I couldn’t have found a better photographer to get our family photos taken in Kauai— Ashley is simply the best! Very clear communication, quick to respond, easy to get along with. She knew how to build rapport with both my husband and I as soon as we met, she also made my boys feel like family immediately as if we’ve known her for a long time making the shoot feel more natural.
During our shoot, she was also able to get shots of this father and son tandem who’s been practicing surfing for several mornings already and she gave them her contact info so she can provide the photos to them as a core memory. How cool was that!
Once we were done, she also made some recommendations on where to eat and hang out in the north shore, a secret beach that was so fun to discover!
We got our photos very quickly and we were so happy with how they turned out! Just in time for us to get it printed for our holiday cards too!
I highly recommend you book Ashley to capture the best memories of your trip/special occasion! You won’t regret it!

What a great find! Found Ashley when looking for a family photo shoot while visiting Kauai. Up front she is incredibly responsive and professional. She made booking a breeze and made great suggestions for location and time based on our needs and goals. Once we were on the island, we had a snag with an illness but she was so accommodating and we're fortunate her schedule allowed for a last minute change. At the photo shoot she had a plan and quickly assessed the different mini groups in our clan. She was so good with the children and easily accommodated a disabled family member leaving no one out. When the photo gallery arrived we are all thrilled with how well they turned out. Will above our expectations. She is so talented.

Elopement in Kauai
Ashley was our photographer for our elopement in Kauai and let me tell you, she was INCREDIBLE! We had a sunrise ceremony and her energy was infectious for the whole day! My husband and I had never taken professional photos before so we had no clue what we were doing, but Ashley made us feel super comfortable. We received our photos back and fell in love! I had multiple people tell me they were the coolest and most beautiful wedding pictures they had ever seen! I cannot recommend her enough! We also felt her price was extremely affordable compared to others that we saw!

Ashley was absolutely fantastic to work with, she was amazing from my initial inquiry to her. She communicated so well, we were sent a meeting spot and were even updated by her morning of as well. She had an umbrella for me as it was drizzling prior to our photos. I felt like a friend was taking our photos, she was so kind, fun & personable. We were so comfortable and laughed alot during our photos. Hanalei Bay is gorgeous and she positioned us in all the different angles. I'd use her for all my photos if I wasn't just vacationing there. A photographer who cares!
We went to Hawaii to celebrate a family friend’s wedding. They weren’t going to have a traditional wedding, but we wanted someone to take family photos during the trip. Ashley made everyone feel comfortable from the get go. She patiently waited as we all ordered coffee from the local coffee shop where we met up for our sunrise shoot, and made sure we had all the shots we wanted before we ended. We also emailed her about a surprise for the family and she helped execute it successfully while capturing beautiful photos of everyone’s reactions!

Our Hanalei Bay intimate wedding, 5/5/2025
I cannot say enough good things about Ashley. From the start, she put us at ease (especially since it was looking like rain on Hanalei Bay). She made taking our wedding photos FUN. A great example is Ashley asking us if we'd take off our shoes and romp around in the ocean. Those impromptu photos are my favorite! Ashley was genuinely happy and excited for us and having a wedding with just us two, it felt like she was not just our photographer, but our friend. We felt the same way about our wedding officiant. We relied on her to choose our photographer and we would choose both of them again. They work so well together. Mahalo Ashley! If I lived in Kauai, I would want to be your friend. Over the top fantastic services
Ashley (Ashley Valera Photography) was awesome! Check out her website to see samples of her work, but we know firsthand what a wonderful job she did. She, the videographer, and the officiant worked together seamlessly so that all could do their own work while not interfering with the others. It was a well-oiled machine.
We were married on Shipwreck Beach. There are cliffs/bluffs adjacent to the beach and after the ceremony (sunrise, so Ashley had to be up and ready to go first thing in the morning) Ashley walked us up to the cliff tops and spent a LOT of time with us setting up poses and pictures. For many of the photographs she had to walk to other cliffs and shoot back toward us. She put in a lot of effort to get some really great pictures from many different angles. By the end it was already getting warm and she just kept going.
Ashley charged a reasonable rate and, quite frankly, put in more work than we could have reasonably expected.
We highly recommend Ashley. If you, like us, are not locals and are taking a leap of faith with those you hire to capture the moment, Ashley is an exceptional choice.

Ashley was such a joy to work with during our mini photo session in Kauai! When I initially placed my inquiry with her in September, she was quick to get back to me and gave me a quote that was fairly priced compared to others in the area. Prior to the shoot, she sent instructions on where to meet her that were easy to follow since my husband and I had not been to the Hanalei Bay area.

She will put herself in crazy positions (literally on the edge of a cliff) to get you the photo you want! She is so kind and thoughtful. Absolutely Amazing
Ashley was a joy to work with on our wedding day. She was prepared for whatever weather present itself on that day. It was slightly rainy and somewhat gloomy with rainbows and crashing waves. She was able to catch it all with her talented eyes. I would choose Ashley over and over again. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful Photographer on Kauai
Ashley photographed our 20th anniversary celebration and she was fabulous! She asked lots of questions beforehand to ensure that she captured those important memories just as we would like. She arrived early and was also very responsive in terms of emails and texts. Her photos were thoughtful, fun, and beautiful! She made sure to take extra shots of the large group when we had a few blinkers. She framed the outdoor scenery well, both during and after the rain, and also captured the natural expressions of our family. She was patient as we waited for some rain to clear and even lingered longer than expected to see if we might be able to capture a guest who had an unexpected situation come up. We loved the final images! I highly recommend Ashley. She was a pleasure to work with (sweet, easy-going, fun) and her photos were exactly what we had hoped for.

We hired Ashley to complete our family photos and they turned out great! She was professional, kind, and punctual (for emails and on the day). She helped my husband and I and our three young adult children feel relaxed for our photos. Ashley took a variety of poses and utilized different backgrounds (greenery and the ocean) at Hanalei. At the end, she asked us if there were any other poses we would like. Within the 2-week timeframe, she provided us a gallery of all the pictures she took. We had a great experience with her!
Ashley is an absolute gem. Not only is she an incredibly creative and talented photographer, but she is also one of the sweetest and most thoughtful people you’ll meet. My husband and I had the best time taking photos with her at our wedding. She made us feel so relaxed and comfortable. She is also a great listener and problem solver, which is exactly what a bride or groom needs on their special day! If you're first-time visitors like we were, she knows the best spots to capture the magic of Kauai. When she sent me our photos, I gasped. I never imagined I’d have such GORGEOUS shots! Perfect proposal

Such an incredible experience from communication, flexibility, to pictures. We were on the island for 6 days, did our engagement and got a recommendation while we were there to have Ashley do our photos. THANKFULLY she was available 2 days after our engagement. Ashley had us do a sunrise shoot in Hanalei Bay, and wow was it worth the early morning drive. She was so flexible meeting us, and knew exactly what shots where needed and where. The pictures could not have been better, we absolutely recommend her to anyone who is visiting Kauai for a photo shoot. Pricing was also very reasonable for the quality, don’t miss out!!

Totally worth it photo experience

Sunrise with my finance on Kaua'i
My finance and I did a sunrise couples shoot and loved it. We had a small wedding but we wanted our photos to be amazing and they are!

Stunning Photography....Exceptional Photographer
Our experience with Ashley has to be hands down our best photography experience in 25 years of marriage. We booked a session for our 25th anniversary. Ashley was exceptional. Her personality was great, we felt like we were doing a photo shoot with an old friend. She made us comfortable and that shows in our photos. Now the photos...they’re stunning, absolutely breathtaking, we LOVE them and would book Ashley again in a heartbeat. They capture the love we feel for each other, the surreal beauty of the landscape and sooo much more. I can not recommend Ashley highly enough. She made us feel so comfortable
We were really nervous about taking our wedding photos but Ashley made us feel very comfortable right from the beginning. She is very friendly and has great energy. She will also tell you how to pose Snd make you look great. Our photos from our wedding and our day after session were simply stunning.

The photos Ashley took during out day after session were amazing! Oh she also told us it was going to be about 4-6 weeks to view all our wedding photos.....In reality it took only 4 days!!!

Beautiful natural photography!
As a photography enthusiast, I can recommend Ashley.
She was up to drive all the way up to Tunnels Beach to capture our special day and then she delivered beautiful photos, with a very real and natural style, no crazy Lightroom edits as other photographers seemed to offer.
