I came across the Facebook page for Theme Cakes By Joelene after a friend posted pictures of a cake Joelene made for her. It was for her child's birthday and was adorable! I asked who made it and she put me in touch with Joelene! When I first started talking with her she was making cakes at her home as a hobby but by the time the wedding came she had actually opened her own cakery! I had a chance to see it and it's so cute! Anyway, she said she'd love to make my wedding cake and asked me to send her some pictures to give her some ideas of what I was looking for. She was so kind and seemed excited every time I sent her something I liked! In the mean time I ordered a birthday cake for my now husband and she gave me some cupcakes to try different flavors. The cake and cupcakes were the most delicious I have ever tasted!! The week before the wedding I went to meet with her to finalize all of the details. I had some leftover decorations from some of my DIY wedding projects so I asked her if they were something she thought she'd ever use. She said yes so I gave them to her. We finalized the design based on a picture of a cake I saw and loved and she said she would get it all together and deliver it to the country club (which we had discussed prior to her opening her new shop.) We decided to do a faux 3 tier cake and sheet cakes to serve (which the venue actually loved, too) because I read it could save a little money which is tight when planning a wedding! The next day she called and asked for my permission to use her artistic abilities because the flowers in the picture I showed her just weren't doing it justice. I said of course and didn't see it until we walked into our reception. I was amazed at how beautiful it was! She even used some of the decorations I gave her and it matched my centerpieces! And of course it tasted delicious!! Sorry for the long review but I wanted to make sure everyone knows how much I loved working with Joelene and how delicious her cakes are!
