We had both our wedding ceremony and reception with Churchill's and also rented out the rooftop terrace. Our original wedding date was May 2nd, but unfortunately COVID had other plans. Mark is an absolute ROCKSTAR! He held my hand through all of the rescheduling, made sure that everything was covered, and quickly and thoroughly answered any and all questions I had. During the reception, all of the staff were extremely attentive and pleasant. The venue is absolutely drop dead gorgeous - it doesn't even require much (if any) decor. Like I said before, this was the best decision I've ever made. If you book with them, you definitely won't regret it! -

The venue manager Carter is phenomenal as is the entire team at 10 Downing! It is an incredible value for the price. Carter was always available and extremely responsive via phone or email. He handled everything with ease and made my wedding day exceptional, I couldn't have done it without him. I received comments from guests after the wedding stating, "best steak I've ever had!' and "the best bartenders ever!" You cannot go wrong booking this venue. -

Perfect Reception Venue
We booked 10 Downing and the rooftop for our wedding and The night couldn’t have been more perfect. Carter took over for Mark as the event manager and Carter was amazing to work with. He answered every email and put us as a wedding couple at ease and helped plan a perfect night. We ended up checking the venue out early since we are from out of town and got so the menu tasting - the food there is SO good! We had amazing bar service the night of the wedding and the wait staff was so kind. The room really transformed. We ended up having about 80 guests (the room fits 74 so if you need more room - book the rooftop terrace as well for seating outside). The dance floor and outside bar was so nice. I’d recommend Carter and his team to anyone. Definitely book if you have the room to accommodate ! -

We used Mark for our daughter's wedding 10/16/21 at the Savannah Yacht Club. His name should be reMarkable Royston! From start to finish, every detail, this gentleman knows his work and he executes flawlessly. I'd say we are high maintenance in terms of details, schedules, etc. and Mark never missed a beat. He actually allowed to me to sit back and enjoy the day feeling we were in more than capable hands. If you are considering, stop and hire him- it was the best decision we made for the entire wedding! Perfect Venue!
10 Downing was the absolute perfect venue for our intimate wedding!! Mark was a gem to work with and no request was too big and he made sure no detail went overlooked! When I walked into the reception space on our wedding day, I had tears! My vision was perfectly executed and our guests are still talking about the food, service and wedding as one of the best they’ve been to in a long time. You will not regret trusting Mark and the 10 Downing team with your special day! -

I toured two venues prior to 10 Downing and was scheduled to tour one after. 10 Downing was the only venue both of my parents were able to tour with me and, before the end of it, my mom and I both looked at each other and said, "Let's book it!".
10 Downing has that classic Savannah charm and is a blank canvas for the romantic, intimate wedding of your dreams. I've seen so many pictures of weddings held here and no two are ever the same. The weathered wood floors, gorgeous tall windows overlooking Bay Street, cozy fireplace settings and beautiful antique bar areas all add to the elegance and uniqueness of the place.
We had a total of 79 guests confirmed but ended up with only about 65 total in attendance on the night of our wedding. The space was perfect! I wouldn't recommend any more if you're looking for a seated dinner with sweetheart and cake tables, though. Having prepared for 79 guests, we took up every inch of the room but were all very comfortable. We also had the rooftop terrace reserved which could provide additional seating but we didn't want to separate our guests. We loved being able to eat, drink and be merry with all of our loved ones gathered together. The terrace was the perfect setting for our cocktail hour and reception, however. Having the extra bar allowed drinks to keep flowing without our guests missing too much time on the dance floor!
The staff was excellent, attending to our every need with anticipation and pleasure. Everything went off without a hitch (that we knew of). I'd be remiss though to end without mentioning that the events manager, Mark Royston, was the second most important determining factor in my mom and I falling in love with this space. His genuine love for all things weddings is apparent from first contact. His enthusiasm is infectious, his responses to all communications were prompt and he goes above and beyond to ensure your wedding is exactly what YOU want it to be. You can't go wrong with a wedding at 10 Downing but you'd truly be missing out to not also take advantage of booking Mark and his equally amazing wife, Meg, to be your day of coordinators (at a generous discount!). My husband and I were married on November 16, 2019, the day of the epic down pour, and have nothing but wonderful memories of our day thanks to the hard work Meg and Mark put in behind the scenes. Mark facilitated securing tents for the terrace the morning of and communicated with all of the vendors (and immediate family!) regarding back up plans as well as rearranging timelines. Meg was my right hand woman, in addition to my sisters, and helped keep me together during the night. They're an absolute dream team. I'd recommend 10 Downing and Elegant Savannah Weddings to any and every one! -

Choosing 10 Downing for our venue was the first and best decision we made. Our wedding was a small destination wedding with 40 of our closest family and friends. We loved the southern charm 10 Downing offered and the intimate setting where our entire group could fit without feeling too small or over crowded. The food was amazing but the service the day of and the amazing coordination by Mark was the icing on the cake. I would recommend 10 Downing over and over again. -

10 Downing is truly a hidden gem. The venue itself is gorgeous; for my 66-person affair, we took advantage of the rooftop bar, and we had a wonderful night of dancing under the stars. The space is lovely and needs very little additional decoration. The food was excellent; folks are still reaching out to tell me how wonderful their meal was! But, above all else, the true stars of the show were Mark and Meg. They helped my night to be more wonderful than I could image. Mark's assistance during the planning process made it more simple than I could have ever imagined. Meg, bless her, was a great comfort to me during my "bridal freakout" (hey, we're all allowed to have one, right?)! I cannot recommend Mark and Meg, and 10 Downing, enough! -

I can’t say enough good things about the staff and the venue. Planning an out of town wedding has challenges but Mark was knowledgeable and accommodating and helped us work through all of the details that we wouldn’t have even know to ask about. Every step of the way the staff was warm and professional and just a pleasure to work with. The venue itself was elegant without being stuffy and very few decorations were needed, again, perfect when you’re from out of town. The food was wonderful and they graciously provided meals for those with special diet needs. All the way around it was a great experience, nothing negative to note! -

Rehearsal Dinner/Welcome Party
This review is long overdue. My husband and I hosted our wedding in Savannah and it was important to us to host a Welcome Party since so many guests were traveling from out of town. 10 Downing was the perfect venue for it! I can honestly working with Mark and his team was enjoyable and stress free. He is a professional and expert in all things hosting! The food, an open bar switching to cash bar at 10pm, the music, decor, everything was seamless. Thank you Mark for being the best vendor in Savannah! I hope to host another even here again. -

I am the bride's mother...you know, the "one who cannot be pleased." Yet, I am incredibly pleased after having had Mark Royston and his team at 10 Downing St. host my daughter's wedding reception. We are from out-of-town and needed to rely on the tastes and communication abilities of the vendors we used, and without exception, Mark was ahead of everything. While being professional and diplomatic when that was necessary, he maintained his sense of humor the whole time. We worried about rain with a March wedding; he thought ahead and had warming lamps for us on the patio and he was right. He was spot on when it came to how many tables would fit comfortably, had suggestions about the care of guests' children, worked with us planning out some unusual bar arrangements, responded promptly, kindly, and truthfully to our requests for information, costs and opinions. This man is a jewel. Frankly, there were no requests on our part which he was unable to deliver on one way or another.
The site itself is a special one, perfect for a small-medium sized group (we had about 70) located in the middle of the historic district, and with an agreement which exists between 10 Downing and the city-owned parking garage 1/2 block away, parking issues simply vanish. If the reception needs to go on after the newlyweds have left, the city of Savannah is right outside the door, waiting. We used their hors d-oeuvres menu and bars (yes, there are two upstairs, one in the lounge adjacent to the dining room, and the other is outside on the patio) for the cocktail hour while photos at the chapel were taken. When the couple arrived, we served an incredibly delicious dinner (Mark sets up a double buffet line so there is no significant wait.) from their buffet menu choices, and had wedding cake for dessert. We were able to adjust pricing between the menus to accommodate our selections. Closer to the wedding, it was apparent that a few guests would require special diets, and the kitchen handled those needs with quiet grace and aplomb. No one felt as though he had to eat from a "less expensive" menu, and everything was presented with elegance and pride.
I would love to post photos, but at this time, have not gotten them back from our photographer. When they do come in, I'll post for you. Without photos, though, you can easily check out the marvelous planning app on the Churchill's 10 Downing St. site. It's a link especially set up for folks planning a party and wanting to see space represented in 3-D, and take a 360 degree "tour." Take it from me that the space at 10 Downing plus a talented florist can create all a bride would want.
I was the last "guest" present the night of our daughter's wedding. My husband had brought the car around to the back of the restaurant so that we could load gifts and so on, and I spent some time settling the bill and chatting with Mark. The bill was less than I'd planned on it being, which is remarkable in these times! And for the first time in a long, long, long time I felt like tipping liberally, not because I've got money to lose, but because I felt that 10 Downing and every one of its employees, waiters, bartenders, chefs, and their assistants, as well as the manager, Mark, had tried their best to put on a memorable party and had succeeded, as they say around here, in spades!

Choosing 10 Downing as our wedding venue was one of the best decisions we made regarding our wedding! When we got engaged we knew we wanted to get married in Savannah, since it's a very special place to our story. Churchill's was one of the first places we ate together on our first trip to Savannah so it made sense to check out. Once I started planning with Mark, it became clear it was the perfect choice. Mark and I had a great time planning the wedding and working out the details together. He was super responsive and offered advice that was truly appreciated. From the initial contact through the big day (and even the next day when we forgot something and had to go back for it) he was the best to work with! I dare say we even formed a friendship over our shared interest in sarcastic humor and strong coffee! While working with Mark and his team was a dream come true, the venue itself was perfect. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was incredible, and the set up was awesome. We had the best night of our lives there! -

As seems to be the trend, we cannot say enough good things about the venue and about Mark.
We had a somewhat complicated engagement including planning initially from Florida and then moving across the country about six months before the wedding so I could begin PhD training. We also wanted a relatively small wedding that would be fun and memorable without going into debt.
10 Downing was definitely an amazing value. It was so much less expensive than everywhere else we had looked in Savannah and, as long-time patrons of Churchill’s, we knew the food would be great (one of our main priorities!). Unlike with many other venues and caterers, as a vegetarian bride I felt like more than an afterthought when it came to food. Most other places didn’t have any examples of vegetarian entrees and had very limited suggestions when it came to custom menus. Mark, a fellow vegetarian, helped me to craft the perfect menu that included both veggie and non-veggie options for our guests. I loved the flexibility of the food options and we had an out of this world tasting before we moved that was well worth the cost.
Mark was extremely helpful all along the way. He would promptly respond to all of my detailed questions via email and really helped us sort out all of the details of the big day. I never grew up dreaming of my perfect wedding and didn’t know where to start when it came to most things. I do not think it would be too much to say that I wouldn’t have even had a wedding if we hadn’t met Mark and found this venue.
The venue is beautiful and classy and there is so much flexibility in almost everything that it was possible to plan a perfect wedding that truly reflected my husband and my personalities. It was such a fun wedding and our friends and family can’t stop talking about it. Definitely worth the headache of planning.
Also, you should get the whipped feta and grilled ciabatta as part of your menu. It is unreal.

Excellent venue
We had a small wedding of 25 people and the venue was quite intimate. Food was excellent and the service always attentive. Best place for an indoor wedding ceremony and reception. Cocktails were in Winston’s Wine Cellar and we could even go outside on the rooftop patio. -

WOW! Where do I begin?! From Day One, Mark has taken such good care of Jeff & I. We got married on Sept 22nd, 2018 but we were spending time with Mark much before that!
Unlike most couples, Jeff & I are HUGE foodies! Nothing like some delicious, high quality ingredients and Mark shared that passion with us. So began our adventures exploring everything 10 Downing at Churchill's had to offer. We met for multiple tastings and with each tasting - we fell more in love with this venue, the food and our Host, Mark!
Each time we met with him, he allowed us the freedom to explore our ideas on the food, setup, service and decor. He invested time assisting and guiding us towards the kind of wedding we envisioned. He helped us to stay on track and did an incredibly awesome job making it easy with little to no stress.
Honestly, I could easily write a novel on how wonderful Mark was, the same goes for his lovely wife, Meg, AND their staff at 10 Downing!
OKAY, let me just put it to you, all, this way....if you want proactive planning & an incredibly smooth, unforgettable wedding day - there is no other option....10 Downing & ELEGANT SAVANNAH WEDDINGS is the way to go!!!!!!

Perfect!!!!
Reading all the great reviews helped me make the best decision I made during my wedding planning process. Mark answered all my emails within hours! If he was out of the office one of his knowledgeable staff members answered them for him. The venue space was beautiful for both the ceremony and reception. Everyone there went above and beyond to make me and my guests happy. The professionalism of Mark and his staff was five stars!!! Mark even came in on his day off to open the doors for us to rehearse. He ended up running the whole thing because none of us knew what we were doing. He also found the perfect Pandora station for me for reception music! Everyone raved about the food and service! I will be recommending Churchill’s to any of my friends thinking about a destination wedding. -

My wife and I got married here last week and we could not be happier. Mark and his team are by far the best thing that could’ve happened to this wedding. Mark was so professional and helpful, we could not have done it without him. My wife and I joke how most weddings are plagued with issues and we experienced none of that. Mark is so thorough that he approached us with questions that we didn’t even realize we needed to ask. The venue is gorgeous and very affordable but I’d pay three times as much just for Mark’s help. If you’re on the fence I hope that reviews like this can help you make the decision to enjoy this venue as much as we did and to have the pleasure of working with Mark for your special day. -
Chloe Sent on 06/20/2018If you are looking for the perfect venue for your Savannah wedding, look no further! 10 Downing was the absolute perfect location for our destination wedding reception. The communication and service provided to us by Mark and the rest of the staff was outstanding! With a larger wedding party we were able to enjoy both the indoor and outdoor space and Mark assisted us in seamlessly ushering guests between spaces. The décor is stunning and leaves little need for flowers or extra decorations. The food... exceptional! Several guests told me this was the best "wedding food" they had ever had. It was conveniently located close to several hotels and in walking distance of other bars, etc. Everything was reasonably priced and worth every penny. I would do it over again 100 times if I could! (Sorry to share so many photos... I remember wanting to see more when I was planning the wedding from Kentucky!)

We rented the ballroom and the patio for our big day, while having our ceremony in a nearby park. I HIGHLY recommend hiring Mark & Meg to coordinate your wedding. They handled everything wonderfully on our wedding day, from the ceremony, to cocktail hour, all through the reception. We didn't have to stress about dragging in friends or family to help us decorate, and got to spend the day relaxing and enjoying ourselves! If you are able to, we really enjoyed doing the food tasting ahead of time as well, where we tried samples of some different menu items before making our final meal selections. Speaking of food - it was outstanding! I'm still dreaming of the fried green tomatoes... Looking forward to drinks at Churchill's on our anniversary!

Jenny Sent on 05/11/2018Our wedding at 10 downing was absolutely perfect! I cannot say enough good things about Mark and his wife. They ensured that our wedding day was amazing! Mark was very responsive to all of my messages and answered all of my questions. As another reviewer said, if anything went awry, we were not aware of it. You can tell that they love what they do because they truly want to make this day perfect for you! We forgot to order our large sheet cake before we got there and didn’t know who was going to pick it up. Mark offered to do it for us so we wouldn’t have to stress. He made sure to fill in any gaps that we had in our plan! One piece of advice, hire them to do both the ceremony and reception! We got married in a garden and did not do this and had a few hiccups. I promise you that it is worth the cost! Wedding planning is super stressful and Mark does an incredible job of taking that stress away for you. He is so patient, understanding, and will work with you to make sure your vision of the day comes to life! Everyone had so much fun at our wedding and it could not have gone any better!

They honestly made the wedding planning process seamless, enjoyable, and so easy. I planned my wedding from Minnesota and am so lucky to have had them on my team. Mark responded to my lengthy emails within hours and was so thorough and complete. They made a fabulous day of timeline and contact list that was so helpful.
10 Downing is the most beautiful venue. We had our ceremony and reception here - we had 65 people and it was the perfect size. I'd highly recommend reserving the rooftop bar as well - the guests really loved having an outside option and it was perfect for cocktail hour.
Honestly every single one of my guests said that this was the best meal they had in Savannah and the best wedding food they'd ever had. We went with the family style option of shrimp and grits paired with NY Strip and both were just phenomenal. Everyone says that something will go wrong on your wedding day, but that did not happen for me thanks to Mark and Meg. If something did go awry, it was taken care of before even noticed/not noticed at all. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend this venue!! -

Bree Sent on 11/05/2017My review is actually for Churchill's Winston Wine Cellar; another terrific venue space available that is actually downstairs from the restaurant's street level entrance. This venue was perfect for our 40 guests for our 'Wedding Eve Bash.' Mark, the manager, was more than accommodating, professional, and helpful in helping us build our menu and plan our dream evening out. The food set the bar quite high for the weekend and actually was the best dinner we experienced! You were allowed to bring in your own decor and choose your own bar plan as well which was really great in making the evening just the way we wanted it. Thank you Mark and your very friendly staff for a terrific dinner and excellent evening! I highly recommend this venue for its unique historic atmosphere and for the grand dining experience. -
Krystin Sent on 10/27/2017My husband and I had our wedding at Churchill's on October 21, 2017. After becoming engaged in June, I began to reach out to various venues in Savannah to see if there was anything available in October. Alyssa from Churchill's responded immediately, and was on the phone with my mom that evening. After being introduced to Alyssa, we were introduced to Mark, the General Manager. Both were an absolute dream to work with. Their responses were quick, thoughtful, and always thorough - the thorough part being the most important to me. My now-husband and I never had a chance to actually visit the venue space prior to the wedding, so we put all of our trust in Mark and his team, and his e-mail responses never caused me to doubt our choice. We had around 60 guests in total, and utilized the ceremony room for both the ceremony and dinner. We elected to use the rooftop for the cocktail hour as well as the reception. The space itself is just beautiful - wood floors, big windows, bulb lights over the rooftop. Everything ran smoothly and was taken care of. When the straps broke on both of the shoes my sister-in-law was wearing, Mark pulled out an emergency bag and found a hot glue gun so we could fix them. When he heard my parents really loved the brussels sprouts they'd had at Churchill's the previous evening, he made sure there were some on their plates during the reception. And through the entire four month planning process and evening of the wedding, Mark infused an enormous amount of humor into the experience. I am ridiculously glad we chose Churchill's. I will be recommending them to absolutely everyone who suggests they are interested in getting married in Savannah. They are, hands down, the best deal you will find there.

We held the ceremony and reception in 10 Downing and the cocktail hour in Winston's Wine Cellar. The staff is very well trained and go above and beyond to see to the guests needs. The food was to die for and our guests are still raving about it! Mark and team do an amazing job! We highly recommend you hire him for day of coordination as well.

We do not live in Savannah but we made trips down to see the venue and such, I first went with my now husband and then I brought my parents later on to see it when we went down. They were so helpful and worked so I could see it twice (we were already booked with them when I brought my parents). My husband and I are vegan and finding a place that had vegan was so special to me, knowing that all the food at our wedding was food we could eat was incredible the chef is truly amazing. They communicated with us throughout the whole process and made sure they had every detail needed, even with some email problems I had with my email not going through. Set up was very smooth and they made sure we had everything we needed. Having the bar there was perfect and everything was handled perfectly, they really know what they are doing. Also, the room was perfect and beautiful I could not be happier. Mark and Alyssa you guys are rock stars and helped make our day so unforgettable, thank you. -

Lilly Sent on 08/15/201510 Downing was our perfect wedding reception venue! While looking for a place in Savannah, we ran into many problems. We wanted an indoor/outdoor venue that had a charming feel to it and wasn't too crazy expensive. 10 Downing was the only venue that fit what we wanted and it was our favorite out of every place we looked! If you rent the indoor space and outdoor patio at 10 downing, you can have up to 150/160 guests! We ended up having about 130 guests and it was the absolute perfect number for the space. We filled it but weren't cramped. 10 Downing is paired to the restaurant, Churchills pub, on Bay Street so they cater the event. The food was fabulous! We chose to serve heavy hors d'oeuvres for our event because of the limited space for tables. Servers walked around all night with food for the guests along with the buffet being filled by stationary hors d'oeuvres. They even prepared us a box of food to take with us at the end of the night. The atmosphere was fantastic and the place looked perfect!
My biggest compliment for the venue is Mark Royston, the event manager. He is like a magical unicorn of planning and patience. I am a very type A person and like to know how everything is done. I am very planning oriented in my life. Mark never left me in the dark or made me feel like he didn't know what to do. In fact, he knew the ins and outs of planning for his space so well, he thought of the best solution to my problems every time. Mark is extremely nice and will meet with you any time you need. He emails back at the speed of light. Seriously. If you as the bride start flipping out and email him, he emails you back almost instantly with the perfect solution. Mark is also well connected and can suggest other great venues to use. He had worked with both our florist and cake baker in the past. Not only was he helpful all the way up to the wedding day, but on the wedding day, he was there the entire day to make sure everything went smoothly. It was perfect. -

When we first began planning (we were planning the wedding from Missouri and Alabama), Mark was quick to respond to our inquiries. Once we booked, the service level did not diminish. Any questions that we had were answered quickly and it truly felt as if we were the only event he was working on. Once we arrived, the staff was flexible and attentive to us and our guests. The room is just lovely and feels very intimate; we added very minimal decorations, and the guests all commented on how pretty everything was. The room allows you to create a reception as simple or elegant as you wish. I am so pleased that we chose 10 Downing for our reception. Mark is fantastic and we can't say enough about our experience -

Ally Sent on 04/16/2015Although we didn't have an official rehearsal dinner, our entire guest list of 40 out-of-towners rocked up to Churchill's the night before our wedding for a casual mix and mingle. The bar staff were great to accommodate our request for a capped open tab for anyone with our wedding, and the outdoor patio was the perfect place to grab a drink and some light fare. Thanks Churchill's! -

Stephanie Sent on 04/17/2014It's kind of hard to believe when you're reading vendor reviews when planning your wedding and someone consistently receives 5.0/5.0 stars from past clients. With 10 Downing, believe it! If we had it all to do over again, we would chose 10 Downing every time. Mark and his staff were so friendly and helpful throughout the entire process; that was especially comforting to a couple who was planning their ceremony and reception from out of state. This was the first venue we looked at and we both fell in love the minute we saw the space. Mark was amazing at communicating with us and making sure all of our questions were answered. The space was just the right size and all of our guests had an amazing time. Our ceremony took place inside, with my (now) husband and I saying our vows in front of their three huge windows overlooking Bay Street. After the ceremony, everyone went outside for cocktails while Mark and his staff flipped the inside to hold the reception. It was seamless. Seriously. The food ... I cannot do it justice. Every bite we had was delicious! By the way, the past reviews are not overselling the mac-n-cheese!!! We didn't have a "traditional" wedding by any means, so this meant we also did not have a wedding cake. Instead, our guests devoured the peanut butter pie. I cannot tell you how many people commented on this and thanked us for our decision to serve something so delicious! Mark was constantly in touch and made sure our day went flawlessly; constantly reassuring a bride who was panicking about the rain (me) :) . 200% I would recommend 10 Downing to anyone looking for a ceremony/reception! I'm sad it's over and would do it all over again. -

Kimberly Sent on 12/24/2013Look no further…..seriously. I have scoured Savannah for venues and this is BY FAR the best as far as service, value and ambiance goes. I’m going to jump on the bandwagon and just say, MARK IS AMAZING! He goes above and beyond his normal duties of restaurant manager and is just a really nice guy in general. The food was awesome, Mark has a great relationship with all outside vendors (DJ, Cake Service, etc) which makes everything run even more smoothly and I cannot tell you how many e-mails we exchanged back and forth over the course of the year and he responds almost immediately every time.....I really don't think this guy sleeps.Our guests all complimented how beautiful the venue and food was and they all had a really great time. He was also very accomodating as far as letting us into the venue ahead of time to drop off our decor and we were able to pick up everything the next day. Thank you so much Mark and staff!!
