From the moment my husband and I met Ross we knew we wanted him as our wedding photographer. In addition to sharing beautiful images from his previous weddings, he was professional, extremely responsive to our needs- offering useful suggestions based on our concerns- and his engaging personality made us very comfortable.
My husband hates taking photos- in all his childhood photos he has a stern frown- so making sure the photos weren't too posey and showed genuine happiness were critical to us. We loved everything Ross showed us and had a trial run when he did our engagement photos. He was incredibly flexible on that as well- we live in Maryland but married in Atlanta so he took our engagement photos while he was in town visiting Virginia. In planning meetings/ wedding timeline etc. via email we usually heard back within 24 hours.
Our engagement photos felt more like a fun date than an uncomfortable photo session. We looked like models and we are definitely not in front of the camera type people. But we were so relaxed and Ross' assistant/wife Brandi helped us shake the jitters quickly.
Ross' eye for amazing shots and detail is incredible. People continue to tell me my wedding photos are AMAZING (seriously the emails are always in capital letters). The photos are classy, elegant and natural looking. We were very concerned over photos taking too long between the ceremony and reception- Ross thoughtfully helped us create and most importantly stick to our timeline, and was even considerate of tricky family dynamics. We were actually early to our reception (that never happens at weddings I've attended)!!!
Since we booked him in June '07, his prices have gone up significantly given his contribution to an Oprah featured love story (if you have seen the frequently emailed photos of the guy in Atlanta who rented 10 rooms at the Ritz for an elaborate proposal to his girlfriend, Ross took those photos).
As of now, brides are booking 18 months in advance for busy season (May-Oct) all over the US, and Caribbean. I guarantee you, it is well worth the money. We opted not to get a videographer because we wanted to stay within budget but wanted Ross as our photographer and we have no regrets- we know these are photos our great-great grandchildren will be able to treasure.
