Beautiful and delicious!
Peter, the owner, is a highly skilled baker and has hundreds (maybe thousands) of examples of cakes he has made, every one a masterpiece. We tried a few different flavors and had a difficult time choosing! We went with a three-tier cake that had raspberry amaretto, chocolate, and strawberry cream. We showed Peter a photo of a cake we liked, and the end result looked so perfect! Everyone kept saying how good it was, and most of the guests tried more than one flavor. Peter was even kind enough to leave a box for the caterers to pack up the leftovers! -

Alphorn Bakery did an amazing job with our wedding cake. We ordered a pretty large wedding cake with 5 tiers and flowers separating each tier. Peter, the owner, did an amazing job on delivering exactly what we wanted. From our very first cake consultation with Peter we found him to be one of the sweetest vendors we worked with. We didn't know exactly how we wanted the cake to look but Peter gave us some great ideas and made the cake look better than we imagined. We enjoyed tasting many of his cake flavors and ended up choosing 4 different flavors for our cake because we couldn't decide on a favorite. We changed our flavors several times and came in to the bakery for several different cake tastings and the bakery always made time to meet with us and provide us with samples at no additional cost. Alphorn Bakery's pricing is very reasonable compared to other bakeries in the area and the taste is absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, on our wedding day our caterer's servers failed to serve cake to all of our guests including the bridal party and me and the groom. The small piece of cake that we did get to taste during the cake cutting was extremely moist and delicious though and a few guests that did get to taste the cake said it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We will definitely be coming back to Alphorn Bakery for any other cakes we need in the future. -

Alphorn Bakery did such an amazing job on our wedding cake and groom's cake! From the cake tasting to the wedding day they provided excellent service and were always responsive to any questions we had. To decide our cake designs, we just emailed them pictures of cakes we found online. They made our cakes look just like those pictures but better. We got tons of compliments on the taste of the cakes and the design. They are VERY reasonably priced compared to many other cake vendors in Houston and are so friendly and easy to work with. -

We hired Alphorn Bakery after meeting with about 5 vendors who wanted to charge 2k plus for their cakes. We found them luckily since they were inside of the loop. We had a cake tasting and showed them designs of the cakes we wanted and gave us an amazing price….a forth of what other people were charging. Our cakes were made exactly the way we wanted….I wanted a cake shaped like a Longhorn and they didn’t disappoint. We were able to see the cakes the day before and verified it was right. On the day of the wedding, the cakes were one of the first things to be delivered and they were able to add on the flowers and our cake topper. People devoured the cakes…luckily we had a taste! I would recommend them…you get the highest quality cakes and not for an arm and a leg. -

Alphorn did a wonderful job with my wedding cake. Peter Hobi is really warm person. He asked me what I wanted my cake to look like and made the cake just like I envisioned on my big day. The cake was light and moist and all the guests loved it. He has a wide range of flavours to choose from and they are all amazing. Very professional and good value for money. Would recommend using him for your big day! -

Peter was so kind and patient with the changes we made. The cake was made exactly to our final specifications and looked fantastic. It was delivered punctually, set up professionally and was lip-smackingly good. We ordered the Italian cream and Raspberry cream filling and both were delicious. The cake was soft, moist and the guests all loved it. Would definitely order again. However only cash accepted as payment - no cards. -

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Alphorn Bakery. They made our wedding cake, and it was absolutely delicious! They delivered it perfectly without any oversight on the wedding day. We had the Italian, Coconut, and Chocolate flavors in our cake (we forewent a groom's cake and just made one tier of our wedding cake chocolate). These were absolutely delicious flavors! Moreover, the bakery changed their recipe to accommodate our dietary restrictions (no gelatin or alcohol). Peter is an absolute delight to work with. I was surprised that they were the most affordable quote that we got ($4/person for buttercream or $5/person for fondant) because the quality was superb. The exterior designs were also top quality. Overall fantastic! Highly, highly recommend!! -

We are so glad that we went with Alphorn Bakery for our wedding cakes. Meeting with Peter was the main reason we chose his company. He was the nicest, most sincere person and he never tried to nickel and dime you. Your money will go a long ways with Alphorn. He is fair which is the best part. They worked with us to find the perfect design wedding and grooms cake. Communication with them was very easy and responsive. It really seemed as they worked for us rather than some of these other companies where you feel you are on their time. I couldn't recommend Alphorn Bakery enough and will return for any other cake needs. -

The only thing you need to know about Alphorn: everybody will LOVE the cake! Peter Hobi, the owner, is very nice and a pleasure to work with. He meets with you personally for the tasting and makes sure he understands exactly what you want for your cakes. Alphorn's prices and quality simply can't be beat! -

Christmas pasteries, cookies, etc., decorative etibles were the best anyone has ever tasted. Peter Hobi and Staff are truly spectacular and will make any bride or party planner's wishes come true. Peter from Alphorn Bakery was such a pleasure to work with. He provided our wedding cake as well as pastries for our dessert table. Both were so delicious! His wedding cake is so moist and the icing is just the right amount of sweetness... put together it's pure perfection! We loved Alphorn bakery and will continue to use them for future events. -

Alphorn Bakery was great! In one visit, I was able to do a cake tasting, finalize my cake design and sign the required paperwork. The cake arrived on time, tasted great and looked exactly how we discussed. Plus, this vendor has by far the best price we were able to find in town. -

Did an amazing job. The cakes were good. Not overly sweet and had the right texture and moistness for a big cake. We opted for a full fondant cake and it was very delicious. The fondant gave the cake a chewy sugary feel but wow it made a big difference in the way the cake tasted. They were very easy to work with and were capable in doing anything you can imagine for a cake. Their prices were very fair and reasonable. They didn't play any games by loading the price on the grooms cake. Great people. After two weeks we are still enjoying the moist delicious cake. -

Working with Peter and his team at Alphorn Bakery could not have been easier. My husband and I met with him twice to go over our vision and options for our wedding and groom's cakes, and we were blown away by the beautiful creations they have put forth for other weddings after the first meeting. Peter is incredibly talented, and his cakes were some of the best I have EVER tasted. Choosing a flavor (or three) was almost impossible, but to help us narrow it down, he offered to let us swing by to pick up more cake between our meetings, which made it very convenient for my husband and I to fit everything in between our busy schedules. When we showed up to our wedding venue and finally got a peek at our cakes (one of which was designed to look like my husband's race car), we were so happy. They got every detail right, down to the logos on the car! On top of everything else, we were able to work with him on our budget. I promise that I've seen more expensive cakes that didn't look or taste half as good as ours. Don't let the modest storefront fool you - Alphorn Bakery is the best in the biz! -

Peter and his crew of bakers made our wedding cake and my grooms cake. You know how everyone says you wont have a chance to even sit down the night of you wedding... much less get a bite of your cake... Will... our wedding day priorities of changed the day we went to taste test cake a few months prior to the wedding. At that moment when Lilian and I bit into the samples of cake he had for us we turn to each other with this goofy looking smile and said... THAT'S GOOD!!! Make you life easier and schedule a visit to meet with him. He is an Artist of cake and a provider of deliciousness!

We could not have been happier about our cake! Peter was incredible from the first meeting to the final product itself. His demeanor was positive, encouraging, and helpful. He showed us some of his work, asked what we were thinking about doing, then designed our wedding cake and groom's cake. The tasting, of course, had already sold us. His work is not just beautiful but absolutely delicious! On our cake we wanted a ribbon of icing trimming each layer. He took a sample of our wedding color and matched it perfectly. The guests have not stopped raving about how incredible the cake was. I would go back to Peter and use him for any cake needs in the future! -

I LOVED our cake! When I went for my consultation they were super nice and pretty much nailed what I wanted. The ribbon color was a little off but it didn't bother me because the cake was so DELICIOUS that it didn't matter! -

We had a photo of a specific cake we wanted, and Alphorn delivered it even better than we imagined! They were a breeze to work with from the cake tasting to design. They even created the perfect groom's cake for the nautical theme we wanted. We froze some of the left over cake while we were on our honeymoon, and have since defrosted it....it's still just as yummy! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! -

I absolutely loved my wedding cake from Peter at Alphorn. My planning/tasting session with him was so much fun. I loved going into his kitchen and creating my cake. I brought photos of what I thought I might like but after my meeting with him, I completely changed eveything and had a more spectaular cake than I even dreamed of. Thank you Peter for all your guidance! All the favors I selected were amazing. My venue (Villa Rinata) saved a piece of each so I didn't miss out on any of it. Robert & I had a late night treat on our wedding night. It was a delicious way to end the perfect day! -

Alphorn Bakery met our expectations and was the best vendor to deal with during our reception. This is just a small piece of the event but everything went as we were told and they completely delivered a great product and service. Peter Hobi was very courteous and prompt with our requests. We highly recommend them, my friend who is getting married in October will be using them because of our praise, and because they loved the cake and strawberries which were a big hit at the event. -

The owner was very great to work with. After my initial meeting, I couldn't decide on filling choices and he let me pick up some additional cake pieces to try more filling choices. I thought that was very generous and going above and beyond. The cakes came out just as pretty as I had hoped and my guests said they tasted great. This vendor was contracted through my reception site, Villa Rinata, so it was included in my catering cost to Villa Rinata. -

Our cake was not only delicious it looked so wonderful people were commenting all night. You could not ask for a more down to earth and likeable place. We will order cakes from him for years to come. Peter is a very good hearted and down to earth man. His cakes out-do any of the other over priced big name competitors in the Houston area. (tastes 100% better and half the price). Peter is by word of mouth mainly however he makes cakes for very famous people and sports teams on a regular basis, to name just a couple. He will design the cake for you on paper at your first meeting and it will be exactly as planned the day of the wedding. This caterer is well worth the money and I would recommend him for any event big or small. -

Peter Hobi's cakes are magical. He only provides his services to hotels and for weddings. Usually pretty cakes taste just OK, not the case with Peter's cakes. They are scrumptious. We had a hard time picking which cake to choose they were all so good. Delivered and set-up on time, provided extra flowers to decorate the cake table. Highly recommend for a stress-free wedding (if such a thing is possible). Pricing is very reasonable. -

Peter conceptualized exactly what I wanted. I said "simple but elegant" and he drew out a design that I'd been picturing for weeks. He was very responsive to what I wanted. In addition, his prices were unbelievably good. His prices are wholesale. He quoted and charged $400 less than The Cake Lady in Friendswood for the same quality cake. It was beautiful and delicious. Oh, and he delivered all the way to Galveston for free. If you haven't heard of him, this is why: he makes such a quality product that he puts no money into advertising - its all word of mouth. Peter is fantastic. He took our unconventional idea (superhero logos) and made an elegant cake that was exactly what we wanted. It was the nose delicious cake I've ever had. -

Peter did a great job. The cakes were both beautiful and delicious. Delivery, tax, and placing the flowers on the cake for decoration were all included in the cost. He was a pleasure to work with. -

Peter and Gloria are so great to work with. Gloria handles most of the correspondence but Peter is the real artist. Gloria's responses come quickly (within a day) and she is very accommodating to your schedule. They delivered the cake on time to Brookshire (WAY outside of Houston) and I didn't have to worry about a thing. When I went in for a sample and to design my cake, Peter was very understanding and willing to listen to my ideas and help me develop a sketch of the cake I wanted. It was a really great experience!
All in all, the cake wasn't quite as tasty as I had imagined it would be, but its beauty was EVERYTHING I had hoped for. Price is non-negotiable. I would and will definitely use Alphorn Bakery again. -

We were referred to Peter Hobi with Alphorn Bakery from my now sister-in-law who has used him for a number of occasions (personal and professional) over the past 18 years or so. I shopped around a bit and did a couple of tastings, but Peter was the best, simply put. He charges a fair price (which you would know if you received quotes elsewhere), the cake tastes amazing, and he is great to work with. The main cake turned out beautiful, it was exactly what I asked for. We wanted the groom's cake in the shape of a surfboard, so we showed him a few pictures, and it came out just perfect. Our guests raved on the taste too, especially the strawberry! I did a different flavor for each tier and while all were delicious, the strawberry really stood out. I will always recommend Peter if anyone asks me for a referral! -

Peter, the pastry chef/ owner is fantastic! His cakes are the best I've ever tasted... (I saw 6 other bakers before selecting Alphorn's raspberry bovarian & raspberry amaretto). The price was comparable to other bakeries in the area, I believe it was $3.50/ slice bride's cake, which sounds expensive but unfortunately that's the going rate. But I found that other bakeries really try to sell you more cake than you need, while Alphorn made the cake based on the number of guests that I needed to feed.
During the cake tasting we had a 30 minute conversation about all of the humanitarian work that Peter does. He's a really great person and an amazing chef... and he tells great stories! -

Delicious cake and beautifully made. I love Alphorn Bakery because the cake is so light and the frosting so yummy. Only problem is they changed their delivery time on the day of my wedding without informing my wedding planner or returning her calls. As I was about to walk down the aisle as far as I knew, there was no cake! This minor change for them created chaos at the venue and made me worry about something which should have already been taken care of...also our top layer of cake was made of cream and not the apricot we requested. -

We used Alphorn Bakery for our Wedding Cake and Groomsmen cake. They were very responsive to questions but I felt that their communication could have been better. When we paid our invoice in December of 2013, it was based on an estimate # of guests since we hadn't sent out invitations yet. I was never told that they needed a final head count so when I showed up in October of 2014 and mentioned the # of guests, they had to write me a new invoice because the cake was going to be larger and I owed them more money. They seem very inconvenienced by this too. Being a first time bride, I had no idea that I needed to give them a final head count. Obviously, in hindsight, of course they needed a final headcount, but I felt that they could have communicated better with me. The cakes themselves were beautiful and tasted great! We aware though, that when they ask you for pictures of what you want your cake to look like, they will produce a cake that is the EXACT picture of what you provide. -

I had specified a cascade of flowers down the cake. Peter Hobi indicated that this would typically be more expensive but that he would spare me the charge. Well, he left out the flowers, which left a perfectly presentable cake but not one that I envisioned. Had I known he was going to leave out the flowers, I would have paid more and gone with another baker. -
