    it was truly a dream

Anderson House hosted my wedding on New Years Eve and I must say it was the most mind-blowing experience I could have imagined.

Glenn was so accommodating and always so happy to help us. The day of the wedding, he had a way of making you feel like you were the only bride in the world. The venue itself is incredibly photogenic & historical. It felt as though we were welcomed in someone's home. It truly is a magnificent experience and I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone to host your wedding at this venue.

Thank you Glenn and the team at Anderson House. You made our dreams come true, in such a special and memorable way.

    Gorgeous Micro Wedding Venue

We used this venue for our micro wedding ceremony and could not have been happier. The venue is absolutely gorgeous- our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful this location is. While we didn’t work much with the venue since our wedding planner took care of things, our interactions with Glenn the event coordinator were great. We utilized the ballroom for our ceremony, atrium for champagne toast, upstairs for couple photos, and outdoor space for family photos. Highly recommend!

The Anderson House was the absolute perfect place for us to have our wedding. The House has a courtyard area, which was perfect for an outdoor ceremony. We hosted the cocktail hour in the gallery upstairs, which has beautiful tapestries and other works of art. During the cocktail hour, the House provided two docents (at a very reasonable cost) to answer guests questions about the house and art. We then held the reception in the ballroom, which is absolutely breathtaking.

Glenn, who is in charge of the venue's events, was extremely helpful throughout the planning process. He was happy to accommodate our personal visits and walkthroughs with our vendors. At the walkthroughs he provided ideas of set-ups/lay outs/space usage/etc. that he had seen in previous events, which really helped us visualize our wedding and make decisions.

Overall it was a wonderful place to get married and I would not change a thing!

We had originally planned on getting married at the St. Regis but after a series of unexpected (& ugly) renovations, a disastrous tasting, etc. we realized that it was no longer the place for us. This was 2 MONTHS before our wedding date so my God, Anderson House was a complete Godsend in our time of need. The house, also a museum, is GORGEOUS (nicer than the st. Regis), rich with history & beautifully maintained. Glenn, who runs the place, is THE NICEST guy & though not always easily accessible, was responsive, clear & concise about venue use, rules, and getting us all the necessary information we needed to get the ball rolling quickly. If you are looking for a beautiful place that will be there for years to come, look no further.
A few things to consider. It is lovely to have the dinner indoors but it would definitely be for a smaller party as it's tight. We had 125 people w/ dinner outdoors and then shifted the party inside.
    1. You can only have one set of doors open to the garden at night & since you can't have amplified music outside b/c of the neighbors, our dj had to blast the music inside & it was really only heard by the guests seated closest to the doors. People seated to the far side of the garden & even our table, didn't really hear the music. Something to consider.
    2. It was a gorgeous night out & as such, it's hard to get everyone to stay indoors for the dancing & dessert aspect of the party. Even with 125 guests, it did at times feel a little empty indoors since many were enjoying the lovely weather & garden. Another thing to be mindful of if you really want a dance party.
    3. You can only have the venue from 5 - 11 (sharp!) - this time frame wasn't so bad in the end. We paid for an extra hour of set up & access for photos & it was worth is. To be honest, I wish we'd taken more time for photos!
    4. The Fairfax next door is super convenient for your guests to stay at. Urbana down the street was our brunch venue & also fantasti

Terrible Communication and Unprofessional Venue Coordinator

Anderson House was our first choice in terms of venue aesthetic, but we had an awful experience working with the venue coordinator to even book our wedding date. We were very quick to follow up with our preferred wedding days, but the response time would take 1-2 weeks. When we did get a response, it was always to tell us that the days we wanted were booked with complete disregard for our time. We also had questions about multi-cultural ceremonies at the venue, but we received partial and very insensitive answers. Throughout the 2 months of back and forth, we would try to expedite communication by calling the venue but the line always went to voicemail.

Our advice to other wedding couples looking to get married here - it's a beautiful venue but the tradeoff is working with a venue coordinator that is not going to respect your time. To us, this didn't seem like the best way to start the wedding process. A wedding day should be a special and exciting day, but if the venue coordinator doesn't treat it as such, we don't recommend pursuing!

The Anderson House is a beautiful venue for an elegant wedding. It was exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for something different and you are having a small wedding (65 people) then you should really consider the Anderson House. However, working with the event manager for the venue was beyond difficult. The only time he seemed to respond to me was when there was bad news. I am lucky that I had a great wedding coordinator to take over communicating with him closer to the wedding because I could not deal with him anymore. It took weeks for the venue to respond to my emails. I had looked at many other museums and the rental fee is close to other similar venues. The staff for the day of the wedding were very helpful and educated my guests about the museum. My wedding day was beautiful and the Anderson House is certainly a special venue but you need a lot of patience to deal with the event coordinator.
