Planning makes perfect

A wedding is a big production with so many pieces - Music is one of the most important. From the very beginning, back to our first call with Artistrings, planning our wedding music was a breeze. We appreciated their attention to detail, timing, and the planning that went into our ceremony. Artistrings provided worksheets/questionnaires that were not only helpful for choosing songs, but also making us think about the overall flow of the ceremony down to order of the processional and the vibe of the ceremony. We spent a lot of time on Youtube listening to the songs in quartet version and Carol was able to help guide and direct us to the best selections. And lastly, we requested an arrangement of John Summit's Where You Are and the Artistrings team did a fantastic job arranging our favorite song!

Absolutely incredible

We hired their quartet to perform at our ceremony and cocktail hour. They were absolutely fabulous and did an incredible job. They were very responsive and helped us plan even though we were not local. Answered every question we had and were incredibly timely and responsive. Even when I had problems on my end - they helped me work through it and figure it out. All the guests were impressed!

Airstrings brought such a beautiful, dynamic energy to our wedding day!

Airstrings was an absolute dream to work with and brought such a beautiful, dynamic energy to our wedding day. They played for both our ceremony and cocktail hour, setting the perfect tone from start to finish. We had a few special requests—Lord of the Rings music before the ceremony for me and some Taylor Swift for my wife—and they worked them in seamlessly.

One of the standout moments was our ceremony entrance. We chose Spring Recomposed, and Airstrings executed it flawlessly. They looped the opening section to build anticipation, then hit the dramatic crescendo right as my wife walked down the aisle—it was absolutely breathtaking.

During cocktail hour, they switched things up with a fun and lively setlist that gave the evening an amazing vibe. Their versatility, talent, and attention to detail made our wedding feel so special. We couldn't have asked for a better group to provide the soundtrack to our big day!

Classy, fun and amazing!

Artistrings was just perfect for our wedding and reception! We used a String Quartet for our wedding ceremony and for our cocktail hour. We heard amazing things from our guests and so wish we would have been able to sit and enjoy them more, but were kept busy by pictures and such on our wedding day. They are true artists with all the songs they are able to play and how they timed everything. They were also very friendly and responsive during the whole planning process and patient with us. I would highly recommend them to everyone if you want to make your wedding day classy and perfection. Thank you Artistrings!!

October Chicago Wedding!

I got married a week ago and I am still on cloud 9 about the way it turned out. We had a very small intimate (less than 20 people) wedding that we planned in 3 months. I wanted a strings duo to play during our ceremony and cocktail hour. I am so happy that I picked Airstrings. They made it so easy to pick out the songs I wanted to be played (they have a big database of songs that you can add to your own wedding planning profile with them) and they made it very simple to plan for the day. They showed up right on time and played some additional great contemporary songs at cocktail hour. It worked out beautifully and I would definitely hire them again for other events!

Above and beyond service!

The string quartet from Artistrings added another level of magic to our ceremony. Not only did they perform an original classical arrangement as well as a set of Bollywood arrangements they already had on hand, the cellist also improvised throughout our ceremony alongside the chanting of the priest. So many people commented on how much the music really pulled the whole ceremony together - it really made for a truly magical experience for our guests. Would happily go with Artistrings for any other event music needs!

Artistrings is truly the best

My partner grew up playing the violin, he played for 8+ years throughout gradeschool, including in a quartet, and classical still has a soft spot in his heart.

When we learned that Artistrings existed, we were overjoyed at the idea of having classical renditions of pop music play on our big day. Having a string quartet not only made us feel as though our day was appropriately formal and sophisticated, but having that quartet play the music we chose (heavy t-swift) we knew would be fun. That moment when you're like "wait...is that... omg yes it is!" is all we wanted. And we got it via Artistrings and more.

Everyone we interacted with made us feel so special and heard. They were as passionate about our day as we were. Every interaction felt like we were talking with friends, and yet still had the professionalism and attention to detail you can only dream of./

Planning with them was so easy, but so very thoughtful. The questionnaire was very detailed, and thankfully one of the few vendor forms that successfully autosaved as we worked on it over multiple days ha. Their attention to detail in confirming where and how things would be setup, and their familiarity with our venue and where we might need extra speakers was so great.

On the big day, we didn't even have to think about anything and it all went so perfectly. We couldn't have dreamed for a better experience for us, nor our guests. We got so many compliments! Overall definitely can't recommend them enough!

Perfect for ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner

We worked with Artistrings for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner and could not have been more impressed. We had the string quartet for the ceremony, and their rendition of Drops of Jupiter for my processional was beautiful. We loved our experience working with Artistrings! Unforgettable and Beautiful Live Music at Our Wedding

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Artistrings through Sarlas for our wedding in Chicago in May 2023. They were super responsive, professional and easy to work with. We booked a string trio and pianist for our ceremony and cocktail hour. Our ceremony location had a grand piano already in the space that could not be moved so we knew we wanted to incorporate it somehow. I fell in love with a gorgeous piece of classical music by Franz Liszt called Liebestraum (Love Dream) and knew this was the perfect song to walk down the aisle to meet my husband. I still remember the swell of emotion and excitement once I heard the Artistrings musicians playing this piece I had dreamed about for so long. From my layman perspective, it seemed like a complicated piece, but Artistrings played it with seamless skill and artistrty. It was one of my favorite parts of the day. They also played some of our contemporary choices beautifully (e.g., This Must Be The Place by Talking Heads). Artistrings was an absolute joy to work with and we would certainly recommend them for anyone searching for live musicians for their wedding day.

Absolutely Perfect

We hired Artistrings to perform for our guests as they entered the Grand Ballroom for our Wedding Ceremony, to perform during our Wedding Ceremony (as the Wedding Party was entering/exiting the ballroom), and to perform during our Cocktail Hour. We ended up hiring a DJ for our Reception, but we still wanted some sort of "Live Music" aspect, and we absolutely hit the jackpot. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The quality of sound was second to none, and the songs we chose to walk down the aisle to were performed beautifully. I would easily recommend this group to anyone who inquired about hiring a string quartet to play in part in some facet of their Wedding Day.

Romantic Processional of my dreams

Artistrings created a romantic ambiance during our wedding ceremony. I asked if they could play "Only One" by Yellowcard for my bridal march (which is not on their repertoire list), and they agreed without hesitation. I walked down the aisle to an amazing string quartet playing the end of that anthem. Although we missed cocktail hour to take photographs, our family and friends raved about the string quartet. Music has always been important to us and they were definitely worth the money.

Superior Strings!❤

We hired Artiststrings to play before and during my daughter's wedding ceremony and for the entire happy hour. A week later and I'm STILL hearing from family and friends on how they were blown AWAY by this group of world class professional and incredibly talented musicians!! I worked closely with both Chris and Carol on coming up with the song choices (their repertoire includes EVERYTHING from classic standards, Bach to the Beatles as well as contemporary hits of today. Personal choices of mine included rock hits by Rush, Led Zepplin and the Who...omg you HAVE to hear it to believe it, along with Game of Thrones theme song and more!) and they were EXTREMELY helpful with ideas and advice.

Movie magic

We knew we wanted a string quartet at our wedding because we fell in love over classical music. Specifically film scores. After talking with Carol and Chris, and reading the hundreds and hundreds of songs on the Artistrings repertoire, it was an easy decision. Over the next few months, we built a list of what we wanted to hear before the ceremony, during the ceremony, and at our cocktail hour. The Artistrings website is filled with samples, so you can hear for yourself! They even learned two new songs that mean a lot to us (Erica has wanted to walk down the aisle to the theme from "Father of the Bride" since she was 4 years old). Talk about happy tears. As we walked up the aisle as husband and wife, the theme from "Indiana Jones" played. It was incredible, and something our guests are still talking about. Wonderful!

I've worked with Artstrings on other events (I'm a Wedding Planner), but this event they shone their brightest. Chris and Carol worked with the groom and I to pull off a huge surprise for the bride in having them play. They were so intentional about every email they sent and even climbed through a few bushes on the wedding day to avoid being seen during photos.

The result? A very surprised and happy bride and insanely gorgeous ceremony and cocktail hour music.

Amazing string duo

Artistrings is AMAZING. Chris and Carol (the owners) were so great from the beginning. I loved discussing my vision with them! Carol and Matthew were the string duo for my ceremony and cocktail hour. Elegant and Fun Quartet

We had the pleasure of the Artistrings quartet providing the music at our small, intimate (55 guest) brunch wedding reception this fall. The music was fantastic and Carol was a great emcee. They easily moved between our outdoor and indoor space and were an elegant and fun addition to our reception. Not only is Artistrings extremely talented, but working with them was one of the most enjoyable aspects of the wedding planning process. Artistrings is possibly the greatest classical music group in the event industry. We were so excited to have them play our ceremony and cocktail hour. They played 30 minutes of prelude before our ceremony, the most beautiful songs during the ceremony to perfection, and then rocked out on the violins and other instruments playing party music during our cocktail hour but on classical instruments!! They made our ceremony feel so personal and we received many compliments on how the quartet set the perfect atmosphere for an elegant but fun garden wedding at the Cheney Mansion in Oak Park.

Also, I live in NYC, and so did not get to meet with Chris/Carol in person before our wedding, however I had no hesitations for even a second given how great they were on phone and email. They also provide a very helpful ceremony guide and procession "cheat sheet". So even if you're planning remotely, you can rest assured Artistrings will take care of you!

The Creative Director, Carol Kalvonjian who I worked directly with was extremely professional, attentive and warm. Artstrings / Sarlas Music was SUCH a joy to work with! So accommodating, flexible, responsive and talented! Chris and Carol made this whole process easy and enjoyable. Artistrings performed the wedding ceremony music for both of my daughters' weddings (December 2012 and November 2017). Absolutely wonderful. In addition to being a great musician, Carol has great insights and suggestions. Very flexible and they were able to get music that was not in their standard repertoire. Lots of tears of joy, with many guests wanting to know what was the great music that was played during the ceremonies. I highly recommend them - you will be delighted!

Our best advice is to use them! Seriously, you will not be disappointed. From the very first phone call it was clear that we had found exactly what we were looking for. We needed music for our ceremony and cocktail hour at our wedding. We wanted to be unique but classy, familiar, yet fun. We got WAY more than we bargained for with Artistrings, in the best possible way. We had some creative ideas about how we wanted our music to flow and Carol and Chris were trusted partners to not only us, helping with the final music selection, but with the other vendors to make our transitions flow smoothly. My wife and I enjoyed a 2hr set from a string trio provided by Artistrings during the dinner service at our wedding reception, and we loved every minute of it.

The organisation of the day was very simple, following an initial call from Chris at Sarlas Music (who calmly helped us understand our options for the day from the initial ideas we had in mind). Later we liaised with Chris’ wife Carol, who was also very friendly and professional in helping to arrange everything with the musicians we'd actually be hearing on the day.

Our reception was in the Gold Room at the Congress Plaza hotel, and we were delighted by what Jeri-Lou and her two colleagues were able to play for us. They're clearly all very talented musicians, and it was beautiful to hear their music in the sumptuous surrounding of this ballroom.

We'd sent in a specific request for a piece of music in advance, and Artistrings included this at a perfectly appropriate moment during dinner. The musicians were also flexible in adapting their set around a couple of announcements (such as the end of our receiving line and the cake cutting).

We would highly recommend the music of Artistrings to anyone planning a classy style of event, and the organisational skills of Sarlas Music as well.

Bare bones, money matters, but this is your big event so quality matters, too. Luckily, you've found yourself here where both blend as best they can.
Let me tell you what Chris & Carol did for us. We had their string quartet for the ceremony & cocktail hour & two bands for the reception during dinner & dancing. The music was all over the place, just as we are. We had classic classical, jazz & pop strings, suave vocals, American dance, & Greek Horos (χορος). My bride walked down the aisle to Dr. Who & there were video game tunes on strings during drinks! So, add that all up. 4 bands with a rich range from contemporary to even the obscure. Try piecing that together with multiple vendors & I guarantee you'll be setting yourself up for a heart attack.
Bottom line, it's not going to be cheap, but Chris & Carol are the one two punch knockout commanders you want in your corner with their talented musicians & singers. They sound great & look good doing it. They can read the mood of the room & know exactly what to play next. They'll work with you on your perfect soundtrack & execute it beautifully for you & your guests.
I see ahead on this review it asks how much I spent on them. I simply don't remember, though it was a lot. I'm only informing you all that i'm not putting any figures down to avoid any misunderstandings. I'll say this, though. If we ever need them again, we would in a heartbeat without hesitation.

The best wedding ceremony decision we made!! A string quartet to play our favorite songs was our splurge for the wedding. I wanted the classical sound meets modern song choice. Artistrings pulled it off beautifully. We had the string quartet play during the ceremony (prelude and post-lude music included) and through cocktail hour. Carol and Chris were a pleasure to work with. We started with a friendly phone conversation with Chris and then had a fun and productive in person meeting with Carol. They are pros! They seemed to understand the feeling and mood we wanted to set with our music and they were very helpful in going over song choices and timing for the ceremony and cocktail hour to create the event we wanted. They have a large repertoire list to choose from and are willing to personalize your event by learning new songs. They learned "Grow Old with You" to play during our Unity Tree Ceremony and it turned out amazing! The day of the wedding, the actual sound of the string quartet was flawless. As a Bride, I had dreamed of that moment walking down the aisle, with a string version of Crazy Love playing in the background. And because of Artistrings this moment played out just as I had imagined and I will forever be grateful to have that magical memory. Many of our guests told us that the string quartet during ceremony and cocktail hour really set a classy and vibrant atmosphere. They played many of our favorite songs that the guests enjoyed hearing as well. Watching back the video footage from the day, I am so incredibly happy we decided to go with Artistrings. The music fit so perfectly into the mood we wanted to set on our most special day. Thank You Carol and Chris!!

We used a string quartet for our July wedding and the music was beautiful. Carol was great to work with during the planning process and everything was great the day of. The quartet is a touch more than other businesses, but they also play "pop" music and that was important to us. While our guests were waiting for the ceremony to start, they were able to enjoy Guns N Roses, Queen and Eric Clapton. We also experienced their string quartet as guests of a wedding in July and were blown away by the versatility. I'd highly recommend them.

Artistrings provided the music for my son's wedding ceremony at the church and music for the dinner before the dance band began. They were wonderful! The bride wanted very traditional/classical music for the ceremony and pop music during dinner. They did both beautifully! I imagine finding a classical string quartet is not too difficult, but finding one of this caliber that also plays arrangements of pop music was an exceptional treasure! After their first pop song during dinner, a friend, who is very knowledgable about music, came to our table and predicted an amazing night of music. He was correct!

Artistrings was absolutely fantastic for providing that little extra touch that really made our wedding ceremony outstanding. We had a string quartet and all the musicians were prompt and professional and played beautifully. Their communication was great and I felt at ease with using them for our wedding. I had no issues doing the planning as Carol provided me with some sample song lists and we were able to pick out just the music we wanted. Their website even has some modern pop/rock music they play and the day of the wedding I asked if they could play some "fun" stuff after the ceremony was over, which they had no problem at all with doing. Would recommend to anyone looking for live ceremony music.

Artistrings was and simply is amazing. If you are looking for ceremony music for your wedding, or for cocktail hour as well, you need to go with this group. Carol and her husband Chris were more than accommodating and helpful. They did everything we asked/hoped for. My now husband and I will never be able to thank them enough. Our wedding was amazing because of them. I heard the music we selected and that they were playing and I instantly started to cry. Not because I was getting married, but because the music was EVERYTHING I wanted. It was perfect. It was amazing. I will forever and always be thankful for Carol and her amazing artist that day. Artistrings delivered BEAUTIFUL ceremony music for our August wedding. We had a pianist and a cellist, and quality of the sound in our venue was amazing. They even added a new song to their repertoire for us--my all time favorite, Jon Schmidt's Love Story meets Viva la Vida--for the recessional. I only wish we'd had a videographer to capture the sound!

We worked with Artistrings alongside Chris Sarlas Orchestra, and Chris was instrumental in assuring us that the ceremony would go without a hitch. It totally did. We would work with both Artistrings and Chris Sarlas Orchestra again in a second!

Carol was a pleasure to work with and really understood what we were going for with our wedding. The music was beautiful, and although it was all "Beatles," it was reverent, relevant and just fun! Everyone had a laugh when "When I'm 64 played!"

All of her musicians are professional, knowledgeable and I didn't have a thing to worry about. Please be sure to read your contracts concerning weather, space needs and set up. We were definitely aware of their needs and had it all arranged beforehand in case of rain etc. I highly recommend them !

We hired Artistrings for our wedding reception because we didn’t want traditional music played by a string quartet. We met with Carol a few weeks prior to go over the contemporary music selections consisting of Carly Rae Jepsen, Lady Gaga, and other songs in their repertoire. They even arranged the Super Mario Bros and Zelda themes for us. Carol was very professional and gave a great suggestion to play while everyone was enjoying their meal. This added an entertaining touch to an already fun day. They started right on time, and did an excellent job of performing. Our guests commented on how much they loved the music.

Chris provided both ceremony and reception music for my wedding, both were FANTASTIC! I had several calls after my wedding asking who was that amazing band. My guests danced until 1 a.m. and would have gone longer had the venue permitted. I would not hestiate to recommend Chris' for ceremony music, band and DJ services to any perspective wedding couple. They sounded beautifully and everyone loved their interpretation of "Bittersweet Sympony". All the songs were time perfectly and sounded so rich and vibrant. Artistrings String Quartet played for my daughter's Ceremony and Cocktail hour @ The Grand Staircase @ The Art Institute of Chicago! My daughter and son-in-law have very diverse musical tastes. The String Quartet played every single musical selection they requested! Classical, Broadway, Tango, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Disney and Classic Vintage music from favorite movies!!! They set up in the balcony for selections before the ceremony and for the ceremony, pure magic!
During the cocktail hour they set up on the landing of The Grand Staircase...again pure magic!!!
I highly recommend Artistrings!!! They are positively a "Must Have" for an unforgettable wedding!!!! My daughter and son-in-law were thrilled to hear their favorite music played!!! I was delighted as well!!! =)

As former musicians, Mike & I were looking for beautiful intonation and a broad range of musical styles. Artistrings delivered! The trio we contracted for (violin, pianist, cellist) was outstanding and did not overpower the intimate Founders Room at The Morton Arboretum. The trio played prelude, ceremony, and then music during our brunch. Exceptional!!

Beyond this, I reached out to Chris (my vendor contact) just one week before our wedding with a random request - for an Irish folk singer for our Friday evening caeli at Quigleys Pub in Naperville. He made a call and we had a musician less than a week later. I will never forget dancing to When Irish Eyes Are Smiling with my dad and Danny Boy with my groom. What a gift!!

As the bride, as I waited behind the trees before my walk down the isle, the sound of the strings filled me up with such beauty I cried before I walked down the isle! Not only do they know all the "traditional" songs for the processions, but they transposed a modern song, "Melt With You" , and knew of the other modern song we wanted to hear on strings, "Love Song" by the Cure, and one by the Beatles. We utilized both classical and modern that made the ceremony so personalized. I have always loved the sound of live strings, and I play cello myself, and they were absolutely perfect! I would absolutely highly recommend them.

I wish that I could have had artiststrings the entire night. Their musci was beautiful. Beyond words. It was better than I could have imagined. I would recommend them over and over and over again to everyone. They put such a special touch on my ceremony. I got so many compliments. And, they are extremely easy to work with. Icing on the cake.

Carol was very responsive in any emails or requests that we had. We knew right from the moment that we first met her that our ceremony music was safe in her hands. All we had to do was tell her what kind of music we were looking for, and she was quick to suggest some great music for us to have played at the ceremony. The ceremony turned out even more beautiful than we had hoped, and we owe a lot of it to Carol and Artistrings!

The music of Artistrings was one of the highlights of our wedding weekend! They provided beautiful music from start to finish. First, they played at our Jewish wedding and then at a luncheon that afternoon. Then, we had a larger wedding on Sunday where they played at the reception. They filled the cocktail hour with such sophistication and joy. Then, the strolling violins played during dinner; they even played on the dance floor while we had some featured dances such as father/daughter. What a joy to be surrounded by such beautiful music! When I spoke with guests after the wedding, many of them mentioned how classy the strolling violins were. Also, I must say how easy it was to work with Carol. She was so responsive to our various needs, and she was classy and professional. I would recommend Artistrings to anyone!

We were extremely pleased with the decision to hire Artistrings as our ceremony musicians and would most definitely recommend them. Prior to booking with Artistrings, I had heard and read many good things regarding the company. From the beginning, Carol and Chris Sarlas, of Artistrings, took time to discuss all details from music selections and instrument options to the look/feel of the ceremony. Throughout the entire planning process, Carol was flexible and offered great suggestions for the ceremony. For instance, we asked Carol if the string trio could play the song, "Stand By Me." She said that they hadn't in the past, but would look into it. Only a few minutes later, she reached out to let me know that they would write music to allow the string trio to play "Stand By Me." That was really great!!!
The string trio from Artistrings played 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, as well as throughout the entire ceremony. As the bride, I wasn't able to hear the string trio play until I walked down the aisle. However, what I did hear sounded beautiful, and I later had many guests tell me how lovely the string trio sounded. I really can't wait to receive the video from my ceremony, so I can hear all of the pieces that I worked with Carol to choose especially for the day!

We found Artistrings online at theknot.com, and called to inquire about having them play music for the ceremony and cocktail hour at my daughter's wedding. From the first phone call to the day of the wedding, they were one of our favorite vendors to work with. They were friendly and professional. They worked with the bride and groom to tailor the music around their preferences, and were open to play anything from Beatles to Classical. On the day of the wedding their music was one of the highlights. We would recommend Artistrings to anyone in need of their services, and I hope we have another occasion to use them in the future.

I don't think the wedding would have been as nice without Artiststrings. They should up on time and was professionally dressed. The music was wonderful! We had a string duo and a vocalist. The quality of the music was way more than I expected. I am truely grateful for their ability to be so flexible. There were last minute changes in the wedding and they were able to pull it off. Magical - that's the best way to describe my son and daughter-in-laws wedding. We wanted a combination of Elegance and fun - and we accomplished it!!! The one thing that was very important to us was the Music - during the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. We were so blessed to find Carol Kalvonjian and Artistrings. From the day I met Carol I knew we had made the right choice. She was a pleasure to work with. Extremely accomodating. Replied to our many questions and requests in a timely manner. And then the day of the wedding!! - she and her musicians EXCEEDED our expectations. The music was absolutely phenomenal. The guests are still talking about it. We absolutely loved Artistrings! The pre-wedding meetings we had with them were very helpful. They were open to our ideas and had many suggestions of their own. They were flexible about performing the ceremony outdoors (despite the weather being borderline) by bringing an alternative instrument to play which was much appreciated. The cost was perhaps a bit higher than other options, but we found them to be well worth the price for the individual attention they paid us and our wishes. The music for the ceremony and reception were just what we envisioned, and we received many compliments from our guests about them as well.

Lovely to work with, talented musicians enjoyed by all wedding guests

Carol and the team at Artistrings were incredibly lovely to work with, and really made my partner and I feel special as part of the process. The intake form is detailed and helped guide our thinking, and its very clear the Artistrings team took our requests and considerations into their design for the day. From the music before the ceremony to the processional, recessional, and our cocktail hour, everything was pitch perfect. We received MANY compliments from wedding guests who were delighted and impressed by the talent and range of the musicians. We'd have no problem recommending Artistrings again, nor using them again ourselves for special events!

I had an outdoor ceremony and wanted to have a string trio to provide the ceremony music. All vendors I had inquired with were pretty strict about having the musicians covered in sunlight. My ceremony location did not have any shade provided. Carol, the owner of the company was very flexible and easy saying we will figure it out - perhaps umbrellas. Since I was dead-set on having a string trio I appreciated their flexibility. I met with Carol personally to go over the playlist. She gave wonderful suggestions on songs. Carol is very prompt in responding to any questions. She makes you feel very special and important which all brides want! It was such a delight to walk down the aisle listening to the beautiful music. I highly recommend Airstrings!

From the beginning, Carol listened to all of my ideas for the ceremony music and was able to fulfill our requests. All of guests were absolutely impressed with the performance and how it complemented the overall tone of the event. The musicians were very professional and my husband and I were very pleased. Amazing musicians! We received many compliments on their music - we've even had someone plan to use them for their upcoming wedding after hearing them at ours. The strings and piano were a perfect trio for our wedding day. They played all the music I requested at our meeting. And had no problems traveling an hour or little more to our chapel location. They have some amazing talent and would recommend them in a minute.
