Choosing Amy Sims as our wedding photographer is a decision we will never stop being grateful for.
We got married this past February at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg — a place that holds so much meaning for us as a couple. Finding a photographer who could capture us in an environment we loved so deeply, someone who would notice and preserve all the small details around us that day, mattered more to us than anything. Amy did exactly that, and then some.
She took the time to understand us as a couple and learn what we wanted to feel when we looked back at our photos. It shows in every single image. She had this incredible ability to catch candid moments — the funny, unscripted, unforgettable ones that had our guests in tears of laughter — and preserve them so perfectly that when people saw the photos, their reaction was genuinely "how did she even get that shot?" She also gave confident direction during portraits so we never felt awkward or lost in front of the camera. That balance of the two made us feel natural and relaxed.
Even before the wedding, Amy always showed up. Our engagement shoot was freezing and incredibly windy, and without hesitation she accommodated a last minute location change indoors — and still delivered stunning photos. On the wedding day itself, Amy was a calm, professional anchor through all the moving pieces and emotions. We never once felt stressed because we simply trusted her completely.
When we look at our photos now, we can relive the exact feeling we had in each moment. We cannot recommend and thank Amy enough! -

We’re so glad we chose Amy as our wedding photographer in 2023! Beyond just taking incredible photos, she brought a sense of organization to what felt like a chaotic day for me (even though everything went smoothly thanks to all of our vendors—it was just a crazy day!). She always seemed to know exactly where to be at the right moment and kept everything moving smoothly.
Before the wedding, she also shot our engagement photos and made us feel much more comfortable in front of the camera. She was incredibly accommodating and perceptive, which made the whole experience feel natural and easy.
On our wedding day, despite the downpour, she found the perfect opportunity when the rain stopped to whisk us outside for some gorgeous shots around our venue—something I really appreciated. She also did an amazing job wrangling family members for group shots and stayed patient throughout it all. And, to top it off, when my mom had trouble zipping up my dress, Amy was there to help—something I wasn’t expecting but was so grateful for!
What stood out to me the most was how, throughout the wedding, I barely even noticed where she was—yet she was always in the perfect spot to capture the moment. The candid shots she took are some of my favorites, and a huge reason why I chose her in the first place. Looking back at the photos, I can’t help but smile every time.
Amy truly cares about her craft, and it shows in every photo. She’s a true professional, and we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer! -

Amy's invaluable talent shone through not only in her breathtaking photographs of our wedding, but in her steadfast leadership throughout the day. Our wedding day in Central Park was an absolute dream, thanks to our amazing photographer Amy! We couldn't have imagined our day without her. She was extremely professional, very organized, and most importantly brought a really positive energy. She was so easy to work with from the interview to the wedding day itself, which was really important to us because we were organizing the wedding from Canada. Amy is so experienced and really put us at ease. She was great at getting everyone together for photographs and getting the kids to smile by saying something silly. All of our guests loved her. She also anticipated our needs and just knew the perfect time for a snack or a break. Amy has a great eye for the most beautiful pictures. We knew this from her portfolio but it's really cool to see this in action. She would catch the smallest details, like a water bottle, or a brightly coloured jacket, or people in the background. She scouted the most beautiful locations for us and it was really cool watching her frame the perfect shots. And when we got the pictures back, they really were perfect! Amy's greatest talent is capturing amazing candid moments and people's unique personalities. And because she puts people so at ease, she gets the best photos out of them, even if you're a little camera shy. Amy made our day into something truly extraordinary, and we couldn't be happier with the memories she captured for us! -

Amy is just as skilled with composing couple portraits as she is with capturing big group shots as well as candid, intimate moments. Beyond that, though, she is exceptionally compassionate. When she could tell I was stressed when getting ready and running late, she promised me she had nowhere else to be and to not worry. When wrangling big groups of aunts and uncles, she was deftly able to have them shift in place, fix a tie, button a jacket, tuck their hair back, and more, without wasting time. And her communication is just as professional and prompt in the runup as it is on the day itself. We never had any doubts about what Amy would be providing, who would be coming with her, or when she'd be arriving, because she made it extremely clear from the get-go. We loved, loved, loved working with her, and we recommend her to everyone we know. Please, book her! -

Personal and Professional
We had the most amazing experience with Amy Sims as our photographer. She was so fun to work with and very personable. Neither one of us is comfortable in front of a camera and she put us immediately at ease. Her photos are beautifully composed without looking staged or corny like so many other wedding photos I’ve seen. The photos she took of our wedding really captured the emotion and the magic of the day. Thanks to Amy, we have these precious moments with our family and friends documented forever. From start to finish she was such a pleasure to work with. Amy was very responsive and organized. She worked with us to create a timeline for our big day that made sure we got all of the group shots we wanted while still allowing for plenty of spontaneous photos throughout our event. We highly recommend Amy Sims as a wedding photographer for anyone who wants beautiful, personal and unique photos. -

We are so grateful to have had Amy as our wedding photographer. Not only did she take amazing photos, but she also brought such a joyful and supportive energy to the day, and made what could have been stressful moments very effortless and fun. Every single person who was in our portraits complimented the way she conducted the shoot (one of our friends who is a photographer said she was the most intentional photographer she’s ever seen!) Amy made us, and everyone at our wedding, feel so comfortable in front of the camera, and helped us feel at ease trying different poses and styles that would best reflect our personalities and vibes as a couple.
We also received many candid photos that friends took that had Amy smiling in the background - we feel so lucky that we had a photographer who had as much fun on our wedding day as we did! Amy is truly one of a kind and we cannot recommend her enough. -

I was sold! Because my husband and I have a huge goofy loud crazy weird rowdy family that love each other and we knew we needed someone who could capture that - all expectations exceeded!! once i looked at her gallery she truly captures the pure moments between family and friends and most importantly between the couple! My husband point blank hates pictures hates being the center of attention. during the egagement shoot (i included some photos) she made him comfortable and relaxed which if you knew my guy not easy under a camera! So i knew we were set for the big day. She calmed me during stressful moments and her second photographer karen had everything incase of an emergency which i thought was incredible and unexpected! If she could catch my husband smiling then let me tell you she is AMAZING ; i can not rate her work or her energy higher she was honestly the best and her work speaks to that!
My sister and my mom who have an eye for photography found her and i am in debt to them forever! these are just the sneak peak photos & I could not be happier or more excited!! All natural and pure moments!!

Amy is simply incredible. We hired Amy as our wedding photographer after she photographed my sister's wedding a couple years ago. The pictures themselves were beautiful - Amy is great at using the venue to frame family photos and candid moments alike. We chose here in particular because of her ability to get right in the middle of the action (e.g. horah dancing) and capture the excitement without ever being in the way. We've seen other photographers who feel the need to direct the couple and can really ruin genuine moments - Amy is NOT one of those. She lets your day flow the way you want and blends right in the action. She's incredibly professional but fun and a total joy to work with. Her second photographer at our wedding, Justin, was also excellent! We'd hire Amy again in a heartbeat. -

Amy was a pleasure to work with! She’s incredibly professional and takes beautiful photos. We wanted to work with someone who was great with candid photography in particular, and we loved that she was able to capture intimate moments - without ever feeling intrusive to us or the wedding guests the day of. She caught images of friends and family that we’ll treasure for a lifetime. Amy offered a really relaxed, warm and down to earth presence at our wedding. Highly recommend! -

Simply perfect.
Amy is fantastic. She captured everything the way I wanted. Looking through the photos makes me feel like I'm reliving it all over again. Every moment from first look to the reception was captured. My husband and I were thrilled with our photos from our wedding in December. Amy did a fantastic job from start to finish. We hired her largely because we loved her candids and were interested in having a lot of "in the moment" photos from our wedding. She did not disappoint! We have so many fun and amazing pictures of us and our guests having a great time. The staged photos are beautiful as well. It's going to be difficult to figure out which ones to frame since there are so many great options! Aside from the photos themselves, Amy was great to work with. The worksheet she sent us in advance helped us think through all the family shots and made that part of the event run very smoothly. She was also good at instructing us on how to stand and position ourselves. To top it off, she even sent us our thumb drive in wooden box with our names engraved on it. We could not have been more pleased! -

The best photographer out there. Incredibly reliable, professional, and of course the photos speak for themselves.
Amy captured our wedding this past Sunday and she was incredible to work with to say the least.
She was one of the most reliable individuals and did not let us down even through a hurricane that stopped others from coming. We did not have a coordinator or planner and the day was hectic to say the least. She helped us take time to enjoy the intimate moments. She even helped us stay on our timeline and was super professional throughout.
As awkward and uncomfortable as my husband and I are, she helped us feel at ease. Amy is different from other photographers in that her photos feel natural and raw. You can see and feel the emotion in her photos.
Our family and and friends were blown away just from the little preview we saw of our photos. We can not wait to see the rest.

This is WAY overdue, which is criminal on my part, as I really couldn't have asked for a better photographer. Getting a good photographer was one of the things I prioritzied in planning my wedding, because I knew the photographs would be what I had to cherish once it was all over. I must have looked at a hundred different reviews and portfolios. I am very picky and wanted a photographer with a gift for catching candid moments while maintaining their eye for composition, but who would also know how to direct us to get great formal portraits. The candid aspect, especially, was important. I happen to know Amy's husband from a work project and when he told me to check her out I thought "sure, why not?" without any particular expectations. Then I actually looked at her portfolio and it absolutely blew me out of the water. A lot of photographers take good pictures, but none of them stand out and the photos blur together. Not so with Amy. She knows how to capture the individual spirit of each wedding, and how to visually tell the story of the day. She is an extraordinary candid photographer and I couldn't be happier with my pictures. Putting aside her technical skill, Amy is also just an absolute delight to work with. She was invested in all the details of my wedding (many of which were very unusual) and got super excited anytime I texted her a new picture or update on what I was planning. She offered excellent advice without being pushy and helped my photo-shy husband feel at ease in front of the camera. She also got us our engagement and wedding photos all within her promised timeframe, and all wonderfully organized and edited. She and her co-photographer were wonderful, grounded presences to have around on the big day and I truly felt there were invested in catching all the details that made my wedding magical. I would recommend her without reservation, and think it's a shame that not everyone gets to have Amy as their wedding photographer. Hire her!!!! -

We chose Amy to document local elopement during COVID and would 100% recommend her. Amy was punctual, professional, and left us with beautiful images to share with our friends and family who could not be there on our day. Talented and fun photographer who captures the full emotions of the day
My husband is in media and previously worked as a freelance photographer + videographer himself. So not only was having great photos a top priority of ours, but I also trusted his ability to choose the 'right' photographer. Amy out shined them all with her portfolio.
In particular, we loved her ability to capture the true emotions of the day through both the organized photos as well as, more importantly, through her candid shots. We searched quite a bit for someone who could realistically do that and I can tell you that it's very rare.
We personally enjoyed her work and presence, but I think the true validation came from our guests who were impressed by how she actively got on the dance floor to get the best shots and angles. Once we received our photos, we heard, over and over again, just how impressed people were with how 'she truly captured the emotions of the day.' I can't tell you how many times I heard this from others! We firmly believe this as well and hope that others will have the chance for her to capture the emotions of their special day.
Aside from being incredibly talented, Amy is an absolute pleasure to be around. Your photographer is the person you as a couple will undoubtedly spend the most time with throughout the day. Having a caring, fun, and personable photographer makes all the difference in feeling both comfortable and enjoying the day even more.
Lastly, we got married right before COVID picked up in NYC. I think that's the real test of someone-- if you can be a calming presence during a wedding, let alone a wedding on the eve of a pandemic, then you are *truly* one of the best!
We hope to work with Amy again for family photos. That's how much we love and appreciate her work and her as an individual! -

I am myself a photographer so I was very particular about who we hired. Amy ticked all of our boxes and more. Not only is she a technically great photographer she is a truly gifted artist. She takes the time to get to know her subjects and what they're looking for. She works hard and goes the extra mile to make sure she's getting everything the client asked for and everything the client didn't know they wanted. Amy clearly cares a great deal about her work and her subjects. She goes above and beyond expectations and does everything she can to make her services are worth every penny and makes her clients feel special. We feel so blessed to have found Amy amongst the endless list of wedding photographers out there. Hire her! You won't regret it. -

Amazing to work with (planned from out of town)
The most important vendor for me to get right was my photographer. I wanted a person who would be a calming presence during what could have been a stressful family portraits situation, considering the size of my family and my husband's family, someone who would make us both feel comfortable in front of the camera, and someone who would be able to capture genuine moments during our wedding, knowing that the day goes by so fast. It was also really important that every vendor be flexible to work with us from out of town, as our wedding was in New York, but we live overseas.
Amy truly checked off all of those boxes. From our very first skype meeting with her (she was super flexible in working with us over skype from the other side of the world) we knew she was the photographer for us. We loved that Amy's photography style was very candid, and captured genuine moments.
On the day of, Amy was an absolute pleasure to work with. She made us feel comfortable, handled our parents' last minute wants (thank you amy!) and most importantly did an absolutely incredible job of capturing the excitement, love, happiness and overall amazing feeling of the day.

Amy Sims is an amazing photographer. Her work is beautiful and she is a beautiful person inside and out. She is so good that we continue to ask her to shoot for us whenever possible. We met at a wedding and instantly wanted her to photograph our wedding. I told her as soon as I got engaged I would be contacting her and that’s exactly what happened. She has photographed our engagement shoot, our wedding, our pregnancy shoot, our daughter’s baby naming, our holiday pictures last year and she recently did our holiday pictures this year. We will continue to ask her to photograph us. She is the best. She doesn’t just come and take pictures, she hangs out and is so much fun. My daughter loves her and had a blast playing with her at our recent holiday shoot at our apartment. She is very prompt with sending us the finished photos!!! I cannot believe how lucky we were to have Amy Sims Photography there to immortalize our favorite day! I never realized how much there was to think about with wedding photos. Hoooooney is there a lot to think about! Amy kept me cool and collected. She helped me focus on what was most important and worked backward from there to ensure we captured all of our favorite moments.
Amy took our engagement pictures as well, and she was able to help my extremely camera-shy husband get comfortable with having his picture taken before the big day. The extra time and effort she took to get to know us and make sure we were happy before the wedding made all the difference in the world.
During the wedding, she had contingency plan after contingency plan and was quick to solve problems before I even noticed they existed. She must have donned a ninja suit at some point during the reception because Amy was able to catch some incredibly sweet and genuinely hilarious candid shots without making anyone feel like they were "on camera." I cannot recommend her enough. 10,000 stars! -

Kelsey Sent on 10/18/2016If you are still looking for your wedding photographer, just stop and go talk to Amy now!!! The portfolio of work on her website speaks for itself. The gorgeous work that she samples there is absolutely what you can expect she will deliver for you. We fell in love with the bright, natural feel of her photos, how well composed the formal photos were (without looking too posed), and the really sweet and candid moments she seemed to have a knack for catching. The only thing left to figure out was how well we jived together! It mattered a lot to us that the person following us around all day asking us to smile was someone I was comfortable with. I'm pretty sure it only took about five minutes of our first Skype conversation for us to know that Amy was the one we wanted! She was just so sweet and personal, but also incredibly professional. And that feeling stuck throughout our entire year of working with Amy. Her responsiveness, attention to detail, and knowledge left us feeling assured that she had our photography work handled, no questions asked...which is a huge relief among the craziness of planning a wedding! But also, the entire time, we felt like we were talking to and dealing with a friend. And a really thoughtful one at that! There were personal touches that she put in along the way that brought tears to our eyes. Finally, suffice to say, we are obsessed with our wedding photos! They allowed us to relive our most distinct memories, as well as experience snapshots of all our friends and families enjoying the day with us. When you book Amy, you can guarantee that you will not only have amazing photos to capture the magic of your wedding day, but that you will thoroughly enjoy every step of the process. -

After going through her website and comparing her portfolio with some of the other artists, we decided she was the one! The reason we picked Amy was because we felt that her shots evoked great emotions. Ultimately, after the music turns down, your guests leave, your flowers wilt, it's only the emotional memorials that will stay with you forever. When we got our pictures back, we were also pleasantly surprised that her ability in taking still shots/family portraits is just as great. She took some really nice photos of our guests during the reception. When we forwarded the pictures to our guests, they were very happy, and felt special.
My family loves to take pictures. They would go out of their way to take a picture of me with their expensive cameras. Even though we did not pay for an assistant/second hand photographer, we felt that there were hundreds of helping hands in the room that day. So you can imagine how competitive Amy has to be in order to outsmart them, get ahead of them to capture me and my husband. There were moments when my family was taking pictures at the same time as Amy, and I kept yelling, look at Amy's camera ONLY please. Amy was very easy to work with, she just went along with it, it was great.
Amy's aesthetic talent and passion will definitely meet your expectations. -
