Our Story
To GOD be the Glory! Hannibal and Kellie were scheduled to meet three years prior to their actual meeting. We believe that GOD kept us from one another for a specific reason. This allowed us to continue to improve as people, as a son and daughter, brother and sister, friend and colleague but none more important than a believer in Jesus Christ. During those three years there were often inquiries about each other and one's availability; however, that time allowed us to continue developing our personal relationship with our Lord and Savior.
Rob Brown and Lori Adams were best friends. Rob and Hannibal were friends, co-workers and brothers in Christ. Lori and Kellie were friends, former roomates and sisters in Christ. Rob was the one who suggested that we meet and spoke to Lori about arranging the introduction. It just so happened that Kellie was in town and Lori wanted to visit her friend Rob. Rob called Hannibal and informed him that Kellie was in town and would like to meet. Hannibal in disbelief, initially brushed it off and continued watching the ball game. Rob knowing he had to seize the moment, quickly called Kellie on three way and conferenced everyone in. Kellie with her quick witted humor informed Hannibal that she was going to Rob's house and that he better be there or he would owe her some gas money because gas was about $4/gallon.
Hannibal and Kellie finally met at Rob's house on August 25, 2007. Initially if felt like all eyes were on Hannibal and Kellie to see if there were any sparks. Kellie introduced herself to everyone and quickly became a part of the family. Her warm and charming personality helped her fit right in, along with the other guests. As the evening proceeded, everyone was still shocked that Hannibal and Kellie had barely spoken. As a little more time passed and folks began to assemble around the pool, Hannibal and Kellie sat next to each other and began to converse. Next thing we know everyone began to go back inside as if this were a setup. Hannibal and Kellie remained outside and talked for a few hours. Looking back over our shoulders, we could see some of the Brown family and guests looking out the window to see what was happening. This is was where it all started!
At the end of the evening Hannibal asked Kellie if he could call her sometime and they exchanged numbers. When Kellie finally called Hannibal back, he invited her out for a jog. Seeing each other for the first time on our own felt nice. Nobody watching or wondering what was going to happen next. We then proceeded to go to Kings Dominion that Saturday and then Hannibal invited Kellie to attend church service with him on Sunday. After that Kellie, Lori and Hannibal all went out to eat at Georgia Brown's in Washington D.C. The friendship and relationship began to blossom each and every day as the two became inseperable. As the visits grew longer and longer so did the conversations on the phone. Kellie made it clear up front that she was not into playing games and did not want to waste her time. Hannibal thought it was a little forward but agreed that if we were going to try and develop a relationship they both had to give 100%. Communication is key so instead of assuming that we knew what each other wanted, she made it clear. Either we are working on something serious or we are just friends.
So many good times have happened and so many memories shared. Rob and his wife Vicki were going to celebrate Rob's birthday down in Miami, Florida. They asked us to travel with them. Hannibal not one who likes to take off work was convinced by Kellie that we needed to take a vacation. Hannibal spoke to Rob about proposing to Kellie that weekend if the ring came back in time. Hannibal asked Rob for his blessing since his birthday was the reason we were heading out of town to begin with and out of respect for the occassion. Rob of course was almost as excited as Hannibal and said "Yes, I want my 10%". Hannibal also had to receive her father's blessing. The ring did show up and in a last minute dash, Hannibal drove to her father's house to receive his blessing the day before they were to scheduled to leave. Vicki was still left in the dark as Rob was asked to keep it a secret. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Resort in Key Biscayne, Florida. The place was absolutely gorgeous and the setting was perfect for a proposal. On Saturday, June 14, 2008, Hannibal got on one knee and proposed to Kellie in the privacy of their room before we were to head out to South Beach with Rob and Vicki for a nice dinner. Thank God, Kellie said "YES". A few minutes later Rob and Vicki came down to find out the news and were equally as excited and Rob's 40th birthday celebration also turned into Hannibal and Kellie's engagement celebration.
We called a few family and friends to share the good news and everyone was equally excited. Hannibal was thankful to Rob for allowing him to propose during his birthday celebration but more importantly for introducing him to Kellie.Rob was someone we wanted to share this moment with and were thankful we had the opportunity. This will be a day to be remember, as the initial meeting that almost never took place, has now been turned into the day that Hannibal and Kellie will become husband and wife. This is something the Lord has made and we hope that you all will rejoice and be glad in it, as we know and believe the best is yet to come. To GOD be the glory! A special thanks to our parents, family, friends, pastors old and new and all of those who have prayed with us and for us over the years. We know that this is not something that we've done on our own and we hope that when you see us, that you actually see "Christ" in us by the way we live our lives. We give our Lord and Savior, all the Honor, Glory and Praise for he is an awesome GOD and worthy to be praised.
