I reached out to Altana with hopes of building my partner a perfect engagement ring from scratch. Needless to say, I hit the jackpot when it comes to custom jewelers in the Bay Area! Not only was I able to schedule meetings to discuss and design the ring at my leisure, but I was able to comfortably time everything out and work with Altana and her team to develop a piece of art for my fiancé that she would always cherish. Altana is the perfect local jeweler! She is thoughtful and considerate, listens to concerns and provides support, and even worked with me as I brought in my own gems to incorporate into the design. I had hoped that I would be able to find someone like in the movies, where you can stop by and chat and gradually make the picture come together. I just never believed that I would be able to find someone so easily! Please, do yourself a favor and schedule time to meet with her. You will not only be saving yourself a lot of headache but also will be making a friend for life. I know that we will never use another jeweler ever again after having the pleasure of working with Altana Marie. -

I cannot say enough about Altana and team! An absolute dream. They made us feel like family and friends the whole way through. They we’re so thoughtful and caring with all of our detailed ideas. There were moments where we could’ve dreamed bigger, and they helped us in that space, and there are moments aesthetically we needed a tenured answer/eye; they gave it all to us.
We’ve had the pleasure of working with them for over two years now through our engagement and our wedding and they have never skipped a beat. Not only as their space incredibly beautiful, welcoming and warm, but their team amplifies it in the most incredible way. There are a few businesses that mirror your joy; when we felt joy it was clear they felt it to the 10th degree and genuinely. When we wanted to look at something in a more detailed way, they looked 10 times closer. When I didn’t have the words to describe, only the visual, they knew what I wanted and made it happen.
I don’t know how to describe this crew, but they’re such an anchor to my husband and I‘s story/foundation and every time I get to look down at our beautiful rings. All of the intention we put into creating these rings was truly played out and we get to experience that every day when we look at them.

If you’re looking for a small business to support, look no further: Altana and her team are amazing.
I had been going back and forth on whether I wanted to redesign my wedding rings and found Altana after looking for local Bay Area jewelers. From the first email reply I received from them, I knew they were going to be a good match.
I’m an annoying client: I always have a ton of questions. Altana and her team were extremely gracious throughout the process, answering every question I had, addressing my budget concerns and making sure I was satisfied and assured before going forward with fabrication. Altana just gets it: I didn’t know exactly what my aesthetic was or what I wanted, but she created the perfect rings for me that I am now obsessed with wearing.
About halfway through the process, I already asked them if they would help me with my next jewelry project. That’s how sure I was about them.

A one-of-a-kind experience
I don't think we possibly could have had a better ring buying experience. The whole team was almost as excited as we were to celebrate our engagement with a truly one-of-a-kind design. Sakura was a delight to work with at the shop and in helping us plan some truly incredible engravings we didn't think possible really making the final ring unique, and we'll never forget Cassandra excitedly running to grab us champagne after we deliberated for less than 5 minutes that this was the ring for us. Great people, great shop, great work. -

My fiancé and I were on the hunt for a Bay Area based custom jeweler that was super detailed and thorough, but most importantly, worked with queer couples. We did some quick searching and Altana was our first consultation - needless to say we didn’t need to chat to any more jewelers. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and from start to finish, really saw what we were trying to do with our rings. They answered our every question - there were tons - and were always responsive and prompt with us, even during busier seasons. We worked on our rings with this team for a little under a year and could not be more pleased with how they turned out. I have recommended Altana and team to many other friends who are beginning to look around, and will continue to for years to come! -

Amazing Custom Engagement Ring Experience!
My fiancé discovered Altana’s shop while searching for a local, sustainable jeweler to design a custom engagement ring. Altanana and Sakura were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and the shop was wonderful to visit in person. Sakura helped us choose the perfect salt-and-pepper diamond. We had a great experience and highly recommend them—we’re excited to return for our wedding bands! -

So glad I found Altana and her team! After discovering structural issues with my engagement ring (purchased elsewhere), Altana immediately had my back in finding a solution that honored my ring and ensured it had the longevity I expected from a piece like this. She kindly walked me through the problems, offered thoughtful guidance on appraisals and insurance, and even helped me navigate next steps with the original jeweler to make sure I covered all my bases and avoided as much out-of-pocket cost as possible. I trusted her judgment right away, so returning to her to recast my ring was a no-brainer.
When it came time to recast my ring, she was incredibly intentional about preserving what I loved while making smart improvements for long-term wear. Communication was excellent, and the craftsmanship is truly beautiful. It feels like my ring, just better. It's so comforting to know my ring is well-made and has the durability for a lifetime of wear. I can’t wait to work with Altana again on our wedding bands later this year! -

Altana did an amazing job! I bought this stone on a trip to commemorate a big accomplishment and Altana brought my vision to life. I gave her a short brief on what I was looking for, and she gave me a few sketches of what it could look like with my stone. Once I selected the direction, she executed it quickly and flawlessly. Altana helped us find our style and executed the vision flawlessly
We toured a series of ring designers in the Bay but it was after visiting Altana that we truly felt like we had a partner in the process. We had over 3 hour+ meetings talking about design, ideas, and process before ever committing showing Altana’s generosity and commitment to her craft and her patron’s experience. We were blown away with the result and she more than perfectly executed off of a blurry reference photo and our descriptions of our ideas.
We could not recommend her highly enough and have already recommended friends and family there. -

Custom engagement ring + wedding band
Altana helped us design both my engagement ring and both my and my husband's wedding bands. I went in not knowing too much about different customization options, but Altana walked with us through each decision, answering all of our questions. She did such a lovely job using the center stone from my grandmother's ring and designing a new, more modern setting for it. She also helped design my wedding band so that it would be able to sit flush against my wedding band and be a great piece to wear by itself as well. Altana was so kind, helpful, and attentive through the whole process. We love all the pieces, and can't to work with her again in the future! -

I have to say I give my husband sooo much credit for finding Altana. He went through this process completely alone (no input from me or anyone else) and found the most incredible local jewelry designer I could have imagined. Since the engagement ring, we have worked with Altana and her team on another 3 very important projects that we could not be more in love with. Each time we met with Altana and her team she was so warm and attentive and made us feel so at ease throughout every step of this important process. She understands extremely well how to guide those who have no idea what they are doing to those who have strong vision. She is a true creative that gave us so many ideas and helped us tailor each project so that it was better than we ever dreamed it could be. Her attention to detail and ability to truly pour her love and insight into each project is unmatched, so that each piece feels so uniquely "us" and "ours." Without trying to sound too cheesy, Altana and her team are true gems and I can't wait to start brewing the next project together! -

Exactly the custom ring we wanted
My fiancé and I had a great time working with Altana on a custom engagement ring! She walked us through each step of the process with tremendous patience since we really didn't know anything about rings going into this. From educating us about stones and types of metals to taking time to answer our questions about sketches and the CAD model, Altana and her team always took time to make sure we were comfortable with taking the next step forward. We found a ring in our travels that gave us inspiration for the general band style we liked, but the band we found was thicker than I wanted. I also wanted to keep the stone as close to my finger as possible since I'm always on the go and was worried about it snagging on things. It was definitely hard to tell exactly what the ring would look like from the CAD, but Altana 100% captured the delicate design we had hoped for in the end and it was even better than we could have envisioned! We are so grateful! -

I approached Altana to build a custom engagement ring. I had a design in mind, and Altana not only guided me through the process, but brought the vision to fulfillment better than I could have imagined! In the beginning, all I had was a scribble on some paper, and an idea... Altana took that small seed, and consulted with me, drawing up multiple versions of the concept for my choosing. We worked together over a couple of weeks, and once the idea was finalized, she set to work! What's more, I wanted to propose to my girlfriend on our anniversary, which was only a handful of weeks away. Altana not only took the project on, but was able to see it through masterfully from start to finish, and get me the ring on time! I can hardly believe that what was just a simple thought and a drawing, was able to become a beautiful, custom gold ring, and delivered to me on time for the proposal. My girlfriend was so elated, and everything went perfect... Yes, she is now is my beautiful fiancée... I love her so much, and to be able to give her something that no one else in the world has made the cherry on top of it all, and I owe it all to Altana alone! Nobody else could have pulled this off, and to have done it on time and with such masterful precision. I highly recommend Altana, especially if you have a very important ring that needs to come together perfectly. Altana is the one! -

Altana is so great! Working with her and her sister Cassandra was a very easy process. Altana did a wonderful job discussing design ideas, budget, and timeline. She made us FIVE RINGS. We were originally ordering a three ring stack, but we added the wedding band for my partner and she made us a little stacking ring for my set.
I am so glad we found her and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. -

Fantastic experience working with Altana!
After nearly a year of researching the best jewelers for my engagement ring, I found Altana's jewelry at Fiat Lux's Fillmore store. Altana's website and Instagram profile had a ton of useful information that helped me gain the confidence to work with her. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that her shop was situated less than a mile away from me! From the initial consultation to the proposal, Altana had been incredibly involved throughout the entire process. Altana's passion, expertise, craftsmanship, and creative drive convinced me that she would undoubtedly bring my vision to life. While other jewelers had many limitations, Altana made sure that I got the exact ring that I wanted. After a rather horrible experience with the original makers of my engagement ring (poorly crafted and constantly breaking) , I brought the piece to Altana and she rebuilt it and redesigned it with me. I was in awe of her ability to take all the things I loved/didn’t love about it, respect the initial design, and put her stamp of quality and artistry on it. I am so in love with the ring I have now and it feels so sturdy and solid.
Her artistry ran free when we asked her to build my wedding band to compliment it. My husband and I had very different ideas and in our consultation she laid out different patterns and helped us, through her creative lens, to find something we both love.
She made my husbands ring as well! And I got a ring made for my step daughter with the same stone as my band. She made a beautifully special gift, within my price range and was so genuinely jazzed to hear the story of how I gave it to her.
I’ve recommended a few friends to Altana and she never disappoints. Her work is always well made, stunning, and special. And her customer service is unlike anyone I’ve ever met - so genuinely excited to help be a part of your journey through her art. Couldn’t recommend anyone more! -

Altana is a master jeweler and wonderful guide through the process of creating custom jewelry.
I was intimidated by having to make decisions on my "forever jewelry", but her expertise gave me all the confidence I needed and made it exciting instead! Things that made a difference for us: 1) materials sourced are of best quality and come with documentation for appraisal
2) she helped us visualize the engagement and wedding rings together 3) suggested changes to help us achieve the aesthetic we wanted and event created examples to try on! 4) I love the precision with which the diamonds are set.

Outsanding Custom Ring Experience with Local Bay Area Jeweler
We had a tight deadline for creating our engagement ring, and were set on working with a local jeweler in the Bay Area. We feel so fortunate to have found Altana, and cannot recommend her enough! Communicating with her and her sister Cassandra felt personal and genuine from the start. We knew Altana's style was the right match, with a perfect balance of classic and modern aesthetics. The custom design process was wonderful, and she facilitated a collaborative experience for us that resulted in a beautiful 8 petal prong, peach sapphire ring. The quality and craftsmanship of the ring is outstanding, and reflects Altana's care and thoughtfulness. Talented and amazing jeweler
All of Altana's pieces are incredible but my favorite one I have so far is my engagement ring. She worked with my partner on it for months (without much/any direction from me) and she designed the perfect ring. It is timeless and understated but tasteful; I absolutely love it. Every single detail is flawlessly executed and that just describes Altana's intuition and work in a nutshell. I will come back to her for every single jewelry piece that means a lot to me. My fiancé worked with Altana to create my engagement ring. Amazing experience.
I had the great fortune of working with Altana a couple of years ago on an engagement ring project. I had a rough idea of what we were looking for, but she was able to help me narrow it down and turn it into a reality. She worked with me throughout the whole process. So lucky to have found her!
I feel SO lucky to have found Altana. My fiancé and I had a total nightmare in our first attempt at a custom ring. We wanted to use an heirloom diamond and the first jeweler we worked with used his own interpretation of a very clear design we had presented him. It ended up being nothing like what we had hoped for. We felt deflated especially after so much money spent on something that is so special. Altana saved the day and immediately welcomed us in with so much warmth and validation. She designed a ring more beautiful than I could have ever imagined and went through every single detail with us along the way. I feel so lucky to be able to work with her and she will definitely be my lifelong jeweler! -

Simply the best
Altana helped to design my engagement ring, my wedding band, my husband's wedding band, a special gift from my husband on our wedding day, my mom's engagement ring, AND helped to fix a bit of a mishap with some friends. I keep referring people to her, and keep going back myself, because she is not only an excellent jeweler, but also a joy to work with. She is thoughtful, kind, and helped to explain a lot of new concepts to us in a way that made sense. My husband (then boyfriend) really appreciated her sticking exactly to his budget and being so flexible with the gems to help meet that. 10/10 would recommend Altana to anyone reading this review!! -

Altana is Amazing
My fiance and I went to Altana to design a custom engagement ring as well as wedding bands. Working with Altana was awesome! She provided us with tons of different examples and design options, from very classic and traditional to modern and creative. She worked flexibly in our budget range, making sure that we had exactly what we were looking for without trying to push us into paying more. Her stones are also ethically sourced, which is important to us. When we got the engagement ring, it was even better than we imagined! We chose to go back for both our wedding bands, and the process was amazing once again. Altana listened to what we were looking for, and made three different bands for us to choose from that all fit the criteria we listed. They were all so beautiful, it was hard to choose one! The only thing I didn't give her 5 stars on was "Responsiveness," but that is completely understandable due to the fact that she was renovating her store during this whole process, as well as working with several clients. She was very busy, and we didn't always hear back from her right away. Despite how busy she was, we still received our rings in time and were overjoyed with all the work she put into them. Working with Altana was, by far, the best experience we had during all our wedding planning! -
