The Perfect Wedding DJ!

Dave Hodges was the best DJ ever! We booked Dave as our DJ for our wedding at Shining Tides in 2019. After our first phone call, we knew immediately that we wanted to have him DJ our wedding. He is professional, has years of experience, and is so relaxed and chill, we loved his vibe! My husband and I both loved working with Dave throughout the past 2+ years. When we decided to postpone in 2020, he was quick to make the rescheduling easy to do for our wedding in August 2021. Picking our songs for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing was easy with Dave's platform. I felt like after Dave took a look at our song choices he knew exactly what to play all night. Our dance floor was PACKED as soon as he announced the floor was open! Dave read the crowd and knew exactly what to play next to keep the party going. I swear I thought the dance floor was going to break. Thank you Dave for everything, the night could not have been more perfect thanks to you and we highly recommend Dave for your wedding DJ!

We are beyond grateful to have had DJ Dave Hodges from 5 Star Events as our wedding DJ! From the very first interaction, Dave was incredibly responsive, professional, and thorough—he truly went above and beyond to ensure that every musical moment of our day was seamless and meaningful.

Dave took the time to understand our vision and preferences, and his attention to detail was unmatched. From the ceremony music to cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing, everything flowed beautifully. He coordinated flawlessly with our planner and venue, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
What really stood out was how perfectly curated the music felt, from the first song to the very last dance. He read the room effortlessly and kept the energy exactly where it needed to be all night long. And to top it all off—his attire matched the ambiance of our wedding perfectly. It’s those thoughtful touches that made a huge difference and did not go unnoticed.
Our guests had an absolute blast, and we had the time of our lives. If you want someone who is professional, passionate, and an absolute joy to work with, DJ Dave is your guy. We can’t recommend him highly enough!

Amazing DJ!!!!

Dave is not only the best DJ on the Cape but he’s such a great guy and an incredible person to work with. Music was really important to us and we met with a few DJs but, after our first phone call with Dave, we knew he was the man for the job. His professionalism, enthusiasm, and expertise were clear from the start and evident all the way through the wedding and even after. A couple days after the wedding one of our family members posted on Instagram with pictures from the wedding and a song that was on our do not play list. As soon as Dave saw it, he messaged us with a funny comment about the irony of her posting pictures of the wedding with that song. We share that not only because it made us laugh but because most people would brain dump everything they know about their clients the minute the event is over, especially when you have weddings to cover the rest of the weekend, but with Dave you’re more than a client, he truly cares about making your wedding day special and goes above and beyond to make that happen. Dave was very communicative through the whole planning process, adapted to our specific music requests, matched the vibe we wanted perfectly, kept the dance floor thriving, and had answers to questions we didn’t even know to ask. When we say there’s none better than Dave, it’s not boasting or hyperbole, it’s just being honest.

Dave is the BEST

Dave was all we could have asked for and more. He was supportive throughout our planning process. His communication was top notch. He ensured that the ceremony, dinner, and dancing music was in line with our tastes. He always asked for our ideas, preferences, and thoughts, but had a knack for knowing when we could use his expertise.

Not only was Dave outstanding throughout the planning process, he brought the energy and top-level service to our wedding day. He continued to display his strong communication skills by working with the coordinator and officiant. He was also a great, calming presence on a day that can be filled with anxiety.

In the dancing portion of the evening, Dave really brought the house down. He really knows how to keep a party going. Our guests are still raving about how much fun the music was - 3 months later. I couldn't recommend Dave enough.

Fantastic experience

We could not recommend Dave more. He was an exceptional DJ for our wedding in August, so easy to work with, and made us feel completely confident and at ease throughout the process. We had so many people tell us it was the best wedding dance floor they've been at, and the music was fantastic. We couldn't be happier that we hired him, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

5 Star Events and DJ Dave are Great!

We LOVE DJ Dave! Our guests could not stop talking about how much fun our wedding was and how they had such a great time on the dancefloor. Dave made planning an absolute breeze. We really had no idea what to expect or how to plan for our music and Dave was so great as he walked us through the process. His portal makes it so easy to add songs that you definitely want to hear as well as the "do not plays." The best part about it was that he really read our crowd and played the best songs ever. We had an absolute blast!

Incredibly professional and friendly

I can’t begin to explain how great Dave Hodges was for our wedding. He was very thoughtful in his planning and collaboration with us prior to our wedding. While all weddings have last minute adjustments, he was thorough in ensuring everything would proceed as smooth as possible. Highly recommended for your wedding or event. We have found our DJ for any future events that come our way.

Best Dj ever!

We could not have been happier with the services from Dave for our Wedding!! 10 out of 10 would recommend working with Dave for your event. From start to finish, Dave was responsive, friendly, and truly listened to what we wanted to make our special day so perfect. We even had a few extremely last minute changes that Dave was super accommodating with and made our day truly special. Dave was awesome!

My fiance and I had the pleasure of working with Dave from 5 Star Events as our wedding DJ. From the minute we began working with him, he was extremely professional, responsive and helpful. Then, COVID hit and we made the difficult decision to postpone. Dave was EXTREMELY flexible and understanding. Once we let him know our new date (and new venue) he remained flexible and attentive to what we wanted. He continued to be so easy to work with and spent time with us on the phone before our wedding day, helping us with the flow of the evening and various songs for each part of the night. Once the night began, he was awesome start to finish. The dance floor was packed all night and he really knew how to work the room. It's impossible to keep track of how many guests said our wedding was a blast, in large part to the great work done by Dave! Thank Dave for being a part of our special day and for making it so memorable! We highly recommend Dave!

Incredible experience!

DJ Dave was incredible to work with. We needed to postpone our wedding 1 year due to Covid, which required a lot of work to cancel and reschedule all of our vendors for our revised wedding date. Dave was so flexible, responsive and willing to work with us through all of it. He made the experience so easy, listened to what we wanted and delivered exactly what we were looking for. Our dancefloor was packed the entire time, all due to Dave's ability to read the room, and his awesome music selection. We would recommend him to anyone looking for a great DJ in the Cape Cod area!

We can’t say enough good things about Five Star Events and, more specifically, DJ Dave Hodges. Dave worked our wedding a couple of weeks ago and was absolutely phenomenal. He worked with us to create the perfect timeline and communicated with us throughout the wedding to make sure it flowed perfectly. His platform is user-friendly and is designed to ensure that he plays all your favorite songs. The best!!

DJ Dave of 5 Star Events was the best! He was very easy to work with leading up to our wedding day; we loved the online song database and in-person consultation. Dave is great!

Dave is so professional and makes everything so easy!
My husband and I attended a wedding where Dave was the DJ, so we knew in advance how great he was.

Our ceremony was held in an outdoor venue without electricity, and Dave set up our "off the grid" ceremony with batting an eye.
Dave also set up lighting for our reception that really helped transform the space.
He does a great job of getting to know the couple, and really making the reception reflect them. Neither of us are huge dancers, and a lot of the music we like isn't really music for dancing at a wedding. Dave did a great job of getting an idea of our music taste and reading the room to play what our guests needed. We got lots of comments from our guests about how great the music was that night!

Excellent Experience

Our experience with Dave was wonderful from the very first phone call. He answered every question I had and was also very responsive to any follow up emails. The week below the wedding he even followed up with my videographer to make sure everything was set for the audio during the ceremony. Dave has a great attention to detail and is extremely professional. He followed through with all of our music requests and gave us very helpful advice throughout the planning process. Everyone had a great time dancing and he kept the party going the whole night. For the last dance song, my husband was away from the dance floor so Dave asked if there was one more song that we wanted to hear before he left . The song and the last dance ended up being one of the highlights of the evening that all the guests talked about. Our wedding was perfect and Dave was one of the reasons why.!I highly recommend Dave and 5 Star Events!

DJ Dave will be exactly what you want because he truly listens to you, understands what you’re looking for, and executes it better than you could have asked for. I did immense research on a dj for our wedding. I have been to countless weddings and the music and flow are what make or break the event. Dave was professional and energetic from the first encounter. He took notes on everything we talked about at our initial meeting. His formatting and online system is very easy to use when choosing music and explaining the days timeline. What is unique about Dave is that you don’t feel like there’s just a playlist running. However, he doesn’t interject himself either. Dave just “gets it”. He worked incredibly well with all of my vendors and keeping the flow. I had an artist sing for my ceremony/cocktail hour but he still worked with her to ensure everything was smooth. That is very important the day of. Most importantly, everyone was on the dance floor the entire evening! Dave is the reason all of our friends and family are still saying it was the most fun wedding they’ve been to. We are so grateful for making our day classy but fun!

Friendly and accommodating

I was working as a videographer at one of the weddings where Dave was the DJ. I reached out to him before the wedding to make sure that I could record an audio feed from his equipment. He got back to me right away and offered several helpful options. Then he set aside time to work with me on the wedding day, which is not something that always happens. He was friendly to me and the guests, and from what I could tell the crowd seemed to enjoy his music (which included some lesser-known songs that had special significance to the bride and groom) and his enthusiasm. He made the wedding shoot that much easier for me, so I am confident that he will bring exceptional service to whoever hires him.

Djing perfected

We had the pleasure of having Dave DJ our wedding at Wychmere in late August of this year. Dave fulfilled all of our requests to the T. The before-hand planning was so simple with the 5 Star website, and Dave brought truly professional, unique suggestions that made a big difference at the reception. The way that he was able to blend our traditional Greek dancing with the modern Dance/Pop songs that we had asked for was awesome. Our biggest compliment from guests at our wedding were the fact that the dance floor was crowded and the life of the party throughout the event. Him and I (the groom) also had a nice back and forth throughout the night; he made some changes on the fly for us and it kept the party lively. Really rang true to be the best night of our lives and Dave was a big part of that.

100% will recommend to friends & family in the area for any event.

Wedding Reception

Our experience with Greg was amazing. From start to finish, he made the whole process of planning the reception incredibly easy. He listened to our suggestions, helped to guide us when we veered off course, and he was on top of all the details. All of our guests could not stop talking about how great Greg was and how much they loved the music -- from the song selections to the order in which they were played. Music really does make all the difference, and so does Greg!

Dave was absolutely awesome at our wedding! He was great during the whole planning process and answered any questions we had. We made a special request for a 90's/early 00's montage and Dave had the whole place dancing and singing along. I'll admit I'm a bit picky about music, and we added a ton of songs we wanted to here throughout the night. We were able to specify what songs we wanted during cocktail hour, dinner, or reception and choose which songs for the montage. Dave was receptive to all of it and everyone loved the music!
We also had 5 Star provide the uplighting for the room and had them create a monogram which was shown on the floor which was also a huge hit and looks great in pics. We definitely recommend using 5 Star for your wedding or other events!

Dave Hodges was the DJ for our wedding at Wychmere on 8/4/18 and he was excellent!!! He was one of our favorite vendors and we would very highly recommend him. Leading up to the wedding, he was fantastic to work with - so relaxed, patient, and flexible. He offered great suggestions and ideas we hadn't thought about.
He listened carefully and was responsive to our needs and concerns. During the time when we were planning our wedding, we attended a friend's wedding where we felt the music and evening ended abruptly. This freaked us out so we told Dave about the experience; he assured us that was very different from what he does and talked us through his approach to wind down the evening (which he executed perfectly!!! We were so impressed with how he closed out the night - I still remember everyone on the dance floor with us and singing along to the final few songs).
Throughout our wedding, our guests were on the dance floor the entire time! Dave played a perfect mix of music to keep the crowd up and dancing and having fun. He was very in tune to the crowd and the event. He is not a flashy / obnoxious DJ, which we appreciated. His focus is on playing great music and keeping the party going!!
One small thoughtful detail (before the dancing started) that I loved - during my dad's toast, he briefly mentioned Peter, Paul, and Mary in one of the memories that he shared. Dave picked up on this and transitioned seamlessly into a PPM song as we were hugging my dad and the next course was being served.
The evening was perfect and Dave was a huge part of this as he kept the crowd up dancing and having the best time. We were so happy and would very highly recommend Dave!!

Music was of particular importance because my husband and I are ballroom dancers; so we had some MUST haves that other DJs would never address. The second I talked to Dave, he knew ballroom dancing was my concern. He reassured us and asked great clarifying questions the whole time to guarantee we would have the wedding we wanted.

Dave was also great at getting everyone to dance. Many of my family members don’t do ballroom so he did a seamless job of mixing in modern dancey music and fun 80s music like the YMCA that everyone would want. Many of my guests were commenting on how they saw their siblings getting up that they never saw dance before. His reading of the crowd was just that good!

He was also super professional throughout the whole process. He would always get back to us in a timely manner and take the initiative to check-in-with us. He even thought about what song was best for me to walk down the aisle to when I was having trouble fine tuning everything.

Finally, he runs everything past you. Some of our relatives wanted to have him hand over the mic, but he wouldn’t because it was never on the schedule. This man is truly there to do what you want and will supersede what you even imagine with his own touches. I HIGHLY recommend this company!

After an exhaustive search, we decided to go with 5 Star Events for our wedding because every reviewer before us had given them 5 stars, and our initial inquiries to them were met with professional and prompt responses. 5 Star Events definitely live up to their 5-star name. Dave was the DJ that ended up doing our wedding and reception, and he was extremely accommodating to our specific requests, and able to really help us with song choices and get an overall game plan going for the reception. We went in clueless and thanks to Dave, we really felt reassured about the set-up we had for our big day. He played songs we requested, and made sure not to play ones we put on the super helpful "Do not play" list on their website, making for a stellar playlist that was completely us, and set the mood(s) perfectly. Dave was also very accommodating to our belated request that he provide music for our outdoor wedding ceremony, which went off like a dream! The guys at 5 Star Events are so incredibly nice, easy to approach, and definitely work with you to make your day one of a kind. So glad all of those 5-star responses led us to 5 Star Events. Highly recommended!

5 Star Events and particularly DJ Dave are INCREDIBLE. Do yourself (and your wedding guests) a favor and HIRE THESE GUYS NOW.

I'll be honest, when we looked at the website and the list of most-requested songs, we were a little worried, BUT this was a prime example of not trusting a book by it's...er...website. Please, DO NOT be dissuaded by the somewhat sketchy website or the dated pictures on this site!!!

DJ Dave totally got the vibe we were going for. We told him we did not want any of the standard wedding stuff -- no Electric Slide, Dancing in September, Celebrate, etc. -- and he totally stuck to that. We also told him we didn't want any songs that were particularly explicit or gross, and he said he wouldn't play that sort of stuff anyway (phew!). We told him a few of our "must play" songs, and he quickly suggested several others that we were like "oh, yeah, we totally love that song." He seamlessly transitioned over the course of the evening from perfect dancing music to 90s classics, which were perfect for belting along to at that point in the evening. Our reception went from 7:30 to 1 am, and he kept the crowd rocking the whole time (to the point where my husband's cousins started cheering for an encore at the end!).

Leading up to the event, he was responsive, attentive and flexible. He made time to chat with us late at night and on the weekends. My husband and I work long hours during the week, so this was extremely appreciated. And every time we spoke, Dave quickly "got" what we were saying and made suggestions to make our event even better.

AND he was able to navigate sharing time with a band the night of...AND none of the band members spoke a lick of English. AMAZING.

Four words of advice: HIRE THESE GUYS NOW.

Dave Hodges at 5 Star Events was HANDS DOWN the best vendor we worked with throughout the entire wedding planning process. From the very beginning, he was responsive and available, and the website is super user friendly for choosing songs, scheduling speeches, listing special dances, everything. He completely understood the vibe we were going for, and he had every guest from age 18 to age 75 tearing up the dance floor all night. He did an especially amazing job of integrating our "must plays" with his own picks, which we encouraged him do as he got a sense of the crowd. The dancing music was the best, and the music earlier in the night was at a perfect background level of noise for dinner and cocktail hour - no one had trouble hearing each other. Anyways, it was perfect. We will always use 5 Star Events in the future.

One of my bridesmaids actually said "I was afraid to go to the bathroom or I'd lose my spot on the dance floor!!" Greg with 5 Star Events absolutely rocked our wedding. We unfortunately neglected our music until the very last minute but with a few key details Greg pulled it all together and our music was perfect! Our guests cannot stop talking about how much fun they had dancing and we didn't leave the dance floor the entire time! We cannot thank Greg enough, he didn't even complain about the hurricane!! I highly recommend Dave Hodges at 5 Star Events! Dave was friendly and easy to work with. We met in person before signing the contract, which was a great way to get to know each other. Their website was easy to use to pick out our songs and document our timeline. Dave had great recommendations during the planning process and accommodated the different tastes in music that my husband and I had as well as our guests. The whole night flowed smoothly and our guests had a great time dancing! I also wanted to mention that Dave even went out of his way to edit a song my brother wanted to use to propose to his girlfriend. 5 Star Events deserves that name......Dave was definitely 5 Star. Always so friendly and professional each time we talked on the phone or emailed each other. He responds right away and offers suggestions to the many questions you may have about the flow of the evening. You can tell he takes pride in his job and will do anything for you to make sure you have a fun filled evening. Greg truly runs a 5 star event. Greg was not only the most responsive vendor we worked with, he is so professional and courteous. His sound equipment is excellent and everything sounded perfect. 5 Star Events also provided uplighting for us and was the most reasonably priced we could find. Greg is not an MC getting on the mic constantly, he makes the day all about you with great music. He has a very extensive music database, which I have noticed from friends' weddings that not every DJ has as up to date music as Greg has. Anytime my husband or I put in a music request, it was always the next to be played or he'd even fade out the current song he was playing. The dance floor was packed all night and everyone had such a blast! My friend who is in a band that plays weddings was even raving about Greg's style and equipment. We could not be happier and will definitely use him again if we have any other events. I highly recommend that you book this DJ!

Dave was so awesome to work with! He was truly a professional, had great advice, was easy to work with, and kept EVERYONE on the dance floor. We hired Greg for our wedding a year and a half ahead of time, and after our event last Friday, I can pat our past selves on the back for the decision. Greg was very responsive from our first email onward and made sure we had everything we needed. We never thought of us or our friends as dancers but because of Greg we cut up the dance floor for hours and were so glad we could. Add in his very reasonable rates and you got yourself your DJ.

DJ Greg is the absolute best! From the moment we connected, he was professional and knowledgeable. With so many moving pieces in coordinating a wedding, it was wonderful having a DJ that was so proactive, organized, and enthusiastic. We really didn't have to worry about a thing. On the day of, he certainly delivered too. He took our music preferences and had the perfect soundtrack through dinner and dancing. Afterwards, the only thing we could have wished for to make our night better was a bigger dance floor, as he had it packed with ALL of our guests for the entire night.

Of all our wonderful vendors, Dave was the one in whom we had the most confidence. From our first conversation with him, his responsiveness, attention to detail, and professionalism were clear, as were his love of music and his DJ gear. Throughout our planning, he promptly answered questions, clearly communicated what he needed from us, and was simply a really nice guy. On our wedding day, he was prepared, organized, and accommodating, and everything went perfectly. Dave seamlessly facilitated transitions between to the ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and dancing locations as well as the toasts. My dad told us that Dave wanted to make sure everything was set up exactly as my dad wanted it for his speech, and that meant so much to my dad. Greg Hodges did a fantastic job providing the music at our ceremony and dj-ing our reception. My husband is a self proclaimed music snob (he had been making a "must play" and "do not play" list since before we even got engaged). So I put him in charge of finding a DJ. He contacted a lot of potential DJs, and complained that he just wanted to find someone normal and laid back, who would keep the dance floor packed. And once he talked to Greg, he knew he had found that. Greg worked with him to make sure all the must plays were there, and gave him feedback on how to make sure the dance floor stayed crowded throughout the night. Which it did! Everyone was dancing and having a great time throughout the reception. Greg was great, professional, and easy to work with throughout. Greg also has great and easy to use equipment especially wireless mics and speakers for the ceremony so everybody can hear everything. We loved Greg because of the quality of his work but also that he was just a regular guy with none of that used car salesman feel that you can get from other DJs. We would highly recommend him!

We love Dave! I hired Dave the day I met him. My fiancé was unable to attend our first meeting with Dave, but he was more than happy to talk with my mom and I. We were hooked! Once my fiancé talked with Dave on the phone, he knew we had made a fantastic decision! On our wedding day, Dave ran the show. We booked 5 Star Events for our wedding this past May and couldn't have made a better choice. From their help with on-the-fly decisions the day of the wedding to their ability to read the crowd and keep the energy flowing on the dance floor, they were superb. We didn't have a playlist or really any songs picked out for our reception other than the "formal" songs (father-daughter dance, etc) and left it up to the DJ to play music within some broad limitations and they delivered, far exceeding our expectations. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fun and professional DJ.

Early in the wedding planning process, I was assigned the role of selecting the DJ for our special day. Since this was literally my only responsibility prior showing up, there was a lot of pressure to select the right person for the job.

Like most others, I started the search by reading reviews on sites like this. 5-Star Events continued to show up with rave reviews. Assuming that these reviewers were biased, we decided to "meet" Greg through a skype interview. The first thing that stood out was how Greg was more interested in learning about us as a couple, rather than bragging about his accomplishments. After that conversation we knew he was the man for the job.

On the big day, Greg was early, professional, and a genuine pleasure to work with. The only complaints we heard was that he played too many good songs which prevented our guests from using the restroom during the reception. The uplighting he provided made the dinner and dancing look beautiful, and his website was easy to use. Even when we requested a remix of a remix for our entrance music, Greg bent over backwards to accommodate.

I cannot say enough about how great Greg was to work with. He kept the dance floor packed the entire night, was flexible when we had weird requests, and just a genuinely nice person. 10/10 would recommend 5-Star Events to anyone looking to have a fun celebration!

We absolutely loved Dave!!! He was amazing right from the beginning. We knew from our first meeting a year ago that he would be able to provide us with exactly what we were looking for. He was always available by email and responded promptly. Everything went off with out a hitch from before the ceremony, during the ceremony, during cocktail hour and then leading into the reception; Dave played everything on our must play list and added in some great tunes that continued with the vibe we were looking for. The only sad part was when the night had to end, we could've danced for hours!! Anyone would be lucky to have him as their DJ!!

Greg was amazing! Our wedding music from our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, special requests, introduction and into the night for dancing was perfection. The software 5 Star Events provides is 100% user friendly, fun, and super organized. Communication with Greg was efficient and easy, his responses were quick and he always had great suggestions. I gave up a lot of my control due to trusting his work, he truly loves what he does and it shows! We also rented the black and white dance floor - which was SO worth it, it added elegance and romance. We married on a historical site and there was no problem with the floors easy install. We had a great experience with 5 Star Events from start to finish. Couldn’t have asked for a more friendly, professional, and easy-going vendor to work with.

I was initially a little bit worried about our wedding music because I tend to really dislike some classic dance/party music like Love Shack, YMCA, etc. But Dave talked to us multiple times before our wedding to ensure he had a very good idea of our personalities and music tastes. The client interface was really easy to use. There were three lists that we were encouraged to use: must play, maybe play, and do not play. This helped Greg to get an even better idea of our music preference.

In all, the music and the MCing went great! I had multiple guests come up to me both during and after the wedding to tell me how great the music was. Our dance floor was packed from the first song to the last. Also elected to add their uplighting services which added just enough sparkle to our venue. Can’t recommend 5 Star Events, and Dave Hodges, enough.

We are so glad that we chose 5 Star Events for our wedding reception! Dave Hodges was the DJ for our event and he is awesome. Dave is an experienced DJ who really knows how to get people on the dance floor. Dave is very easy to get in touch with and he was so accommodating, from our first meeting where he got to know us and our musical tastes, to agreeing to meet with us a few days before the wedding to go over the final details. We were really impressed by Dave's knowledge, easy-going nature, and professionalism. We decided to go with the lighting package and we are glad we did because the lights really enhanced the atmosphere of the room. Greg was the DJ at our wedding and we could not have been more happy. We have raved about him to anyone who will listen. Greg was always so friendly, and extremely quick to respond to all my emails. We hired Greg Hodges of Five Star Events and could not have picked a better DJ! Before even meeting him, I was impressed with the honesty and clarity he conveyed on his website, and was not disappointed during our consultation. Greg is so personable, and knows the business inside and out. I was very overwhelmed with all of the detail involved in wedding planning, but he jumped right in with suggestions for different music selections, advice about different things such as the introductions and centerpiece distributions, and patiently dealt with any questions and delays. He coordinated with our venue, and everything went off without a hitch on the day of the wedding. We had a diverse guest list, age-wise, and Greg played such a great variety of music, everyone was happy. The dance floor had a ton of activity, and he was happy to play requests. Greg was by far the PERFECT DJ for us. He was the first DJ we met in person, and we knew we needed to look no further. He was incredibly flexible to arrange meeting times and locations, and he was our most responsive vendor throughout the planning process. We had a multi-cultural wedding requiring a unique mix of music, and Greg didn't even flinch at our request. We merely provided him with a list of our preferred foreign songs, and he had them downloaded and ready to review in detail at our next meeting. We used his online planning tool to create lists of must play songs and indicate special requests for introductions, first dances, fading pieces, etc. Greg executed everything we requested to a T on the night of our wedding, and our dance floor was PACKED all night. His dance lights made for some great party pictures, and everyone commented on what a great job he did. Our parents were pleased with what an excellent, humble host he was and how in-tune he was to the mood of the crowd.

At the end of the night, he played the last song, only to still have all of our remaining guests on the dance floor begin chanting "ONE MORE, ONE MORE!" He immediately cued another great dance song, sending everyone out on a high note.

Greg Hodges was an excellent choice to DJ our wedding. He was friendly, flexible, and helpful during the planning process, and provided some great suggestions for the event flow. We didn't get married at a cookie-cutter reception hall so he had great ideas about how to take advantage of the different spaces at our venue, ways to help people move from one room to another, how to build the timeline to get more dancing time, etc. He also worked seamlessly with our other vendors, including the photographer, videographer, and caterer. I didn't worry about anything the night of my wedding except having a good time and that's because of the great vendor team, especially Greg. I recommend him without hesitation.

I don't think there is anyone more qualified and yet so affordable in the area. Dave was AMAZING! We felt like we were meeting with a friend every time we had vendor meetings with him. He was very accomodating in terms of finding a time/place to meet (and our work schedules are a disaster so that is saying something). He made the pre planning process very easy for us- I found the client form that we were supposed to fill out online to be slightly overwhelming and he took that out of the equation for me. Not only that but we had very specific song choices for our wedding entrances (aka: start this song at the :38 second mark) and we had a solid 10-12 requests like this he flawlessly played each entrance song- which ended up being a major point of entertainment for our guests so we were thrilled with this. Dave listened to each request and we didn't give him all that much direction in terms of cocktail hour/dance music- we sort of told him our vibe and let him run with it. He nailed it. Our dance floor was packed from start to finish. We couldn't be more thrilled with him and would absolutely recommend his services to anyone looking for a chill DJ who can keep your party rocking from start to finish. Thanks Dave!

DAVE WAS AWESOME!!! He met with us early on in the process and listened to our preferences and music tastes. He told us about the planning website and even guided us through some parts of the planning process (when to do certain things at the reception, for example). He was an absolute delight to work with, so easy to relate to and won our confidence immediately. During the reception, I didn't sit down once!! The music was incredible- I heard everything I loved and danced the night away. He took requests that fit in with our vision of the night and checked in with me about the ones that didn't quite make sense. He read the crowd and played what worked. He was just perfect- I can't recommend him enough! Such a great guy and a really talented DJ!!

My husband and I got married in October and we couldn't have asked for a better DJ for our wedding! The music was great and people were dancing all night long! Still today, people are talking about how fun our wedding was and how great the music was. I also used 5 Star for my wedding ceremony music and it was perfect! We worked with Dave for our ceremony and reception music. He was absolutely terrific! Throughout the planning process, he was responsive and helpful in terms of guiding our song elections and planning the details of the reception (e.g., when to do the toasts). When I inquired about a particular version of a song that I wanted to use for my processional, Dave said he didn't have it - and then immediately bought it before I had a chance to ask if he would do so. On the day of, he did a great job. There were moments when we had so many people dancing - from guests in their teens to their seventies - that we couldn't fit everyone on the dance floor. I would recommend Dave without any reservations!

Greg was the DJ for our May 9, 2015 wedding. He came highly recommended by a friend. We had planned to meet with a few DJs but after our initial meeting we knew we wanted Greg. He was very responsive to our every question/email. He was easy and fun to work with and very flexible. He really got a sense of what we had in mind for the wedding, and made helpful suggestions where needed. We had some unique ideas about things we wanted to do in our reception and to end the night, and Greg was as excited about them as we were. He has state of the art technology and a great tool to make music selections online--which we had a great time doing! Greg is a very seasoned professional and it definitely shows. We really appreciated how well he organized things with us and our other vendors and made sure the timeline was perfect. But most importantly, there was never a moment that the dance floor wasn't packed! Our guests had a blast dancing the night away! Thank you Greg!

We worked with Dave from 5star for our wedding and were thrilled with the music and service. Dave got to know us and what we were looking for in terms of music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception and delivered exactly what we wanted. As a couple who takes their music very seriously, Dave earned our confidence immediately. Dave was professional and easy going and a pleasure to work with. We knew that we did not have to worry about anything with him running the show! At the groom’s request, he even created a special mash-up of a song that came out perfectly and made for a unique mother-son dance. We feel so fortunate to have had Greg as our DJ! Right from the start, he was professional and reliable. He answered emails promptly and was very willing to meet in person to discuss details. His passion for music, technology and sound was apparent right off the bat. His enthusiasm was magnetic and he gained our trust immediately. He offered great suggestions regarding song selections, timeline of events, etc. His online music database and planning forms are amazing tools that will take all your stress away! In regards to his performance on our wedding day…Greg was phenomenal!! To start, his timing was spot on. He was an excellent MC for the introductions and announcements throughout the night. And as far as the music, he killed it! He kept the dance floor PACKED all night!! Our guests ranged from ages 10-80 and each and every person was up and dancing. Thanks to Greg, we continue to get rave reviews from guests about the awesome music and great time they had. Believe me when I say, Greg is worth every penny!! We LOVED Dave. When we were looking for a DJ for our wedding we knew we needed someone flexible with their music, since I'm latin and my husband is american, we wanted the music to reflect both our cultures. 5 stars events allows you to pick any songs you want and if they don't have them they'll buy them so it can be play at your wedding, with no extra charge, which was very good for us since many of the songs were not in their list.

Our wedding was during the day so it makes it harder for people to dance (not drunk enough to stop being shy?), but Dave made sure people were always on the dance floor. He also helped to have very smooth changes between the different things happening during the day and was always communicating with us to make sure everything was the way we wanted and giving us his advice on how some things should go.

He played every song we wanted and when it was not our pick it was still an amazing choice. Everyone enjoyed themselves, from the flower girl to grandma, and both cultures intermingled just fine and had fun together.

We cannot express enough what a wonderful job Dave did as the DJ at our wedding! From the very start of the planning process, he was responsive and helpful in insuring that our wedding went exactly as we wanted. He made sure to play exactly the types of music that we desired and to avoid the things we asked him not to play. Our dance floor was full all night thanks to Dave's perceptive DJ skills. He also provided the uplighting for our reception and did a great job transitioning from dinner to dancing. He was always professional and made sure that the night was all about us - not him. He did an excellent job MC-ing and stuck to the plan we came up with together prior to the event. The price was very reasonable and definitely worth every penny!!

Greg Hodges is my hero! Upon our first phone meeting, I knew he would be wonderful to work with on my Jewish wedding with Argentine tango, showtunes, French music, jazz and musical theatre, and Michael Jackson needs. As music is so important in my life, I had many specific requests. Everyone LOVED the music from the ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception. Besides having an extensive library of music, Greg and I shared music files via Dropbox for ceremony Jewish songs, tangos, etc. He was a delight to meet in person, and his online system of requests/organization was easy to use. When my computer became sick, he was a saint in tracking down songs that did not properly save on the website. I was able to add special notes such as dedications, or to specify the song for my cake cutting, walking down the isle, etc. Greg is extremely warm, personable, and truly listened to my requests (there were many!). I recommend Greg with heartfelt gratitude for the bride who wants a lot of in put to the bride that wants the DJ to have plenty of creative freedom.

Greg, owner of 5 Star Events, is THE BEST DJ and lighting expert! He did the lighting and DJing for our outdoor wedding in Boston under the New England Aquarium's harbor-side tent. Greg's timing, reliability, taste, and professionalism is phenomenal. If he's available, book him immediately!

First, Greg's DJing: Classy, well-timed, and thoroughly enjoyable. He kept an eye on the clock and worked as a partner to help my husband and I keep things moving for our guests. He timed all of our special dance songs perfectly. His equipment was the best so that everyone could clearly hear all of the touching speeches. People who NEVER dance were up on the dance floor all night having a blast. The music was the perfect volume and the pace was great. As my dad always says, a bad DJ can ruin an entire wedding. Go with Greg and you can relax knowing you've got a passionate expert doing his absolute best to make your wedding perfect.

Now about Greg's lighting: Enchanting, visionary, and flawless. Greg's creative lighting set-up made our reception space stunning! Our wedding theme was "underwater" since we were at the Aquarium. He totally understood what we were going for. He took a drab, stark, and oversized tent and turned it into a magical under-the-sea experience! He used shifting uplights to give the impression of shimmering water. The colored lanterns he hung were a perfect mix of blues and looked enchanting floating over our heads. It's quite a challenge for vendors to match the vision that brides have in their heads. Greg's lighting absolutely EXCEEDED my expectations. All of my memories of our reception are glamoured by his exceptional work.

I just can't say enough about how satisfied we all are with Greg. He was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish! Invest in Greg because his work will brighten the memories of your wedding for years to come.

We loved DJ Dave! He was the perfect DJ for our backyard wedding, playing all the songs we requested off our shared Spotify playlists and adding his own flair. We received great compliments from our guests afterwards, the best one being "We liked him. He didn't talk the whole time". Dave just kept the party going with the right beats at the right time.

Greg was a dream come true, Planning the music for your wedding can be tricky, where do you start ? But he was a god send! The online client dashboard was so easy and helpful ! You can add songs you need to hear, and don't want to hear ! It is a helpful tool to help you put down all the needed information for you and your DJ. When planning our wedding music , I had about 75 % picked out but was still having a hard time with some of it. After speaking to Greg he completely put me at ease, he made incredible suggestions and even came up with a mash up of songs for my father/daughter dance. He also sent me several suggestions on ceremony music, apps to look at on my Iphone and websites with lists of cake cutting songs, recessional and processional songs. Everything went so smooth and effortless, our venue was a bit different where we got married in one area, then had him move to a different area for cocktail area, again for dinner and once more for the dancing / cake cutting. He moved quickly and kept the party going ! He is the only person I would recommend to do your special day !

To start I cannot thank Dave enough for an absolutely phenomenal job not only providing the music and MC'ing for our wedding but truly supporting us throughout the whole process. 5 Star Events, and specifically Dave Hodges provided the music for our August 15th wedding and every element was flawless. My husband and I knew in the end one of our main goals of the wedding was we wanted every guest to have a great time, and boy did they! We had a packed dance floor, and every guest felt comfortable coming up to dance because of the great flow of music Dave made sure we had. My now father in law had such a great time, and danced so much, his knees are still recovering! Dave is incredibly personable and willing to help out with anything or answer any question from the moment you meet him till beyond your wedding. We used 5 Star Events to provide the music for our wedding on Saturday, August 9, 2014. From the first day I met David to the last song played, he was a complete professional. He and his brother were all ways available to answer a question or to run a suggestion by. Their website was super easy to use and their database is impressive. We had several special requests for songs and David never failed to find exactly what we were looking for. We even had a last minute request the morning of our wedding and David found the song and it was used during our ceremony. Once the music started the dance floor was hopping. There was never a lull in the dancing. The music was spot on and everyone said how much fun they had and the music was the best. They also provided uplighting for the reception area. It was the perfect touch to make the room come to life. If I ever have another event that calls for a DJ, I will not hesitate to call 5 Star Events.

What can I say about DJ Greg that hasn't been said in 100+ 5 star reviews already? If I could give him 6 stars I would....we were planning our Boston wedding from Chicago and Greg did everything he could to make the process as easy as possible. After only a few phone calls he seemed to know exactly what we wanted and delivered every time. From taking small cuts of different songs and streamlining them perfectly for our introduction to just keeping the dance floor packed all night, DJ Greg was perfect. He also provided the uplighting and made the room look amazing, changing the colors as the night, and party, grew crazier! I can't even count how many of our guests said he was the best DJ they'd ever seen and how amazing the room looked. 6 stars for DJ Greg!

The most important thing to me at my wedding was music, and Greg delivered! The dance floor was packed before dinner was ever served! He kept the dance floor packed all night long! Greg was very professional through the entire planning process and he was always willing to assist with anything. I found his online catalogue of music to be a great tool in the planning process.

Greg is not a flashy DJ, he only spoke during the introductions. If you want flashy this isn't the right fit for you, but if you want a dance party, this is your DJ!

My only criticisms would be a lack of slow songs (I wanted at least a few through the night) and he forgot to do the anniversary song that we had planned for. I remembered too late in the night to bring this to his attention. Even with these things I would still hire him in a heart beat! We have heard from so many people that our wedding was the best they have ever been to and that is certainly in large part to Greg!

DJ Greg Hodges is AMAZING!! One of our friends used him as their DJ first and then we booked him because there wedding was so much fun.

We met with Greg before our wedding and we told him that our goal was to have everyone up and on the dance floor and Greg made sure that he kept the party going! When we met with him in advance we told him how we loved the new MKTO "Classic" song...and he remembered opening up the dance floor with that song.

Greg also provided all of the sound equipment and support for our vows as we got married outside. He worked with our JP to get him wired up for the ceremony and he kept everything on beat and on track. We had a beautiful day and thanks to Greg we had a fun party (no one was ready to leave the dance floor when our time at the venue was up!) We definitely recommend Greg Hodges!!!

Greg was such a talented and amazing DJ! It's 6 months later and our guests are still talking about how great he was and how much fun they had! He has this uncanny ability to read a crowd and keep the dance floor packed with guests all night, young and old. Seriously, we danced ALL night! That's pretty impressive with the mixed crowd we had of young 20 something's mid thirties and fifties-and-up! My husband and I are huge DMB fans and he incorporated many songs throughout the night in a tasteful way to make the night truly about us. We had the time of our lives and are so thankful for the great atmosphere that Greg provided. He even custom made a name logo that was illuminated on the dance floor all night! I don't think there was a single point in the night where the dance was not packed. You can truly tell that Greg has a passion for what for what he does and excels at it!!

I also can not thank him enough for "remixing" a few songs for my Dad and I for our surprise Father/Daughter dance. It is by far one of my favorite memories from our wedding!!

My family is insane. Truly. And Dave kept us up and dancing the whole night! He was so easy to work with, answered A LOT of questions from me (and I mean A LOT) regarding some special surprises we wanted to do for the day. My father and I, for our first dance, actually ended up singing a duet - and Dave was so helpful with the planning process! Also, he kept the reception flowing smoothly (NOT an easy task with us) and stayed mostly in the background orchestrating all of the moves. He's such a great guy, charming, professional, and kept the music mix of what we had wanted plus those he knew would be a hit!

Greg was awesome! We had a daytime wedding and had been told by many friends not to expect anyone to dance because of the time of day. Greg artfully chose music that seemed to get nearly everyone at the wedding up and dancing at some point in time... Greg knew exactly what to play and when, he kept EVERYONE on the dance floor the entire night, which was my goal....When we worried about the "planning" of the wedding music/setup...etc, he took hold of the reins and told us to let him worry about all of that stuff as this was a day for us to enjoy. Thats just what we did, and it turned out to be one of the greatest nights of my life and my guests life...they all had a great time and are still talking about it (the wedding itself and the lights and the music!)

Not only was Greg our DJ he was also our "lights guy" which totally made the room that night, it was absolutely gorgeous!!! He spent time suggesting different lights to us that would make the room "pop" (whcih it did; we had uplighting and stars put on the ceiling).

He is very talented and creative...I would highly recommend Greg/5 Star Events! I cannot say enough nice things about Greg and the job he did - My new husband and I are very happy with 5 Star events!

What do I have to say about Dave that hasn't been said before, both about him and his brother? They were awesome! We chose them based on all of the five star reviews and we were not disappointed. From our first meeting, Dave was attentive, easy to get in touch with, he had great suggestions and was totally flexible. On the big day, he kept the dance floor packed all night. Everyone from our six year old flower girls to 65 year old men were getting down. We both had a blast dancing, and you just have to look at pictures of our guests to know that they did as well! Thank you guys!

We interviewed multiple DJs and were immediately struck by Greg's experience and professionalism. We made it clear that our No. 1 priority from the DJ was having a packed dance floor, and that we would be relying on him to accomplish that. My wife and I have divergent musical tastes, and neither of us would be very good at creating a playlist that would keep a mixed group at a wedding on the dance floor. We gave Greg a handful of "must plays" but then said the rest was up to him, and he came through. By the end of the night, when the lights came on, the floor was still packed, as it had been all night.

Greg also played cocktail hour music and light music during dinner, and coordinated our bride & groom entrance as well as five (yes, five) speeches/toasts.

Greg went with the flow as my wife and I disappeared for a while inside the aquarium to check out the penguins during the time we had scheduled for our first dance; he simply got the party started and then we did our first dance once we came back out.

And later, when unexpected fireworks began going off over the harbor, right in front of our tent on the boardwalk (emptying the dance floor as everyone rushed out to see), Greg again went with the flow, quickly putting on Katy Perry's "Firework."

As a bonus, Greg made audio files of all the speeches and as a favor gave them to me.

Greg Hodges knows what he's doing and will make sure your day is awesome. The first time he met with us he helped us organize what we had left to do for the wedding, sent us a day of schedule, and contacted the venue and photographer himself. He went above and beyond to help us out!

Wow- cannot say enough wonderful things about Greg. From the moment we met with him, my husband and I decided not to meet with other potential DJs because we knew we wanted to use Greg based off our first impression.
We found Greg to be very responsive and extremely professional. He guided us through what we needed to decide on for our wedding-- everything is laid out on an extremely user-friendly website. We were so confident in Greg's skills and his ability to read the crowd that we allowed him to take charge and make changes if necessary, with a moderate list of must-have songs.
On our wedding night, he was phenomenal. He got people dancing even during courses. I had given him a timeline of events during the night (cake cutting, parent dances, etc) and he stuck to it to a T.
My husband and I had the time our lives dancing the night away with our friends and family-- literally all of our guests were dancing the entire night.
Since our wedding, everyone has been buzzing about Greg-- saying he was the best DJ-- and my husband and I 100% agree. We're recommending him to all of our friends and family!! THANK YOU GREG!

Dave is the BEST DJ you could hire for your wedding!!! He provided music for our reception, cocktail hour, dinner and reception AND kept all of the events running smoothly. Every song he played was PERFECT and everyone danced all night long-- even my 85 year old grandmother! Dave's attention to detail and professionalism is exceptional.
