Joy is an AMAZING makeup artist!! She has such a warm and fun personality that made me instantly feel comfortable. My wedding day makeup looked FLAWLESS. I got SO many compliments and I have never felt more beautiful! I added extra time for a small fee and she was able to stay until my ceremony to do touch ups at my venue. Given the fact that I'm a cryer and my husband and I were doing a first look, the peace of mind that came with knowing she was there to make me pretty again before my ceremony was PRICELESS. Joy was so much fun to work with!

Wonderful!!! I stumbled ulin joy after a disasterous trial with a salon and a quick google search led me to her! We set a trial that I used as my engagement photo makeup...and then did another trial for the wedding. I could not have asked for a more talented make up artist! The day of the wedding my hair was done, and Joy did my makeup...when I saw myself in the mirror I started to cry because I looked amazing...like every bride dreams. Make up stayed picture perfect through the tears from vows, and dancing craziness to follow. There is no one better! Thank you for making my day so special! A beautiful soul and a talented artist!!!

I loved working with Joy. She has a great personality, is polite, professional and fun! And she made me feel absolutely beautiful for my wedding day. I was a bit worried about my wedding day makeup as on the day-to-day I hardly wear any makeup at all... and it was important to me that I feel like myself, but I also wanted to feel special and more done up! Joy took my requests and delivered exceptionally. I loved my makeup and she also listened to my bridesmaids', mother's and mother in law's requests and make them look beautiful as well. Thank you Joy!

I am so grateful to have had Joy apply my makeup for my wedding day! Not only is her technique exceptional, but her bubbly personality made you feel at ease knowing you were in such talented hands. On the morning of my wedding, she traveled a half hour to my house to apply makeup to 11 ladies in my bridal party, as well as myself. With the help of her assistant, Jenny, she was able to apply our makeup earlier than we had originally planned, which allowed us to have plenty of time to eat, relax, and travel to the church for the ceremony. Joy was a rock star! I would highly recommend her!

State of Face did an amazing job! Everyone looked great on our big day. They were professional and easy to work with and collaborated with the bride and bridesmaids to make them look how they wanted to look. We would definitely recommend them to others.

Choosing Joy as our makeup artist was one of the best decisions I made during the wedding planning process. She came to our hotel at 8 in the morning and airbrushed the whole wedding party. We all looked and felt gorgeous! She is extremely talented, and super easy to work with. Very professional but was still joking around with us, she was just like one of the girls :) My makeup looked flawless all day long. I have never felt so beautiful! Joy truly is the best, I absolutely recommend her services!

When I first met Joy during my trial we quickly bonded over our love for dogs. I showed her pictures of looks I liked and through the trial I quickly realized that was not the look for me, thank goodness for trials. We tweaked the look and the end result was beautiful. All of my bridesmaids raved about their make-up and how much they liked it which says A LOT because a few of them complained about past experiences of having their make-up professionally done and not liking it. One of my bridesmaids even said the day of her wedding her make-up artist made her cry she disliked her make-up so much and had to redo it all herself, but she loved the look Joy gave her :) The airbrush make-up that she used gave me a flawless look the whole day. She also gave me extra lip color to touch up throughout the day which was amazing! I wasn’t feeling very well while getting ready that morning and was upset that I wasn’t feeling 100% on my special day. When it was my turn for my make-up things in the hotel suite were getting a bit chaotic with all of the vendors showing up and extra family around. Joy took charge and asked everyone to go into the attached room, she changed the music to something relaxing, and let me close my eyes and try to relax. I appreciated her doing this and it really helped me to feel better. My flower girl was not getting make-up done but witnessed me getting my make-up done and was really intrigued by the whole process. She is only 3 so mom did not want her having her make-up done, but Joy offered “princess lip gloss” and she just LOVED this. It was so adorable. Thank you Joy for making us all look and feel beautiful!

I cannot say enough good things about Joy from State of Face Artistry! She is such a talented artist, very professional, kind, and it was simply a joy to have her part of our special day. I did a trial with her about 8 months before and she worked with me to give me the exact look I wanted. I do not wear very much makeup and was nervous about airbrush and false lashes and all I can say is: if Joy says it will look good, DO IT! I had a small touch-up with her before the ceremony, but other than that my makeup was flawless until 2 am! Whatever look you want for your special day, Joy can make it happen and it will look better than you ever could have imagined.

Joy was a superb Make up Artist for our wedding day! She did a practice run with me and was willing to keep changing it until it was exactly what I was looking for and then made detailed notes so that they day of she was able to recreate it flawlessly! She showed up ahead of schedule and had extra time left over to do touch ups on everyone. Furthermore, my mom completely changed her mind about what she wanted done and Joy was wiling to redo her make up until she felt comfortable. She did a phenomenal job and I would recommend her to anyone looking!

I was a bit of a difficult bride, never had my makeup done, full of insecurities, and unsure how exactly I wanted to look. Joy put me at ease, immediately. We did two trials, at my request, only because I was so conflicted about how i "should" look. Both times Joy did an amazing job and listened closely to me. By the second look, I was SO comfortable and happy and just couldn't wait for the big day.

On the wedding day, I was shocked and amazed that my makeup stayed on ALL DAY LONG. We did pictures early, so i was in makeup from 2pm til midnight, and it looked amazing the whole time. I just loved it. Heck, i'd use Joy again just for a fun night out! :)

Hi Ladies,
I tried 3 different makeup artists before I met Joy. I normally wear makeup so I was not looking for a very natural look but I still wanted an "elegant wedding feel." I have acne scars. Joy had me covered without looking orange, or overdone. She is fabulous!! She is artistic and skilled at her craft. The day of my wedding she showed up early, ran on time with a large bridal party, never made me feel rushed, accepted feedback and special requests from all the maids/moms, and was very patient with the group. She is fun and keeps the conversation going (which was fun to see in the wedding video!) She helped make me feel beautiful and I thank her. Would 100% recommend!

Joy is a fantastic make up artist! She did my moms, bridesmaids, jr bridesmaids and of course my make up for my Oct 10th wedding. Joy is very professional and down to earth. My bridesmaids, jr bridemaids and mom looked gorgeous. They were all very happy with their make-up.
For myself I was beyond happy. I have never felt more gorgeous then I did on my wedding day.

Joy is amazing. She airbrushed me and my bridesmaids for my wedding and everyone looked so gorgeous! She also gave us a touchup kit to use the rest of the day, which was a nice "touch" ha!

Joy did an absolutely amazing job for my 8/3/13 wedding! She made my 7 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and myself look so beautiful. I was receiving compliments all night about how great my makeup looked. She really captured my vision and everyone was very pleased. I really liked that everyone was able to get airbrush and lashes included in the total package. I would definitely recommend Joy for a wedding or special event. I will be using her services again when I need professional makeup!

Joy at State of Face is a true genius! I hired her to do my makeup and my bridal party's makeup for my wedding. She made my already beautiful bridesmaids look stunning and flawless. She used airbrush foundation and false lashes to complete the look and make their eyes pop in photos. My makeup was absolutely perfect - and I'm a control freak with my makeup as I've been doing my own for years as well as friends and family, so I knew what I wanted and wouldn't have settled for less than perfect makeup. Well guess what, she delivered exactly that! My eyes were beautiful and the false lashes were perfectly (and comfortably) placed. My skin was flawless and the makeup was so light and comfortable. Joy is a professional, talented, sweet, artistic person and I highly recommend her for all of your makeup needs. She truly is a gem!

I had Joy do makeup for me, my four bridesmaids, and the two moms for my July 7, 2012 wedding. Joy was fantastic to work with and here's why:

1) It was 103-106 degrees the day of my wedding, the A/C was not working 100% at our venue the day of our reception, my bridesmaids, the moms and I all danced in the heat almost the entire reception, and our make-up was still perfect at the end of the day! I usually sweat through everything, and Joy's make-up stayed.

2) She was fun to work with. We had a Disney sing-along while we got ready, and she and our hairdresser told us about some of their crazier experiences working weddings (ask her--they are funny!).

3) She was happy to adjust the make-up for my style. I don't wear much makeup, and in the trial, she started me with darker and heavier make-up than I was comfortable with. She adjusted it during the trial, and it was much better, but still a bit darker than I liked. For the day of my wedding, it was perfect. I looked like me, just a little fancier--exactly as I wanted!

4) My mom was skeptical about having her make-up done and when I told her Joy would include lashes for all of us in the package, her first reaction was "I don't want those." When Joy applied the lashes for me at the trial, my mom's opinion changed. She loved the lashes and the make-up as a whole. She looked gorgeous for the wedding. She has already booked Joy to do her make-up for my brother's wedding.

5) My 17-year-old sister was one of my MOHs. Joy gave her a beautiful age-appropriate look.

6) Joy gave all the bridesmaids a cohesive look while still being sensitive to what type of make-up made each woman comfortable and look her best.

7) Joy is professional, responsive, arrived on time (maybe even a little early), and finished early. I did a lot of researching and her prices are very competitive.

I really loved working with Joy, and I look forward to having her do my make-up again for my brother's wedding.

Joy did my make up for all 3 of my events absolutely perfectly! She knew exactly what I wanted and met my needs and expectations 100%. She understands the colorfulness of indian weddings, and was able to incorporate stunning eyes that really brought out the colors of the outfits. She and her team were able to handle 1 bride, 11 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and 3 other people in 3 hours! Everyone, including myself was very satisfied. I truly recommend her!

I contacted Joy in november and scheduled my trial later that week. She finds out what you want and its not about how she wants you to look. Words cannot express about happy I am that I went with joy. She made me and my bridesmaids feel amazing on my special day!!!

Joy did an excellent job! She made me, my bridesmaids and my mother (who had never worn makeup before) look flawless and Gorgeous. One of my bridesmaid actually said after Joy was finished with her "I have never felt more beautiful in my life". Joy also created a fun atmosphere while doing our makeup. Don't believe when she says that she doesn't like 90s pop because she was singing to every 90s pop song that was playing on Pandora :) I wish I had another event where she could doll me up again...

Joy, from State of Face, is an amazing makeup artist! She made my girls, my mom, and me look stunning! I loved, loved, loved the air brush foundation and it stayed on all night! Joy was able to give me the dramatic Hollywood movie star look I wanted with red lips and purple eye shadow! But give my bridesmaids the more natural look they wanted! She also made my 65 year old mom look 20 years younger, and she felt so beautiful she danced the night away! Joy was able to do a wide range of make-up needs and make EVERYONE look amazing!

Joy was wonderful! I decided a week and a half before my wedding that I wanted airbrush makeup! She fit me in for the consultation within a few days and was able to make arrangements for my wedding day. The makeup lasted all day and I had so many compliments on my makeup...the most important being my husband! He met me at the end of the isle and his first words were, "you look beautiful!" Enough said!

Joy at State of Face did a fantastic job for my wedding on 4/28. She did the make up for my entire bridal party and both mothers. We all loved how we looked and loved her! Joy was AMAZING to work with. She made us girls looks absolutely stunning and everyone is still saying how gorgeous we looked. Joy did a wonderful job. She actually worked around a trip she had planned in order to take care of 1 bride, 8 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and 2 flower girls!!!! My sister-in-law used her for her wedding and I knew after that experience I wanted to use her for my own. Everyone was very happy

Our time spent with Joy having our makeup done was the perfect early afternoon activity. Joy has such a wonderful warm and friendly demeanor and is so much fun to spend time with. My daughters wedding was at 5:30 pm. Joy arrived at our home at 11:30am and did my makeup, both my daughters and my neighbor. Wow- best decision I ever made. I worried that it might not last all evening before my daughter had her trial run. Our makeup Looked just as good at 11:30 pm as it did when she completed the job. It really helped us to relax and enjoy our pre-wedding time and we had so many complements! Your special day will be blessed even more if you choose Joy to do your makeup. She is incredibly talented and you will LOVE the results!!!!

I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Joy. She did an absolutely amazing job on the makeup for me and my entire bridal party for my recent wedding. I know that a few of my bridesmaids were nervous about having their make up done, but after seeing the amazing job that Joy did during my trial, they all decided to have their make up done on the big day and they were all thrilled with the finished product. Besides doing a great job, Joy was a pleasure to work with! She is really down to earth and easy to get along with. I absolutely loved working with Joy and her crew! I had a large bridal party and she was very accommodating with my needs. My bridal party consisted of myself, the bride, 8 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and 3 flower girls. She was so patient with all of us and really made my wedding day go smoothly! The three flower girls loved the extra glitter she put on their faces too! I was so worried about time and getting everything done on time, and she definitely took that stress off of my shoulders! The girls and I all loved our fake lashes (which really made our eyes stand out in pictures) and the touch-up kits she provided. I now have quite a few friends getting married and everyone wants to know who to see for their makeup. If you like the convenience of someone coming to you to "pamper" you and make you beautiful for your wedding, I HIGHLY recommend Joy and State of Face Artistry. I am so glad I chose her for my wedding, and if I ever need anything like this in the future, will go right back! Joy is awesome!! She is sweet and makes you really relaxed while getting your makeup done. My makeup looked great the entire day (which was around 14 hours!). Joy listened to what I had in mind and made suggestions that would complement my skin tone. She even made me a lip gloss in my own personal shade to go, so that I could touch up throughout the day. I highly recommend getting airbrushed; my makeup was flawless the entire day and looked very natural. Joy was an absolute pleasure to work with. She has an amazing personality and as a newlywed, herself, she has an incredible way of putting brides at ease and making them feel beautiful and confident on their big day. She arrived early on my wedding day to allow extra time in case any of my bridesmaids changed their minds and decided to have their makeup done too. Of course, two of my girls saw how beautiful my mom's makeup looked that they jumped at the chance to have theirs done at the last minute, and Joy was prepared. As for my makeup, I brought a picture that was totally different from what we had done at my trial, and Joy was not only willing but excited to run with my less traditional idea. It turned out better than I expected. All day and evening long, I was overwhelmed by compliments, people telling me how beautiful I looked and not how beautiful my makeup looked. My makeup was done before 11 am, and after hours of hugging, kissing, dancing, sweating, and a LOT of tears, my makeup still looked great when I got back to my hotel room at 2 am! I would recommend Joy in a heartbeat and can't wait to use her for my next special occasion!

Joy was amazing! She did the makeup for my wedding, which included myself, my mother, and five out of seven bridesmaids. Joy was a complete dear to work with - professional, yet very nice, and she was willing to get up early and start as soon as we needed her to. Most of my bridesmaids party was made up of tomboys who don't wear makeup on a regular basis. But when Joy worked her magic we all looked perfect! The photographer couldn't get enough of the girls faces - there were hardly any pictures of the guys! We all got complements on our makeup, eyelashes, blush, etc. We would not have looked nearly as nice without her artistry!

I was especially grateful for Joy working with us only a week before her own wedding. The fact that she was still in the final planning stages of her own walk down the aisle and still working was awesome and her work was gorgeous.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Joy be a part of my special day...I honestly think it would not have been the same without her. Joy was such a pleasure to work with..I have a busy work schedule and joy was so understanding...so considerate and such a huge help throughout my busy planning months...Joy accomodated my requests in giving my mom and I trials before the big day, she had great patience..great input and is a hugely talented Make up artist!.

on my wedding day in September joy was such a pleasure to work with..she is so fun..loving and provided a great sense of calm : )... myself, mom and bridesmaids all had full make up and it was outstanding...I cannot count how many guests and friends commented on my make up...even in wedding pics after...people asking me who did my make up..it gave me such confidence and really added that finishing touch to my day!

Joy was amazing and I could not have picked a better makeup artist for my special day!!!! My makeup looked amazing and the look stayed with me all night, even with all my dancing, talking, eating and drinking:) I had 6 bridesmaids and only 5 of them were planning on having their makeup done and the 6th one decided on the spot that she wanted hers done too along with my mom and the flower girl. Joy was so calm and just went with the flow even when our hair appointments ran over. All the girls were very happy with their makeup and they all looked beautiful. All the makeup Joy uses photographs so well too, that was my favorite part, my acne prone skin looked gorgeous on my day, I can not thank Joy enough!!!!

I give Joy Bemis all 5's Joy was so easy to work with, I am the mother of the bride who lives in Arizona, the wedding was in Columbus, Ohio, so we had to communicate via e-mail and cell phone. She was on time at the hotel, the only thing she asked to provide was a high stool, which the Westin hotel provided, she applied the makeup for 5 attendants, it was extremely natural, and lasted all day. I would recommend her to anyone. Top notch, professional, funny and again a pleasure to work with.

Joy is pleasant, talented, professional, flexible and someone I'd highly recommend to work with on your wedding day. Joy handled make-up for both my mother and the groom's mother and did a fabulous job. They were more than pleased and both looked simply amazing.... actually gorgeous is a better description. I had changed the arrangements a couple different times throughout the wedding planning process and Joy was always accommodating and flexible with me. She's energetic and good person to work with and I'd highly recommend Joy to any "bride-to-be".

Joy was wonderful! The airbrushing was flawless and it lasted all night! I felt gorgeous! Joy is also very pleasant and easy to talk to. Joy was terrific to work with, professional and friendly and fun, has a great sense of humor. Actually she was THE one that joked with me and helped me calm down and get centered at the beginning of the day when I started having a big stress out attack! She did all our makeup beautifully and made extra effort with each person throughout the process to make sure each was happy with how their makeup was done, after having interviewed me about my requirements as the bride.

Joy's work quality is beautiful, quick and efficient. Her prices are low to midrange but the quality of service and value is outstanding. She was always very quick to respond to emails and calls, with solutions and suggestions and an easygoing attitude. We don't live in Columbus so coming into town we weren't sure of all our arrangements/where we would meet, and she was very flexible about that (where others sometimes weren't).

I also noticed that Joy always looks for ways to add extra value to your experience. During our practice session days before the wedding, I mentioned I needed to get my eyebrows waxed - no you don't! was her response! She plucked painlessly and quickly and got them in shape for me, saving me the hassle of finding a salone and fitting in time to go there into my overloaded schedule. During this meeting she also proactively recommended getting a spray tan, when I agreed it was a good idea but I was overwhelmed at trying to find a place and get there, in two minutes flat she went on her Blackberry, found a nearby reputable salon, called them and booked me a convenient appointment! This is to say, Joy provides great service and goes the extra mile to add value and enhance your overall experience. I really cannot recommend her highly enough, she was one of my favorite vendors to work with and always brought a smile to my face to deal with her.

I believe Joy is very professional at her trade and I rated her high in all the 5 categories provided to us here on wedding wire. She gave me makeup tips that I will continue to use and was a pleasure in her visit at my home. I don't wear alot of makeup and I wanted my makeup on my wedding day to be phenomenal. Everyone loved the look. The only thing about my makeup I didn't like was the amount of blush on my cheeks but as I mentioned before I don't wear alot of makeup; I'm mainly a eyeshadow-lipstick type of gal. Saying all of that I still can say that I do not regret the service I received.

Joy was absolutely amazing to work with. Hiring her for my makeup was one of the easiest decisions I made throughout my entire wedding process. From my makeup trial and any questions I had along the way, she truly made me feel as if I were her top priority. She made me and my girls look and feel amazing on my wedding day! I was five months pregnant and had random breakouts that worried me so close to the wedding. The airbrush makeup she applied made my skin look flawless! Also, she did a phenomenal job on my eyebrows! I am SO happy I chose to work with her, and plan to contact her any time I am in need of professional makeup application in the future!

Joy did a fantastic job for my entire wedding party! She and her assistant were very fun and made us all laugh. Besides making us all more beautiful, she was willing to work around a little rut in the location for makeup. It all helped the day run smooth! Joy did an awesome job on my wedding and truly was a "joy" to work with. I am sorry- I just had to say it. She did my whole wedding party and mother. Everyone loved the work she did. The trial really helped because I noticed what I did and didn't like and she knew exactly how to fix it!

Joy applied my makeup for my engagement photo session beautifully. Her personality and warmth made me feel at ease in her makeup chair. The makeup stood up to the heat of the day, the melting sunshine, and all my smiling. :)

Joy is such a talented makeup artist. I would recommend to search and find the kind of makeup you like, so you can ask her to do the similar makeup. Because I did not study about makeup enough, the trial was a little different from what I expected, but she surely adjusted to my request and made my wedding day so special! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the makeup she put on me, and I was definitely able to be confident in myself that day. My husband loved it, and the pictures came out really really good!!!

Joy from State of Face did the make-up for myself, my mom, my aunt and my bridesmaids on my wedding day. She traveled to my mom's house for us, had everyone done with time to spare and reflected everyone's preference in her work.

I loved my make-up! It was beautiful but still looked like me. It also lasted all day-through tears and through having and outdoor wedding and reception in June.

Joy even included a touch-up kit for everyone which was included in her charge. She is very easy going and great at what she does, I would highly recommend her!
