Eric is phenomenal! He ensured that we were able to have all of our needs met for our special day. He works well with what you ask for and ensures that the vendors meet your standards and will negotiate for your desired price range. On the eve of our wedding, a curfew was announced and we had to move everything 3 hours earlier and he had everyone on speed dial for the last minute adjustments. I 100% recommend A Modern Romance. -

Multifaceted Talent!!
I was lucky enough to find Eric for our 110 person wedding in North Georgia. I am so, so happy that I did because Eric was THE most important person at the wedding (other than my groom of course!)
Eric came to the wedding with his working shoes on - he was incredibly engaged and ahead of schedule the entire day. Instead of coming to me with questions as I was getting ready, he came to me with solutions and updated me on the process of his work.
Not only did he act as our day-of-coordinator, he also acted as our florist last minute! I had put my mother in charge of arranging our DIY florals from Costco, and Eric immediately saw that the situation required a professional hand. He arranged everything in the most beautiful way, and we received compliments on the flowers and greenery all night.
My only regret with working with Eric, as I told him, is that I didn't hire him for the entire wedding weekend! I can't recommend him enough - THANK YOU Eric!! -

The background
I was referred to Modern Romance (Eric and his team) by another wedding industry member located in Miami, and WOW. Our day was perfect. I’ll start by saying I’m quite meticulous; my planning style turned out to be examining every detail to excruciatingly annoying levels, then once I had the contract set I was good to go. That meant I was a very chill bride when it came to the day. My fiancé was the opposite, no interest in details until the WEEK OF the wedding! I’m any case, Modern Romance handled everything beautifully. Our wedding was in key west, at ft. Zachary Taylor state park, and my input and planning everything was all done from states away.
The planning
When we first spoke with Modern Romance ten months before our date, we gave an idea of what we wanted and let them run with it. I was able to change any details before agreeing to a contract and everything was very transparent and easy to understand. If I didn’t understand anything (before AND after the wedding!), or if my loving-but-insanely-large family had questions, they were answered promptly. I loved being able to email, text, or call any time. Even when something wasn’t urgent, I would receive a near-immediate response (even when they were at other events!). When plans changed, they rolled with it. When the guest count split, they rolled with it - they contacted vendors and altered contracts and tut-tutted with us. When my fiancé decided he wanted to do a sword fight last minute, they arranged it. When we were late on the playlist, they got it to the dj the day before. When we flip flopped on desserts for months, they were patient. When I sent them to help my fiancé choose attire, they were able to get the notion across that wearing a button down Hawaiian shirt was NOT going to happen. The entire team was also prepared to be extremely hands on and attentive the week of…
The week and day of
In addition to implementing all those little details (and adding more that fit seamlessly and elevated everything, like gold bamboo chairs!), the team had plans for things I would never have thought of. They planned for hot grandparents and changing dresses, they had first aid and cool water, blotting sheets and anything else you could think of. The entire team was malleable to any suggestion and they communicated changes to each other seamlessly, even on the day of! When I told them to just arrange the entire reception layout how they thought it would work and look best, voila! They did, and it was amazing (although I know they would have executed a detailed layout if I’d asked, down to the tiniest detail!). When my now-husband and I wanted to keep enjoying cocktail hour, they changed the timing of our entrance and the schedule accordingly.
Did things go wrong?
Yes, but I had no idea. Everything was taken care of and corrected to the plan. For example….The cutting cake my fiancé ordered didn’t get made. Did I find out that day? Nope. Did we have a cutting cake? Yep. Was it our theme? Yep. Same bakery? Yep. Flavor? Yep.
Overall
If I could start over knowing what I know now I would hire them again in an instant. Were there details I would change about the wedding itself? Probably not. It’s been several months and I’m still impressed.

Truly an expert in their field!
We had a very small wedding last minute, we did not have to lift a finger. Every single detail was covered, including things I never would’ve even thought of. We were given time to eat food while our guests mingled, they really paid attention to us and giving us time to enjoy the day, while making it memorable for everyone else. -

Eric is the person you want on your big day. He's responsive, kind and thinks ahead to make sure you can enjoy every moment. We were a 2020 couple and had to make many big decisions. Wonderful!
Could not have pulled off our Key West wedding without him! He worked with all the vendors to get exactly what we wanted and it turned out beautifully. Eric even sewed me into my wedding dress before the ceremony because it wasn’t as tight as I wanted :) Highly recommend! -

Eric at A Modern Romance was wonderful and has such a relaxing way of dealing with the stress of planning a destination wedding. We changed our number of guests, there was rain in the forecast, budget restraints, etc etc etc.... and oh my goodness...it was the MOST BEAUTIFUL WEDDING EVER. And bonus surprises from Eric!!! Eric was amazing! Worth every single dollar and more! He was so helpful and responsive all the time. He handled all of the vendors and payment. I trusted him with everything! The best wedding planner ever
I loved working with Eric so much. From start to finish he was a dream, he truly brought my vision together for my perfect wedding and it turned out to be a million times more beautiful than I had even thought it could ever be. He was always on top of everything and was always there if I called or texted him about something. He was knowledgable, accommodating and best of all calmed me down in all of my "bridezilla" moments. After all was said and done I have also gained a lifelong friend! -

Eric from a Modern a romance took care of our “day of planning” (although we started working together a month beforehand). He is extremely professional, but yet enthusiastic and extremely personable. He took care of everything we needed and more the day of the wedding. Our close friends and family who got to witness how hands and efficient he was could not stop commenting on what an incredible planner he was. He has an incredible eye for detail and will make sure your event runs smoothly and impresses all your guests. We truly have no complaints for him and his company. -

We had a destination wedding in Key West, size of 74 people. We hired "A Modern Romance" for a Day Of Wedding Planner and I'm so thankful we did! Eric was very responsive (which as a new bride, is so refreshing!) helpful, professional and pleasant. It was like having a friend there making sure every detail you want happens seamlessly! He was worth every penny and I definitely can not say that about all our vendors. I spoke with several wedding planners in southeast FL and I found Eric to be the most courteous and flexible. He put a package together to meet our needs and budget and then provided us excellent service from then on. From one bride to another, Eric is the best decision hands down! -

Kirsten Sent on 01/03/2016Eric Baker and his assistant Brittany are ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! We had 6 months to arrange a destination wedding in Key West. The size of the wedding went from intimate (3), to 50+, and finally settled at 30-ish. We wanted something that felt like a celebration since we'd been together on and off for about 20 years, so we weren't looking for the typical wedding. Like the ultimate pro that he is, Eric rolled with all the changes. He guided us through selections for literally everything - places for our guests to stay, the reception venue, the caterer, the food and libations, party favors and transportation, the ceremony location, hair and makeup, the flowers, the music at the ceremony, the band at the reception, the officiant, and he even scheduled a day in Coral Gables to find a dress... I could and should go on but the list would be endless. He worked all the schedules out with the Studio Julie (our photographers - amazing) and the White Orchid Studios (the videographer, also wonderful) so we could just relax and enjoy the day of. The decor from Duarte Floral at the reception was stunning, the custom altar made of driftwood was perfect for our beach wedding, our reception band Moontower kept us rocking and on our feet all night long and even played a few special arrangements for us (thanks for the Clapton and Beach Boys tunes!!!), Rusty Lemmon's acoustic arrangements of Never Tear Us Apart (INXS) and Wonderwall (Oasis) at the ceremony were PERFECT, his makeup artist Lori made me look like I hadn't aged in 20 years, the food from A Catered Affair was amazing, and the cake from Croissants de France was delicious! Looking back, we wouldn't change a thing. If you want a wedding planner who goes the extra mile and knows the best of the best in Key West, look no further. Eric and his staff at A Modern Romance will make your day perfect!
