AGD Made Our Day Beautiful

We worked with Cassandra for our June 2022 wedding, and I am so glad we did! She was so kind and easy to work with. She made the whole process so easy. She listened to all our requests, and helped fill in the gaps with amazing suggestions when we weren’t totally sure what we wanted. She really brought our vision to life, and our day was more beautiful than I could have imagined!

I am a professional Chicagoland officiant who has worked with Cassandra on two weddings thus far: One at the Palmer House and the other at InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile. Both weddings were challenging in their own way... the each had large parties, fun personalities, different languages, different faiths, and in the case of the Palmer House wedding... a lot of alcohol. The absolute BEST! There is not much more we can say to sum it all up! My husband and I worked with Stephanie at Anthony Gowder Designs for our February 2019 wedding and could not be happier with our decision. From the moment we met Stephanie until the moment we walked into our venue on our wedding day, we knew she would do everything possible to make our visions come to life! She exceed ALL of our expectations. Stephanie is vibrant, professional, communicative, has strong attention to detail & truly wants the best for her clients—not only qualities that we admired, but also greatly appreciated while planning our wedding.

Our first meeting with Stephanie consisted of listening to our wedding ideas and narrowing down what exactly we were looking for when it came to floral arrangements, centerpieces, lighting, etc. Our second meeting was our “mock showing.” Stephanie had created a mockup of our wedding day and truly brought our visions to life. Our family was extremely important and involved throughout the wedding planning process and Stephanie was more than accommodating and understanding with all of our requests. She worked with our budget, gave recommendations & truly had our best interest in mind.

My husband and I worked with Cassandra from Anthony Gowder for our month of wedding coordination services. She was an INVALUABLE ASSET to our wedding planning experience. We joked afterward that we don't know how anyone could've gotten married without a Cassandra in their lives. She was available to answer any questions, timely in all of her responses, professional in her work with all of our other vendors, and so much fun to work with. She takes great pride in making the wedding day perfect for each of her couples. She anticipated needs that we hadn't even though of. Most importantly, her presence on the wedding day itself allowed our families to relax and enjoy every moment as opposed to answering questions from guests and vendors. Hiring a wedding coordinator, and making sure that he/she comes highly recommended, is our greatest advice to newly engaged couples. We could not recommend Cassandra and her team more.

Oh my gosh my bridal bouquet was the most beautiful I have seen! Stephanie at Anthony Gowder listened to all of my wishes, went through photos with me, and showed me samples of my centerpieces. Everything was set beautifully by her staff. I would definitely order from them again!

Gowder is absolutely wonderful, and if I ever have to order floral arrangements for any big event again, they will be the very first people I call. My mom and I met with a long list of florists before we discovered Gowder, and we left each florist meeting confused and in sticker shock. Our meeting with Stephanie at Gowder was a completely different story – we had found our perfect florist.

Stephanie asked great questions and worked hard to understand our taste, our goals, and our budget. My mom and I know very little about flowers, so we greatly appreciated Stephanie’s guidance. From that very first meeting, my mom and I felt completely confident that Stephanie understood what we were looking for and that she would execute that vision flawlessly.

I think the biggest compliment that I can pay to Stephanie and Gowder is that in the days leading up to the wedding, when we were stressing over what we needed to remember to do with/for each vendor, floral wasn’t even on my mind. I trusted Stephanie completely to just make the arrangements beautiful, and she did. Thank you so much!!

Anthony Gowder Designs was amazing. Not only was our decor to die for but Stephanie Gowder, our day of coordinator was our lifesaver. We got married on June 20th, 2015 at the W Lakeshore. Our ceremony was in the great rooms, which is another word for conference room :) Stephanie and her team completely transformed that room. There were candles and flowers and draping. The room looked incredible and really set a romantic tone! Which was quite an amazing feat considering the way that room looked without any of that! Our reception room has an amazing view of the city and lake. To enhance that Stephanie suggested using tall floating candles and some flower satellites around them. It was exactly what we were looking for, simple and won't take away from the view. We were so pleasantly surprised when we walked into the reception and it was even more gorgeous than we thought! Besides decor, Anthony Gowder does day of coordination services as well, we knew we definitely wanted this from the beginning. It was so nice to have everything be a one stop shop! Stephanie was our lifesaver from the day we hired her all the way through the wedding day. She contacted all my vendors, set up times for everything, and made an amazing day of timeline. I didn't have to lift a finger. The day of our wedding went so smooth and I know it was because of Stephanie. Our whole family and bridal party loved her, she was so sweet and incredibly organized! We really found a fantastic company when we found Anthony Gowder Designs. If you want quality and professionalism all the way, then you should definitely hire them!!

I had a very positive experience working with Cassandra Vack from Anthony Gowder. First of all, she was respectful of my budget. Sometimes there are vendors who don’t want to work with you if you don’t spend a certain amount, or some who only treat you nice if you are spending a lot, but Cassandra is NOT like that. I felt valued as a client from day one, and she never proposed anything that was too expensive for me.

Cassandra was also really flexible and responsive. I revised my order at least five times, and each time she was patient and answered emails within 24 hours. On the day of the wedding, the flowers looked fresh and beautiful. The bridesmaid bouquets complimented the girls’ dresses really well and helped make our ceremony look really elegant and romantic.

If you look at their pictures, Anthony Gowder usually does more modern-looking designs, but my wedding was more rustic looking and they worked to fit my look. I think they do just as well with simple, rustic weddings as they do with ritzy hotel ones.

The last thing I appreciated was that they did a free floral showing where they show you samples of how your flowers will look on your wedding day. Some florists make you pay for a showing so make sure you ask about that, because Anthony Gowder doesn’t! Overall, going with Anthony Gowder was one of the best decisions I made because they made me feel like I didn’t have to worry about the decorations on the day of my wedding!

Anthony Gowder Designs is fabulous to work with! Being an event planner, I have used them for years for our corporate events and they have always done an amazing job within the budgets we have given them. So when it was time to plan my wedding I knew that I would be getting top quality work and wouldn't have to worry about a thing going with Anthony Gowder Designs. They did not disappoint!

Stephanie Gowder was, as always, fabulous to work with. We met with her for an initial meeting to discuss our vision, color scheme, likes, dislikes, etc. Then a couple months before the wedding we had a second meeting where Stephanie had examples of the actual arrangements to show us. At this time we were able to make changes to make sure it was what we wanted. It was super helpful to actually see the arrangements in person as I do not know a lot about flowers.

The day of the wedding Stephanie's team took care of everything. Our bouquets were gorgeous and showed up right on time as we were taking photos early in the day. The arrangements and candle lit aisle they did for our ceremony were breathtaking and the reception room looked amazing! About a month before our wedding, I also asked Stephanie to do the floral decorations for our cake. I sent Stephanie a few photos of cakes I liked and left the rest up to her. When we walked into our reception I was blown away by how beautiful our cake was!

When I talked to Stephanie after my wedding to thank her, she mentioned how pleased she was that I was so happy with everything because apparently there had been heavy rains in California which made our purple flowers hard to get so at the last minute they had to make some substitutions on the types of flowers in the arrangements. I didn't even notice! All I noticed was how beautiful everything was!

I cannot say enough about my great experience with Anthony Gowder and would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a wedding or event florist.

Cassandra was amazing to work with. She listened to my vision and what I wanted. She gave her professional opinion to make my flowers even better. The best part about Anthony Gowder besides Cassandra is that they set up a flower viewing so you can see your centerpieces and change or keep whatever you want before you're wedding so you know exactly what you're getting and what they look like. Cassandra responded to my emails quickly and answered any questions I had. Cassandra showed passion and care when planning my flowers. She treated my family and I like we were individuals and not just another person having a wedding. We received a lot of compliments on the flowers and how beautiful they were. The flowers were fresh, made with every detail in place and smelled amazing. I'm so thankful to Cassandra and Anthony Gowder and will recommend them to anyone looking for a florist.

Gorgeous flowers and centerpieces were one of the top priorities I had when planning decor for my wedding. Anthony Gowder Designs exceeded my expectations. We received so many compliments from guests on the centerpieces and bouquets. I worked with Cassandra, who was professional, friendly, and accessible throughout the entire process. She worked with me to make my vision a reality. It was not inexpensive, but the end product was worth every penny spent. Cassandra was able to edit the proposal several times to come up with something in my price range that still met all of my requirements.

I am so thrilled to have worked with Cassandra and Stephanie from Anthony Gowder Designs for our wedding. Best of the Best....Anthony Gowder Designs handled the floral and lighting for my daughter's wedding. Stephanie was amazing! Wow. Stunning. Super Pretty. Gorgeous. Elegant. There are not enough adjectives to describe just how gorgeous Anthony Gowder Designs made our wedding. Anthony Gowder Designs took our vision (concepts, thoughts, ideas) and brought it to life. Our ceremony arch was an amazing backdrop that transitioned beautifully behind our sweetheart table, our centerpieces (high, medium and low) were beautiful, our flowers were beyond stunning, and Anthony and Stephanie's warmth and personality put us at ease. Planning a large wedding for 400+ guests was quite an undertaking but seeing everything come together made it well worth it. Future advice - do not skimp costs when it comes to your flowers, lighting and decor. Anthony Gowder Designs is worth every penny and they will add those personal touches that will be memorable. BONUS: Stephanie Gowder saw pictures of my wedding dress and had an idea to incorporate a gorgeous gunmetal grey runner down the aisle lined with floating candles to highlight my beaded gunmetal sash on my wedding dress. My pictures were amazing and my guests were speechless. BEST FLORAL VENDOR EVER.

Absolutely fantastic service! Suzanne was our wedding day coordinator and she did an amazing job on our wedding day. For our package, we wanted high & low centerpieces as well as ceremony decor. I was a bit taken away when I saw Suzanne show up for our wedding day. She arrived quite early to deliver our personal flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres, etc). I knew she was working with us, but she did so until the end of our wedding day.

On the side note, the personal flowers were so amazing. My bouquet was so large and expected, the bridesmaids bouquets turned out beautiful. What was surprising were the pieces for the men. Usuallyyyy by the end of the night, those things are so dead, wilted, and dying, but not ours at all. They They were still very perky, beautiful, stayed intact. Suzanne even gave us a couple extra just in case, but we didn't have to use them at all! Also, the cuffs for the women were beautiful. They put it on some type of strap thats very comfortable to wear (and take off during breaks) and I couldnt have been happier the way that they turned out.

The ceremony and reception was beautiful and well planned! For our ceremony, the entire place was so beautiful and they paid close attention to details. We've been to wedddings where the flowers are blocking the bride and groom, but none of that happened. They moved the taller flowers to the stage and they're still captured in our photos and look wonderful. For dinner, the flip was quite fast. Again, they did an amazing job. Our cocktail tables looked amazing. Our dinner tables were even better.

Overall, Suzanne and her team did an amazing job for our wedding. Even when our bridal party showed up for the evening, they couldn't believe what a transformation it was from the rehearsal the day before. I absolutely absolutely recommend!

I was referred to Anthony Gowder by a family friend. We worked with Greta who did an amazing job on my wedding. Our flowers were exactly what I wanted. The staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and very receptive. I went to 4 florists in total. They were not the cheapest florists but by far they were the best quality. I am very glad I went with them. I had an image of what I wanted and I brought it to them. They worked with me and delivered what I wanted. They are willing to work with your budget and are such a wonderful group of people. They are worth every penny!

MAGNIFICENT!!! Anthony Gowder Designs is the one to choose if your looking for a florist for your wedding or any event for that matter. Call them right now! We had worked with Suzanne Read, and she was the best. She had a very good understanding of what we wanted for our wedding and was extremely mindful and helpful in keeping us within our budget. My bouquet and all of the flowers for the bridal party were delivered on time and labeled appropriately. Our reception simply looked magical and heavenly with all the flower arrangements and candles. All of our guests loved the entire setting and the mood the arrangements created in the room. I highly recommend Anthony Gowder to anyone and especially to a bride-to-be. We worked with Greta Thomas at Anthony Gowder Designs and she was really great! She was really careful to understand the style I was going for and wanted me to have as much or as little say in the flowers as I was comfortable with.

I know nothing about flowers, and frankly didnt care much about what or if we even had them, but once they arrived I absolutely loved them. I gave Greta very little direction - saying the dresses were lime green and I just wanted bright fun bouquets. She was careful to create as many flowers as she could while staying within my budget.

I was ecstatic at the result - they were gorgeous! Were I to ever need flowers for another event, I'd definitely go back here.

Greta and Anthony were fantastic to work with! Greta both coordinated our wedding and did the beautiful flowers. She took our ideas and worked within our budget to create stunning floral arrangements that felt very much our style. She even incorporated blue glass bottles and mason jars that my mother had been collecting.

As a coordinator, she made everything sooooo much easier for us. I am not sure what we would have done without her! She created a very detailed timeline and worked with all of the vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page. On the night of the wedding, she made sure everything ran smoothly so that we could just enjoy ourselves. Thanks Greta!

We were so pleased we selected Anthony Gowder for our June wedding. They perfectly executed our vision of of romance with lots of blush pink peonies, white roses, and white hydrangea. They also brought the "old Chicago" feel to our venue that we were looking for with beautiful silver candleabras and tall vases of flower. When I saw the aisle treatment, it took my breath away. They also did a phenomenal job on the cake table, which I showed them for an inspiration from Pinterest and they executed perfectly. Very happy bride here!

Greta at Anthony Gowder Designs was a dream to work with! Our florals and decor were beautiful on our wedding day and everything was just as I envisioned it would look.

At first, I was a little intimidated by Anthony Gowder's portfolio/website... I thought it looked a little out of our budget, but Greta did a wonderful job listening and taking our budget concerns into consideration throughout the consultation process.

Ofcourse, our decor budget expanded as the planning process continued, but I believe that everything was well worth the extra cost in the end. The flowers were unbelievable - my bouquet not only lasted throughout the wedding, they held up throughout the next 5 days after the wedding was over!

There was only one minor issue I had with Anthony Gowder, but Greta handled the situation wonderfully. We had signed the contract with Anthony Gowder in October 2011. A few months later, I received a promotional postcard from Anthony Gowder that read "Bring this card in to your initial consultation and receive 10% off wedding florals". Being a marketing professional, I was extremely disappointed that I was on this promotional mailing list... clearly they forgot to take out their current clients from the list before they sent out the promotion. After sending an email to Greta, she still gave us 10% off our florals, which was very generous and saved us quite a bit of money.

I highly suggest Anthony Gowder to any bride of any budget.

Immediately decided to go with AGD after speaking with Cassandra and hearing both the professionalism and flexibility in her tone -- AGD will not try to rip you off and they are willing to work with in any budget. Cassandra was willing to talk/meet whenever worked for us as we were planning from out of town, and she really helped to turn small ideas into a beautiful vision. The entire experience -- from the initial consultation, to the constant revision of the proposal and the actual preview -- was easy and great and I would highly recommend going with AGD. Furthermore, after meeting with Cassandra we found out that she also offers day of coordination packages and we decided to hire her for our day of coordination -- it was incredibly helpful to have someone who already knew one of our vendors so well, and she's so well connected in the city that she was able to work seamlessly with the rest of our vendors.

It was really a pleasure to work with Anthony Gowder Designs. They were very professional and responsive. They were more than happy to meet with us several times and prepared samples for us to look at. They were more than happy (read: did not seem at all annoyed) when we kept on trying to bring down the budget. In the end they created a wonderful/classy look for our wedding while still keeping everything in budget. We worked with Suzanne who was very organized and must have prepared 7 or 8 draft proposals/contracts for us and was attentive to all the details I asked for. Of note we planned the wedding from out of town and they were flexible with our time constraints. On the day of I did not have to worry about any of the logistics. Suzanne worked with my event space coordinator and worked everything out between the two of them. The thing I am most happy about is that they were always very nice/professional to my mom as she would occasionally call them with questions/requests even though she wasn't the point of contact. I would definitely recommend Anthony Gowder.

Greta and Anthony did a fantastic job on my wedding flowers. I couldn't have been more pleased with the quality and design. I'd highly recommend them to anyone!

I truly can't say enough about Anthony Gowder, specifically our designer Greta! She worked with me tirelessly to create the perfect floral arrangments for our wedding, even when it took several different stagings to figure out what I wanted! Greta was also very conscious about our budget, and did her absolute best to help us stay at a price point that was comfortable. She was pleasant, professional, and made the process very fun. I actually miss our frequent communication now that the wedding is over! Greta was a joy to work with, and we are still receiving compliments about our flowers, 3 months after the wedding! Thanks Anthony Gowder and Greta!

My husband and I are so glad we chose Anthony Gowder Designs for our wedding on November 4. Cassandra was a joy to work with, and we appreciated the attention to detail evident in each step of the floral design process offered by Anthony Gowder. At our in-person meeting with Cassandra, she showed us several images from other weddings they had done at our venue, and she reviewed the inspiration images we brought with us. From there, Cassandra showed us more images related to what we had in mind, and helped us to create a vision for our day. She was incredibly helpful in picking out the flowers that best suited our color scheme and budget, and we loved that Anthony Gowder allowed for changes up until a week or two prior to our wedding. Our favorite part of the process was the floral preview, where we were able to see a mock set-up of our table arrangements. The team at Anthony Gowder actually creates samples of your centerpieces so you are able to see and approve these before your big day. This was huge for us as it turns out we were not a fan of one of the arrangements we had designed, and we were able to make and see changes right there!
The day of, everything was delivered and set up on time and as expected. We receieved countless compliments on our bouquets, and the table arrangments and ceremon decor were exacly what we had imaged and seen at our preview. If you're looking for a florist that offers flexibility, the ability to preview your arrangements, and dependendibility, then I strongly recommend Anthony Gowder Designs.

They were very pricey, but we absolutely loved our flowers with AG. We worked with Greta, who is very sweet and was very accommodating of anything we wanted to do. Everything showed up looking stunning the day of the wedding, and our guests were completely blown away by both our ceremony and reception decor.

We worked with Cassandra and she is fabulous! They executed everything flawlessly from set up to room flip and take down. I loved my bridal bouquet and the bridesmaid bouquets! They are pricey but the flowers look great!

I was a bit disappointed with the center pieces for the guest tables as we did a "mock" set up and the pieces looked much bigger because all of the flowers were fully opened and I believe more flowers. The center pieces had tighter flowers (not fully bloomed) but they were still beautiful. Our original proposal said light pink hydrangeas in the center pieces but they were definitely bright pink, so that was a bit different. We had selected specific candle holders and candles and had to settle for ones that we weren't in love with but worked as a sub because they didn't have enough of the correct ones for the amount of tables that we had, which was 17.

Overall a good experience and again Cassandra was fabulous! She worked with our budget as best as possible! They are a pricey vendor but their execution was on point.

Visit Anthony Gowder Deesigns' show room and you will be in awe of their designs. Although they are pretty pricey, their work is simply stunning. When signing on with AGD, we negotiated our contract with Greta who was great to work with. She helped us in coming up with packages that fit into our budget. She was flexible and willing to negotiate with us so we could afford to work with them. Greta was a sweetheart and assured me the entire time that we'd somehow achieve my vision while staying in our price range. After signing the contract and putting our deposit down, Greta left AGD and we then starting working with Suzanne. This is where things went south. When we wanted to add some arrangements, Suzanne would not honor the same pricing for the arrangements that Greta had quoted us. We were going to be stuck with paying "X" amount of dollars for the arrangements contracted with Greta, and then a LOT more for the exact same additional arrangements added to the contract by Suzanne. When Suzanne would revise our contract to include some additions, she would leave out items that were previously on the contract. For example, Greta provided us columns with up lighting for "X" amount of dollars. Then Suzanne would come back with a new contract that said only the columns should have been that price, not the columns with lighting. It was a headache because we had a signed contract, and Suzanne was acting as if they would not honor the contract under Greta's terms. We had put a 50% deposit down so I started to feel stuck. Just as it was about to get ugly, Greta ended up back at AGD. What a relief!! From that point on, working wit AGD was smooth sailing again. When the day of the wedding came, AGD was organized and professional with the set up and the florals were gorgeous. They did forget some uplighting but everything else was fabulous. My recommendation is based on the positive experience with Greta overshadowing the sketchy experience with Suzanne.

We used Anthony Gowder Designs for our wedding draping design. They were recommended to us by our venue for being the best (although also on the expensive end). Because we decided to add draping very late in the game, multiple other vendors recommended by our day of coordinator were already booked - thus we ended up going with Anthony Gowder. However, we initially felt comfortable with this based on Yelp reviews and the glowing praise from our venue.

Our biggest complaint was the brief communication with the vendor. Everything was through email and I never saw samples of the fabrics or design of draping. When I reached out to discuss the exact design of the draping, I was told it would be worked out with our venue (I had actually discussed my thoughts with the venue coordinator - so I thought we would all be on the same page). When we arrived for the rehearsal, I was disappointed that the draping of the altar was not what I had pictured (it was one simple drape instead of a drape with a tented drape opening). I was told by our venue that it was too late to make any changes. Admittedly, I was too busy to actually reach out to Anthony Gowder at that point so I could not give them the chance to fix things. However, I was disappointed that my initial efforts to discuss the design more thoroughly were dismissed.

The other areas of draping were beautiful. I hope that with proper communication everything would have been perfect!

Overall, I probably wouldn?t recommend Anthony Gowder. They were a recommended vendor through the Grand Piazza, and I had a very positive experience meeting with them and during the showing. The wedding day was a different story. For the high price we paid for the flowers, we did not get what we paid for.

1) Centerpieces
a) They had even less flowers in these arrangements than the showing, after they ended up charging me $10 MORE per centerpiece to add more flowers to make them "tighter and modern" as in my contract. I feel like the bait and switch was pulled here as these did not look tightly mounded or modern to me as promised (again with the $10 extra for this specification). Plus, we took out the seeded eucalyptus in our initial showing because I did not want greenery in my arrangements. For some reason it some type of green leaves replaced the extra flowers. I was very disappointed when I saw those leaves. When I complained about these to at least get my $10 back for not being as promised and having less flowers, I was told that ?the recipe used for your wedding and there were not less flowers used.? I had 5 other people at my showing that say otherwise and agree with me and my husband.

2) Many of the flowers were already wilting/dying at our 3:00 mass
a) The bouquets were beautiful, but you can see in all these pictures that they are dying and wilting
b) My grandmothers wrist corsage fell apart during church.
c) All of the boutonnieres completely fell apart. Our pictures look terrible with the flowers. I couldn?t not get many of our photos enlarged due to the wilted flowers

When I complained, I was told that ?-Regarding the bouquets and boutonnieres, the handling of the bouquets and the temperature in which they are handled effect the flowers. Since they are a natural, organic material, these things effect them. If the bouquets are set down on a hard surface, some bruising may result.?
I can tell you that these bouquets (especially mine), was not set on a hard surface. The only place it was set was on my lap. I was so embarrassed that my flowers had died. I have never seen such a thing at a wedding, even friends that have paid half the price for flower.

We went over our budget for flowers because we felt like we were going to get such high quality flowers, but this was definitely not the case. Let me know if you would like to see any of the photos of the flowers, I?d be happy to pass them along.
