Words cannot possibly communicate how incredible it was to have Andrea document our engagement and wedding. Her team and the pictures they take are obviously stunning. Even with a then fiancé who is very uncomfortable taking pictures, Andrea was able to make him feel comfortable and some show capture our quirks and dynamic perfectly. And her ability to be flexible in her editing, getting the exact editing style her clients want, is not only beyond generous, but art at its finest, truly. But what sets Andrea apart the most for us was who she is. Andrea isn’t someone who just sits idly by capturing amazing moments; she CREATES them. She even danced on the dance floor with our guests, spent time teaching me (the bride) a dance, all the while taking amazing pictures of the fun we had. What Andrea does is both art AND relationship. She is worth far beyond what she prices. Our wedding was made all the more memorable because of her, and we couldn’t be more grateful.Amative Creative's reply:

Working with Andrea and her team at Amative Creative, was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She was responsive for the entirety of our planning process and wedding. She was able to use her expertise to perfectly execute the information that I shared with her about my vision, which was probably difficult as I provided her with a broad array of adjectives. Her and her second photographer, Claire, matched the energy of my husband and I which provided comfort and confidence for us on our wedding day. They went above and beyond for us, including, being almost an hour early to capture extra details, transporting my dress, helping bustle/carry the train, wrangling wandering family members, and even offering to take some videos for a family member with their phone so that they could enjoy the moment. We received a preview within days that contained over 150 photos, which was such a pleasant surprise and even more appreciated as we were married on a major holiday weekend. The photos were beautiful, and exactly what we wanted. We felt that Amative Creative's prices are very fair for the luxury quality of photography and warm professionalism they provide to their couples.Amative Creative's reply:

We had a great experience with Amative Creative for our wedding! One thing that really made them stand out was that they offer so many different editing styles to choose from, so we were able to pick exactly the look we wanted. They also got our photos back to us super quickly—about a week after the wedding—which was such a nice surprise. The photos turned out beautiful and they captured all the big moments and some great candid shots. I especially love how cool the dance floor shots turned out. We received tons of compliments on the pictures! Highly recommend!Amative Creative's reply:

Fantastic team!!
I met Andrea from Amative Creative at the Lynchburg Bridal Show and from that moment I knew that I had found the photographer for our big day!! From the start, I loved the flexibility that Amative Creative offered and Andrea perfectly understood our wedding vision. As someone who didn’t totally know what my ‘aesthetic’ was, I loved that I could see samples of different editing styles before making a final choice. In addition, my husband and I don’t live in the city that we were married in and we wanted to do our engagement shoot in a different city. We were so excited that Amative Creative had the flexibility to accommodate our vision of having an engagement shoot in the city we wanted. On our wedding day, we had an amazing team of photographers to capture our day!! Even with a last minute surprise about photo restrictions at our venue, Andrea and her team were able to quickly adapt and capture beautiful photos of our ceremony and for that we are truly grateful! Everyone on the team was so enthusiastic and hyped us up while balancing the timeline. As our photographer, I had complete trust in her directing us in order to capture incredible images from our day & boy did her and the team deliver!!! As a bride, planning a wedding can be incredibly stressful. I have never met a more passionate owner than Andrea, who genuinely cares and appreciates her clients and their needs. She is willing to work with you and listen to you. She doesn't make you feel like she knows better or that what you say isn't valuable. I cannot express how many vendors want to dictate how things should be and don't listen to your concerns. I cannot say enough good things about them. I can not begin to describe how amazing these girls are! I had my wedding back in August and it was absolutely perfect! Looking back at my pictures throughout the day, I could not have asked for a better team by my side! Sarah & Amber absolutely killed the photos and are two of the biggest hype women I have ever met! Throughout the entire day they were constantly there singing praises and doing anything to get genuine smiles. Andrea was the one I talked to throughout this whole process and she is absolutely amazing! She was very kind and patient with me throughout the process (I can be indecisive and really didn't fully know my editing style) and she made it work and went above and beyond with editing!
All three ladies are absolutely amazing and if you need a wedding photographer/videographer - look no further!! These ladies DO NOT disappoint!Amative Creative's reply:

My husband and I can’t say enough how pleased we were with our video and our overall experience with Amative Creative! From the first phone call, Andrea was friendly and professional, and she really listened to what was important to us when it came to capturing and editing our video. On our big day, her team came prepared knowing what was important to us, and was able to think on their feet when rain came and adjusted some plans! To top it off, they made all the little moments that much more fun! Once our big day was over, Andrea was professional and communicative with the editing process, and they delivered the most amazing wedding video! I will be honest and say that I have watched it almost every day since getting it back, it truly encompasses all the feelings that we felt on our big day and helps us relive them again and again! Best of the Best
Andrea and her team have all been incredible to work with! I knew photography was one of my top "no skimp" areas and Andrea was able to capture everything we wanted! Many of our extended family were not able to attend our ceremony due to COVID, but were able to "experience" everything through the photos we shared. From bridal portraits, to actual wedding, to even an extra shoot after the wedding in the mountains--her talent and skill is beyond anyone else I have seen! Even my husband (who does not love to be photographed) feels comfortable during our sessions and agrees she is worth every penny and more! We love her and will definitely continue to work with her for years to come!Amative Creative's reply:

Wow, what a wonderful photographer that goes above and beyond! Like many couples we had to change our plans due to COVID, not only was she flexible but her skills to edit the social distancing eyesores out of our photos made our jaws drop. Amative Creative did an amazing job photographing our wedding! Andrea brought a calming and professional presence to our day. As a photographer myself I wanted to make sure our wedding was photographed perfectly! She made my whole bridal party feel comfortable in front of the camera. Wowza!
From our initial call with Andrea, we knew she and her team would be an amazing asset to our big day. Words cannot begin to describe how Amative Creative exceeded our expectations! From the moment Andrea and the team arrived, it was like a long lost sister/friend/aunt/hypesuperwoman blew through the door. They were everywhere and all over, and yet not visible in the way you've seen *those* photographers & videographers at events. AND THE SNEAK PEAK ALBUM.... WOW!!!! It gives me no pleasure giving Andrea a less than perfect review, because her pictures are indeed gorgeous and she is a very talented editor and artist, and I do love my photos. With that, there were some things during the process I wish were more transparent and I thought others should be informed. She does not honor her contract at all/it needs to be updated. My signed contract stated I’d receive min 3 previews within 3 days of my wedding. I waited a full week until contacting her; she stated that the contract was “old” and didn’t account for editing…again so update it. OR at the very least admit and let me know you will not be meeting the terms of the agreement and tell me when I can expect them (she didn’t). I had no reason to believe I wouldn’t get previews for over 2 weeks and it was incredibly disappointing/frustrating. Additionally, the photos she chose to include were not what I’d hoped, I had several pictures of my dj but zero of my family…like why?
Additionally, 3 days before my wedding she texted me asking if it was okay for her to send someone else to do my wedding. Now, I am understanding of illness and family issues but if you really needed to sub my wedding, call me and and explain. But to put the decision on a CLIENT and ask if they are okay with you not coming as expected put me in a tough position, not to mention a stress I didn’t need before my wedding.
The contract also stated I’d get the full gallery by the one month mark, and after I didn’t get the previews until almost then, I knew that timeline was laughable. I was provided no communication as to when I might expect them just that she was “unusually” busy (clearly overbooked, admitting 5 weddings a weekend, etc) Or, you can stalk her IG stories for her queue but that just shows you where you are in line, not when you can expect anything.
Eventually I received my photos 16weeks after my wedding. While they were absolutely stunning, I was still a little upset about little details ignored (leaving scratches when I specifically asked to have them concealed out) or photos that were only provided in black and white, when I wanted color or the option for both. I’ll wrap up by saying yes her photos are amazing but go in aware deadlines won’t be met or communicated and you’re not guaranteed to actually have Andrea herself (I’m sure her whole team is amazing, shout out to Jo!) it’s clear anyone on her team is interchangeable. If you’re not bothered by any of that she’s amazing!Amative Creative's reply:
I’m so sad to be receiving this review, Stacy! Many of these concerns could have been addressed with me personally, so this has caught me by surprise. I sent a text as a reply hoping we could resolve some of these things to your satisfaction, but I haven’t heard back… You had just reached out yesterday saying how much you loved the images, and were “reliving everything with so many amazing moments and captures. They are already so cherished. Thank you!” So I’m a little surprised to say the least… I do want to address all of these concerns however, so that future couples can know all the details and be able to make an informed decision for themselves about these issues, and to hopefully give some clarity to things. As a reminder, my husband was approaching surgery prior to your wedding date, and his health was very poor leading up to it, which you were made aware of, and I asked if you had a preference of me shooting the wedding (I, someone you had not worked with yet, so had not formed a relationship with), or Jo one of our best photographers who shot your engagement session, who you said you loved and already had experience with, and I was actually surprised you wanted me there personally as well as her. I had texted you at 9:30am the week before the wedding asking if you had a preference considering my husband’s health and that I may take the day for my family but wanted to check with you first, you replied your desire at 9:45am, and at 9:57am I confirmed that I was happy to be there regardless and was looking forward to your wedding day! I’m sorry that question was stressful for you, but I honestly thought you might not have a preference considering we had not worked together and you were already familiar with another photographer. And I alleviated all your concerns in less than 30 minutes, so did not know that was a major point of stress for you. And yes, about the contract, that is something I should have updated before you signed… but during our consult call I had explained our new timeline for things, so I incorrectly assumed that aspect was understood by you prior to your booking as it seemed to make sense to you over the phone. To clarify, instead of 3 photos, 3 days after in a single edit style that you could not modify (our “old” way of doing things without customization), you received 59 images, in three different edit styles, where you were allowed to tweak and modify your preferences. And after review I created a brand new edit style we’ve never used before, just to match your specific desires (which is what we love to do, and why things take so long! :) ) We consider this a more tailored and personalized approach, which we also talked through during the booking process. This wording has since been updated in our contracts but at the time of your booking was still not defined, and I did try to explain that to you afterwards as well, but I apologize if it was not satisfactory. I also really, really want to address the statement of, “I had several pictures of my dj but zero of my family,” as this is factually incorrect. There are literally hundreds of images of your family. If you are referencing during the reception portion where I did include 2-3 dj photos, as we always do along with images of cakes, food, decor, lighting, the venue, and every other aspect of the reception. If there was a family member you are specifically thinking of that did not get captured during the reception, it is perhaps they did not dance, did not wish to have their photo taken, or were not in the reception space. I’d also love to point out that the Instagram Editing Queue is actually a helpful resource for our clients, and something that most photographers do not supply, giving you an active look at your editing process so you can be more in-tuned to the status of your galleries. Unlike other photographers, we custom edit everything, and with that comes a little extra time, which most of our clients understand considering the lifetime they will be viewing their images. We prefer not to slap the same preset on automatically or use batch editing software that makes fast turnarounds possible for single-edit photographers. And yes, just as I did with you, I try to make it clear that we are a creative team of photographers and videographers, and we make sure the very best person on our team is matched up to align with your vision! I hope that future brides reading this can understand how much heart and soul we put into each wedding day, sometimes at the expense of personal family issues that may arise. Every couple is part of the Amative family, and we are honored to be able to celebrate with so many amazing couples every week. -
