The Pratie Heads (made up of two musicians: http://pratieheads.com/) were the only musician vendors in our area with a reasonable enough price to let us have live music during our wedding ceremony. They charge a very reasonable hourly fee, and for a small additional charge, they even learned an entire new song to accompany my walk down the aisle!
Their repertoire is quite large and varied; we opted for classical string music before and after the ceremony but we have also heard them play some VIBRANT Irish music at a friend's wedding reception.
Jane and Bob are friendly, very professional, and certainly talented. They were very easy to work with and added a unique feel to our day with that special song. We are most appreciative and would reccomend them to anyone! -

The Pratieheads are really awesome. They were able to provide an amazing service at a fraction of the cost. They were also very professional and able to cope with last minute changes. I can't thank them enough. -

I've given Jane from Wedding Music in North Carolina 5 out of 5 for good reason. She was _really_ a pleasure to work with, and great vendors make a great wedding--great in the logistics department at least. Obviously they can't help with annoying in-laws or making it not rain or other areas of potential wedding disaster!
Jane was the first vendor I hired, and I did it on faith, because I had never actually seen her or Mappamundi or Pratie Heads play at a wedding or a concert. I stumbled across her website by accident long before I was planning my wedding, and when we set our date, she was the first person I looked up. I liked her style, and her assurance that she COULD help us find something that worked in our budget (which was fairly small--around $2000 but for a small group--about 35 people). Seriously, if I could give her a 6 out of 5 for value I would.
I had also heard a recording of her singing "Our Love is Here to Stay," and I knew that was it! I could just imagine that voice singing that song at our wedding!
Jane and the other two musicians were very flexible, working with our tiny, chaotic wedding. She might have been an ideal musician; I might not have been an ideal client! Although Jane and I had planned out the processional and recessional music ahead of time, I didn't actually plan out who was going to process and recess when, but between Jane, the minister and my sister-in-law, it worked (although I wouldn't recommend trying that at home)! Everyone had music!
She was up for my eclectic musical challenges--a mixture of American standards/swing/jazz (Frank Sinatra) during lunch and English Country Dance (think the stuff they do in Jane Austen movies) after lunch. We were lucky, because Jane has prior experience playing for ECD. They even learned a song that we requested be sung during the ceremony. Really, for the price I paid, I would not have been surprised if she had said that they couldn't learn special music.
I would MOST recommend her if you are having a casual wedding, if you like acoustic music, if you like world music or old American standards, or Jewish, Celtic...etc in that strain. Even if you are looking for something else, I would still recommend contacting her, because I bet she could help you figure something out! -
