Hello and welcome, my fellow makeup lovers and those who dabble! I’m so happy you found your way here. I figured, before we move any further in our budding relationship, we should get to know each other a little better.

My name is Nicole Rodriguez, Air Force-wife to Kenneth Rodriguez, and proud mama of Cole and Olivia. My family is the life-blood of my business, and one of the major reasons I became a solo make-up artist in the first place. I wanted to be able to watch my children grow-up, while still being able to pursue my own passion. I was raised in Honolulu, but moved back and forth between Hawai’i and California as a young adult.

As an island girl, makeup wasn’t always part of my daily life. To be honest, I didn’t wear make-up until I was in my 20’s and living in a bougie neighborhood where I felt I had to dress my face up more than I already was. But once I started wearing make-up, I couldn’t believe the way it made me feel. I was…powerful, confident, ready to take on the world with my glossy lips and bold brows. I would browse Instagram for hours finding and recreating my favorite looks based on the pictures. There were barely any tutorials, but I made it work, and that’s when I realized that doing makeup brought me such a rush of joy that I had to have found it… my passion.

Not long after my discovery, a mom at the pediatric office I worked at complimented my make-up and asked me if I could teach her how to do the same to her face. I was absolutely surprised and felt highly unqualified for a job like that, and I told her as much. Luckily for me, she didn’t care about my insecurity and lack of confidence. I ended up working with her, teaching her how to do her make-up in any and every way she wanted. I would give her lessons and go shopping for all of her make-up needs. It was a dream come true, and I decided that I wanted to jump all in and become a trained make-up artist.

I worked at MAC in Hawai’i, where I became a certified make-up artist. Almost a year after finding my footing at MAC, I met my husband and we started our family together. Once I became a mom, I realized I didn’t want to be working at a make-up counter anymore. Thus, began my journey into freelance work doing bridal makeup, prom looks, and working on photo shoots. Through these experiences I encountered so many amazing women who would tell me they wished they could look like this every day. I told them they could, but of course they insisted they could never learn how to do it. While I had a passion for doing makeup, I didn’t just want to be a makeup artist who helped women feel beautiful for a day; I wanted to help women learn how to make themselves feel beautiful every day.

Makeup is such a controversial tool, but it really is just that: a tool. I see it as a way to build confidence, and I have found that once women find that confidence, they are unstoppable. Helping empower women by enhancing the beauty that’s already there is my mission.

Moving to Clovis, NM was a big change for me and my family, but, as I’m sure many of you know, it’s the life of a military wife. While I miss the sandy beaches of Hawai’i, Clovis has blessed my family with the opportunity to fulfill a dream… opening N & Co. Studio. I envision a place that women can come together, get pampered, feel beautiful, and empower one another. I am proud to support and carry other female entrepreneurs’ amazing products in the studio, which you can check out when you come by! This is my first time opening a brick and mortar makeup studio, and I could not be more thankful, excited, nervous, and simultaneously ready and completely unprepared. It is sure to be an incredible journey.
