We married in November and invited Herbert Zhu to capture our special day. I am so glad I did! From start to finish, Herbert Zhu was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. But what really stood out to me was the quality of the final product.
When we received the video, my husband and I were blown away. Herbert managed to capture the essence of our wedding day with a cinematic narrative that was both beautiful and emotional. The color palette was stunning, and the camera language was spot-on. It was obvious that Herbert had put a lot of thought and care into every shot.
What I appreciated most about the video was how story-driven it was. It wasn't just a series of shots strung together randomly - it truly felt like a cohesive narrative. Herbert managed to capture all the important moments of the day while also weaving in little details and candid shots that made the video feel personal and intimate.
Overall, I would highly recommend Herbert to anyone looking for a wedding videographer. Not to brag, but watching our wedding videos felt like watching the full trailer of a highly-anticipated, Oscar-winning drama. Herbert and his team did such an amazing job putting together all of our big day's biggest moments and the energy, aesthetic and love was present from start to finish. He was very quick to make little changes we asked for and he used all of the songs we requested in the extended version.
In addition, Herbert got all the shots we wanted to have on film to watch in the future (raw footage that wasn't used in the highlight videos) and that was a tall order considering we had over 200 guests and had a lot of different scenery to work with at our venue.
Southern California weddings are not cheap, and quality vendors cost a pretty penny. A Colored Mind Films had the most competitive pricing and provided more perks to their packages than other vendors. Highly recommend them if you want you to blow everyone's minds on Instagram...and have something to re-watch and cry tears of joy to with your partner whenever you're feeling nostalgic. -

Can't say enough positive things about our experience with Herbert from A Colored Mind.
Picking the "right" photographer/videographer is definitely a personal decision and for us it came down to his creativity, professionalism, and understanding of our different cultures.
We're kinda awkward and rarely take photos and videos of ourselves to share to others, let alone hire someone to do it. But he made the day so easy. He didn't get flustered or overwhelmed -- just a nice a balance which didn't ruin our ability to experience our day.
I have dabbed in prosumer photography and videographer myself as a hobby, and let me tell you, he pays attentions to quality of the shot in terms of color/lighting/perspective. It's just beautiful.
Very easy to work with in terms of edits.

A great skill photographer
It is my fortune to have Herbert as my wedding photographer. This gentleman is responsible, skillful, and friendly overall. Herbert and his assistant arrived one hour earlier than any of us to take pictures and videos of the wedding site. During the wedding, he kept shooting videos without taking a break. after the wedding ceremony, every guest left the wedding but him. he suggested my wife and I for more night time videos. Herbert had been working over 12 hours during that day. Not long after the wedding, Herbert sent us the demo of our wedding video and asked our suggestions. We gave a few of our thoughts, and he sent back the final video and It was a immaculate wedding video. Every detail of the wedding, the background music, and the whole color are perfect. I would like to recommend this photographer to anyone who needs one. It was a great experience with Herbert on my wedding day. -

We came across A Colored Mind when we were in the process of interviewing several other videographers. Herbert’s expert videography technique, tasteful cinematic style, and responsiveness really impressed us and we decided to book him right away. We had no doubt he will deliver exactly what we love and he absolutely went above and beyond.
First and foremost, the super premium quality of his work. Upon watching the initial version of our highlight, we felt he must’ve read our mind the whole time and made the perfect movie for us. The video was so artistic and thoughtfully created, it definitely brought our big day to the next level! Getting all the raw footage was another great decision we made. Since Herbert had multiple shooting angles setting up, we got to see the celebration in a complete view and it was super fun watching it!
Second, professionalism. Herbert lives about 100 miles away from our venue in Malibu and the traffic could be a nightmare. However, on the day-of, he arrived nearly an hour before the shooting start time and used the extra hour to get the stunning drone footages of Hwy1 and our venue details to be used for wedding highlight.
Lastly, communication with Herbert was very efficient from start to end. Even after the wedding and after the delivery of all the work, he was still actively responding to all our requests.
We strongly recommend Herbert to every couple who love cinematic&artistic videos for the most important day in their life!! -

I am so glad I chose Color Mind Video Production to be a part of wedding day. Herbert is a 1-man show so it took a while for us to get our video, but it was worth the wait. He is very affordable, but the value is still top notch. He is very responsive to emails and always kind. -

Having gotten married and gone through the experience of hiring many vendors to assist us, we now realize that THE VIDEOGRAPHER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT VENDOR OF YOUR DAY!! Our DJ was great, our planner was great, our musicians were great, our caterer was great, but no vendor's work had the impact - the EMOTIONAL IMPACT - on us as much as the work done by our WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL videographer: A COLORED MIND VIDEO PRODUCTION and it's man-in-charge, the very kind, professional and ARTISTICALLY TALENTED: Herbert Zhu. He worked with us throughout the entire planning of our wedding. We had to cancel once because of Covid. When we rescheduled, Herbert had already been booked for another wedding; BUT! HE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY to find us from among his videography and photography team of collaborators, the PERFECT VIDEOGRAPHER and the PERFECT PHOTOGRAPHER for our wedding AND! he promised to DO THE EDITING HIMSELF! This kind of courtesy and "going above and beyond" for a client is unusual in the wedding industry. Herbert and his crew CAN BE TRUSTED. EVERYONE WAS ON TIME! EVERYONE WORKED ALL NIGHT! NO ONE TOOK ANY BREAKS!!! PLUS! We felt their fees were very good - very reasonable!! This is an exceptional company who believes in meeting their client's needs. MOST IMPORTANTLY KNOW THIS - When we saw our wedding video for the first time - we cried like little children - it brought us SO MUCH JOY! Herbert has an artistic flare to his videos - they are not "average" - they are BEAUTIFUL, ARTFUL AND DONE TO BEAUTIFUL MUSIC WITH SPOKEN PARTS INTERWEAVED TO CREATE A MEMORY FOR A LIFETIME. As I said at the beginning of this review - a videographer is the most important vendor of the day. I believe A COLORED MIND VIDEO PRODUCTION is the finest in our area and it is my pleasure to give my highest recommendation to you for this highly professional company. What can I say? They are amazing!! Fast response, easy and comfortable to work with.. People always say that you get what you pay for? Well my husband and I knew we wanted a video and raw footage, but couldn't afford to pay for it all. This team gave us an amazing price for all of our footage and a highlight video! My husband and I got married in Sept. I came across Herbert on Instagram and instantly fell in love with his eye / ability to capture a moment. I could tell each couple was special to him and you can see how he personalizes each video to match / embody the essence of the couple :) He was super chill and easy to get along with. He answered questions/texts/emails very quickly. Our wedding day ended up being very windy but you would never know it by the material Herbert captured. It was perfect. Professional and Great Videographer
We only have two months for wedding preparation and we are so glad that we found herbert from A Colored Mind to be our videographer and he also recommend good partner to be our photographer. He even included our voice recorded vows in the highlight video he made. His drone shots are great! When I first started looking for a videographer, the first thing I noticed as I was going through portfolios was that each videographer have their own style, and many created cookie cutter videos...same scenes, same order, same audio layovers, etc. Not Herbert. His videos fell across the spectrum in terms of style, and each video had something special that made it unique. Another huge plus is the affordability. Thoughtful videos at a price that was cheaper than other videographers? Yes please! Overall, I loved my trailer and video, and I look forward to getting all my raw footage as well. Give Herbert a shot! You won’t be disappointed! -

Herbert made my wedding video dream come true!
I saw one of his videos years ago, and fell in love.
I married in a very small Outside venue and he really made the absolute BEST of it! He made it look huge, and captured the best parts of the venue and the party! It's so romantic, it's everything my husband and I had asked him for, and the price was so reasonable.
I recommend him to every one, whether your wedding big or small, he will make your dreams come true.
A video is forever! you will not regret choosing him as your videographer. -

When hiring a videographer for your wedding, you want someone to capture those important moments. I saw Herbert's work and fell in love. He is professional and was on time for my 2-23-2019 wedding. He worked from 8am to 7pm. He answered all his emails and returned all calls. During the ceremony and reception, I never noticed him. I even had a small wedding(50 people) That's what I like. I haven't seen his work on my wedding, but I know I will love it. If you're looking for someone that is professional, on time, and will answer all messages, look no further. I highly recommend him. -

When looking for videographers, the wedding videos on A Colored Mind Studio website, were the only ones that brought tears to my eyes watching complete strangers get married! Herbert worked with us on creating our custom package and included the mini destination. Herbert was there from the start of wedding make-up in the morning until the final dance and group toast at night.
Within a few days of our wedding, Herbert had our wedding teaser video done and sent to us. With our teaser, he tried some new special effects and the video was awesome and artsy.
We recently received our full wedding video, and Herbert magically created a video that tells the story of our day perfectly! I have watched it over and over, and every time I happy cry. It's perfect in so many ways and we are so happy that we have this video to be able to relive our special day.
Having a videographer was on the top of my wedding wish list, and Herbert made all my wishes come true.

Amazing , creative, kind
Herbert has beautiful work and is an artist. I originally saw his work and contacted him to do my wedding at the lake. He worked with me financially so I could have my dream video and was very patient and kind. The day of my wedding I had a million people in and out of my small dressing room so I felt a bit overwhelmed and he was very patient and sweet. He got all raw footage of my wedding and also made me a five minute video the summed up the whole experience and day . I saw during the wedding that he got every inch of our special day and was artististic the way he filmed it. He stayed until the very very end and I am so grateful he helped me and worked with me in so many ways because memories are very important to me especially because my parents are a bit older and my grandma is 92. The video takes a couple months but it's well worth the wait because when I got it ...it was the pmost touching beautiful video I've ever seen. The video made me cry and was so well done. I highly reccomend herbert. He is reliable , on time, creative , and a good person. I will use him again for other events. He also answers you fast when you have questions. I am so happy I found herbert. He's one of those people that made my wedding day extra special. I didn't tell him how to make the video either he just knows exactly what to do and what would make it special . Thank you for making my day special and capturing beautiful memories. You can rely on him and he will be amazing!!! If I want to relive the day all I have to do is watch the video . -
