  Honeymoon Maldives

  My fiancé and I were undecided on where to go for our Honeymoon.
  We met with Mechel and she had us describe what we wanted to do on our honeymoon.
  Like most, beach, great dinners, privacy and our own pool. We narrowed it down to Fiji, Tahiti and the Maldives. We choose the Maldives because it was the perfect fit for us.

  We were skeptical of getting a travel agent since we didn't know the reasoning behind it. These days everything is done online so it seems pretty easy to just book something yourself. Since it was for our honeymoon and we wanted to go to Fiji (which we knew nothing about) we decided to shop around for an agent. We ended up choosing Mechel and we were so glad that we did. We basically told her what we were looking for as in dates, prices, and the type of experience we wanted and she sent us the options that she thought were best. In this way it really streamlined what we were looking for and was great coming from someone who knows the South Pacific. The best part was that it does not cost ANYTHING extra and everything is arranged including airlines, ground transportation and hotels. It was so nice to have such an awesome trip and not have had to worry about a thing. Mechel was a joy to work with and we had the time of our lives in Fiji. Could not have imagined a better trip. We had no idea that they had actually made our departure flight from LAX an hour earlier and Michel called us with all of the details. She even called the airline to make sure that everything was taken care of for us to get on that plane. Again, it is so nice to know that you don't have to worry about a thing on the best trip of your life.

  Very disappointed

  When choosing Mechel as our travel agent we were promised many things. To begin with she reassured us 70 guests to our wedding in Mexico was no big deal. Mechel stated she has worked with large groups before and made it seem like there would be no issues. Not only was planning our wedding stressful but Mechel made this process 10x worse. There was no organization to begin with. Mechel would call my guests several times with the same questions. She overcharged many of the guests and had to refund the charges which still has not been fully handled. Mechel gave incorrect information to guests to include room rates and travel information. Mechel always blamed her assistants and had excuses as to why everything was always a mess. My husband and I finally came to a point where we were honest and asked her to make our wedding trip a priority and fix all the mistakes. Once again she promised she would get it together. Not only was the planning a mess, when we arrived to the resort in Mexico all of our rooms were incorrect. Plus our transportation was not scheduled. Guests paid out of pocket for their own taxis even though they had already paid Mechel to schedule transportation. Guests were also asked to pay more at the resort even though they paid their rooms in full. This was the biggest mistake we made when planning our wedding. Our hope is that no one else has to deal with a business like this, a business that does not provide customer service as promised and advertised.

  Liz,
  I am sorry to hear of the issues you have mentioned. You have mentioned all the rooms were incorrect, which is not the case. The rooms were booked on the dates given by the guests for their arrival and departure date to the hotel. The company that blocked the rooms only booked what dates were given per the guests.
  Yes there was an issue with an assistant, which falls on me.
  Regarding the issue of transfers. Transfers are booked based on flight schedules given to the tour company. Once someone makes a change and does not update or in case of the return, transfer schedule at the hotel as required, the company has no idea of the pickup time. The funds were not paid to me but to Best Day the transfer company. They refused to issue refunds since many guests did not confirm return times.
  For those that did not schedule their return transfers per requested and paid out of pocket, I personally paid each person the charge they incurred. Which is something other agents would not do.
  I am truly sorry for the issues you feel I caused.
