Amazing job!

Charlie did an amazing job officiating our wedding!! He was super flexible with our timeline as it changed a million times. He also even came to my house prior to the ceremony to pick up and have me sign the marriage license. Then, he went to my groom and had him sign separately as we did not do a first look. Charlie and Kati are amazing!!!

Carl Schroeder was our officiant. We were from out of town and I was nervous about never meeting him prior to the rehearsal. I worked mostly with Carl's daughter in law Kati who sets everything up. She was a sweetheart and I enjoyed working with her. I'm glad we decided to have Carl at the rehearsal to go through everything as we were having a non-traditional ceremony. When I met Carl, he made me feel so at ease. He is the sweetest man and has a way of making you feel like you've already known him for so long. He was making us laugh during rehearsal and the ceremony so that's always a relief. He told us we were his 700th something wedding! So, that right there is enough validation for me. A Wedding by the Sea has many different standard vows to choose from for any type of wedding. You can also take their standard vows and change them up which we decided to do. Overall, I'm glad we chose Carl at a Wedding by the Sea. We couldn't have had a nicer, more sincere person officiate our wedding.

Charlie Schroeder was our officiant. We met with him early on because we were concerned that the ceremony would feel impersonal if we didn't know the person officiating. He was easy to talk to, and we immediately felt comfortable with him. We invited him to our rehearsal dinner, and he got to know us and our families, and he even shared some pictures of his family with us. He and Kati were great to work with throughout the entire experience.

Carl Schroeder was the Officiant for our wedding. He was very flexible and accommodating. They provided samples of various ceremonies and I was able to pick and choose not only the content of the ceremony but also the order in which things were said. Carl even was willing to meet us prior to the wedding so that we could meet each other and go over the ceremony.

When I was interviewing vendors for my wedding on Hilton Head almost every one asked if Carl Schroeder was going to be my officiant. I figured if everyone was asking about him I should give him a call. I am so glad I did! Carl was fantastic. He met with us for about an hour for our initial meeting and quickly understood the vibe we wanted for our ceremony. He was happy to give suggestions on the ceremony and added a little humor to our ceremony (which was perfect for us and our families). He was on time, professional and truly made our ceremony perfect. He gets very busy during wedding season so book early (we booked 4 months in advance and he already had 2 weddings that day).

Gail was amazing!! Our wedding in Hilton Head was a destination wedding for us. We didn't know anyone! From the second we met Gail, we clicked. It was like we had known her for years. The entire process was flawless and being so far away she made it so easy. She made our wedding day so special. Gail was wonderful! I had never been to the Island and she was extremely helpful in coordinating everything and making sure we were well-prepared with all we needed to do. I contacted Gail on a Wednesday to see if she could marry us on that Saturday and she gave me availability times to choose from and provided me with additional valuable information on license, beach permit, locations and flowers - all of which we needed still. She was flexible, on time, professional and extremely pleasant - like a part of the family. I would stronly recommend her services and have to a friend of mine.

Gail did exactly what we wanted for our wedding on the beach. She altered the wedding to what we wanted and we were able to help write the ceremony and vows that truly expressed who we were. She was reliable and quickly responded to all of my emails in a timely manner. She also provided additional ideas and names of other services you may need in Hilton Head. We were having a hard time finding the location and type of wedding service that fit our style, but thanks to Gail, we found it in Hilton Head. Because of her we chose Hilton Head for our destination wedding as opposed to other places like Florida and Alabama. She was great and comes highly recommended along with having a wedding in Hilton Head. I never feared once about the actual ceremony.

I got married on the beach at Hilton Head Island on June 5, 2010, and due largely to Gail's services my wedding was perfect --- even though it was in a sand storm!

I first made contact with Gail in October of 2009, but didn't meet her in person until March of 2010. I'm a hands on person so that by the time my wedding occurred in June I must have talked to Gail weekly, sometimes daily. By the end of May I had driven myself completely insane and probably would have had a complete breakdown had Gail not kept saying: "Now Thelma we can do this and eveything will be fine."

Her services included contacts and references of all wedding related matters, i.e., rentals, accommodations, flowers, music, photographers, marriage licenses, permits, wedding planners, etc. Since both me and my husband lived out of state, these references and contacts were invaluable.

Additionally, and probably most importantly, she is the ultimate professional with a heart of gold. It was a joy working with Gail and I feel proud to call her my friend.

Gail Felton made my wedding at Hilton Head very easy, and for a reasonable fee. Not only did she do a great job officiating the ceremony, but she also promptly responded to all of my questions and provided me with all of the information to put together my beach wedding at Hilton Head without a hitch (well, just the intended one)! I would highly recommend Gail to anyone looking to put together a beach wedding at Hilton Head!

Gail did a tremendous job for us, it was a surprise ceremony for my wife for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and she did a great job keeping it a secret. The ceremony proceedings and words were very special to the both of us, I did not feel that I needed to change anything. Also, Gail made both of us feel like we were the only two people on the beach, in our own world and was very gracious in all ways with us...

We had a great service on Jan. 2, 2009. We had an informal gathering of 25 people in a garden and everyone was at ease and having a great time. I have to thank wedding of the sea for giving me the name of a wonderful wedding planner. We did very little, wedding of the sea and wedding planner Julie Miller took care of all the details for very little money. Thanks for a wonderful day !

The only suggestion that I would have is the Florist you refered (Flowers 4 Le$$) she was late getting there and forgot the brides flowers and the guys flowers were also wrong, at that point there was nothing I could have done, so I just went with it. Who forgetts the brides flowers? I don't know, if I were you I wouldn't refer her again. She did give me back $100.00. But she also took photo's for us and I knew going in that she was not a proffetional but on the saturday that we left she said she was on her way to put them on a cd, and wendsday when I didn't have them I called her and told her I needed them for our reception for a slide show and she said she would over night them, well the next day I didn't recieve them so I called back and she said it was too expensive to over night and I wouldn't get them till Monday after 3:00. And that was too late for the reception so I did'nt get to show those photo's in the slide show. I was not happy with the florist at all and would not refer her to anyone.

So while Gail was flexible and responsive, she had one small flaw... she had extreme pauses when she read the ceremony script between pages, which was a little distracting. My groom and I thought it added a character to the ceremony. She was a very sweet woman, a bit of a romantic, so we were happy to have her!

We hired Charles Schroeder of A Wedding By The Sea for our daughter's wedding in October of 2016. I have waited to write this review because of legal reasons. The weekend before our daughter's wedding Hurricane Matthew devastated the Bluffton/Hilton Head area. Our daughter's wedding was not effected by the hurricane except that Mr. Schroeder and his family was displaced. We were very sympathetic to his situation and made other arrangements by the Monday after the hurricane. Long story short, this was a destination wedding for all except the bride and groom, so I wanted to take care of some monetary responsibilities early, I paid Mr. Schroeder in full more than 30 days before the wedding. When he could not officiate the wedding I gave him a couple weeks before I contacted him about getting our money back. He assured me I would. Almost a year and half later, after taking him to small claims and winning the judgement, after him being contacted by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Charles Schroeder has not returned our money. I consider an officiant to be someone who should be trustworthy, as someone who is preforming one of the more sacred milestones in life they should have a strong moral compass. Mr. Schroeder has lied to me, my husband and a County Sheriff's Deputy, as he told us ALL he would return our money. Maybe we are not the first he has sandbagged and took money for services he never preformed. So beware, he lacks a moral compass, integrity and will not hesitate to lie.
