I think Yana is amazing. She did a shoot for me and the makeup and hair was included in the price. I am so very happy with the quality of her work. She made me very comftorable, had great ideas for the photos and accessories that I could use. She is amazing. Great peesonality and work! Veey talented and fun to work with!

Yana is an exceptional human being. She knows how to make her clients feel comfortable. Yana was extremely flexible with her schedule as me and my husband work in physical therapy and at times work 6 days a week. We had two engagement sessions; one in summer and one in fall; a boudoir shoot and she was with us for 10+ hrs on our big day. She offers packages that she is also flexible with. Starting out; I could not believe how much photographers charge for photos, I was extremely naive. I looked after our first engagement session that a good photographer, such as Yana is truly worth every penny. She helped and led us through every session. Besides capturing the most gorgeous photos, she looks at every detail in her photos and edits them to perfection. I continue to look back at our engagement and boudoir sessions really not believing that its us! They are absolutely stunning. I highly recommend Yana Galanin Photography for her laid back persona, reponsiveness, artistic style and overall positivity that radiates on to other people. Thank you Yana for giving Pete and I photos we will cherish for a lifetime!

Hired Yana for our Engagement and Wedding photos. The Engagement photos where wonderful...Only few things went wrong with that. None of the photos ideas I sent her she used which was upsetting but whatever. Than it was a big hassle for her to get the flash drive but again whatever. She has some things going on so I let it go. When I saw the pictures I was happy. Fast forward to our wedding day!! AMAZING DAY!! Couldn't wait to see my photos in 6 to 12 weeks!! Getting Yana to respond via text or call sometimes is like waiting for a snail to cross the road, other times she is on point. When it came to getting our wedding pictures...lets just say that was a mess. To put it as simple as possible she said we would have them, they didn't come, she was MIA for 2 weeks and we knew nothing and than we had to go pick them up. So I finally have my wedding photos and I'm expecting GREAT things and I get let down. Some photos are kinda blurry, some photos have way to much light so you are missing really important moments (like my dad walking me down the aisle), and lots of the photos from the wedding reception are of the back of peoples head. Out of 616 photos (half she did in black and white) so really out of 308 only 135 are worth printing or showing my family. I feel Yana is much better at posed pictures. The photos of the wedding party and my husband and I after the wedding are beautiful...all other photos are just not what I thought they would be. Some photos don't even look edited. All in all in if you are looking for a wedding photographer to capture your WHOLE day I'd go with another photographer, like Jenny Benz (Captured with Love) She was my first choice but was sadly booked :(
P.S For the price you pay for Yana you figure you'd get A LOT more than just a simple flash drive!

So there I was, wearing a tuxedo surrounded by other like dressed individuals when I saw it. The "photographer" and her "assistant" interpretively dancing to bongo music while not wearing shoes but wearing loose fitting casual dresses. They were doing that instead of, oh you know, taking freaking photographs. To their credit, they did get a solid picture of the doormat, however off centered. Oh and I almost forgot, the cherished picture of my wife in a garage surrounded by rakes. Super artsy. At least it only took 6 months to see these pictures, which I'm pretty sure is standard in the photography game. Oh and do you like black/white and sepia? Because if so, you are in for a treat. They will triplicate every photo they take with those filters. Again, they will be off centered, but if I learned anything from Battlefield Earth, an angled lens is the best lens. I would nominate these two for every Razzie in the book if possible. My nine month old with a disposable camerawould have done a better job at wedding photos. Seriously. If you have to choose between these "photographers" and your drunken uncle with a Razr camera phone, take uncle Lush any day. Run away. Run far, far away.

I chose Yana for my son's senior pics because I saw wedding pictures she did and I thought her pictures were beautiful. But here is what happened instead. I spend nearly $400. Then I waited and waited and waited for the pictures she said I would have in two weeks. (waited about two months and got nervous that I was getting ripped off). I finally got an appointment to view the pics and pick out the ones I wanted printed. At the last minute she had someone text me to say she wasn't showing up. Instead she put a thumb drive in a mailbox and told me to pick it up. She then told me to just have them printed wherever and I "wouldn't have to pay extra for the whole thumb drive". This left me confused to say the least. So I did what she said. Two problems...some places wont print for me because of copyright concerns. And I found that there is a problem with the photos which is causing my son's complexion to look very blue in the pictures. I have called, emailed, and Facebooked her to no avail. Yana if you will just work with me to correct this situation then I will be happy to let the whole world know that you are professional and do the right thing when there is a problem.

My complaints are detailed below, but my message to any bride researching your wedding photographer is simple: Do not trust Yana with your once-in-a-lifetime memories. I’ve had to learn the hard way; she is not a wedding photographer, she is simply a photographer interested in capturing her interpretation of ‘art’, and doing so on the bride’s dollar.

Although Yana was energetic and supposedly snapping pictures the entire day of our wedding, the aftermath was a disaster. We waited beyond her contract specifications to receive any pictures, and the pictures we received were a paltry amount compared to the number we expected. Yana couldn’t produce certain pictures that we had agreed on, such as a picture of just my mom and me, the Matron of Honor and me, and individual photos with each of the bridesmaids. These are common pictures that every bride wants, and we had talked about it prior to the wedding! Although she supposedly took those pictures the day of, we didn’t receive them. When we questioned her, Yana referred us to her contract where ‘she reserves the right to provide the pictures she deems to be of a certain quality.’ She also enlightened us that she is in the industry to produce ‘art’ and wouldn’t share anything that didn’t meet her artistic expectations. It is hard for me to accept this excuse when she had pictures of my doormat, but none of my mom and me.

I’ve reached out to Yana multiple times after the wedding about the status of our photos, the lack of photos, the quality of the photos etc, and each time I’m faced with a delay in response, followed by an excuse and referral to her contract which she constantly cowers behind. Our last communication with Yana was asking for, at the very least, a picture of my mom and me. Two months later I have no response and have to assume she never took the picture, lost it, or isn’t good enough of a photographer to find a bride and her mom on the wedding day.
