We simply could not have asked for a better photographer than Ashley. Not only is Ashley's photography amazingly stunning, she is also a kind soul who made us feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment we met her. She captured every single aspect of our day in grand fashion and not once did we ever feel awkward or forced. Ashley even served as a de facto, assistant wedding planner at times, helping coordinate group photos, the first look, and other smaller details in an organized, timely manner. Ashley and her team are incredibly professional, but also down-to-earth and tremendously easy and fun to work with. We HIGHLY recommend Ashley Cox to any couple looking for wedding photography! -

Ashley is insanely talented and SO wonderful to work with. We were drawn to the romantic and natural style of her photos when choosing a photographer. Leading up to our wedding, she was incredibly responsive and kind which was so helpful during the planning stages. We hired her to take both photos of our rehearsal dinner and our wedding- and could not be happier with the beautiful photos we received. Ashley and her team made my husband and I feel so calm and at ease taking photos. A sudden sun shower struck during our outdoor ceremony and knowing that we'd be a little upset, she made a point to show us how beautiful the rain looked in the photos afterwards. Multiple guests mentioned to us how great our photographer was and how they enjoyed having their picture taken by her. We recently received all of our photos back and are completely floored by how stunning they are! She also captured some special candid moments without us even noticing she was there. We can't stop looking through them and finding another favorite. Ashley is the absolute best and we cannot recommend her highly enough! -

Ashley is absolutely incredible and so talented. We hired her for our May 2022 wedding and could not be happier with the photos. Additionally, her presence is amazing. She is so calm, easy to work with, and gives just the right amount of direction that made us feel at ease and natural. People came up to me during our wedding to say how amazing our photographer was, and that was before we even saw any pictures! She captured everything perfectly, from the posed photos to the candid ones, and we are obsessed with every picture in our gallery (which we received so quickly!). Like most brides, I was hoping for a sunny wedding day but the day was overcast and rainy. Ashley's photos made me wonder why I ever wanted sun in the first place! She made the rain look so dreamy and even jumped into a bush to capture some of my favorite photos of the day. Her style is timeless and romantic and she manages to capture the emotion of the moment so when we look at our pictures, we don't just see a beautiful image, we actually feel the happiness we felt that day. Simply put, we absolutely loved working with Ashley and adore our photos. We recommend her 100%!!! -

Working with Ashley is an absolute dream! She is SO very talented (I think one of her most special gifts as a photographer is her ability to "find the light"). She knows how to work that sunlight! She brings the sunshine, herself, too, by always being warm, friendly, and encouraging. She is the perfect combination of professional and friend in the photoshoot process. "Words of affirmation" is one of both my husband's and my top love languages, and Ashley was so affirming during both our engagement shoot and wedding shoot. She made our inexperienced posing selves feel like models in front of her camera. -

My husband and I were looking for the absolute best vendors in the business for our August 2020 wedding. We were willing to bring in anyone from anywhere in the United States to hire the best photographer. Luxury, detail, romance, beauty, 5 star service, experienced, professional, advanced, high touch , best of the best .... all were qualifications for being part of our team of vendors. That exactly what we got in Ashley Cox. After extensive research searching for the best photographer, it was Ashley’s Instagram photos of other couples weddings that drew us to her. We wanted light and airy- magical lighting - romantic- we wanted to be photographed without knowing we were being photographed - we wanted dramatic detail - candid and natural- we wanted feelings and emotions captured not just faces. Ashley delivered in every area. Not one moment or detail was missed. Not only is she a phenomenal photographer, but she has incredible artistic skills above all the rest and a superior ability to photograph with film , making the images extra magical . Above all she is kind, professional , smart, artistically gifted, and extremely personable and can create any kind of package to meet your needs. She is extremely respected in the event industry. Ashley is truly the BEST! As a Charlottesville local, I have always adored Ashley’s work. As soon as I started wedding planning, speaking with Ashley was the very first thing I did— securing her was my first priority!
Her photos speak for themselves as she is truly an artist and exceptionally talented. However, equally as important for a wedding photographer is their demeanor and professionalism. I was nervous (to say the least) before the ceremony and Ashley’s comforting energy and special spirit made me all the more grateful she was my wedding photographer.
I have a huge family, and Ashley wrangled them all effortlessly. I’ve never seen a photographer handle my family so well! My entire family and wedding party loved her and have raved about her work.
I recommend Ashley so very highly. She remains calm in the chaos, is efficient, patient, gracious, and is wildly-talented. She is truly an artist, and will go above and beyond for you! -

I couldn't recommend Ashley more strongly - she is incredible. On the day of the wedding - the emotional range of our friends and family was a mix of sentimental, stressed, exuberant, energetic, and... maybe tipsy. Ashley managed everyone and our schedule well, while being incredibly warm, friendly, and fun. She kept my husband and I feel comfortable in front of the camera... a truly hard task. I was blown away by the images we received , as well as the candid moments and conversations she was able to document, without us ever noticing she was there. We'll treasure the pictures forever. -

Ashley was incredible to work with for our Indian-American wedding! She captured exactly what we wanted - candid, natural shots - while also recognizing and picking up the symbolic moments to our Indian wedding (as well as pre-wedding festivities). She was really responsive to all of our questions throughout the entire process. We could't recommend her more! -

Ashley is a consummate professional. I don't like having my picture taken, but she made us feel so comfortable. At the wedding itself, she was nearly invisible, but when we got the pictures back... It was awesome. She captured so many perfect, candid moments. Would recommend for someone who wants a premium experience. -

Do yourself a favor and hire Ashley for your wedding, event, family photos, etc. - she is absolutely AMAZING!! We hired her for our June wedding and it was the best money we spent, hands down. Everything from coordinating our engagement shoot to planning the shots we wanted at the wedding was seamless. Ashley is not just a wedding photographer; she is a true artist and has an incredible talent for styling shoots on the fly, troubleshooting in challenging environments, and making everyone feel SO comfortable. One of my main concerns with our photos was that we would look stiff - with Ashley that was not an issue. She had us laughing and feeling so relaxed from the very beginning. On our wedding day, Ashley was extremely efficient and worked around our desire to have the first look at the ceremony, while also somehow getting all the shots we wanted plus a lot more. We even made the last 15 minutes of our cocktail party! The photos are art-quality, timeless, and everything we hoped they would be - she captured the day exactly as we remembered it, even the crazy-packed dance floor! I really cannot recommend Ashley enough, we will absolutely be using her again in the future!! -

I would highly recommend Ashley Cox Photography! I just received my wedding photos, and I am blown away. She captured each moment beautifully, and I can't wait to hang them on my wall and send them to family and friends. Ashley is also a joy to work with! I asked her tons of random wedding questions, because I was new to the wedding planning process, and she always answered me right away. On the day of, everyone loved getting to know Ashley. I am so glad she was a part of my wedding day, and I will cherish her photographs for a long time. -

I got married 2 months ago, and my husband and entire family simply cannot say enough amazing things about Ashley! We first met her during our engagement shoot about one year before our wedding, and she was just the kindest, most fun person to work with. We instantly felt so comfortable with her, and we absolutely loved our engagement pictures. She stayed in touch with us and answered all our questions in the months leading up to our wedding. On our wedding day, we were both so excited to see her again. You can tell that she truly is passionate about her work and puts her whole heart into every single wedding. She made us feel so special all day, and we had a fantastic time taking pictures together. When our wedding photos came back, we just could not stop smiling looking through them. I still can't stop looking at them! They are so incredibly special. She captured our most magical day perfectly - seeing each other for the first time during our first look, the expression on my dad's face when he saw me in my wedding dress, gorgeous pictures of our ceremony with the Blue Ridge backdrop, beautiful family portraits, the pure joy on our faces during our first dance, and the fun everyone had during our reception. We, along with our families, will treasure these photos for the rest of our lives. Thank you Ashley for capturing my most favorite memories so beautifully! -

Beautiful photos, great to work with
Ashley is a really sweet lovely person. We were a little nervous about having our engagement photos taken, but she made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. Our wedding had a sort of organic, overgrown woodland magic theme, and Ashely completely saw our vision and showcased all the design elements we were really proud of. But more importantly, she took soooo many amazing photos that captured the feeling of the day and the emotions we were all going through. We didn't have a videographer and honestly didn't need one because we have so many photos. I've had many many compliments on my wedding photos and how professional and high quality they are. -

Ashley Cox Photography is Amazing!
We were blown away by the quality of our wedding photographs that we received from Ashley. Ashley photographed our wedding on 12/1/18 and the quality AND quantity of photographs that we received was absolutely amazing. Opening my photos was like Christmas morning all over again, but better! Ashley captured all of the most memorable moments of my wedding and more. I highly recommend Ashley Cox Photography as her romantic, unique style truly creates some of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen. -

When researching photographers for our wedding, Ashley was quickly my top choice just based on her photos. After contacting her to see about cost and availability, she was kind and genuine and willing to work with us to get a package that was right for us. We live in the Baltimore area but loved the beauty of the House Mountain Inn. She worked with us to create a package that did not include engagement pictures but instead included something else.
When our wedding day came, it poured all afternoon. Ashley was very flexible and calm through the hectic prewedding pictures. She moved up our first look so that we could get some pictures before the rain started. Luckily, our venue had a huge porch, and we were still able to get beautiful pictures despite the rain. I would recommend Ashley to anyone looking for a kind and quality photographer.

Alex Sent on 07/18/2018When we were looking for a photographer for our engagement photos, my (then) fiancé and I came across Ashley's work on Instagram. The first thing that we noticed was how her pictures all seemed to have a personality to them that we couldn't find anywhere else. There are a thousand beautiful places to take pictures in Charlottesville, but something about her way of shooting those places really distinguished her work from everyone else's. We could not have been more thrilled with the results of our engagement photos. We both loved working with her. Just based on how easy it was to be ourselves when we were with her, we made her promise to do our wedding as well...even though we had no clue what the pictures looked like yet. We were not disappointed.
Our wedding pictures were everything that we could've hoped for and more. Ashley was so wonderful in the way she handled the event. She is professional and efficient, while at the same time warm and enthusiastic. I have been to too many weddings where it feels like the photographer is taking the spontaneity out of the event, or forcing everyone into totally unnatural situations, making everyone uncomfortable and/or annoyed in the process. There was never a time where she took anyone out of the moment; on the contrary, she helped to create so many amazing moments for us. There is absolutely no one that we would have rather had working with us to shoot such a beautiful day in our lives together.
We really cannot do her justice with a few paragraphs. Please look at her work to see for yourself. We will certainly be begging her to come see us, wherever we end up in the world, to shoot our next big life event. She is amazing. -

Lauren Sent on 03/07/2018I hired Ashley as our wedding photographer because I fell in love with her dreamy, real film photos I saw on her website, and while maybe I did have high expectations already based off of her portfolio, I was STILL absolutely blown away with our wedding photos! Ashley pays attention and doesn’t miss an opportunity to make the experience special from start to finish. From mailing a sweet gift a month before our wedding to the proofs tied in ribbon and mailed in a handcrafted wooden keepsake box, she truly made me feel like I was her only client. Communication was always quick and I felt at ease leading up to the wedding. On the day of, timing and family members didn’t always cooperate as planned but she didn’t miss a beat, she and her husband were such a great team working together to drive us around our outdoor venue to get us the most magical photos (and a ton of them also!) I couldn’t recommend Ashley more for a wedding photographer, and would urge anyone with doubts about the cost of fine art wedding photography to remember, it is worth every penny! Every aspect of your wedding will fade away, but you’ll always have these photos to bring you to tears and back to that day! Thank you Ashley for giving us that gift, we are forever grateful!

I was living in England at the time of my engagement while also planning me and my now husband's wedding abroad. My husband and I got married in my hometown, Williamsburg, VA, and having Ashley capture our wedding was so special because the quality of her photos are clear and classic as well as unique and purposeful with every shot. Ashley is one of the best photographers out there to work with. She makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed while taking photos and she is SO joyful! It's hard not to catch that joyful spirit when taking photos. I highly recommend Ashley to anyone because she is professional while also relatable. She is contactable while also organized. My husband and I are both fine art majors, so we prioritized photography above all else. As a naturally shy person, the thought of trying to take romantic photos made me anxious! I cannot express enough how comfortable Ashley made me feel from our engagements photos to our wedding day, and all the moments in between. I was absolutely thrilled with our engagements photos and even more in love, if that’s even possible, with our wedding photos. Ashley’s photographs perfectly captured all of the beautiful emotions I was feeling. I am so grateful for Ashley’s talent and kindness throughout the whole experience. I have received dozens and dozens of compliments on the photos. And now that our wedding day has passed, I am so thankful that I will always have these special photos to reminisce on arguably the best day of my life.

When our prints arrived (in a hand-crafted wooden box), we were blown away. The photos were breathtaking, and we were astonished at the sheer quantity—it was an embarrassment of riches. Ashley is talented, efficient and incredible to work with. In short: she captured the romance and magic of our wedding day. And then some.

Alexandra Sent on 06/15/2016The best decision I made regarding my wedding (besides marrying my awesome hubby) was choosing Ashley as my photographer.
Where do I even begin-- everything about our experience with Ashley was incredible. She is organized, a joy to work with, put us at ease, and most importantly-- the photographs were better than anything I ever imagined.
I booked my vendors fairly early on, and one of my biggest requirements was that each vendor would be more organized than I was so I could relax on the day of my wedding. She was so responsive and reached out to me with a schedule of 15 minute increments for the wedding day so I would have an idea of what my day looked like. We did not do a first look, and she managed to have all 20 people in our wedding party and both of our (large) families photographed in time for them to enjoy the cocktail hour.
She put us at ease and as a result, the photographs look so natural and we had a BLAST. I picked a different engagement photographer in a moment of cheapness and while the photos turned out OK and fulfilled their purpose, I desperately wish I could go back in time and have Ashley take our engagement photos too. Unless you're a model, being photographed can be awkward sometimes, and everything at your wedding happens in a blur. But an experienced and skilled photographer like Ashley knows how to put her subjects at ease and to make the experience fun rather than awkward.
The best part about hiring Ashley though would be the BEAUTIFUL works of art that are our wedding photos. She uses real film. Not many wedding photographers do that. We also hired a second shooter, so there were plenty of digital images as well. After the wedding, I received over 1500 stunning images that perfectly encapsulated the memories of the best day of my life. I still tear up looking at them.
