Patty Asken is the owner and cake creator at Sweet P Sweets, Inc. She is absolutely amazing!!! For my wedding this past March, 2009, I sent her a picture of my "dream" cake from Martha Stewart's Magazine. She understood exactly what I was looking for and was able to make a cake that was as beautiful, if not more beautiful than the one in the picture I had sent her. As if that wasn't enough to make my day, she also created a groomsman's cake that became the hit of my reception. The cake looked exactly like a Lou Malnati's deep dish pepperoni pizza - which happens to be my new husband’s favorite. It looked so real that everyone assumed we were feeding them pizza during the cocktail hour! Patty even created a Lou Malnati's pizza box to place the cake in...It was awesome! I would recommend Sweet P Sweets to anyone and everyone. Her services are un-beatable for the price.

Sweet P Sweets created my wedding cake and I give them 5 stars across the board! From our initial contact and through the taste sampling and design session, Patty Asken was a delight to work with. She provided cake, icing, and filling samples and patiently explained which type of coating (fondant vs. white chocolate, etc.) would work best with what I wanted.

When Patty promptly delivered the cake to the hall the afternoon of my reception, there were oohs and aahs from my setup team and when my reception was in full swing later on, my cake was such a huge hit that it was photographed almost as much as I was!

And if having a unique work of culinary art adorn my reception wasn't enough, the cake itself was so delicious that my guests went back for seconds and thirds. The top layer was white cake with raspberry filling, and the middle and bottom layer were chocolate and yellow with cream filling, modeled after my beloved Twinkies and Suzy-Q's! There wasn't a slice of cake left over by the end of the evening and my guests still rave about it.

Patty made an extra special surprise grooms cake for my husband who is an ironworker. She was very responsive throughout the whole process. She even sent me a sketch on what she was envisioning (a skyscraper skyline w/an ironworker sitting on a beam). The day of, my husband was shocked at how awesome it looked and showed it off to his fellow ironworkers at the wedding. I was impressed with how detailed and large the cake was! The next day, at a sunday brunch, we cut open the cake and it was delicious!!! It caught everyone by surprise that not only did it look awesome but it also tasted heavenly (carrot cake)! I did plenty of shopping around before deciding on Sweet P and it seemed that Patty was the most accessible in terms of her enthusiasm and competitive pricing. Through your research, you will find that there are many types of bakeries etc. in terms of quality and price. It was really important to me to have a quality piece of edible art and not a plain old cake. Sweet P Sweets is the way to go!
