We hired 196 events after seeing the reviews online and then seeing them at a bridal show. It was 1000% the right decision! We couldn't be happier with how our wedding turned out, everyone loved the photo booth and getting everyone on the dance floor was important to me. They made it happen. You will also not find better/easier people to work with Devail and Nikki answered all my questions and the app used makes everything seamless. If you want the fun to never end, you will not go wrong with 196 Events. -

196 was amazing for our cocktail hour and wedding reception. They kept the party going all night and played songs that fit the vibe. Their attention to detail added a unique touch to our special day. Their recommendations were spot on and turned an amazing event into ann even better experience. I was on the dance floor all night, as it should be on your wedding day. The Photo Booth was a hit! So many people loved the ability to take home their prints and print as many copies as they needed. The lighting and setting of the dj were great and the ability to understand the crowd and see where the vibe was going allowed for smooth transitions and a flawless experience. I would recommend them again for another event where I need a dj. -

My husband and I got engaged in 2023 and we wanted a laid back, relaxed wedding that was relatively stress free. We picked a venue that handled most of the things (catering, most of the decorations, etc) but we were getting a little stressed about picking vendors. Luckily, the venue had 196 Events on their preferred vendor list. We had a consultation with them and from the second we started talking, we knew they were the DJ/MC for us.
From their fantastic planning app to the consistent communication, they made planning our reception a breeze! We were able to plan out all the music for the night (and the songs we didn't want played), so when the reception day came, my husband and I only had to worry about showing up.
During the reception, they were able to pick out songs that matched the vibes smoothly and get the crowd going when introducing everyone. Also, I may be biased but I don't think I've ever seen so many people dance at a wedding before. We also got the photo booth option they offer and that was a big hit with the guests as well.
They were also extremely flexible. We decided to cut the cake earlier than we originally planned and end the reception a little early bc of extenuating circumstances. At first, I felt very guilty and nervous that it would be an issue but they were able to make the change in an instant and seem like it was part of the original plan all along.
I would get married to my husband a billion times just to have 196 Events DJ/MC our event again and couldn't recommend them enough!! -

196 Events was awesome to work with, and we would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for DJ services! They were extremely communicative and responded to every random question we had very promptly. I don’t think there were any issues all night with the microphones or music–everyone was audible and the music was great! I was very particular about what songs I wanted to have playing everywhere other than the dancing part of the reception, and they were able to play the songs I wanted and then find fun songs to encourage dancing during the reception! The website/app they use to help plan out the wedding timeline and associated music/mic needs was super easy to use and made it easy to keep everything straight. Devail and Nikki were both very, very kind people, and very fun and easy to work with! We also used their photo booth services, which was super fun for both us and our guests. We got all of the pictures sent to us digitally also, which have been a blast to look back through. And on top of ALL of that – they also worked with my now-husband to help him sing and play a surprise song for me on a keyboard! Nikki and Devail, thank you both so much for helping to make our wedding such a fun and memorable experience!! -

Devail and Nikki were a dream to work with! They made the planning process seamless and totally stress-free. Devail was AMAZING at the wedding and reception. His transitions were smooth and he knew exactly what the dance floor needed to spice up the party. We received so many compliments from friends and family afterward about how great our DJ was and we couldn’t agree more!! Look no further if you want a GREAT DJ! 196 is THE BEST! -

Devail & Nikki with 196 events were INCREDIBLE! They made our wedding experience just what we wanted. From ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner and the reception they killed it at every moment. They are so reliable and professional and know exactly how to deliver "NO BORING RECEPTIONS!" The planning process is so easy with them and they are there for you every step of the way. They read the vibe of our guests perfectly and it made for such a great night. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a DJ! Can't say enough good things about these two! -

Devail and Nikki did such an amazing job from start to finish!!! everything was super organized and professional and all of our guest kept saying how great the Dj was. They were so patient with some of our last minute request and had the ability to adapt with changes during the wedding! The photo booth was also a hit and guest loved it! I highly recommend both Nikki and Devail for your next event! No Boring reception here!!!! -

“No boring reception” is an understatement! Music was one of the most important aspects for our wedding. We love to dance and so do our family and friends so finding a DJ that will deliver was incredibly important to us. Devail & Nikki were incredible from the first phone call. They listened to our vision and promised they would deliver and deliver they did. Their planning suite was a helpful tool and being able to use that for our planning was a huge help. We had a phone call nailing down the final details a week before the wedding which went fantastic. Our wedding could not have been more perfect! Devail stuck to our playlist and had everyone on the dance floor all night! The mixing of songs was awesome. Any tweaks we needed they delivered. What stood out to me the most besides the epic entertainment was we had a last minute change of who was going to be doing the welcome speech. Devail took it upon himself to track down my uncle (in a family of over 70ish people) without having a clue who he was and succeeded. INCREDIBLE! Above and beyond are the best words to describe 196 Events! It is so abundantly clear how much they care about their clients and we could not have been more happy. Thank you Devail and Nikki from the bottom of our hearts for making our vision into a reality! -

Nikki and Devail are a POWER COUPLE and know how to party! They made every step of the planning process so easy and were very responsive with any questions we had. We started planning our wedding February 2020 and had to push our date twice. 196 Events worked so patiently with us and we were so thrilled they could keep making our new dates work. They worked so well with our venue, The Lesner Inn, to ensure our timeline went smoothly and all our traditions were included that we wanted to see. They catered to every small detail we requested and went above and beyond with super fun remixes and song mashups! I wish I could re-live this night over and over again thanks to 196 Events! -

Nikki and Devail were a dream team and power couple! I first met with NIkki to discuss their DJ and Photobooth package and from our initial meeting her excitement was infectious! We picked our vendors based off of the feeling they gave us and I knew immediately I wanted her energy there for our day! We had a unique dinosaur themed wedding and not only did they embrace it but they also were excited and worked hard to bring it to life. This included adding in non-traditional songs (Jurassic Park Theme Song) to adjusting our photobooth template to add dinosaurs. Devail provided music at the ceremomy and a mic for our officiant. He then provided music for cocktails and dinner and kept the party going for the reception. Nikki manned the photobooth, which our guests thoroughly enjoyed, especially being able to make gifs (who knew that was even a thing?!). You also get a link after with all of the photobooth pictures which was so fun to look through! Overall I can't thank them enough for helping with our special day! -

Devail & Nikki were nothing but prompt, professional, and so kind. They were extra helpful in planning meetings and helped customize our song list and photo backdrop to fit the vibe of our wedding. Our guests couldn't get enough of the photo booth (the props were too funny) and tore up the dancefloor all evening. They truly helped make our special night unforgettable for everyone involved! Highly highly recommend 196 Events. -

I can't overstate how much fun we had at our wedding thank you to 196 Events. The music was perfect from beginning to end, it was fun, inclusive without being cheesy, poignant when appropriate, and the dance floor was BUMPIN. We just could not be happier, and 196's narration kept us going throughout the night and right on schedule! -

Devail & Nikki are an amazing team to work with. As a fellow wedding vendor, we have loved working with 196 Events for several weddings over the years. Nikki helps you plan out your wedding reception agenda and details before your wedding day while Devail keeps everyone on the dance floor all night. These two are some of our favorite vendors we have ever worked with, hands down! As wedding photographers, it's important that we're on the same page with the DJ all through the reception to ensure not a moment is missed and Devail & Nikki are great at communicating with us all night. Brides: having a wedding vendor team that works well together is SO important to having your wedding day run smoothly. We loved working with 196 Events and hope to work with them again in the future! -
Amber Sent on 06/26/2018Where do I start?! 196 is absolutely amazing!! Devail and Nikki are the most down to earth people we have ever met!! We hit it off on our first meeting and we texted them before we left the parking lot to let them know that we wanted to work with them. They were very responsive to my emails and text messages and only wanted what was in our best interests! On our wedding day they surpassed our expectations!! Our guests did not want to leave the dance floor and didn’t want the night to be over!! Though there were just a few snags along the way, Devail and Nikki kept it very professional and fun!! I sweated out my hairstyle, that’s how much fun I had and it was all thanks to 196 events!! If you’re looking for a DJ that’s going to keep the party going, then give 196 events a call: you will NOT be disappointed!! P.S. they have the coolest photo booth as well!!

The pictures are amazing, this couple is amazing, everything is TOP NOTCH!!!! Gorgeous pictures, modern set up, friendliest staffing ever - not only should you hire them, but you should also tell your DJ and wedding planner to encourage people to get their butts over to the booth as much as possible - because people are going to go crazy for these pictures! Also, the team is SO easy to work with and will find you the PERFECT backdrop and PERFECT photo booth strip design. SO patient. SO kind. So, I'll say it again - BEST PHOTO BOOTH EVER!!!! -

We had what some might call a smaller wedding, so I was a little worried about keeping people on the dance floor...but Devail was great about playing the music we liked, getting people motivated, and even getting on the dance floor with our guests!! 10/10 would recommend for any other bride in Hampton Roads! -

When the wedding came around they were 100% prepared and did a great job getting the crowd to dance. He even mixed Spanish music into the bunch because of our bilingual crowd! I highly recommend 196 events!
