Powerhouse Community Arts Center

The Powerhouse was built in 1928 as the 'Powerhouse' for the city of Oxford, Mississippi. Its vintage style brick and spacious rooms with tall ceilings provide any couple with the ingredients to create a delightful celebration. Located on University Avenue, it's the venue that adapts to the vision for your special day. The Powerhouse features two spacious rooms. For smaller events, the Gallery may be reserved for a more intimate gathering or for larger events both rooms can be connected so your guests can mingle freely from room to room.

Both the Gallery and the Theatre are 40 feet by 60 feet and both have a ceiling height of 24 feet. We are able to hang decorations from the ceiling, such as chandeliers, paper lanterns, or flower arrangements. (Decorations are not provided.) The Theatre has a 24 by 20 stage that can be used for musicians or ceremonies. It also features dedicated power for musicians.

Each room can hold around 200 people seated and 400 standing. So for seated dinners and receptions we can host about 400 and for standing receptions we can host about 800 people.

We can host both weddings and wedding receptions (as well as showers, engagement parties and more!), and we can flip rooms after your ceremony so that you can have both rooms available for the reception.
