Catholic weddings, on the historic campus of Salve Regina University, are celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island. The stunning chapel, designed by the architected firm Robert A. M. Stern, will engage your guests in celebrating your love as it is consecrated and sealed in the Rites of the Catholic Church. Before God’s altar, the priest or deacon, and the Church, you will pledge your love to each other in the bond of life-long fidelity. This is the beginning of your journey together through life in the Sacrament of Marriage.

Searching for a Catholic chapel in Newport as an out of towner is not easy. I am so glad we landed with Our Lady of Mercy. The coordinator, Diane, helped us get a time in a busy wedding season and was incredibly helpful in the process leading up to the wedding. She was very organized and helpful in coordinating parking, photos, etc. The chapel itself is stunning, and we worked with the musicians there who were also wonderful. We were not Salve alumni but it was important to us to find an open, welcoming Catholic community in Newport at which to perform this sacrament, and Our Lady of Mercy was the perfect fit.Sent on 05/15/2017

Our Lady of Mercy is a beautiful chapel to have a wedding and the grounds are amazing too. It’s nice how the pews surround the altar so no one feels too far. Everyone who we worked with at the chapel was very friendly and responsive. They let you take photos at Ochre Court if it’s not being used that day but they only let you put in a request 30 days before the wedding. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to take photos there because we weren’t willing to wait that long only to be told no and not have anywhere else. The only other thing is that the coordinator stood at the door as my dad and I walked down the aisle so she is in all of our photos. But overall we are really blessed that we were able to have our ceremony here.Sent on 05/09/2015
