I dreamed of a beautiful beach wedding and boy did Picnic Aruba get it right!! Picnic Aruba did everything and more than we ever dreamed. From the first Zoom call, we knew we made the right choice. Jenna was absolutely fantastic! She made me feel beautiful on our special day and took care of us like we had been friends forever. Wow, Picnic Aruba was incredible! It exceeded all our expectations for our 10-year vow renewal. Everything—from the communication and photos to the cake, champagne, pricing, and overall experience—earned a perfect 10 out of 10. Absolutely AMAZING! This was the best experience that I could have asked for. They were seamless to work with. Made everything so easy. This was absolutely my dream wedding because of them! Everything was STUNNING!!! :)

It will be a day to always remember. The staff helped make our day perfect. They were so fun and quick to do anything we asked. Their fun and bubbly personalities meshed well with ours for such a fun experience.

Unfortunately, this proposal experience was not at all what I would have chosen for such an important moment.

My fiancé paid about $1,000, including a photographer, for what was supposed to be a beautiful, romantic beach proposal.

Before the event, Picnic Aruba sent us a photo showing a gorgeous setup directly on the sand with the ocean and sunset behind the couple. The message said, “this is the beach,” so naturally we expected a picturesque, open beachfront setting.

I want to be fair: Picnic Aruba did take a photo of us from essentially the same angle as the promotional image, and from that specific framed view, the ocean backdrop looked similar. However, that one angle did not show the full surroundings.

We had also specifically requested that our photos not be posted publicly or shared on social media because we keep our personal images private. Therefore, I will not post that particular photo here, and I expect our privacy request to continue to be respected.

The promotional image did not show what was to the left, right, behind, or along the approach to the setup. The actual surroundings included large trees, landscaping, a restaurant/pier, boats, docks, paved areas, and people swimming nearby. In my personal opinion, the overall area felt much more like a marina or lagoon-style waterfront than the open, picturesque beach I expected for my proposal.

I understand the location may technically be classified as a beach. My issue is not whether there is sand or ocean there — it is that the single promotional angle did not give us a complete picture of the setting.

Had we been shown a current wide-angle photo or a 360-degree view beforehand, we absolutely would not have selected this location.

The proposal setup itself also felt tacky and underwhelming to me. There was a speaker sitting on the sand, champagne in a bucket, and a large heart in the sand saying “Will you marry me?” We could see the entire setup from far away as we approached, so the surprise was essentially gone before the proposal happened.

For approximately $1,000, including professional photography, we expected much more for such a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

I also showed the promotional photo and wider pictures of the actual surroundings to the manager at our hotel. He was very surprised by how different the full surroundings looked compared with the framed image we had been shown.

Another part of this experience that made me uncomfortable happened afterward. I was offered a partial refund but was asked to sign an agreement that included restrictions on leaving a review and seeking the remaining refund. I did not feel comfortable agreeing to that.

In my opinion, a customer should not have to give up the ability to honestly share their experience in exchange for a goodwill refund. Being asked to sign such an agreement made me feel as though I was being asked to stay quiet rather than simply having my concerns addressed.

We traveled all the way from San Francisco to Aruba specifically because my fiancé wanted to surprise me with a proposal and create a memory we would cherish forever. He spent approximately $12,000 on our vacation to make the trip special, plus another $1,000 on the proposal and photographer.

That is why this was so heartbreaking. This was not just another vacation activity. The trip was centered around creating a meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime proposal.

We stayed at JOIA Aruba by Iberostar near Eagle Beach, which was absolutely beautiful. Seeing that gorgeous, wide-open beachfront made us wish even more that our proposal had taken place somewhere similar.

Other people may genuinely love Picnic Aruba's location, and I respect that. This is simply my personal experience and opinion. It was just not remotely what I personally would have chosen for my proposal.

My strongest advice to anyone considering booking: ask for a current 360-degree view of the exact location, or visit it yourself beforehand if possible. Do not make your decision based solely on one beautifully framed angle.
