Choosing Amy was the best decision we made!
Choosing Amy to photograph our engagement session and wedding day was absolutely one of the best decisions we made for the entire event!! Amy is extremely talented, familiar with the diversity of locations around Grand Rapids, professional, fun, easy to be around, and takes any awkwardness out of taking photos. She does her homework and knows exactly how to use the time you have allotted to photos during your wedding day. Not wasting a moment. This was especially helpful given we were planning our wedding from another state and not familiar with all the locations around Grand Rapids. All this comes through in her stunning photography. Amy and her husband Jeff photographed our wedding day and they are a GREAT team! They captured everything from small, candid moments to large, formal family photos with organization and ease. Halfway through the wedding we forgot Amy and Jeff were our photographers because they felt more like friends. -

Amy is a gem of a human being. She took time to get to know us when she did our engagement shoot and then took time the week of our wedding to chat to make sure she knew what was important to us that day. The day of the wedding, she was amazing to have around. She's super chill but brings great energy. Now for her pictures - they are AMAZING! She captured our day in the most authentic way and we absolutely love our pictures. She is great at giving direction and has a vision for how she wants pictures or poses to go and I suggest just listening because it will totally be worth it. We can't wait to work with Amy again in the future! -

Where do I even begin with Amy? I’m convinced that Amy is an actual angel. Or Cupid. My husband and I have never felt as in love as we did after taking engagement photos with her. And to be expected, we felt that same way after our wedding day with her. She’s beyond talented at her craft not only technically, but she also has a beautiful ability to make you actually enjoy being photographed! My husband was not necessarily thrilled about being in front of a camera for our engagement photos, but afterward he was already looking forward to taking wedding photos. My bridal party also loved taking photos with her. Many of them have been in other weddings and said that Amy was the best photographer they’ve worked with. She takes charge, gets everyone where they need to be, is organized, has a great eye, and makes the process fun! She experienced a family emergency during our wedding day and nevertheless remained professional, enthusiastic, and present for us and for our day. I can only imagine how difficult that must have been for her. All in all, Amy is professional, beyond talented, and managed to capture the most meaningful and special moments of our day. It was so much fun to look at our wedding photos and see special moments that we didn’t witness personally. Amy captured beautiful memories, was flexible throughout the process, and was willing to make our visions come to life. We love Amy and our photos so much that we will travel across the country just to do family sessions with her as our family grows! Her second shooter, Heather, was phenomenal as well. We are so thrilled with all of our photos and are so grateful that we were able to work with such talented photographers to capture our day. Thank you, Amy and Heather! -

Inconspicuous, yet the whole night was documented!
Amy was wonderful. From our first call to communications post wedding, she made us feel so comfortable. She took the time to listen to our overall feelings of the wedding and made picture taking easy at our event. We had already done an engagement session by the time we booked Amy but decided to still do a mini sessions pre wedding (we used them for holiday cards) and I would recommend it to all future brides. It gave us an idea of how easy photos would be at the wedding. Amy and her 2nd shooter were inconspicuous throughout the night, yet they provided thousands of photos! I booked Amy based on the quality and casualness of her photos and ours turned out perfect! I would recommend Amy to all future couples and we plan to use her for any future events! -

Oh my goodness... Amy is the best photographer. I mean, I know there are lots of good photographers but my family is just so blown away by her work. Recommend crazy highly, wouldn't dream of using anyone else for our photos. -
Kate Sent on 07/09/2018Amy and her husband are FABULOUS! Leading up to the event, Amy answered all of my questions. She also did beautiful engagement pictures that we used on our save the dates. On the actual day, she made the photo experience so fun and felt like a friend during our downtime. Her husband did the same with the boys, and I know his easy spirit made my non-photo-loving-husband much more comfortable. The resulting pictures were breathtaking. I had multiple people tell me that they belonged in a magazine. I could not have been happier! She'll be the first person I call for family portraits when that day comes. :)

She was an organized, calming presence on our wedding day, and she made sure to get all the pictures we wanted. Amy was always quick to respond and answer questions, and she delivered our wedding photos very quickly!
One of the things I like the best about Amy is that she captures real moments. She doesn't ask you to pose much or "pretend" to do things, and she focuses on capturing everyone in the moment. The result is photos that are natural and beautiful. All of our wedding pictures turned out great, and looking at them is like experiencing our wedding day all over again. -

K Sent on 03/19/2018If you're looking for dreamy, cinematic, and utterly romanic wedding photos, Amy Carroll is your girl! Photography was my number one priority for my wedding. I knew that over time the details of our magical day would fade and I wanted to be sure that I had the most accurate portrayal of our celebration captured and Amy Carroll literally went above and beyond. At one point in our planning process my now husband referred to Amy as "the best wedding hype girl ever". We took our engagement photos with Amy in Chicago and from the moment we met her, we felt very comfortable. Having super affectionate photos taken by a stranger can feel daunting but Amy made it SO EASY. The photos she took that day blew me away, she captured the city vibes, love, and our pure excitement to get married in such a show-stopping way. I know that I'm gushing but honestly, I can't say enough about the photos and Amy herself. The weather was less than perfect on our big day and Amy & her incredible second shooter (her husband, Jeff!!) stood in the torrential downpour to capture some truly breathtaking images of me and my husband. Honestly, the ease in which Amy can make you feel like a genuine queen in the middle of a rain storm is a talent only a fairy godmother possesses. If I'm being completely honest, I didn't love the wedding planning process but I truly enjoyed and looked forward to every interaction I had with Amy. She took the time to ensure that every detail was noted before the big day and was available for a call or email at a moments notice. I've been looking through my photos non-stop and I keep finding new favorites! Amy is such a talent, I cannot recommend her enough! Do yourself a favor, hire Amy & stop worrying about that part of your planning process because honestly, she'll take incredibly good care of you!

We are totally in love with our photos from our wedding day - Amy perfectly captured so many special moments, giving us memories of a wonderful day that will last a lifetime. She is also incredibly easy to work with. We were planning our Michigan wedding while living in another state, and Amy went above and beyond to get to know us and make sure that we had a rock solid photography plan for our wedding day. She scheduled calls with us, met with us in the small windows of time when we were in town to plan our wedding, and made sure via emails and calls in the weeks leading up to the wedding that we were comfortable and happy with our photography plan. She has a wonderful, warm personality, and she truly wanted to give us the best photos we could possibly have. She and her husband worked together to shoot our wedding photos, and they were both calm, kind, presences on a hectic and emotion-filled day. Amy is great at helping provide direction when needed for photos, but she is also completely respectful of your space and totally unobtrusive. I can't say enough good things about working with her!

Kendall Sent on 11/12/2017Oh Amy Carroll. Someone needs to write a poem about this woman. Maybe her husband already has, or maybe I'll get there one day but for now, I gotta write a hella review!
So I was scrolling through Instagram one day and saw a photo of a bull or a horse or some animal print that I just loved and looked at the photographer's name and it was Amy. I saw that she was an all around photographer who did weddings as well as built a neat animal print collection that I loved. I was so drawn to her style almost instantly, and when I contacted her to see if she was available for our October wedding this year I just thought, please be as cool as you look. She was. From the first email, I felt like we had struck gold with Amy! She expressed so much enthusiasm for our wedding, but was chill too, and was incredibly personable. We had spoken to a few other photographers who had a documentary, artistic style of shooting and at times it felt like they were interviewing us as a couple to make sure our wedding was going to meet their expectations and be worth their time. In a world of Instagram and wedding editorials, we felt this weird pressure to have a beautiful wedding and be beautiful people and it was so intimidating. Amy was the opposite, she was totally genuine and trustworthy and really cares about serving the people she chooses to take on in a wedding season. Her pricing is in line with other professional photographers and her package options are easy and approachable and streamlined. After a fun engagement session, we were convinced we had found our perfect wedding photographer. By the time Amy and her husband Jeff showed up on our wedding day, we were so excited to hang out with them. They feel like your quirky neighbors next door, full of genuine smiles and taking such special considerations with all of the details and moments of the day! Our photos are absolute treasures that we can't wait to share with our family and friends for years. Highest recommendation for her! -

Paulina Sent on 09/26/2017Booking a great wedding photographer was a priority for me, and it was actually the first vendor that I searched for. We live in Chicago but chose to get married in Northern Michigan and I looked into multiple photographers in the area, but knew right away that Amy was the perfect choice – her website was amazing, she had so many glowing reviews, she was a recommended vendor by our venue, and after talking to her on the phone and hearing how much energy and passion she had for her work, I was sold. She was by far my favorite vendor (though they were all great!) as she helped us so much with our wedding planning – I was constantly asking her random questions about the area (recommendations for restaurants, things for our guests to do, etc.) and about the wedding in general – she was honestly my go-to person for many of my questions and was such an amazing resource. She was also very responsive, which I really appreciated as a Type A bride who was planning a semi-destination wedding
During the days leading up the wedding and on the day of, Amy and her husband Jeff (her second photographer) were incredible. They moved us through our timeline and worried about all of the little things so we could enjoy our day. They were both very professional, friendly, and fun, and our wedding party, families, and guests loved them.
As for the pictures – they are AMAZING. We did an engagement shoot with Amy a year before the wedding and I’m still gushing over them. Almost everyone who has seen the pictures has commented on how great Amy’s skills are. We just got our wedding pictures back yesterday and they are so very beautiful. They also cover all of the types of photos that I wanted – some gorgeous scenic photos, photos of all of the little moments that happened throughout the day, and some really good action shots from the dance floor. I’ve attached a few of my favorites from both the engagement shoot and the wedding, though there are many, many more.

They brought not only their talent behind the lens, but also their joyous spirit and loving vibes with them in front of the lens; which just added to the already excited feeling of the day. Besides the fact that Amy (and Jeff) is an awesome human, the quality and artistry of her work is exquisite. She has the flexibility to do both the traditional shots that the relatives want, and the artsy ones that you as a couple want. The feel of her photographs matched our personality perfectly, and we really felt that the photos we got weren't just pictures of moments, but of our actual feelings in those moments. What puts her above and beyond is that she showed up on time despite shooting a birth up the street just a few minutes before our photography was scheduled to start. She provided gentle direction with her husband and second shooter Jeff during a high emotion day with a smile that kept things light-hearted despite the potential for family-drama, lots of agendas, and busy schedules. And like I said -- her pictures were just awesome. By the end of the engagement photos and wedding day, we considered Amy a friend because she's just that fun to be around. -

Kristi Sent on 10/01/2012Amy Carroll has found clients for life. I cannot even explain how excited that we are to have found her! She documented the story of our engagement and wedding in such a way that it seems like real life every time I look through pictures.
Guys, if you're nervous about standing in front of a camera for a photo shoot, Amy is the photographer for you. She made my husband so comfortable in front of the camera - she tells you exactly how to pose all of your awkward body parts so they look GREAT in the pictures. After the shoot he said "she is a really great choice for us, that was actually a really good time and not awkward at all!"
Girls, she was my rock on my wedding day. When family got crazy I just looked at her and she calmed me right on down. She has great advice for locations and timing pre-wedding. She is a great resource, incredibly organized and will capture everything about your wedding day exactly as you imagine it in your head.
Her eye for detail and capturing shots is unbelievable. If you can imagine it, she can make it come to life through photography. I have had so many compliments on the style of photography that she brings - maybe even more than I have received on anything else!
Again, she will be our photographer for life. She will capture every single important phase in our journey together...engagement, wedding, babies, etc... She is the best choice we made on our wedding day, besides choosing to marry each other.

Sarah Sent on 04/08/2012I am so happy that I got to work with Amy Carroll -- in my mind, she was the second most important vendor on the day of our wedding. (The first most important vendor would be Jamie Kirby of Heyday Event Labs -- she's the one who suggested Amy!) Amy's photos turned out exactly the way we expected from her website: modern but romantic, flattering but still showing our real essences.
We met Amy when she drove out to Chicago for our engagement session; even though I was really nervous, Amy put me at ease and I had so much fun and the pictures turned out beautiful. She also listened to us when we talked about what types of pictures we wanted, and then she did whatever it took to capture those pictures. We explored our neighborhood, visited a friend's roofdeck, and played in traffic at least once.
On the day of our wedding, Amy and the second shooter she brought, Jeff, helped everybody feel comfortable, kept an eye on the timeline, and took more than a thousand beautiful photos. We are very happy with our photos and our experience overall. If we could do it all again, we would definitely hire Amy Carroll in a heartbeat. -

Rebecca Sent on 08/14/2010I can't say enough good things about Amy Carroll! I have only seen my preview pictures which she posts on her blog 10 days after the wedding and I am ecstatic! I planned a destination wedding on Mackinac Island from Kentucky so was never able to actually meet with Amy face-to-face. I found her on wedding wire and emailed her to see if she would be willing to travel to Mackinac Island to which she responded very quickly with a yes! We spoke on the phone when I booked her and I knew from that conversation she was very professional and great at her job. I could tell by the pictures on her website that I was going to love how the pictures turned out. I would absolutely recommend her to any bride looking for a photographer. She was so much fun on the wedding day and made me and my husband feel totally at ease shooting with her, which shows in our pictures. The wedding day flew by and it's the pictures I have that help me remember all the emotions I was feeling that day and all the wonderful memories I can now hold on to. The pictures look like they are in a magazine and she made me feel like a model! The way that she photographed the reception was unbelieveable. She really turns every picture into a work of art. She drove to Pennsylvania the day before the wedding and scoped out the town to find great places to take pictures. She definitely went over and beyond her call of duty.
