One of my favorite museums, but not the best place for a wedding

As the title says it's my favorite museum in the state. My husband and I are both pilots so it was fitting for our wedding.
Value: Great! The chairs and tables and tablecloths and setup of such were in the price! It was affordable!
Communication: Lacking. Deposit put down early August. Find out 6 days before the actual wedding that there is a kids camp scheduled at the exact same time. We were assured it wouldn't mess up our wedding and that the kids would be moved so that we can have access to the rooms we were renting. Over email communications between late September and November, we had agreed to a set up time of 1 pm for a 3:30 wedding start time. And we were ok with this as the museum was still open to the public at that time. Found out at the rehearsal the day before, my wedding planner was told that we couldn't set up until 2 because "our wedding started at 4". Thankfully she pushed to stick to the 1pm setup time. Day of the wedding we were assured that the kids camp wouldn't interfere yet the kids were in the room and we couldn't access the it. The cake had to be set up in the main foyer and moved later once the room opened, we couldn't find our appetizers and desserts that we brought, my catering team was scrambling for plates, napkins and silverware because that was also in the room with the kids. When the museum closed at 5 was when we finally had access to the rooms we rented.
At the end of the day, I will absolutely go back to the museum for the exhibits and all the airplanes and history, but I would dissuade someone from having a wedding there. My wedding planner was the reason it didn't crumble to pieces and for that I'm grateful.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
