    Best wedding ever!

Our wedding ceremony and reception at 1754 House was everything and more that we wanted! We had our welcome dinner, ceremony, and reception there and from the first time we met with Cara (the manager) until we checked out the day after our wedding everything was amazing. Cara went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly and was what we had envisioned. Choosing 1754 House for our wedding weekend was the best decision we could have made! We also loved our suite and the ability to stay at the inn for the weekend. We will definitely be returning for dinner and likely our anniversaries in the future. I really can't say enough good things about them!

11 out of 10! Historic inn and restaurant in picturesque New England, with EXCELLENT service to boot!!

Heads up: this is a RAVE review, you will find no gripes here! 1754 House knocked it out of the park. My husband and I (from the Boston area) were looking for a small-town venue that would help us put on an intimate wedding (final total was ~65 guests), and the result exceeded our wildest dreams for a wedding. For one, 1754 House bundles SO MANY different services under one roof! If you are a looking for a venue that will cross off half a dozen vendors just by choosing them, consider this: 1754 House has an inn upstairs where our immediate families and close friends posted up for the weekend and got ready (these include multiple suites), all managed by Cara; note that Cara also made our delicious and beautifully decorated pumpkin wedding cake; the cuisine is TOP of the line with Chefs Michael and David and everything they produce is a unique crowd pleaser; we did not hire a wedding planner, but Events Manager Brittany made it feel like we did, acting as our anchor, overseer of all dream plans, ceremony director, and the glue that held everything together throughout over a year of planning; AND we hosted our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at 1754 House and had the option of choosing from three different dining spaces (a fourth event-specific space is in the works in the carriage house too).

The whole staff fielded a number of curveballs with elegance, including an all-vegetarian wedding, pierogi as a late addition to the menu, a Ukrainian dessert shipped to them from across the country and expertly assembled onsite, and some pretty wild requests related to our decor (it was a library themed wedding so there was an obscene number of books to wrangle). The space itself is phenomenal, including outdoor spots for the ceremony, rooms that feel intimate with warm lighting and antique details, centuries-old wooden beams and fireplaces boasting years of character, and modern touches such as funky lighting pieces and super comfy dining chairs.

The weekend of the wedding, we dropped all of our decor off, and like magic, it was all assembled exactly as we imagined with hours to spare. I know this is a long review! But I also want to give a shout out to the serving and bar staff, who are all super experienced and gracious and kind-hearted; we felt very well taken care of and always felt like we were on track. Same for the inn staff (some of whom straddle both inn and restaurant operations), including the manager, hosts, and housekeeping: they helped us make reservations, keep things looking sharp, deliver welcome bags to guests, and keep everyone fed each morning with muffins, oatmeal, fruit, coffee/tea, and other bed & breakfast type fixings. I could go on for days, but to summarize: 1754 House made our experience the best ever, and in general Woodbury is a beautiful community to spend a weekend. We live two and a half hours away and can’t wait to visit again soon! It’s worth the trip every time!

(*note: re price estimates through Wedding Wire; for us, the total bill covers A LOT of items since 1754 House is also the caterer and bar service and their furniture/linens/dishes are all used. So in our case that was hors d'oeuvres, dinner, cake, open bar, champagne toast, gratuity, and your usual venue costs: site fee, down payment, taxes)

Highly recommend for small, intimate weddings

Brittany is a highly professional and competent event planner and was fantastic throughout the whole process. I was highly satisfied with her prompt and responsive communication. She helped us plan our 28 person wedding with only two months notice. During our first meeting she gave us a folder with local vendor suggestions, which was very helpful when putting everything together on short notice. We chose to decorate the fireplace mantle in front of the sweethearts table, and Brittany made sure everything looked exactly like the photo I provided to her. Many guests commented on the fantastic food and charming atmosphere. This venue was also very reasonably priced. Our total cost for the reception was about $3500 and included the room rental, setup/cleanup, the choice of three canapes, a three course dinner, a full open bar, and all taxes/tips.

    Perfect Choice

Can't say enough good things about the 1754 House. They were able to make a small wedding happen with only three weeks notice. From appetizers to dessert, the food at the 1754 House was beyond delicious. The added bonus was the event planner, Brittany. She was so accommodating and calm - exactly what was needed. Charming country inn recently renovated. I would not hesitate to chose this as your event venue. Bonus - they are restoring the carriage house into a venue for larger events.
