No longer making wedding cakes!

Kara doesn't sell wedding cakes anymore, she owns an Etsy shop that provides cake decorations and food safe silicone molds, but she doesn't make cakes. I called her to ask about making our wedding cake and told her that I found her here, and she told me that she's asked to have her business removed multiple times because it's confusing for brides, ut they won't take it down. I'm posting here to let other brides know!

Kara created an exquisite 3-tiered floral cake for our wedding. Our first meeting was at the tasting -- what a fun and delicious experience! Kara was very helpful choosing our design (we chose one she had done in the past) and flavors (we had a different one for each layer). She was very accommodating with changes and communicated effectively via email. Our guests were very complimentary of both the cake's design and taste. If anything, the cake tasted too good; many of our guests had to try every layer! I would unreservedly recommend Kara and A Cake to Remember.

We loved working with Kara. She is absolutely no-nonsense and very serious about her work. When I had a vision of a simple white cake with gumpaste magnolias, I knew that she would be the perfect woman for the job. She is a true artist - her photos will knock your socks off!

Also - Our wedding was on the more intimate side with twenty guests and Kara was beyond accommodating of our budget and bringing our vision to life. Besides the appearance of our cake - it was absolutely delicious. Our guests raved about how the flavors (almond cake with amaretto filling) were a match made in heaven and the perfect complement to our wedding meal.

Kara is AMAZING!!! If I could give the value of her cakes a 10 out of 5 I would! She could be charging WAY more given the quality she brings to the table, pun intended. The cakes that she makes are incredibly delicious and her artistic abilities are even more impressive. She made the most beautiful flowers, that matched the centerpieces, for our cake, my guests could not believe they were not live. We had 110 guests at the wedding and the cake was made for 130, there were crumbs at the end of the night! It was very sad not to have leftovers, guess I will have to wait a year for the anniversary topper *sigh*
FYI: If you are not a fan of fondant Kara's is very thin and not at all gummy or chewy. She was absolutely correct when she said we wouldn't notice it. The cake was delicious even with the fondant!

Kara is wonderful! She's very professional and takes pride in her cakes. It tastes real and not commercialized at all. She's affordable and willing to work with your budget to make what you want possible within reason. She responds to email/phone calls in a timely manner. I love that she offers PayPal as an option to pay--very convenient compared to paying with a check (which is an option she offers too...) My husband and I both recommend her for anyone's wedding!

The cake was very tasty. It was hard to choose our favorite flavor combination, so we had something different on each tier. It was very beautiful, and turned out just as we had envisioned. There was also great value in the pricing. We found that many bakers had a very large range depending on what sort of decoration you wanted. A Cake to Remember based the price off of the size of the cake.

Kara is wonderful to work with and made a beautiful wedding cake and groom's cake for our event. After meeting, we were able to coordinate everything though email, which was super convenient. The cakes were awesome and absolutely delicious. The groom's cake was of our dog and was a huge hit at the reception!

We loved our wedding cake that we got from Kara at A Cake to Remember! It was the most beautiful cake we have ever seen!! We LOVED our wedding cake. It was exactly what we wanted and it looked just like the photo. It tasted great too, although my groom and I were way too excited and dancing to even enjoy a piece. We were nibbling off of it. Kara was extremely professional and responsive. I was nervous we'd run out of cake, but she assured me we wouldn't and we didn't. We even had the top tier left over, which we hadn't planned on saving, but we did. Kara's prices were really reasonable considering the quality and beauty of the cake we received. Kara is an amazing talent and I recommend her without reservation.

Not only was our cake beautiful, it was delicious to boot! Kara was professional, easy to work with and she captured the design we wanted perfectly. The original photo we showed her was of a cake made with fondant but we went with buttercream instead since we prefer the taste (and hey, we're going to eat it, right?!) and Kara assured us that she would be able to achieve the same look even with the buttercream. I'm so glad we did! It tasted great and it looked as flawless as the fondant. She's a magic woman, I tell you! We had three flavors and each one was divine. I would highly recommend using Kara for all your cake needs!

Kara just finished two beautiful cakes for my wedding this weekend. The grooms cake was exactly what I asked for and my groom loved it! Kara made a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing that was delicious! The details on the cake were amazing! I was so impressed with the grooms cake and then I saw the wedding cake. The wedding cake was AMAZING! My guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the cake was and several people have called saying they wanted a picture of the cake! The cake also tasted wonderful! Several people have said it was the best wedding cake they have ever tasted. Not to mention, my mother and I normally don't like chocolate cake, but we loved Kara's.

In addition, Kara was super easy to work with and so flexible! I really appreciated this as an out of town bride. I even gchatted with her to figure out the wedding cake before coming in for a tasting. I would recommend Kara to anyone who wants a cake that looks amazing and tastes delicious!

A Cake to Remember was amazing to work with. Kara did such a great job with the cake-- all of guests loved not only the design but also the taste!

We had a hard time deciding on the design of the cake and were lucky to have Kara's expertise and years of experience to help us! We ended up with a unique design that had an door opening at the top of our cake to match our "home" theme. Our guests were wowed by the surprise door at the cake that opened to a heart.

Kara was a pleasure to work with and we'd highly recommend her to anyone!

When I first started planning my wedding, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted my cake to look like so I googled photos of cakes & saved the ones I liked. Then when I started looking for a vendor to work with I googled businesses in Richmond & found a couple of the photos I'd saved were from A Cake To Remember's website!

When I met with Kara for a tasting, I knew that I didn't need to look any further. Not only is she an amazing artist, but her cakes are delicious! I've tasted lots of cakes at weddings, but I'm convinced none tasted as good as her chocolate cake! (I still can't believe she can make butter cream icing so smooth that it looks like fondant.)

When it came to designing my cake I told Kara I wanted ostrich feathers to be incorporated but that she could just surprise me with the design. I described my color pallet, showed her pictures of my dress & listed the flowers used in my bouquet. What I saw on my wedding day was absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!

I'm so glad that I let her use her creativity because my cake was one-of-a-kind! The gumpaste flowers were beautiful, the feathers were incorporated perfectly & it tasted amazing!

I had a fairly unique experience planning my wedding in that I only gave myself about 6 weeks to do it. I heard through the grapevine that Kara made lovely & delicious cakes, so I emailed her and was delighted to hear that she was available. I never did a tasting or spoke to Kara live, but after swapping just a handful of emails that didn't much specific direction from me, she managed to far exceed my expectations by making a gorgeous cake that was incredibly good! I would highly recommend the almond cake & buttercream frosting! I'm not sure this 'flying blind' arrangement would work for a larger wedding (ours was <40 people) or a more particular bride, but it worked out really well for me. We couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out!

Kara Buntin of A Cake to Remember made me the most delicious wedding cake I have ever had! She has an amazing variety of flavors and combinations to choose from and is perfectly happy to let you mix and match as you like! I planned my wedding long-distance and Kara was so easy to work with. We managed to do a tasting while we were visiting home, but everything else was handled by email or phone. I gave her a rough idea of what I wanted it to look like, showed her my cake topper and chose my flavors and fillings, and my guests were absolutely delighted with the cake! It was definitely a crowd pleaser. Kara delivered it to the location and set everything up perfectly, she was simply marvelous in every way! I can't want to order our 1 year anniversary cake!!

My husband and I had the easiest time picking our cake vendor the second we met with Kara. Not only did her down to earth personality put us right at ease, but her beautiful cakes tasted as amazing as they looked! As the bride, I had a specific vision of what I wanted my cake to look like and she matched it absolutely perfectly! I had no doubt in my mind that the cake would be gorgeous and it turned out it was! I loved my cake because it looked like the lace on my dress and the spice flavor added to the festive season! Kara Buntin is a PHENOMENAL BAKER AND PERSON! Everyone was SO pleased with the cake and what it looked liked and tasted like!! Kara is the best in town!! Her prices are phenomenal too and she doesnt charge extra for little details here and there...and since I was a picky bride, that was a good thing for me!!!

Kara Buntin is phenomenal! I changed the design of my cake from the initial consult three weeks before the wedding and she was so flexible! She has a great sense of humor and responded to any questions I had in a prompt manner. The guests loved the taste of the cake and it was absolutely beautiful. I loved how she didn't charged per slice like other bakers in the area.

We enjoyed working with Kara to create just the right wedding cake and just the right groom's cake for our daughter's wedding this past December. The wedding cake was beautiful and since it was a December wedding, we designed it to look like three packages stacked on top of each other with a beautiful red bow (made out of icing) tying them together. The groom's cake was a 3-D basketball with the Lakers (our son-in-law's favorite team) logo on it. Both cakes were incredible to look at, but tasted even better than than we could imagine. The reviews from the guests were wonderful. And to top all of this off, we had a huge snow storm in Richmond the night before and day of the wedding. Kara braved the icy streets and snow to deliver the groom's cake Friday night to the rehearsal dinner and the wedding cake Saturday night to our wedding location in Ashland. Kudos to Kara! We would recommend her cake services to everyone.

Can't recommend Kara enough. The cake was as delicious as it was beautiful. People raved. We had one layer almond and raspberry and the other was banana and chocolate cake with caramel filling. Everything is completely from scratch and you can taste the difference! Kara was fantastic to work with.

I highly recommend A Cake to Remember to ANYONE looking for a delicious and beautiful wedding cake at a great price! Kara is great! I told her what I wanted a striped cake for our wedding. She had never done one before but she figured it out and it was awesome. I also wanted to surprise my husband with a "sushi" groom's cake, she had never even eaten sushi before. When I presented him with the groom's cake he was totally surprised and loved it. There were actually people who said, "That's kind of gross. Why would you put sushi on a cake?!" I told them that it was ALL cake and safe to eat. (I will go back to her for any other "special" cakes that I need.)

We had difficulty finding a baker who could do a smaller, three tier square cake (the first baker we interviewed said the smallest one they could do was 135 servings!). We had heard great things about Kara Buntin, but I had contacted her about delivering to my original site, and she didn't deliver that far out. But now, with the change to the Winery, she could deliver to us! She always answered my emails quickly, and she was great to work with. The cake was perfect, and was exactly what we had discussed (I dont know who can take credit for the actual decoration on the cakeit was provided by our florist, but I dont know who physically placed it on the cake). We knew we would have tons of cake left over (94 servings for 55 people!), but we were surprised to see that the whole middle layer of chocolate fudge cake was completely gone by the end of the night! If you want a reasonably priced, delicious wedding cake, Kara is a great option. She also does amazing grooms cakes!

Kara Bunting, owner of A Cake to Remember, has to be the wedding cake maker to the stars, truly!!! Her cakes are not only exquisite, they are delicious!!! Her cakes are as beautiful as any of the cakes you see on the TV food shows, really! She made the most gorgeous cake for our daughter's wedding this past weekend. It far exceeded our expectations in the design and in the taste.

When my daughter and I went to her shop earlier this year for a tasting and to pick out the design, we looked through pictures of some of the cakes she had made. They were all so incredibly beautiful, it was so hard to pick out a design. After discussion with Kara and after she saw a picture of my daughter's wedding dress, Kara was inspired to create a cake based on the design of the dress. We had complete faith that she would be able to carry out this vision as we saw how talented and creative she was. Also, in sampling each of the cake flavors, they were all so delicious, we had such a hard time making a decision on the flavor. Kara even offered to bake each layer in a different flavor. I am not a fan of wedding cakes, but her cake is moist and delicious. On Saturday, when I saw the cake, it was really the likeness and elegance of our daughter's wedding dress and it took our breaths away.

It was also a great pleasure working with Kara. She was helpful, professional, and very creative. Her cake arrived in plenty of time too. I would highly recommend using A Cake to Remember for any occasion. I also thought the pricing was very reasonable, especially given the quality and work that goes into her cakes. Kara's cakes are truly a Cake to Remember!

Kara - cakes - soooo yummy! She wasn't as "warm and fuzzy" when I first met her compared to one of the other people that I interviewed, but her prices were MUCH better, she could do the grooms cake like a wanted (decorated with icing, not a "screenprint" of a picture), she had tons of experience! Very business like, so I trusted that things were going to get done right....and it did!! My cakes tasted better than the samples she gave me, and she had tons of different flavors of cakes, creams, fillings, etc to choose from. She worked wonderfully with my florist (real flowers on cake). My cakes looked exactly as I had pictured them in my head. And everyone at the wedding said the cakes tasted wonderful...and continued to talk about them for a while after!! Wonderful experience...would recommend again and again.

Kara Buntin is fantastic! I highly recommend working with her. She has a wide range of flavors to choose from and she does amazing work! She's super reliable and goes above and beyond. You DO NOT have to worry that she won't deliver! I visited with a number of potential vendors for this, and by far she was the best price with the most options to choose from!

Kara did a very good job. She was very easy to work with and our cake tasted absolutely wonderful. We got multiple compliments from our guests about the taste of the cake, and she was pretty well spot on in terms of amount of cake to order (we had some left over but not a ridiculous amount). Our only quibble was we felt the look of the cake came close to, but not exactly in line with, what we had in mind for the cake.

Kara is incredibly professional, and her cakes are delicious!! We were lucky enough to book with her rather early, and were excited about the quality of her ingredients. We booked her after a tasting of some of her flavor choices. We decided to go with almond cake and icing, chocolate cake and vanilla icing. The exterior of the cake was beautiful, and Kara was very flexible and worked with me on reworking the exterior midway through the planning process. We had about 50 guests at our wedding, and everyone raved over the cake. The quality of ingredients was obvious from the initial taste, and we were incredibly happy with the end result. The only reason I gave her a 4.8 is because I didn't receive a response to my emails toward the end of the process, although she did implement the changes I requested by the wedding itself. However, I was unaware if she had gotten the emails and this was a concern initially. All in all, I would recommend her as she does beautiful work and the quality of her ingredients is great.

I found A Cake To Remember using a google search. It was evident through the website alone that Kara has a great talent for decorating cakes and an impeccable eye for detail. But I wanted a pretty cake that ALSO tasted good (something that is hard to come by, in my opinion), so I set up a tasting appointment. I was accompanied by my fiance and his mom. One taste of the chocolate cake and we were sold! We did not bother to go to any other bakers. Aside from the delicious cake, we liked that Kara does everything; from the baking to the decorating to the delivering. This was a comfort as it ensured the quality of the product.

We used the detail on my wedding dress as design inspiration. When I first saw the cake at the wedding, I was blown away. Kara had gotten it to a tee! People were raving not only about the design, but about the taste. I would definitely recommnend A Cake To Remember to any bride looking for a beautiful AND tasty cake.

Kara did such a fantastic job with the wedding cake! Each tier was a different flavor and everyone loved it so much that there was no cake left over at the end of the night. We got rave reviews for the best wedding cake that everyone ever tasted! Kara was able to take our vision and make it a reality and we would recommend her to anyone!

So, I read the reviews on A Cake to Remember and decided to go with this vendor without having tasted the cake or even meeting the owner in person! LOL ... well before the actual wedding, I was able to make it to a tasting and I was SO happy that we had chosen to go with the company. The cakes are SOOO good, the combinations are delicious and the wedding day cake did NOT disappoint. I would highly recommend this vendor for cakes, she makes absolutely beautiful designs and the homemade cakes (no box mixes -- this was really important to me!!!) are incredibly delicious!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

A Cake to Remember was professional and responsive. Our cake was beautifully decorated the way we requested, and we received a lot of compliments on how delicious it was. The problem? The largest tier was not the flavor we asked for, signed the contract for and confirmed for. We had put the flavors of the cake on our menu so imagine our surprise when our guests said they never got to try the bride's favorite flavor - because it was not that flavor!

What a beautiful cake! She even made the red roses out of white chocolate so they wouldn't be thrown away - that way people could eat them (instead of making them out of sugar paste) at no extra charge.

Kara does an excellent job and can make pretty much any type of cake you want! She made a beautiful cake for our wedding, but I was a bit disappointed in the color. I had wanted a darker shade of pink and green on the cake, and even gave her a picture of exactly the colors I wanted and it ended up being way too pastel for my taste. The cake was one of the things that I COULD NOT WAIT to see because I really wanted it to stand out and I was hoping people would oooh and aaah at it. It was a beautiful cake, but it was kind of a let-down when I saw it. Kara is a joy to work with though and she's probably one of the best in Richmond. I just wish I had felt happier about the end result.

We had our groom's cake and wedding cake done by Kara (she was recommended to us by our venue). We were excited after our first meeting with her because we thought she really knew our vision. Kara was quick to respond to my emails (I had a lot of questions about the groom's cake!) and I was very appreciative about that. I think Kara did a great job with the cakes, but it wasn't exactly what we had envisioned. My expectation for the groom's cake was a round cake, but it turned out square. The details on the cake were great but it just wasn't what I had expected (all the pictures I had sent to her as inspiration were round). Our wedding cake was beautiful (especially the gold flower), but the coloring for the ombre was a little off and the fondant on the top tier started to bubble and you could really see it in our pictures which was disappointing.

ok, so everything started out really well. My daughter used her for her wedding in July and I was getting married in September. We met at her house and she wrote down everything we had in mind. My colors were purple and silver. I wanted the cake to have some representations of Greek, but not BE Greek. We ultimately decided on a design that she had a picture of that had something like a grapevine coming down the side of the cake with bunches of grapes and leaves at the bottom. Then there was to be a quote from our song on the side of the cake in silver.
However, the Wednesday before our Sunday wedding I called her to just to touch base with here and she had nothing planned for us at all! Apparently, we were supposed to have sent back a contract that I did not have. So since she never got back the signed contract, she forgot all about us.
That being said, she did say she could do it. I went over with her again what the cake was supposed to be, and that we had chosen one specifically from her portfolio.
She delivered on time a cake that somewhat resembled what we were supposed to have had, but was so seriously lacking in design and effort, that I was so disappointed I wanted to cry. There was no effort put into the final product at ALL.

Kara is very professional. The initial appointment was great. She explained everything and the samples were very tasty. The cake for the wedding was delicious, but wasn't exactly what I wanted. I had sent a picture of what I wanted and the wedding cake did not look the cake I sent. I wish she would have said that the design I wanted wasn't possible or was difficult, instead the cake looked very off of what I wanted and sort of looked amateurish.

From the start, Kara was a bit frazzled as far as I could tell. Our initial meeting wasn't on her calendar, and there were no samples for us. We had to return several weeks later, because apparently she only makes samples for one or two particular days at a time. The quality of taste of her cake is fabulous, but as for the outside, make 150% sure that she knows what you want. I had asked for a blown glass type outside of her cake, as seen on her website, and apparently in her rush to get through an appointment she had not recorded, she wrote down the incorrect thing. From then on, I did not have another meeting with her, only email communication. When it came to sign the contract, I assumed that the information she had written down during our 10-15 minute meeting was accurate and used that on our contract. Turns out she had written down the incorrect information, and on our wedding day I could not have been more disappointed, to the point I had my mom and sister come up and tell me the wrong cake had been delivered which nearly sent me to tears. The cake she delivered was fine in its own respect, but when I was expecting a completely different and more gorgeous cake, it was heart breaking.

When I called her on my return from our honeymoon, I was told that she was confused and that I had made the mistake. She did not take ownership of the error or offer any sort of partial refund for the fact that the incorrect type of cake had been delivered. I didn't expect to receive any money back, but I had hoped for her to take ownership of the problem rather than attempt to blame me.

I don't advise against using this vendor, only that you make sure that SHE knows what YOU want, and make sure of this before you sign the contract and pay the deposit, after that it is limited almost entirely to email communication.
