Fairytale Wedding 🥰

Words can’t describe how perfect my daughters wedding and celebration was at The View on Highway 98!!! Yes the venue is spectacular, yes the food is amazing and yes the 75 guests were each special to us, but the thing that made our event PERFECT, was the staff!! Hard to even call them “staff”. They were flawless!!! And we will forever be thankful COVID canceled our original plans and we landed with Lauren and Hugh❤️ Thank you!!!!!

Don't pick them unless you want to end in tears

Beware of how they treat people & definitely do not use them for events! We were planning on using The View on Old 98 for our wedding. It should be a happy occasion in a place that is dear to our hearts (the house was destroyed in Hurricane Michael and had to move away so wanted to go back to get married there). It really is a shame that The View on Old 98 has treated us so poorly and with lack of care by especially business owners. We felt they should stand behind what 2 owners agree to with us and we shouldn’t be punished for changes in ownership/management. They lack of proper business etiquette and integrity is appalling.
After inquiring about having our wedding reception there we were told Lauren, one of the owners, would contact us the same day. It actually took us contacting a few times and was a week before she ever contacted us. Lauren on the phone gave us pricing for buying out the venue, food for our party. I asked detailed questions so it was clear what was included and not in the price. She told me she is one of the owners and what a good price we were getting because she compared it to what another person paid for their weddings because she saw their invoices (privileged information). She told me to text her with any questions, so the next day I text her since we wanted to move forward and meet with her to hammer out details and sign a contract and she let me know that she was at her other job (honestly, I didn’t need to know it had nothing to do with what I was contacting her about) and said she would shoot me a text the next day. A week goes by and I have not heard from Lauren. I message her and she texts me asking me to e-mail her. I tried to call since I knew she was at her phone and she sent me straight to voicemail and sent me another text asking if I got her text about e-mailing her. She finally called me and was rude and again made excuses for not contacting me and saying she had been busy (she as a business owner should do what she says or ask someone else to contact us). I asked her if she is too busy if we should be working with someone else? She said no she is one of the owners and the person who handles events; so we set up a meeting with a time that she said she could be there and with JT (chef/ owner) and Amanda (manager) to get everything in order. After that she sends a second e-mail that seems she has upped the price of the event and mentions for part of the restaurant, we figure there must be some misunderstanding and assume it will be fixed when we are at the meeting. We arrived for the meeting to find out that Lauren didn’t show up, nor is she going to. We speak with JT and Amanda and they talk us over menu options and set-up of the event but inform us that we have to speak to Lauren about pricing. We set up another date 3 weeks out to do a tasting with JT and e-mail Lauren asking her to be at the tasting so that we can figure out pricing and contract. She responds with “Glad you guys have chosen us for your special day. The [date] looks good to me but will double check and make sure I’m not on call. I will get back to you this evening on the date.” She never got back to us so we assumed she would be there and if not as a business owner she would let her customers know. We show up and again Lauren was not there! We voiced our concerns since we were obviously upset that Lauren has twice not shown and is hard to get a hold of and JT said as an owner, he can just handle it. We told him everything from what Lauren quoted on the phone to the pricing she added, he crunched the numbers for us. We picked our food and told him we were happy and would like to move forward. We received an e-mail from him that night with everything: pricing and breakdown of menu. We responded we wanted to work with him, he told us we would have a contract in 2 days. Well 2 days went by we reached out a few times, but because of the holidays thought they must be busy and weren’t worried since 2 owners told us we were good to go. We then found out that the restaurant had some changes and that everything was forwarded to Lauren and that we needed to reach back out to Jason (DOP). We called Jason and didn’t hear back so then e-mail Jason and let him know our concerns and the issues we had been having. We received a response 2 days later that was nice saying they would like to mirror what we had agreed on with the owners and we set a time to speak on the phone. We were told they didn’t have any information about our event, which is absurd because Lauren had also been e-mailing us (but has still forgotten to email back it’s been 2 months). We shared everything that was agreed upon and forwarded e-mails. Jason told us he was going to take this to the owners and was sure we would have a contract in 3 days. The next morning, we received an e-mail from Jason (not a phone call from a business owner) that the owners (Lauren, since JT is no longer with the company) are not interested in moving forward with our event.
I have heard that this is a normal occurrence with them and that they have done this to numerous people - wish someone had let me know that beforehand.
