When Michi Shin opened Michi in the early 1990s, he began creating innovative Japanese cuisine, including sushi and other non-traditional items, for the greater Silicon Valley. Due to the relationships, Chef Michi has fostered, the brand sources its products from all over the world: Japan, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Canada, Korea, and more. Michi has been nominated for several awards & accolades within the greater Northern California food scene and we're ultimately featured in the Wall Street Journal. Through a cult-like following, Michi was able to develop as the Bay Area’s top Asian-American catering and event groups. Venue Partners include: Holman Ranch (Carmel), Nestldown (Los Gatos) and many of the top local wineries, such as Thomas Fogarty (Woodside), Regale (Los Gatos), Black-Ridge (Los Gatos), and several more.

Michi has been residing and raising his three children with his wife Hope in Los Gatos for the last twenty years. Constantly evolving, Michi has had several restaurant locations in Campbell, San Jose, the Mountain Winery, and most recently, at Casino M8trix in San Jose.

The business has been passed down from generation to generation: from Mr. Michi Shin to Mike Shin (Michi’s first son) and now to Raphael (Michi’s middle son). Having the opportunity to implement a generational aspect is a major key to allowing Michi to constantly offer a superior product & service of Asian-American fare to its clients.
