier, Large fireplace, and stage made for an unforgettable evening! They also have a handicap ramp and plenty of free parking which is a plus!-

We had our reception for about 60 people at Ashton Villa. The venue is amazing! You need minimal decorations because it's so beautiful on its own! Rachael with the Galveston County Historical Foundation (in charge of everything) was so easy to work with! The week before our wedding, she decided to randomly let us use the entire first floor without charging us for the two additional rooms! It was perfect! -

Garten Verein is a historical monument in Galveston. It used to be a German garden club in the early 1900's. I absolutely loved the building. It is beautiful and the setting is even better. It is located in Kempner Park which is a lovely park with huge old trees. Vicki is the contact to rent and she was very nice. It was very affordable since it is owned by the city. -

Vicki is amazing to work with! This was by far the best venue that we found for the price. Our reception was everything we could ever ask for! I highly recommend it! -

Beautiful historic home, on the island made for the most beautiful wedding photos. Perfect ballroom, and comfortable parking. Perfect location, and the service was very helpful. -

Vicki was amazing to work with. We got married at St. Joseph’s Church and used Ashton Villa for the reception. Everyone was amazed by both locations. I would highly recommend both places for those wanting something you don't see everyday. We had so many compliments about both venues. -

We had our ceremony and reception here. Ceremony in the garden area and reception indoors. Let me say that this place is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! You really have to see it! They did a full remodel after Hurricane Ike and I feel so lucky to have had our wedding in such a stunning place. If you're going for a vintage vibe then this place is perfect! I'm still having guests compliment me on how beautiful Ashton Villa was.
We had 110 guests and it was a perfect size. You have the option to rent out just the ballroom or the front rooms and the ballroom so we did that. We had our cocktail hour in the rooms to the right, the buffet set up in the room to the left (if was perfect for this because it's a large room and has two doors to enter and exit) and then our reception in the ballroom. They have this huge lovely chandelier in the ballroom that made our photos awesome!
Vicki is who you will be working with and she was so great! So nice, accommodating, and got back to me right away if I had any questions. She's very laid back and I was stress free working with her! Also, the pricing was great! They are an open venue so they offer you tables and chairs so you will need to find your own venders. They do offer their recommendations but you can chose who you want as long as you let them know. I liked this because I didn't want to be restricted to have to use my venues venders.
Even if you're not planning on having a wedding here you should go take a look at Ashton Villa. It's quite beautiful and has very interesting history behind the house. I'd also be happy to show pics of our wedding! :) -

The Ashton Villa is not only lovely, but has an extremely helpful staff. Vicki Amundsen was endlessly helpful in not only booking our venue, but helping us find other vendors (especially important since we planned our wedding from 1000 miles away.) The Villa has a beautiful ballroom and gardens, and you are allowed to set up for your event throughout the day in addition to the time booked for the event. For a couple like us who wanted to get married and have the reception at the same location, this was ideal. The venue has parking off street as well.
One small downside, it is right next door to the Salvation Army, and as such the homeless tend to congregate during the day on the side lawn outside the fence to the Harris Garden. A few members of my wedding party were concerned about this, but we had no problems. Be aware, the Galveston Historical Society requires security for all events or you forfeit your security deposit.

This venue is incredibly unique and also listed on the National Register for Historic Places. We found it to be the perfect indoor/outdoor space for our guests and the beautiful chandeliers at Ashton Villa added just the right touch to our reception pictures. -

This venue is a great place for the value. It was flooded during hurricane Ike which was after we booked it and before we used it. The beauty of the floors washed away with saltwater but the home is beautiful still and we had an amazing wedding without too much trouble. There is a few regulations that come with having your wedding in a historic home but nothing that cant be worked around. They give you 6 complementary hours to decorate and the option to have your rehearsal dinner there during business hours for no extra charger. Vicki Amundsen who coordinates the bookings was very professional and accomodating even despite the aftermath of the hurricane. -

We looked at three venues in Galveston. This was a destination wedding. We were happy with the venue. It was a nice setting. We had an inside wedding in the ballroom in cathedral style seating. We then turned he ballroom over into the reception venue for dinner and dancing. This worked out nicely. They have 165 chairs and 20 (60" round) tables for use. They related that they would seat ten people, but eight was great and nine was a little tight.
We wanted to have the bride and groom look at the venue. This was like pulling teeth to get into the actual house to see all of the space we were renting. There was apparently only one person who was entrusted with the key to the house. No one else with the Galveston Historical Society could show the house. Thus, on the third trip down from DC, the bride finally got to look at the entire venue. We had to beg to get the keeper of the key to come in on a Monday morning to show it the third time. Hopefully they will get this fixed so that they are more flexible. -

In the beginning we dealt with Rachael, she was nice but it would have been good to get a email that she was leaving. Instead I got no response to my emails and had to email who was now on the website just to find out she was gone. Laura Leigh, was awesome and very accommodating. It was a pleasure working with her. My only other issue was the person they had on sight for the venue. I was told that she was suppose to be there for the venue and lights and air . She was more in the way and came in while I was dressing and trying to help there. Gave myself(Bride) and Groom amongst other people Attitude(Did not find out till after the wedding) . I would say just make sure you let them know that that is not what they need to be doing . The building and outside gazebo made for the perfect wedding setting. Ourselves and our guest were very happy and loved the building !!! Lots of people read up on the history of the building before they came. -

The building was beautiful and the wedding stunning. But the employees were rude and not very kind or helpful. I would recommend the location but you're on your own as far as making plans. -

I used this place b/c it is a beautiful house. But it rained on my wedding day and the roof leaked. So the floors were slippery and DIRTY ! The caretakers who worked my wedding were so rude to me and my guests it ruined part of my wedding day ! So even though the house is pretty and went with my theme, I wish I would have shopped around before I booked this place. I was not happy and would not recommend this place to other brides. -
