About
My name is John Scarpa. I have been a professional photographer for the past four years. I work for the Courier News, Life Touch, a high school year book publisher and I freelance as a wedding and fashion photographer.
I began my career in photography working at my high school newspaper. My assignments included photographing sports, school news, and student portraits. On one of assignments I met a photographer who worked for the Courier News. He asked to see my work and offered me a freelance position with the Courier News. Since that time my pictures have been published on a regular basis in the newspaper.
Several months later I was contacted by my high school librarian who was in a bind and needed additional candid student photos for our high school year book. Shortly after submitting my images I received a call from Life Touch the company contracted to complete the year book. They had asked me if I would be interested in continuing to photograph my fellow high school students. I accepted their offer and now photograph three area high schools.
Last year my pictures were noticed by the owner of Liar Liar Jeans a designer apparel company. I am one two photographers Joel uses for his fashion shoots. I have been on assignments for Liar Liar Jeans all over New York and New Jersey. My last shoot included models from Vouge magazine.
I am a member of the National Press Photographers Association and The New Jersey Press Association.
So there you have it, that's my life so far in photography. Some of my images can be seen at my website JohnScarpa.net
