The Read House Hotel

The Read House and there staff where fabulous! We had my daughters wedding there on January 8th. It was a destination wedding and they made it so easy for us. We had guests come for a long weekend from all over the south. It couldn’t have been a better weekend and wedding. A Big shout out to Sarah, Food & Beverage staff, the hotel concierge, front desk,the waiters/ waitresses y’all where so accommodating and great to us!!! We will be back to relax and enjoy the beautiful hotel soon.

The Read House team worked together seamlessly to insure all my needs/wants were taken care of. The food was AMAZING, we had a plated dinner for 50 and every guest commented how delicious it was. The hotel itself is incredibly beautiful, made for a wonderful place for my guests to “wander” about, and lots of gorgeous photos. Guests who stayed overnight were very pleased with rooms and cleanliness. You cannot recreate the cool jazzy-vibe ambience of The Read House Hotel anywhere else. Highly recommend!!!

When I started looking for our venue, we thought about places we had history with and we had stayed at the Read House many times and loved our experiences there. I went and looked at pictures and was blown away at the renovations that had been done since we last stayed there and knew I had to have our wedding there. Andrea Richey, the Director of Sales, got me started on our journey and even gave us a tour of the venue rooms and hotel. She passed us over to Sarah Adkins, Category Sales Manager, for all our planning needs. Sarah was so helpful, responsive and friendly. She answered all our questions quickly and made the whole experience easy on me and my wedding planner. The entire staff, shout out to Dylan and his team, were beyond helpful and everyone commented on how helpful they were. I can't recommend this venue more. All of our guests gushed about how gorgeous it was. It truly made out dreams come true and made us wish we could do it all again!

Not only does this wedding venue have breathtaking beauty and history, but an AMAZING staff! Sarah Cook, the Event/Sales Coordinator, made certain our daughter and new son-in-law had their dream wedding! We had several meetings with her to nail down all the specifics! She communicated well with the front desk manager, Ebony, who made sure all our guests were comfortable and well-taken care of in our rooms! Ebony was super sweet, loved interacting with our guests, and very professional! Bill, and his banquet event staffers, made sure every detail we had previously discussed with Sarah was followed precisely! The Silver Ballroom staff was very courteous and worked VERY hard that evening to ensure our guests enjoyed a great meal and reception! Bill did an awesome job! The new Chef did not disappoint either! We are still receiving great compliments on how delicious, and hot, the food was at the reception! The bar tending crew rocked and all our guests loved them! Sarah was ALWAYS prompt to respond to any emails or questions we had, and believe me, we had ALOT! She was very patient and thorough! Sarah is definitely in the right industry and the Read House is fortunate and blessed to have her!!

The Read House was absolutely the best place we could have picked for our wedding! They were perfect in providing all we needed! Beautiful! Plus it is historicla and we will always remember this time!

We had our wedding at The Read House. Our fabulous wedding coordinator helped us find this lovely venue. I truly fell in love with the Silver Ballroom and knew immediately that I wanted to have our wedding there. Working with Sarah was great. She was great at responding to my many questions. The wedding went well and our guests really enjoyed the venue. There were a couple of things that I had qualms with though. My husband and I were suppose to spend the night at The Read House after the wedding. The day of the wedding, we had no idea what room were suppose to stay in and it appeared neither did the front desk staff. They eventually gave up an upgrade to the presidential suite which we truly were excited about so things worked out in that area. Another issue I had was with the food. We are Caribbean and were requesting a traditional Caribbean dish. Sarah was kind enough to get us a second food tasting. The chef gave us samples of two dishes which turned out really well. He was really good and explained to us that he was versed in many ethnic dishes. We settled on a coconut curry chicken, mango chunk spread, rice, beans and fried plantains. The day of the wedding, the chef apparently couldn't be there so he left instructions with the suis chef. I am not sure if the suis chef got the instructions or just ignored it, but the meal that was served was low grade. The chicken was dry and did not appear marinated. The rice was dry as well. The mango chunks that were suppose to be on the chicken was pureed to this weird substance. I only ate two bites of my meal. After spending all that money on the food and not getting what was agreed upon was very disappointing. I still believe that The Read House is a wonderful place to have your wedding. My only advice is that you make sure that the main chef will be the one overseeing the food the day of the wedding or you'll have the same experience that I did and will be disappointed with what they serve.

From the 4 star hotel I expected wedding planning service closer to a country club experience. Unfortunately I did not experience it. Though The Silver Ball room is very impressive
