We were pulling together a sort-of-spontaneous second wedding. Sugarbaker's does wonderful cakes and I knew I wanted to use them. We had some trouble connecting; several emails were exchanged before I actually got to talk to someone. Their hours are not very convenient for a working bride (9-5); however, once they heard that we needed a simple round cake for <40 people, they informed me that I need not have an 'interview' with the wedding cake consultant (which presumably includes taste testing and complex cake design). I was able to stop by on a Saturday morning, pick my cake, filling and icing (chocolate/chocolate mousse/German buttercream).
The cake was a 12" which supposedly serves 35 but easily served all 40 guests with left overs. The cake was lovely to look at with natural flowers in my wedding colors (orange and yellow) and little dots of yellow on the sides of the cake. Very contemporary and very in keeping with my low key wedding. Just perfect. Guests LOVED the cake's taste.
Things I'd change:
I do wish that when I chose the German buttercream (trying to achieve a taste from childhood and my German Nana's cakes) they had warned me that the icing would set rather solidly in the fridge (the next day) and needed to reach room temperature before it was appealing to eat. (There is lard in a German buttercream).
While the round cake was more 'special' (more "bride-y" as they said), it was harder to cut neatly. I would do a square/rectangular cake for an informal wedding like ours.

SugarBakers makes such delicious cake! Our wedding cake was 3 layers, 1 red velvet and 2 amaretto raspberry, and it was all so good! The cake was decorated beautifully too, it looked just like the design that we had discussed.

From the inital consultation to the final product, everything was wonderful! I was always able to contact someone and voice my opinions. They took what I asked and made it my cake. Not only that, it was DELICIOUS! I am so looking forward to the free 1st year anniversary cake they provide.

The xcake was deliscious. Evryone that attended the reception talked about how good the cake was. I still had cake left and bought some to work after our honeymoon. It was still fresh two weeks after the ceremony. I can't wait until our anniversary, because they will bake a complimentary cake to celebrate.

We designed our cake with Sugarbakers and it turned out SO beautiful! It was perfect. In addition to the look of the cake being perfect, it was the best tasting wedding cake I have ever had - we got the almond w/raspberry. Sugarbakers is a little more expensive than some places we looked, but it is SO WORTH IT. You will not find a more moist cake in Baltimore.

This cake is heaven! Guest are still talking about it ....some even have a saved piece in their freezer. They don't want to let go. hahaha. Sugarbakers was easy to work with and provided me with what I asked. After tasting their cake the first time I didn't even care what my cake look like. Lucky for me their designs are great as well. ;-)

Our Sugar Bakers cake came as a part of our catering package with Atlantic Caterers. The cake tasted GREAT! Our guests talked about how great the cake tasted! I was personally surprised at how moist the cake was. My experience with wedding cakes has been that they tend to be dry. I know I am biased but I thought it was the best wedding cake I have ever tasted!! The look of the cake was classic and beautiful!

We selected a cake through our Caterer so we did not get to taste what we selected before hand. At our tasting for the caterer they had many items to taste but what we wanted was not there. We selected a vanilla cake with a peanut butter and fudge layer....and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!! All of our guests were impressed and complimented on the cake several times. Simply delicious.

Excellent design selections. The flavor selections are absolutely amazing. Their signature flavor amaretto raspberry was something out of this world. Had many compliments on the look and taste of the wedding cake. Highly recommend them.

I don't generally like the taste of wedding cake, but SugarBakers is delicious!
My mother is in the wedding business and I have tasted countless wedding and bar mitzvah cakes. SugarBakers takes all cakes! We selected the red velvet, amaretto and carrot cakes.
Also, I showed SugarBakers a picture from a magazine for my wedding cake. They did an amazing job replicating the picture and it was less expensive than the magazine quoted. The picture I showed them had real orchids on them, and I guess they thought that I wanted those too, so they made them out of sugar!! It was beautiful, delicious and looked very classy.
I strongly recommend SugarBakers!

SugarBakers did a great job with our cake. From the moment we met with them for the initial consultation we knew they were it. Despite having very different ideas of what we wanted for the cake, my husband and I came to a great compromise with the help of SugarBakers and got both of our favorite flavors. SugarBakers was on-time, answered phone calls, easy to work with and the cake arrived freshly baked and exactly like we wanted. An added bonus: they bake you a fresh top layer for your one year anniversay...no frozen year-old cake for us!

We used Sugar bakers for our wedding. My husband and I did a tasting a 6 months before. The cake was very good. I took my mom their about 2 months before the wedding to show her the bakery and buy a treat. They were a little rude at the counter and when i asked to look over my cake details to finalize, they seemed put out. I did finalize my cake that day with my mom. The day of the wedding...The cake was beautiful and very good, but it wasn't what we ordered at all. When I called to ask them, they said they had no other record than when i was thier with my husband the first time. they offered me a $25.00 gift certificate (cake cost $650) I was incredibly disapointed on how they handled my cake mess up. I didn't take them up on the gift card. I felt is was incredibly cheap and a slap in the face. Im not sure if I'd ever use them again. I did like my cake, my florist (flower follies, she is extrodinary!) made the cake look beautiful with fresh flowers, but i was very disappointed in the "after the wedding" conversatations with sugarbakers.

Sugarbakers is awesome. We loved the look of our cake and it tasted fantastic. I am not a cake person but I LOVE the cake from Sugarbakers. The cake is moist and the icing is to die for. They were extremely professional and flexible to work with. I had changed my mind regarding the design of my cake during my initial consultation and they were more than happy to change the decoration around so as to meet my expectations. We got numerous compliments on the cake from the guests that attended the wedding. Looking forward to our anniversary layer we get from them on our one year anniversary!
