Seriously amazing experience all around
Firstly.. Dan, the event coordinator, is absolutely the best. He's really responsive, he's honest, and super helpful. Second, their food.. oh my gosh. So I love their food already eating at their restaurant side, but man I received compliments non-stop about how much they loved it. Third, the space! We booked the big guy in the back with the private porch... and it was comfortable, large, and easy to decorate. Fourth, the staff! I had such an amazing experience with the staff that were working there during our night. All of them were friendly, helpful, and there if ever I needed them.
So absolutely no regrets. Worth the money spent!Firstly.. Dan, the event coordinator, is absolutely the best. He's really responsive, he's honest, and super helpful. Second, their food.. oh my gosh. Perfect non traditional wedding venue!
We wanted to do something that was different than most wedding venues and when I first saw that two penguins did weddings and private parties I jumped on it. Everything went so smooth and the food was great. Awesome venue!
We had the most wonderful wedding here on 9/10! It was the perfect blend of a few classic traditions and a laid back space that all of our guests raved about. Dan was great to work with from the start, and helped day-of to make sure our event ran smoothly. He and all the awesome staff nailed the small details and great service. We chose one of the cocktail style menus and the food was delicious, plus all of the Colorado beers and spirits were a hit with guests. If you're looking for a versatile and really reasonably priced venue, I would highly recommend choosing 2 Penguins. We had the most wonderful wedding here on 9/10! Disappointing Venue
My husband and I got married at 2 Penguins Tap & Grill at the end of September and overall it was a great day because I got to marry my best friend but I was disappointed in the venue. We had been working with one of the event managers (who did an amazing job), he wasn't able to be there on our wedding day and there were loads of miscommunication either between him, my husband, and I or between him and the rest of the 2 Penguins staff. We decided not to get a DJ so he offered access to their AV system (which we paid for) but on the day the manger on site wouldn't let us use...My husband and I got married at 2 Penguins Tap & Grill at the end of September and overall it was a great day because I got to marry my best friend but I was disappointed in the venue. We had been working with one of the event managers (who did an amazing job), he wasn't able to be there on our wedding day and there were loads of miscommunication either between him, my husband, and I or between him and the rest of the 2 Penguins staff. We decided not to get a DJ so he offered access to their AV system (which we paid for) but on the day the manger on site wouldn't let us use it outside so I didn't have anything to walk down the aisle to except a tiny Bluetooth speaker. As my husband was trying to get everything situated with that there were snide comments made by the manager that "most people hire their own DJ" but we thought based on our discussions planning the event that the AV system would still cover both inside and outside audio. I also asked before the event if someone could help us setup the AV, which they assured me they would, but no body helped and it fell on my husband and family.
There was also a lot of drama about how I could down the aisle. We booked the back room/patio area and while we were planning the event, the event coordinator helped us figure out where the aisle would be but we weren't told that there is only one way into that back room (which was the same way as everyone else). My husband and I decided not to do before pictures so I was surprised when they were trying to get walk around in front of my husband and all of the guests before I walk down the aisle (thankfully, after discussion with the manager on duty and the owner they let me walk through the kitchen). I understand this is likely as much on myself for not asking the right questions, but I honestly didn't think I needed to ask if there was a way to get to the aisle without being seen -- I would have thought at least one of the other weddings they've hosted would have had a similar setup.
Throughout setup, the ceremony, and the reception there were a lot of snide comments and my husband was treated terribly before they found out he was the groom.
The icing on the cake (pun intended) was that as we were paying for our bill the manager on duty purposely mislead my husband that the mandatory 21% gratuity that gets added automatically doesn't actually include tips to the staff and is just their hourly rate (both him and I thought they were getting paid waiting wages). Halfway through our honeymoon the event coordinator called to make sure the extra tip we paid on our wedding wasn't an accident and I explained our understanding and he told us that they get paid a comparable wage and don't expect tips like waiting staff (thankfully the event coordinator reversed that charge for us).
Overall the venue was one of the more affordable options we could find and everything worked out but if I had a do-over, I wouldn't have chosen 2 Penguins. If you're interested in getting married at 2 Penguins I'd make sure to ask a lot more questions, get a lot in writing, and would suggest asking if the event coordinator could be there on the day of. I imagine most of our issues were miscommunication but it was still disappointing. -

Beware!
We spent 2 long years planning our perfect wedding. During this time we were corresponding with Dan who was taking care of all of our needs. The venue was GORGEOUS, the food was great, and everything was going well... until it wasn't. Dan was very rude the entire time we were setting up and throughout the night. We unfortunately had a member of our party sneaking in outside beer and Dan went up to me THE BRIDE and screamed in my face saying "if I see this shit again I will shut you down." I had no idea what he was talking about at first and went to our guests and told them not to do it anymore. It...We spent 2 long years planning our perfect wedding. We unfortunately had a member of our party sneaking in outside beer and Dan went up to me THE BRIDE and screamed in my face saying "if I see this shit again I will shut you down." I had no idea what he was talking about at first and went to our guests and told them not to do it anymore. It was very unprofessional and should have been handled much differently than it was. We had an agreement with him that our event would run until midnight instead of the usual 10 o'clock and would just pay extra for the two hours. Dan was hesitant to do this from the get go and come 9 o'clock Dan was looking for any reason to kick us out. He found some empty shooter bottles in the trash that were taken in the limo prior to our arrival. To not be rude to the limo driver we cleared the trash and threw them away at the venue. But because he found more "outside liquor" Dan got into my face and yelled at me saying "I'm fucking sick of this shit and I'm shutting you down. We could lose our liquor license and 75 people would be out of a job!"
First and for most the issue should not have been addressed with the bride to begin with. Second the way he screamed and cursed was very unprofessional and he got into my face and no one else's because I am smaller female. Finally, the irony in him saying they could lose their license is that they were serving minors all night and never once asked to see anyone's ID. A perfect night was ruined because Dan decided he didn't want to stay late and found any reason he could to shut it down. The icing on the cake was Dan stilled tried charging us for the extra two hours.
If things had been handled differently this would not have been such an issue. I cannot begin to tell you how heart broken I was that everything was escalated so quickly and that Dan was so unprofessional. So unless you want your wedding night to end with a sobbing bride and screaming parents I would heavily suggest looking elsewhere. -
