Alyson goes above and beyond to make your day special

I’m so glad that we hired Alyson for our wedding. Where do I begin? First of all, Alyson is the perfect balance of professional (always on time, does quality work) and approachable (laid back, flexible, super friendly). Plus her prices are reasonable for what you get. I knew she would be great to work with when we told her that instead of engagement photos we wanted professional photos of my husband in full armor for his fencing club, and she was totally cool with doing that. We talked to another wedding photographer before Alyson who refused.

My husband and I don’t have a lot of experience with weddings and we were so glad that Alyson guided us through the process so we knew what to expect. We’d be lost without her. She and her assistant really went above and beyond, especially on our wedding day. We had a small wedding so we didn’t hire a day-of planner (big mistake) and Alyson and her assistant stepped up big time. My bridesmaid had a last-minute work emergency and couldn’t help me get ready. Alyson and her assistant helped me get dressed and out the door. I’m eternally grateful! Alyson’s assistant also helped out with music, fixed my hair, plus staged some of my favorite silly photos of the day.

When it was time to review photos I think they took like 600+ throughout the day. Alyson composed a lovely album for us. We ended up splurging on the album because there were so many photos that we loved and we couldn’t decide. Alyson also did a leather cover with a custom symbol on the front. It was so awesome and I’m excited to share this album with our family.

One thing I didn’t consider when I hired a photographer is that you are not just hiring someone for the big day, you are hiring someone for several months (engagement photos, wedding album, edits, etc.) I think we were working with Alyson for about 9 months. You want to hire someone you will enjoy working with over an extended period of time. Alyson is that person. She is responsive, extremely helpful, and a pleasure to work with.

Rain or Shine, Alyson is Amazing!

We just got married a couple weekends ago so we haven’t received our photos yet, but Alyson and her second photographer Alexandra were amazing people to spend our wedding day with. We did engagement photos with Alyson about a year ago, and really liked both her photos and presence, so decided to go ahead and hire her for our wedding. On the wedding day, it was unexpectedly pouring rain with thunderstorms. Alyson and Alexandra were so positive about the experience and made the transition to being fully indoors really easy. At one point, they were both laying in the wet grass to get the perfect shot, which shows their dedication. We couldn’t recommend Alyson enough!

Say YES to Alyson

I cannot say enough good things about Alyson and her colleague, Adrienne. Hiring Alyson was the best decision my husband and I made for our wedding (aside from choosing to marry each other, of course!) Here’s why!

After we got engaged, we started the grueling process of finding vendors that matched our vibe, our vision, and our budget. We spoke with nearly nine different photographers in the greater Portland area before I found Alyson’s website on Google. I was immediately drawn to her colorful, whimsical, and candid style of photography. Alyson expertly captured the pure love, joy, and happiness of the day in each of her images. That’s what I wanted to feel when I looked at our wedding photos and I instantly knew I wanted to hire her.

From our initial meeting to the big day, Alyson was professional, kind, and patiently answered all of our questions within a timely manner. She was sensitive to our budget and customized a package for us that fit our specific needs and price point. Working with Alyson was so easy and fun! She and Adrienne made us feel comfortable while taking photos, which is a big deal for me because I am not particularly photogenic and don’t enjoy having my photo taken.

Alyson delivered the final edited photos to us after a completely reasonable timeline (which I knew could vary depending on busy seasons). I was SPEECHLESS. The photos were exactly what we wanted. My husband and I both felt like we re-lived the entire day while looking through the photos. I got really emotional as the love, joy, and happiness from our friends and family came to life in each image. I’m so grateful to Alyson and Adrienne for sharing their incredible talents with us on our wedding day. If I had to do it again, I would choose them every time. We even received several compliments from our guests about how fun and personable they were throughout the event. They fit right in!

Moral of the story: If you are looking for an extremely talented, fun, and easy-going photographer that makes you feel comfortable and taken care of throughout your wedding, there is no better choice than Alyson Levy.

Alyson Levy is seriously the best!

5 out of 5 stars for Alyson! We were first impressed by Alyson's beautiful portfolio, noting she had experience photographing intimate outdoor ceremonies like we were planning. After our initial get-to-know-you call, we had a really positive feeling about working with Alyson. Right off the bat she was responsive, organized, warm, and collaborative. She answered all of our questions, helped us understand all of the necessary points for consideration regarding capturing our wedding, and made us feel really confident and excited about having her with us on our special day. Alyson even went above and beyond by offering to meet us at our location prior to our wedding date to walk and talk through some photography ideas.

The day of our wedding, Alyson was prompt and professional. She made sure to photograph the meaningful objects and elements we had discussed in advance and had a way of finding the best spots for us to get some really beautiful photos. The final products Alyson delivered to us are just so wonderful - she shared an extensive album and a blog post, exceeding our expectations. We are so pleased with how the images turned out!

Everything we hoped a photographer would be

Alyson has a special talent for vividly capturing human emotion with honesty and beauty. In Alyson’s photos of our wedding it is so easy to see joy and personality shining through in the faces of our family and friends as they come together in celebration and love, and that is a priceless gift.

Alyson was always where she needed to be to get the right shot, like magic, which I think inspired our videographer to do his best shooting as well. Initially my husband was self-conscious about posing for photos, but Alyson was able to put him at ease and get flattering, gorgeous posed photos too.

Not only was Alyson’s presence comfortable and unobtrusive, but she was kind, professional, and conscientious about honoring the type of people we are, the celebration we wanted to have, and the way we wanted it documented. She was communicative, easy to work with, accommodating, and when our family was scrambling with some last-minute decorations, she even helped set up! Overall a wonderful addition to our wedding day.

We couldn’t be happier that we chose Alyson as our wedding photographer and recommend her without hesitation.

Simply the best.

We hired Alyson at the very last minute to do our elopement ceremony. From the very beginning she was warm and kind, and a pleasure to deal with.

She arrived early on our wedding day, and it was like a friend there to take our photos, she helped us set up, she was unobtrusive throughout the ceremony, and she even stood in as witness as we were unable to have any guests due to Covid 19. Following the wedding she took as to a park to take extra photos, and not once did it feel rushed. Alyson was wonderful at making as feel comfortable.

The actual photos were amazing! She is a true artist, her attention to detail and light were breathtaking. Her ability to catch the perfect moments, to show us as we really are, and the love we felt that day - made for pictures that make me cry each time I look at them. I come back to them often.

I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is the consummate professional, and a lovely person to deal with.

Great experience!

Alyson was so professional and wonderful to work with from start to finish. She is kind, thoughtful, prompt, reliable, and up for anything (including our windy, freezing cold engagement shoot on the sand dunes). Easy to work with and an excellent photographer

My partner and I decided to elope without much time to plan. I was familiar with Alyson's work from friends who had used her services. Luckily for me, she was available! It was unexpectedly snowing but she was able to find us a lovely outdoor spot to exchange our vows and captured the moment perfectly.
There was some drama over family members that had not been able to make it and Alyson was able to create beautiful individualized albums for them that downplayed the family that had been able to come, saving me the wrath of my parents.

One of our favorite vendors we had!

Alyson was absolutely spectacular to have for our wedding. From our first phone call she was so incredibly kind and knowledgable about what she was doing. She was incredibly professional but also very personable. She took a lot of time to make sure she knew what shots we wanted, what we were looking for, and how to make the photos reflect the emotions of the day. We received our photos within a totally reasonable timeframe (honestly way faster than some of our friends said they got theirs back), and they were STUNNING.

Alyson was so fun to have during the day of the wedding, quickly figuring out how to best capture the personality of the groups. All of our bridal party said they really loved her personality and her photography. We had a lot of fun getting those photos, and I think that comes across really well in the final prints.

I cannot recommend Alyson more! She is great at what she does and it a blast to work with!

Beautiful photos from a friendly professional

We were delighted to work with Alyson for our summer wedding; she was very responsive and had a detailed meeting with us when were "interviewing" her, then another in advance of our wedding. We agreed to take pictures before the ceremony, and she was very organized and efficient in this process (our families were impressed). During the ceremony and reception, she somehow managed to be everywhere at once, capturing the moments from all angles (she even somehow caught a picture of a random rabbit which ran across the field in front of the ceremony!) Most importantly, her pictures were gorgeous. We couldn't be happier to have worked with Alyson, and would recommend her to any couples in the future!

I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing Alyson was. From the first email, she was communicative, friendly, and attentive. She went out of her way to make sure my husband and I got everything we wanted and needed, walked us through the entire process of what to expect from her, how to make sense of such a hectic day, how to play it cool in front of the camera. (Which, trust me, I needed the help.) She even wrangled our insane families. She was with us all day long and captured both wonderful posed photos and beautiful candids. Like, seriously, amazing candids. We get so many compliments on our wedding photos. She just captured our day so perfectly, from beginning to end, from the big moments to the tiny details, and I love going back and looking at our photos over and over again. Best part? On top of the amazing album which she helped us put together, she sent us a custom thumb drive with our names and wedding date engraved so we have all of our digital photos as well. We're so lucky we found her.

A perfect fit doesn't even begin to describe how we feel about Alyson. She is a photography angel and we feel so lucky to have found her! When I started looking for wedding photographers I knew I wanted a combination of artistic photos and traditional wedding shots, and Alyson gave us both. Each and every photo she took was a unique piece of art, and she captured the emotion and feeling of our day completely. Alyson is professional, down-to-earth, and hilarious, and she really knows how to make people relax and look amazing in photos. We were so glad that she took our engagement photos before the wedding. This gave us a chance to get to know her and build a relationship. I knew from looking at her portfolio that I loved her style, but when our engagement pictures arrived I actually teared up over how beautiful and unique they were. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding a few years back that Alyson photographed, and after working with her in that setting then seeing her finished products for my friend’s wedding, I KNEW I needed Alyson for my big day! She is very responsive and easy to communicate with throughout the planning process. She is so personable and comfortable to be around, like she is just one of the gang, which is so important on the day-of. She has a lot of wedding experience which comes through on the day-of: I have a rather stressful family dynamic and Alyson was able to read and handle these situations when tensions were high perfectly. Her second shooter was also a perfect personality for the job. As for the photos, just WOW. I did not have ideal weather with wildfire smoke and fog, but Alyson managed to get the most beautiful shots. All of the shots look so natural, not awkward or super posed like so many wedding photos can look like. She truly knows how to “tell the story” and she 100% has “the eye”. I didn’t think I was going to care about “getting ready” photos or “first look” with my Dad photos or any of those details, but when your day goes by so fast it’s truly incredible to have everything captured by Alyson’s artistic eye. The photos exceeded my expectations and then some. Everyone I have shared my photos with has raved. A coworker said, “I’m speechless, these are WAY better than regular wedding photos!” In sum, go with Alyson, and you will not be disappointed!!

Alyson was AH-MAZING! We had a great experience with her and were so so happy with how our engagement and wedding photos turned out. Our engagement photos included our dog and she was very patient with him when he was distracted and not wanting to look towards the camera. She did a great job helping us before the wedding put together a timeline and shot list of the important photos we wanted, as well as being flexible on the day of with adding and subtracting photos. We decided to add a second shooter for the day of and we are so glad we did! The two of them combined were superstars at capturing every special moment of our wedding. We love our engagement and wedding photos and would DEFINITELY recommend Alyson to everyone!

Alyson was a dream to work with. As good as it gets. Organized, courteous, and reassuring amid all the chaos of game day. She listened to us carefully, took good notes, and executed our vision to the letter. But first and foremost, our wedding photographs are absolutely astonishing. I don't know how she did it--the lighting conditions were not ideal, the space was challenging, our timeline was chaotic and condensed. Alyson perfectly captured the best day of our lives, in every fun detail! If you're thinking about booking this incredibly accomplished, professional, organized, fun and friendly photographer, I highly encourage you to do so.

From the very beginning of planning, when she anticipated everything and even helped us come up with a graceful blended families photo plan, we knew we were in good hands. And on the big day, she knocked it out of the park -- setting us up for the greatest couple shots, cueing our officiant out of the way for the first kiss to make for a perfect photo, somehow photographing everything from every angle (how DID she get to the balcony and back during the ceremony and get shots of us in the same conversations with people from both sides?). Pictures from the crazy, fun dancing in a poorly lit room looked just as great as the ones from brightly lit outdoor ceremony. Going through these with each other and with family members, we all keep saying, "Yes! This is exactly how it happened!" Can't recommend Alyson enough.

The reviews are true; Alyson is incredible! She recently shot both our engagement and wedding photos and we could not be happier with the results. From start to finish, Alyson is professional, reliable, fun, easy to work with and had the exact style, creativity, and vision we were hoping for. Many of our guests commented on how unintrusive she was throughout the entire ceremony and reception and yet she was all over the place, beautifully capturing all of the big and small moments of the day. If Alyson's photography looks good to your eye, you should book her without reservation. All the other things you need a photographer to be besides good at taking pictures, she embodies. During the research process for our wedding, we had many people to choose from. And on top of that we were travel across the country from Philadelphia to elope in Portland. Alyson was extremely helpful in making our special day magical. Alyson was very accommodating to the location we had picked where she helped transform our time in Hoyt Arboretum, into a memory of a life time. When we asked her and her assistant to act as our witnesses, they did not hesitate and accepted right away. Alyson really made the experience a blast and we would have her as a photographer anytime.

We have had so much fun working with Alyson to date! We have met with her, settled contracts and completed our engagement session with nothing but the best experience. Alyson is magical! I would recommend her to everyone! What drew me to her company when I was looking for a photographer for my wedding was the diversity of people she's photographed and her poetic eye--she clearly was looking at her subjects in creative ways and putting them in creative settings.

I was lucky when Alyson was available for our date since we only had two months to plan our small wedding. Our initial phone conversation helped me think even beyond the photos--Alyson has so much wedding experience (all different shapes and sizes and flavours) that we talked about many other details and timelines. This graciousness with her time continued on our wedding day. She arrived early and stayed late! She had also scouted out interesting locations for photos near where we were getting ready and near the ceremony/reception. Her kindness and professionalism and creativity continued beyond the wedding day as she created such a beautiful wedding album for us.

We chose to work with with Alyson for a few reasons: 1. We loved all of the work on her blog. 2. She is experienced and had shot a wedding at our venue (McMenamins Kennedy School) before. 3. She has a great personality and is SO easy to work and communicate with. Of all the people we worked with to make sure our wedding was the greatest day of our lives, Alyson really stood out. We affectionately nicknamed her "the Indiana Jones of photographers" as she followed us throughout our day with all her gear, capturing ALL of the memorable moments - not just the big ones. Alyson is very experienced and did a great job helping to wrangle our family members for the formal shots. She met with us a few times before the wedding to set the timeline and explain where all the best spots were to take pictures. Throughout the entire process she was very receptive to and respectful of all of our input and it was obvious in the final results that she took it all to heart. She is both professional and also very witty, which helped a lot to take the edge off and put smiles on our faces when my wife and I were a little stressed leading up to the ceremony. Our end result? Over 700 beautiful, professionally edited photos, an amazing wedding album, and we got an engagement session included in the package - that day and those photos were just as awesome. Our friends and family members who were at the wedding also had a lot of feedback (as wedding guests often do) - everyone who came in contact with Alyson throughout the day had nothing but spectacular things to say about her. A truly amazing value and we have NO regrets. We are so happy that we plan to work with her for family photography in the future. If you are looking for the absolute best wedding photographer, look no further! Alyson is truly amazing. From our first meeting with her through her follow up emails and call making sure we were completely satisfied with our wedding albums, Alyson was everything we could have possibly asked for. We are from out of town, and Alyson was very flexible and accommodating to our schedules. She was extremely organized and made sure we covered all of the photo combinations that we wanted. This made our wedding day much less stressful and ensured that we had all the pictures we wanted. Prior to our wedding, she even drove out to our venue, which was nearly two hours away, so that she could scope out the best spots to take photos. She was an absolute delight to work with on the day of the wedding, and she was the perfect combination of fun and professional. She was also very easy to work with when it came to assembling our albums. And of course, the pictures were beautiful! Alyson truly has an artistic touch, and she really listened to what kind of photos we wanted. We could not have been happier with the final product. Her work is stunning! Several of our friends had used Alyson for photographing their weddings and various family events and had only wonderful things to say about her. Now I know why. We hired Alyson to photograph our wedding and she was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. Communication with her was easy and she was always quick to respond to any questions I had. She had the perfect blend of being down-to-earth and also very professional. On the big day, Alyson made sure we were able to get all of the pre-wedding photos that we wanted and did a great job working with us and our family. Within several days after the wedding, Alyson emailed us links to the photo booth shots, which were so much fun. I planned a wedding in just 2 weeks and was given Alyson's information for a photographer from an officiant. I contacted Alyson and she responded right away and was luckily available to photograph my intimate wedding. She met with me and was able to get information she needed to do my wedding in just one week. Alyson was professional, super friendly and non invasive. My main criteria for a wedding photographer was to find someone who could work beyond the posed photos, and capture the candid moments that truly make a wedding day special. I was referred to Alyson by the designer doing our invitations, and was impressed by her portfolio on her website, so we set up a meeting. From the beginning, Alyson was communicative, collaborative, professional, and fun. She asked questions and made suggestions to help understand and solidify my vision for the photos, combining my ideas with her expertise. We were planning the wedding from out of state, which was a hassle for me, but I never had any issues while working with Alyson. She was flexible and enthusiastic, and extremely helpful in getting everything to come together.

On the day of, she was organized and energetic, (despite the 100° heat!). She was unobtrusive during the ceremony (I didn't notice her at all), while still capturing all of the special moments. Her organization and direction made the formal photos following the ceremony extremely efficient: the family was out the door and on their way to cocktails in no time.

What I appreciated the most was the way she was able to put my photo-phobic groom at ease, which resulted in beautifully natural expressions in the photos (unlike his usual stiff smile in photos!). Her attitude and energy kept us happy and relaxed, which is exactly the memory I want to have of my wedding day. And as for the candid shots: exactly what I had hoped for!

When she sent the set over (in an adorably packaged flash drive), I cried all over again looking through them. I can't thank her enough for capturing the joy and love of our day - we will keep these memories forever. Alyson, thank you so much for everything.

Alyson did such an amazing job with our wedding photography! Our pictures are amazing and it really captured the day for us. One thing that we really appreciated was that while she got amazing shots (both up close and from farther away), she was never intrusive and we hardly noticed her taking photos. We had a traditional Jewish wedding with many different parts, and we had a long list of different moments we wanted her to capture - she captured each moment beautifully! Alyson is an awesome photographer and fun person to boot. Her pictures are creative and stunning and she is easy to have around on your big day. We gave her the huge job of helping us create a moving picture booth at our wedding instead of the traditional wedding video and it turned out beautiful. Such a fun way to capture he spirit of all the people who were there.
She took thousands of pictures so we feel that between the amazing photographs and the video (and a second photographer) we certainly got our money's worth. The pictures even came in a wooden box on an adorable wooden flash drive engraved with our names and wedding date. Alyson with Alyson Levy Photography was absolutely wonderful. She was great with communication and confirming details and met with us several times before the actual wedding to go over things and plan everything out. Her package included a free engagement session (what a great deal!) to get to know each other and practice shooting before the wedding. She's great at helping you feel comfortable posing, coming up with photo ideas, etc.

On the day of the wedding, Alyson went above and beyond. She scouted the venue ahead of time and did a great job of noting good spots for lighting, incorporating our photo ideas, etc. She helped keep everyone calm, she was very personable with family and conscious of any conflicts going on, great with the little kids, and even had little extras on her like bobby pins and safety pins that we had forgotten.

Our photos arrived sooner than expected and were great. She did an awesome job of capturing everything we wanted and incorporating different styles- my husband and I like completely different kinds of photos, and she accommodated both of our visions. She sent us an online gallery that we could share with people and order prints from and then later sent us a flash drive with high-res copies for print. She took hundreds of photos, did basic touch ups on all of them, and sent them all to us so we could have control over which ones to print and which ones we liked the best, unlike some photographers who pick out their favorites for you.

Lastly, her pricing is extremely reasonable for the area. I looked through dozens of photographers and she offered the most complete and flexible packages for the price by far.

Overall, Alyson exceeded our expectations and I would definitely recommend her for any event!

Alyson is amazing! We chose her from 4 photographers we liked in the Portland area, and are incredibly happy we did! She was very friendly, easygoing, with a good sense of humor, and very professional. She even did a few engagement photos for us when we met with her to discuss wedding details. I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Alyson Levy as my wedding photographer. She is talented, professional, and so easy to get along with. My engagement shoot was really fun; I highly recommend doing one. Not only were the pictures insanely beautiful, but also, the session was an opportunity to get to know Alyson and to get comfortable posing and kissing in front of a camera. This proved really useful later!

Alyson was truly exceptional the day of the wedding. She did an excellent job directing everyone during family photos. Because they went so smoothly, we actually had an extra hour between photos and the ceremony! During this hour, Alyson took gorgeous pictures of me, my dad, and my very-soon-to-be husband, as we walked around the Pearl. I didn’t have bridesmaids so Alyson actually ended up doing a lot of extra stuff for me. She put my veil on, held my wristlet, bought me a brownie from Lovejoy Bakers(!)… I simply cannot express the level of gratitude I have for Alyson. I would have been seriously lost without her.

And the pictures! My wedding day was the most full-of-love day I’ve ever lived in my life. This, mind you, is coming from someone who had wanted to elope! I cannot describe in words how that day felt for me. Because of the pictures Alyson took, I don’t have to! Every emotion was captured. That’s the thing that’s really special about Alyson… Yes, she took beautiful pictures of the tiny details that I had agonized over in the weeks preceding the wedding, but more importantly, she really captured the human element at my wedding. If someone cried, there’s a picture of it. If someone threw their head back in laughter, there’s a picture of it. These pictures do more than chronicle a day. They truly embody the feeling of the day. I just couldn’t ask for more.

Alyson was probably the "vendor" highlight of our wedding. She was incredibly professional, fun to work with, great at family-wrangling, and most importantly, took beautiful photos. We had many guests tell us how great they thought she and her second shooter were. One of my father's closest friends even pulled us aside to tell us how impressed he was with her. He is an amateur photographer himself and during the family pics portion of the day, he was taking his own pictures alongside Alyson. At one point, she was standing on a chair to get the best shot, and once she got it, turned to him and offered to take a picture with his camera since she was already on the chair and he wasn't about to stand on a chair at his age. He was so blown away that she'd be cool enough to make that offer to a guest at the wedding, he being from the east coast and having much experience with photographers there and their attitudes.

She's awesome, you will be in great hands on such a special and important day, and you will not be disappointed. Hire her!

Nothing short of a phenomenal experience with Alyson Levy Photography. Our destination civil ceremony in NYC was too distant to scout out locations for our photo shoot in person. No issue though - Alyson put together a collection of inspiration ideas, consulted with us for our preferences, and contacted locals for their input as well. By the time the big day came, we had a plan and a schedule to follow that was both rigid enough to keep us on track but flexible enough to include sunset and landmark photos we'd try for if we had extra time, energy, or the perfect conditions.
Alyson arrived bright and early on the wedding morning and stuck with us through a long but very fun day. She adapted well to rapidly changing situations (candid street shots, subway pictures) and still maintained a lighthearted, casual, and friendly attitude from start to finish. Her smile and warm words of encouragement helped us maintain the laughter and joy of the wedding ceremony straight through to the last picture, as our final album bears witness.
After the event, Alyson was quick to collect a small selection of moments for us to share with so many who couldn't be there in person. The full set of pictures came later and so perfectly captured the day that we experience the emotion of the wedding all over again each time we view them. As her portfolio can attest, Alyson shoots incredible scenes with her clients, but she also has an eye for the little details that make a moment even more memorable - the sideways glance of someone in the frame, a mixture of stylized and natural poses to fit the surroundings, the unique position of a decoration or ring that would have otherwise escaped notice. We couldn't be happier with the results: a rich set of pictures that beautifully document one of the happiest days of our lives.

We couldn't be happier with how the photos turned out! Throughout the whole wedding process, Alyson was friendly, responsive, helpful, thoughtful, and artistic. Unprompted, she drove down to our venue (30 miles outside Portland) before the wedding to scope it out. Before the wedding she worked with us to come up with a list of portraits and other photographs that were particularly important to us. Alyson guided us through the process and made us feel comfortable every step of the way.

We thought that Alyson was an incredible value: we looked at several photographers that were more expensive than her and we thought her work was better. We were really happy with the package she offered us, and that she was willing to include high-resolution versions of the photos instead of requiring us to print through her. During the wedding she was able to quickly herd all of the family and wedding party together for photos and let us go back to celebrating soon after. We were especially happy with her candid photos of us and our guests. Most of the time we didn't even notice her taking the photos!

I interviewed 5 different wedding photographers before making my decision. I had been warned by people that you can save money in many ways on your wedding, but don't get a photographer just because they are cheap. It is an important day and your photographs are like the best gift you get out of the big day, other than your spouse that is. I felt like I hit the jackpot with Alyson. I first saw Alyson’s work on a friend’s Facebook page. The photo was of my friend hugging his little sister on her wedding day. His face was all emotion: pride, love, and how-is-my-sister-already-grown-up.

When it came time to plan our wedding, my fiance and I wanted whoever took that photo to be our photographer. Alyson turned out to be friendly and professional, and she became a huge part of our planning process, visiting our site with us to scope out the most photogenic places for certain parts of the wedding. In our panic-filled final planning days, Alyson even weighed in on whether I--not much of a makeup person--should should get done up for the big day. “Photos are just memories you can look at,” she wrote in an email, “so make the day the way you want to remember it, and the photos will be perfect.” She was right.

On the big day, Alyson beautifully captured everything: setup, dress-up, ceremony, receiving line, and reception. I won’t say she blended into the background--that would be creepy--but she was natural and professional in her role. She knew exactly how to pose people for a big family photo and also how to put everyone at ease for great candid shots.

The photos did turn out perfect. From the shots of me getting a tiny bit of makeup on to the image of our flower girl hugging her mom, they slow down the crazy movement and capture the day just as it was: the nerves, the seriousness, the laughter, and the people we love.

Alyson is not only a very professional and talented photographer but she is also extremely personable and a joy to work with. We love our wedding photos and have received countless compliments on them. Recently, we returned to Alyson and asked her to photograph our newborn son and again when he was 6 months. We highly recommend Alyson Levy and will continue to rely on her in the future as our family grows.

Alyson is amazing at her profession! She shot my wedding with the intamacy of a family member, but her skills far superceed any relative of mine! ;)

The way she knows just when to snap each shot is SO unlike a lot of photographers I've worked with. Alyson has a unique angle that gives the photo a real "Fine Arts" quality to it, and somehow she was there for EVERY photo I really wanted to look back on through the years. As an artist myself, who attended a liberal arts college, I've known my fair share of photographers, but something puts her imagery in a league of its own.

The decision to shoot the ceremenony in black and white I absolutely LOVED. And at a series prior to the ceremony on the top of this hill... Not only did she get some of THE BEST pictures of Jeff and his boys that I've ever seen, but she managed to grab some of the most important moments of the day for me. She is bascially an amazing professional that I would hire again in a heart beat for any big event, or even family portraits as our family grows.

Alyson shot my wedding the way I always wanted it to be remembered! Without ever being in the way, or too pushy, she gracefully took everything from organized shots to candid moments on point. You didn't feel her presence in the room. She almost dancing around with that camera!

Alyson gracefully succeeds in being a thorough, detail-oriented professional, as well as an easy presence to share your day with.

On our wedding day, Alyson was a relief to my wife and I. We had full confidence that she was putting us in all the right positions and capturing the day just like we wanted. She made it easy and fun whether snapping poses or candids. She proved to be a true professional, always delivering on time and coming through on all of the photography plans we made in the lead-up to our special day.

The photos themselves are a gorgeous collection of our friends, family, and each other. Looking through them lets us remember our wedding day like it all happened yesterday.

Alyson is a wedding photographer extraordinaire! Not only does she take beautiful photographs, she's also very professional and her experience shows. As a graphic designer, I have worked with many photographers and I know that it takes a special talent to be able to photograph events well — Alyson does just that. She is able capture the quiet moment, the surprise expression and all the details in between. My wedding pictures turned out beautiful. I'm so glad that Alyson was there to document one of the most important days of my life.

Alyson and her second shooter got beautiful pictures of our wedding. She was easy to work with and had good ideas to come up with some great shots. I especially love the candid photos she got. Our guests loved the photobooth and we got a lot of great pictures from that too. She was easy to work with what was much appreciated during a stressful time leading up to the wedding.
