    We love Admiral Kidd!

My name is Eric and I own an entertainment company by the name of Extreme DJ Service. The Admiral Kidd is a preferred venue that we have had the privilege of working at for many years. If you are looking for a beautiful space with amazing food along with professional service... look no further, the AK is the place. We highly recommend the venue and their staff.

i always believe in "cheap & elegant" - reasonable price for our wedding package with the wonderful view of san diego harbor and over all cleanliness & great service from admiral kidd! we were lucky enough to get a "spot" or schedule our wedding on time we wanted it but sure worth the wait (we heard they get pretty booked 2 yrs ahead)!

I missed the taste testing that they hold twice a year but from other reviews I've heard the food is great, not excellent but very good.
Based on what my guests told me they thought the food was excellent so I was really happy with our choices and the quality. The appetizers were probably my favorite and they never let a dish empty. The setup and tear down of the main (buffet) dinner was quick and efficient.

This is one of the best deal, if not the best, that you can get in SD. Stunning view, food/service is good as well. The only drawback is you'll have to book waaaayyyyyyy in advance & need to have a military connection.

Wow! Not only was the plae itself absoluetly amazing, but the food was great! I thought it wouldn't be so good because it was on a military base, but boy was I wrong. All my guests loved the food and the meat choses. The ceremony location is outside facing the harbor and the San Diego Skyline, truly amazing! The ballroom was so big and is beautifully decorated with it's white pillars and has a huge dance floor!

The AKC, as my family and I have come to call it, was spectacular. We loved everything about our experience with them (Dan was my catering manager - so awesome!). Emails and phone calls were responded to quickly, and just about everything was perfect. The only reason why it's not a perfect 5 stars is because we weren't able to change the cocktail hour because the schedule was written 2 weeks prior, and we realized we didn't adjust the time earlier. Yes, it's technically our fault, but a "maybe we could call the bartender on the schedule to see if they could come in..." would have been a nice gesture. Other than that, everything was spot on and perfect!

AKC did a truly amazing job at our wedding on 3-16-13! We worked with Tess at AKC, and she was truly wonderful!! Everything went so smooth! We were upstairs in the Harbor View room, and had about 200 people at our wedding. Everything was set up on time, ready to go, and the room looked stunning!! We had so much fun! We opted to add on an extra hour for our reception, too, which I highly recommend!! Great service, great good, great fun!!! A great venue, too, for "out of towers"! They all really loved the view! We had our ceremony at AKC, too, and it was perfect!! Greatest day, EVER!

Awesome view! Honestly the wedding went perfect. Of course is did end up raining, but they were very on top of everything and converting the reception area into the ceremony area also. They were very accomodating with this situation. I was very worried that the rain would ruin the day, but they made everything perfect. Food was great and everything was set up just how we discussed. I would definitely recommend this site for anyone wanting to get married with the downtown/ bay view as your backdrop!

    Amazing venue and great experience!

We had our wedding here last month -- ceremony on the lawn and reception in the Skyline ballroom. Everything went amazingly well -- our coordinator Hollie was super supportive and totally organized from start to finish, the staff was friendly and professional on the day of, and the food and drinks were raved about by my guests afterwards! It was a dream of a wedding and I'm so, so glad we chose this venue for our special day. The view was unbelievable and the space was absolutely perfect. I have no complaints!

The only thing I will say is that there are multiple rooms / event spaces, so it is unlikely you will be the only event on any given day. But, that wasn't a problem for us, and our parties didn't get mixed up so I didn't mind this.

Admiral Kidd, is amazing. This is a beautiful venue with Hollie on the team our wedding went perfectly. The reviews of it being a nightmare, unresponsive, vetting was a challenge, this was the OPPOSITE of my experience. My husband and I are civilians and we had an out of town Sponsor and Hollie B. was more than helpful. She always answered my e-mails and calls within a day, sometimes minutes later. She was incredibly helpful on making our catering choices with the guest count of 150. We got married out on the lawn with a magical view and the reception was inside the Harbor Lounge. The room may look stately, but honestly with the view it doesn’t need much dressing up. We had simple décor and it was beautiful. I’ve received so many compliments on how beautiful the wedding was some calling it a million dollar view! This is a venue that is affordable and doesn’t charge sales tax since it’s on a military base. You really can’t get a better deal, view or catering manager like Hollie. Thank you for a magical wedding day!

The value was great. I feel that it was the best military conference center in San Diego for a wedding. It is a beautiful location.
They were flexible with my preferences & adjustments to the catering.
Tess did a great job-- sweet & personable.
The one difficulty is the bussing of guests onto base. But they know how to handle it. You just need to be prepared with a guest list &/or passes.

Both my husband and I had attended a couple weddings at AK, and we knew what a spectacular venue this was with the ocean and downtown views. We booked our date 15 months in advance, and had to book on a Friday since Saturdays typically book out 2 years in advance. I am certain that this venue is the best value for the prime location. It is not, however, very flexible, since it is a military property. It's not a problem as long as you understand the rules and policies. We had our reception in the Skyline Room, which is the upstairs venue. You pay for a minimum of 200 guests, and we had 175. We talked them into counting our 8 children as part of the 200 (contract says they do not count toward the minimum). We appreciated that flexibility to save $ on the kids' meals. We were not pleased initially with the AK coordinator we were assigned. She made mistakes on our contract, and we were not impressed with her communication skills with us. Then we met Nancy Watson-Leone, Catering Operations Assistant, at one of our walk through visits. Nancy has been at AK a long time, and she is absolutely amazing. She talked us through any questions we had that were not answered by our assigned AK coordinator. She made sure we knew our options and reminded us to get our guest lists in on time so that we were in compliance with the policies. The reception at AK was perfect - from the set up with our sweethearts table, with the sunset behind us, and our loved ones at their tables on both sides of us, to the spacious dance floor, to the food. We did not expect much from the food since the tastings at the catering fairs were just OK. We had so many compliments from guests on our food! Even though we had buffet, AK was flexible in making two special orders for two guests with dietary restrictions. If you are open to the policies and rules at AK (as well as vetting your vendors for AK's approval), then you will love AK for your wedding! We would definitely recommend it.

I am so glad we chose this venue for our wedding. We got married on the lawn and had our reception in the Skyline Room (upstairs), so we had the balcony that our guest could enjoy throughout the night. The food actually ended up being 10x better than we thought it would!! Our guests said the hors d'oeuvres were delicious and my dinner was very tasty! The view is remarkable, we received so many compliments from our guests about how incredible the view was. The only bad thing about the venue is that they are very strict with their rules, i.e. no bubbles, no sparklers, no rice, no flower petals, etc. However, we knew that going into it and decided we loved the venue so much it was worth it. Overall, I am so happy with our decision and I would recommend this venue to anyone who can get a military sponsor.

    Best. Wedding Venue. Ever!

We worked with Melissa at MSWR and she was helpful and very responsive. The day of the wedding went off flawlessly and the wait staff were superb. The food was excellent - we had a lunch buffet.

The location is wonderful! If you have a military sponsor, this is the venue to choose. Hands down.

This facility is great, Karen was a huge help! The food was fantastic and you cant beat the price! My husband and I were married on the lawn and our reception followed in the harbor lounge. The view of the San Diego skyline is breath taking at night. I would recommend this to ANYONE!

Anyone with ANY military connections should really look into booking at any one of the military's beautiful waterfront sites. When I say "any," I mean it was my bridesmaid's aunt's husband who was in the military, and he didn't even come to the wedding (his wife did). So really, work those connections! Admiral Kidd had a view of the harbor, and really it was fabulous for the price. We paid $40/person for a plated dinner which included a tone of stuff - appetizers, 1 hr wine bar, beer, champagne toast, all their fees were included (i.e. cake cutting), and I'm sure I'm forgeting stuff. I didn't get a chance to try the appetizers, but I did wolf down the dinner whenever I could. I had the filet of sole and it was pretty good! (By the way, they have a tasting fair every few months, so call and ask about those!) With all the money we saved, we kicked in extra money for the bar. The coordinator was incredibly sweet, kind, and flexible with whatever I wanted to do. She made sure I was able to get on base when I needed to, even though I didn't have any military escort. She worked with me on all my last minute changes, and when the day came, everythig was perfect! My only critique is that sometimes, it took her longer to get back to me than I would have liked, but that might just be my anal nature. The site itself, was great. When I first visited, I didn't think to much of it, but when it was all dressed up, I was pretty impressed. So I suggest trying to see it right before they actually have an event there. Also, the upstairs room is much grander with a balcony that was just awesome, and they also offer their lawn for ceremonies for a great price, which I would've taken, but it was already booked about 1.5 years out. I booked about a year before our date. I think all the military sites are such a good deal, that they are usually booked well in advance. So start planning!

What a beautiful venue with great views and big rooms. They are very affordable especially if your military which we are, the only thing is they sometimes are hard to communicate with and very precise on rules but totally makes sense because they are located on the base!

Admiral Kidd Club is an absolutely breathtaking venue. The grounds are beautiful and the San Diego skyline cannot be beat, daytime or nighttime. My morning ceremony on the lawn by the water was more than amazing. The weather was gorgeous and all of our pictures were fantastic. Now even though this is a military base, my Navy husband and I chose to leave everything else military out of our wedding. This venue is a great option to do either, although you do need a military sponsor to be able to use the base. And if you or your soon-to-be spouse are military, be sure to get the military discount!!

There are a few things to be aware of if you select this as your venue. I recommend using one of their wedding packages as this will most likely ultimately save some money. However, the alcohol they supply is not the best, but paying to bring your own is not worth it. They will do a great job with set-up, but make sure you are VERY SPECIFIC on how you want things to look. Review the contract in detail as they do have rules (such as no rice, confetti, flower petals, etc. may be thrown).

Bottom line- you may have to work a little harder with this venue to get your wedding and or/reception the way you want, but it will be worth it if done well!

(Also- be sure to book as far in advance as possible. They WILL fill up!!!)

What an amazing venue. It is only available for military but it is by far the BEST value and scenery of all the military venues. Our ceremony and reception took place here on a Sat. morning which was great because we were the only wedding and did not have to worry about someone else's space. We planned the wedding in 4 months so we did get lucky b/c of the time of year. The food and services were so great. They cannot be as flexible because it is a military base but they will definitely work with you and see what they can adjust or include/allow.

I went to a wedding here prior to getting married and knew I would get married there if I was still in San Diego. The space is great and i highly recommend the lower level even if you have a smaller number of guests than the minimum 100. The room allowed people to move around well without feeling crowded and without looking too spacious or empty.

Get married here!! you will love it. Request Karen as your consultant because she was so friendly, amazing, and worked with us up to the last day before the wedding!

This venue is tucked away on the Naval base, so the outer surroundings are a bit unappealing, however once you get to the two story building, it is just so beautiful. It sits right along the San Diego bay and the upper level has a deck that offers spectacular views of the ocean. The lower level is for small parties, I'd say less than a 100, but is nice because guests have the option of walking out onto the lawn and relaxing with the nice breeze. The upper level is sooo nice because the dance floor is in the middle and splits the room very nicely. Also, the food is fantastic. We did the buffet which we thought might be a little tacky, but people appreciated being able to get up for seconds if needed. And the windows are large and open which provide such great views.
